[00:00:00] Dr. Nate Salah
Hello, my friend, and welcome to this episode of A Call to Leadership. I'm Dr. Nate Salah, your host. I'm so glad you are here on this episode. We are going to unpack what wealth looks like without Wall Street. What a topic of conversation. There's been so much negativity and perhaps even distrust of traditional stocks and securities and different ways people invest. Well, I've invited a guest, Russ Morgan, who is. From Wealth Without Wall Street, what an oddly named business. To unpack some of the activities around investing in a way that is truly rewarding outside of the traditional sense and passive income. Other ways that we can reinvest in our future and build a financial system that is healthy. I can't wait for you to listen in. I'm Dr. Nate Salah. This is A Call to Leadership for us. Welcome to the show. Glad to have you, man.

[00:01:04] Russ Morgan
Thank you so much. I've been looking forward to this conversation.

[00:01:07] Dr. Nate Salah
Yeah, man. So you've got an interesting, interesting title to what you do. Wealth without Wall Street. Does that get that right?

[00:01:15] Russ Morgan
You did. That's a stand-on-the-fence kind of line right there, man. There's a lot of, a lot of people out there that a hundred percent agree with it or are like, Oh, I don't, I don't know about that. Everything I've done is Wall Street. So how could you be anti?

[00:01:29] Dr. Nate Salah
Right. Yeah. That's like the identifier, right? If anything, I give you an example. When my son and I went to New York, not too long ago, he wanted to see the bull, right? That was like, I got dad. We got to like, see the bull on Wall Street. That's the symbol, right? So what does it look like to have wealth without Wall Street?

[00:01:49] Russ Morgan
Yeah, well, to me, it's a much more simple, stress free way to do life. And I say that because I came from the Wall Street. So, I was a certified financial planner. Investment advisor and had done that all the way up until the crash of 2008. And I realized quickly at that point, Nate, that I didn't know as much about the investment markets as I thought I did, right? All the things I'd been taught up to that point, I'd really been proven incorrect. And for me, that created a lot of stress because I. I'm one of those that feel the pain of others. I just remember my wife was having her first, our first kid. We have four. She's having the first one that the nurses spent more time tending to me, the dad over there having stomach cramps because I'm feeling my wife's cramps. And I, I felt that whenever people were losing 30 and 40 percent of their, their money back then. And so I wanted a path out of that. So through a lot of research and time, I found that financial freedom didn't equal having, you know, multiple seven figures and some sort of account and waiting till 60 plus to, to start living the life that you, that you felt like that you wanted. It was building more passive income than you had monthly expenses so that you could do the thing that God calls us to do, which is to serve people and serve them out of our giftings.

[00:03:11] Dr. Nate Salah
Come on, man. That's where it's at. And as you're saying that, it reminds me of so many folks who I encounter, especially our avatar, if you are a listener to this program, who has not had the faith, if you will, in Wall Street. And because. There are so many pieces that are beyond control in that with that particular vertical of wealth building and they have decided, I think I can do better by trying it a different way. You talk about passive wealth building, things like that, whether it's in rental properties or other ways to create, uh, to create a model. In fact, people would often ask me. Nate, what's your number one stock? What do you, what do you, what do you, what do you invest in? And I say, Salah Financial Corporation. That's, that's my number one stock because I know the C suite. I know the decision making of the company. I know the soundness of the financial decisions and the, uh, the, the meter, if you will, of the culture and the direction of the, of the company.

[00:04:15]
And I'm willing to invest in that because I find a lot of security in that. Uh, so I think you're, you know, you really hit a, a chord, if you will, especially from the perspective of God-honoring and, uh, investing of our time, talent and treasures. And in fact, with our, uh, with our, our leadership development program on the Great Summit side, we have our G3 model, if you will, and our G3 is really simple. It's just three G's: grow, give, go. So we grow in obedience as shepherd leaders or servant leaders, and then we give. Of our time, talent, and treasures, and we go and love radically as, as is taught, uh, through Jesus's model of, uh, if you think about like radical love, it almost sounds contentious. It's a, it's a, the word radical, it sounds negative, but let me tell you when, when someone, calls you to pray for your enemies, to do good to those who seek to harm you. And that's pretty radical. That's a, that's a, that's a pretty against the grain kind of love. And at the same time. It goes far beyond that. It goes to really, having a desire to be in alignment with all of the giftings we're entrusted with and, and, and magnify those for a greater purpose. And I think that's something that you just, you know, you, you touched on as you kind of explained your, you know, part of your vision for those who you are of the opportunity to, to work with and bless.

[00:05:43] Russ Morgan
Well, I feel like there's so many people that are working hard, whether they own a company or working for one, and they get caught up in, you know, the lifestyle that, you know, that our culture demands, if you will. And, and they, they feel like they're always trying to outrun expenses and never feeling like they're off the hamster wheel. And our goal is to try to help people. To get to go to work because they want to, not because they have to. Because whenever we, we have this feeling that we have to go to work, we don't show up well for people, I don't think, right? Like we, we can be cynical. We can start, you know, doing the things not out of love, like we're called to do. And I think that when we show up because we want to, man, we can provide so much more value to the world. And that's what we really get paid for, is the value we're providing. And the things that I've seen since doing this, we started this process going back to 2009, at least the, you know, the elementary phase of it. It's just watching lives being transformed in that, that people are enjoyment. Right? Like I came out of an industry where there was this talk about saving money to retire. But, you know, as long as I've been reading the Bible, I've never found where, you know, Moses retired. It's not in there, man. I looked myself.

