Show Notes:

Was your postpartum experience what you expected? Did you have the support and education you needed? In this episode, I’m excited to share my conversation with Nurse Practitioner and Co-Founder of NAPS (Newborn and Parenting Support), Emily Silver. Emily and I talk about historically what support women typically had postpartum vs the common experience women are having today, and the resources available to make sure more women are supported by a village of support, education and community during such an important transition in their lives. There is such a focus on babies in the childbirth and postpartum era, it’s time to make sure you have what you need to lighten your motherload.

02:10 Meet Emily Silver!

07:30 Postpartum confusion and recovering from an emergency c-section.

09:45 How did you start NAPS?

14:15 What did support historically look like throughout the childbirth process?

23:00 The need for support for women while they have babies and follow their ambitions in their work.

26:00 How does the tactical education you do support the identity shift of postpartum?

32:15 The importance of community and having a safe space for mothers.

35:00 Why do we need to normalize conflicting emotions?

40:30 How important is it to balance education with listening to your intuition?

44:00 Who is on your list of trusted people?

49:45 How long does the traditional postpartum period last?
