Speaker 1:

Do you ever lift your head up from your phone, look around and think to yourself my God, everything is weird. Well, we do A lot. This is the Observation Station, a unique, entertaining and hilarious podcast. If we observe it, we talk about it. Anything and everything, Anything and everything. Let's get weird and let's have some fun. This is the Observation Station and now your host, Tommy Heights.

Speaker 2:

Hello, hello, dear listeners, welcome back to another episode of Observation Station, the podcast. That's unpredictable as Miami's weather. I'm your host, tommy Heights. Today we're diving into a topic that is as mysterious as it is fascinating listening to your gut feeling. So forget horoscopes and fortune cookies. Today we're talking about the oracle that's been with you since birth your gut.

Speaker 2:

So first segment here what's the gut feeling? So let's kick things off with the basics. What exactly is the so-called gut feeling? Glad you asked, or thought about asking. I can't actually hear you. So it's that strange.

Speaker 2:

So it's an almost magical sensation that wells up inside you when you have to make a decision. It's like your own internal GPS, except it doesn't annoyingly recalculate every time you miss a turn and cut off your music. So you've listened to it. Maybe here and there you try to override and say, man, I'm just feeling maybe weird. Today that's just nothing but a fleeting feeling. Then you see things go wrong. So the gut brain connection you got to hold on to your seats a little bit.

Speaker 2:

Here we're about to get scientific. So the gut brain axis isn't just your average Joe's term, it's an actual subject of study. So your gut is often referred to as the second brain with its own set of neurons. So your belly is smarter than it looks, folks. Now this isn't a say you should ask your gut to solve a bunch of your life's problems, but it plays a role in your emotional state and decision-making process. So you got to keep good gut health. Eat yogurt, sauerkraut, kimchi, whatever it is, to get the digestion going Started. To get better into that right now is to say, hey look, good gut health, good gut brain connection. I'm going to start making better emotional decisions. So things are going to get better.

Speaker 2:

I mean, here in Miami it's like a melting pot of cultures, including, obviously, hispanic. So the gut feeling is often called the corazonada. It's a term that emphasizes the heart but covers the same essence. So, trust me, any abuela will tell you always listen to your corazonada. So obviously they always have little sayings here and there, but I just want to keep it where. I'm, speaking mostly English here, but when to listen and when to think twice.

Speaker 2:

So you want to just kind of take a step back. Your gut's great, but it's not, you know, foolproof. It's not going to tell you the winning lottery numbers, who's going to win the Super Bowl, what numbers to pick and whatnot. It's going to tell you that the takeaway here is just balance. Your gut's going to give you an initial impulse and a nudge in a particular direction, but you don't forget to engage that brain of yours for some rational analysis. So weigh the pros and cons.

Speaker 2:

And you got to do your internal research to make your move. So I'll give you an example. Can you go out to you know the town or whatever it is? Some people like, yeah, we need to go to this bar or this place, whatever it is, and you just like man, I just don't think that that feels right, whatever feeling that you get in your gut. And then everyone's like come on, man, stop being an XYZ, you know, you know, stop being the party pooper, you're just like. You know, guys, you can go ahead. It seems like you're just kind of being a Debbie Downer. But if your gut really tells you sincerely that something doesn't feel right, go with it.

Speaker 2:

And a lot of times it's gonna be like oh my god, I can't believe it. So and so got in a fight, everybody got into a problem that we got pulled over in our uber there's always some bullshit that happens and you just mitigated that by listening to the second brain, which a lot of times when you're younger it has an effect to say, oh, do I want to be my younger self, or is this just kind of like? It's an immature being of your Self which you don't know what to do with your gut feeling? You're just kind of like I don't know it. Just you know I don't listen to it. When you get older, you're starting to say, okay, I've had these bad experiences. Every single time I've had this feeling which means, hey, wake up, figure, what does this mean? To like in in the encryption, what is this trying to tell me that this is going to do? In in my heart and in my you know gut, obviously.

