Do you regularly “get quiet” to figure out your next step?

I’m always surprised how many people don’t do this and instead go outward, getting advice from others and trying to solve all their problems externally. In my opinion, there are some things you’re only going to solve by going within.

In those moments of panic or defeat, it takes resilience to go within and trust that this setback doesn’t have to mean anything about us. This is a circumstance we’re in, but there IS a way forward. This is one of the big subjects in today’s episode with Emily Potter, a functional diagnostic nutrition practitioner, entrepreneur, and mother of two.

Listen in as we discuss this and other major topics regarding the motherload, including taking care of ourselves, pivoting in hard times, and modeling the behavior we want to see in our kids.

In this episode you’ll hear about:

  • How Emily started her business and had her first baby in 2013, and how she pivoted when her family moved from Southern California to Idaho to Montana
  • Techniques to find another way when something fails, including looking inward, brain dumping (my personal favorite), and using the “wide angle lens”
  • The importance of using intuition in motherhood, and the things that can pull us out of it, from noise to external opinions
  • How Emily uses time blocking to manage parenting and all her businesses, being very specific on what she’s doing when
  • Modeling the behavior we want to see in our kids, from taking the time to eat breakfast to creating the life and career we desire
  • How little decisions make a huge difference in our well-being, and how to increase your motherload capacity (i.e., become stronger or lighten your load)
