Each winter, people use the Fort Chipewyan Winter Road to carry themselves as well as vital fuel and supplies in a long journey through trees and brush, over frozen muskeg and rivers of ice. The road crosses more than 150 kilometres of boreal forest to connect the northern hamlets of Fort Chipewyan and Fort Fitzgerald with Fort McMurray and the rest of the Wood Buffalo region. In this episode, our team of municipal staff travelled up the road to experience that journey for ourselves. Join our guest host Greg Bennett as he describes that winter road experience, and learn about two historic northern communities along the way.