Speaker 2:

So a Lot of times people have it when they ask us a person a question and they get an answer. So you go to a trusted mentor, say, hey, I need help and advice on this particular topic. When you go, sit down, maybe have a coffee with them. They don't want to have it where they listen to what you had to talk about. It just becomes a monologue about hearing what they have going, what businesses are trying to get you involved in, to say, hey, if you put in a little bit of money and you're just thinking, man, I should have went with my gut feeling here. This was not something that he really wanted to meet me and just rekindle a friendship. It's more just like, hey, let's see if I can get this guy to be a business partner which you know, I'm not saying anything's wrong with that. But when you're having it Constantly where you're like, okay, is this person, does this person have the best intentions, or are they trying to be kind of a snake or pull the wool over my, my head?

Speaker 2:

A lot of the times when you meet somebody, it just is like something isn't right about that person. Sometimes people be like dude, you're just kind of being, you know, mean Having it where you're just judging people. You don't even know that guy. So many times in my life I've had it where somebody in a group comes up when they might say some things for five minutes. You can feel a bad vibe, a weird energy From there. You just you don't even really have to say anything. Where people are like man, you just kind of looked at that person really weirdly. Well, I mean, if the person just gives off bad vibes, you just feel kind of icky and that's the way that you, you react, even inadvertently, just like oh my god, that guy or gal or whatever it is just doesn't, doesn't seem right. Everything here just doesn't add up. They, they're. They're just not giving off a genuine feeling authentic.

Speaker 2:

A lot of times nowadays, people with the Tick-tock and whatnot just give off some kind of portrayal of who they are, because it's Almost like when we were in school. They're like don't act like somebody, you aren't Be yourself. And so many people now they are not themselves. I feel like a lot of people are just some kind of Robotic, being just pushing whatever the trends are. It's not even themselves anymore. It's like okay, well, these people are talking about you know, yada, yada, yada, I have to start doing this. Okay, with no direction. They have no direction whatsoever. It's just kind of like trends here. They flow in, they flow out like the tide.

Speaker 2:

So, coming back to knowing about the second brain, your stomach, your gut, whatever it is, the low down is, it's more important to grow into an understanding, to say this is a feeling that I've had before. I need to read it, understand it and execute. When you get that ability throughout life to say, hey, look, I've made it a point, to listen to myself and my body a lot more. It just seems to have it where harmony is happening around you without you even noticing. It's just like wow, life seems to be just incrementally smoother. Not as many problems in that area of my life. These are the kind of things that people want to have.

Speaker 2:

Going forward and take self reflection, you look into your life and you say, okay, I need to really take into account what I'm doing with myself when I interact with others, because sometimes you can be closed off. So if somebody comes up to you, they keep talking and you're thinking, I don't know. I want to give this guy or, you know, girl another chance. But let's just see, because sometimes you just maybe just had it where that person was not in a good mood. They might have had a bad experience earlier, before they met you with something that had something that unrelated to you. Give them a second chance and they're like okay, yeah, this is my gut feeling.

Speaker 2:

I just needed to give this person a second chance. Sometimes you meet and you're like I don't want to meet that person ever again. I wasn't even. They didn't say anything, volgar was just. The vibe about them is that they're not who they say they are.

Speaker 2:

A lot of times, when you get older and have met enough people, that is where the whole reading to say this is not a person that I'm gonna mend well with, that's a person I'm not gonna mend well with. So your gut constantly is talking to you about that. When you meet a girl and you're like, oh, I have just a gut feeling that that girl is gonna be a really good catch. So a lot of these things. When you go to, maybe, a restaurant and your gut can tell you this food's good or it's shitty, it's pretty simple. So that's one way your gut can talk. Do you go to Taco Bell? That thing, it's not real food. But hey, if you give me a gift card and I get free food any of these fast food places, you think I'm turning that down? I don't think so. So well, that's gonna be ramping it up here. Remember, choosing your gut over your brain or vice versa. It's about harmonizing the two for better decision-making. So next time your gut whispers or shouts, listen up, but also think it through.

Speaker 2:

So now, today's episode made you think. Wait until you hear what's coming up. Next we're dive into the often hilarious, sometimes perplexing world of conspiracy theories for skeptics. So we're gonna be talking about Flat Earth, area 50, we want you know, and, yes, the mysterious Bermuda Triangle off the coast of our beloved Miami. So make sure you're tuned in for that roller coaster of an episode. With that being said, take it easy and make sure, listen to that second brain. You got all kinds of different ways of thinking. Alright, bye you.