[00:07:06]
That doesn't exist. So, like, I felt a little bit out of alignment in what I was doing. And it wasn't until I, I met this, you know, he was in his seventies at the time and, and he was just an amazing believer that would just get up and share his faith and would teach on what he had learned personally and what had transformed his life. And he just talked about like, man, when we get into a place where we're working because we want to, and we, yeah, our finances are aligne,d and everything that we're doing is aligned, then man. It's amazing to see how God works in that. And I know God obviously works a lot in the struggles and, and and so many people are going through that. And I don't want to take that for granted or dismiss it. But. You know, I think also we face those challenges and give in to certain temptations whenever we're not in the best position financially. So I feel called in what we're doing to spread this message and know that it's secondary to spiritual health, but I love the financial health as well.

[00:08:09] Dr. Nate Salah
Well, and it's important. They're all, they're all part of holding up, if you will, that, that building of life. And, and before, uh, you know, before we, we hopped on, on camera, we were talking about those pillars that, uh, that, that, that we promote, you know, that spiritual health, psychological health, emotional, mental, the physical health and the financial health, all of those work together. We often focus first, uh, on the financial health. Uh, and we sometimes will be then spiritually bankrupt, uh, physically bankrupt, emotionally, mentally bankrupt and realize, and you know, it just as well as I do working in the financial sector over all these years, we've met people who have been very, very, uh, successful air quotes by financial terms in the world's terms. Yet, lives completely dissatisfied and unfulfilled. And so while it's necessary, uh, to fund a way I see it, you know, your, your financial health funds, your ideal life in terms of dollars. It's an important part of the, of the whole equation. And when it can't be in alignment with your values, your spiritual values and your, your eternal values, man, that's truly life-giving. Like I look at that as like living, right? You've, you've watched, uh, probably Braveheart. Yeah. Yeah. Right. I won't, this is paraphrasing, but of course the, one of the famous lines is all men die, right? Few ever live. And you know, that struck me like years and years ago, and this was before I was a believer and I don't want to be that guy.

[00:09:40]
I don't want to be that guy who died and never truly lived. I want to live. I want to live fully like these moments. Every moment is a gift. I believe that's one of the reasons why it's called the present. It's because it is a gift to maximize its inherent value. And scripture talks about it, you know, of course, the parable of talent talks about multiplying and increasing what you're entrusted with. Don't be lazy. Well, it's a wicked and lazy servant, right? Slothful. There's really two different kinds of servants in that story. There's a wicked and lazy or slothful, and then there's a good and faithful. And like, okay, I want the second lane, I want the good and faithful servant and speaking to that from a financial perspective, identifying the ways where I can do that and, and really feel as though I'm contributing. In a greater way, uh, to those, to those spiritual values. So tell me more, tell me more about, uh, about your, your, your mission in ministry.

[00:10:42] Russ Morgan
Yeah. So our, our mission is to help as many people who want to become financially free get there faster. And we define that by passive income exceeding monthly expenses, and we do that by connecting everything to who God designed them to be. So, Joey and I stumbled upon this, I was listening to a podcast and it led to another idea, led to another idea to where we developed this concept of the investor DNA, Nate. And it's really taking the way that we see the world, right? Our personality, which is the way God has intrinsically made us from the very beginning that after age four or five, like literally we, we see the world through this lens pros and cons, right? All the goods and the bads and then we started connecting all these different investment ideas from that lens, you know, so we, we built this passive income matrix. I think now it's 15 or 20 different asset classes and different strategies. And we took the investment people that we were some of best in world that were coming on our podcast, coming to our events and sharing and, and saying, okay, you're this personality.

[00:11:50]
Tell me what's what is it that you like about this asset class? Why do you like it? What is the things that you don't like about it? And what are some of those key things that I need to know? And we just kept doing that over and over and over again to where now. When someone comes into our world, they're typically saying, Hey, I, I'm tired of feeling like I'm on this hamster wheel going. And don't really know how close I am to, to being free, and I would like to know, but I don't know where to start because there's all these ideas. Do I just choose the one Nate's doing or just choose the one Russ is doing? Who do I follow? And I don't think that you should follow anybody. I think you should follow who you are in that. Like, so. For us, it was connecting that, that those traits to the different ideas and narrowed down the path. And so someone can go into our world and they can figure out once they kind of build a system that they can start picking assets based upon the way that God has gifted us. And go faster, and I could, you know, go on and on and on about that, but that's been one of the eye-opening ways that I've seen people become financially free and then just start to seeing the fruit that's produced because of that.

[00:13:00] Dr. Nate Salah
Wow. So if someone were to, I love the idea of the investment DNA and I wrote down investment DNA God's way, like how does that play out in practice?

[00:13:13] Russ Morgan
Well, so I'll just give you my profile. So I don't know if you're familiar with disc, the disc assessment. So you have the drivers, the influencers, kind of the, the steady empathizers, and then the cautious analyticals. Well, I'm an influencer. I, I'm one of those that I go toward people, right?

[00:13:29] Dr. Nate Salah
Yeah, same. I knew we. I knew we had something in common. I give us a microphone, , and a camera. Let's, let's roll.

[00:13:37] Russ Morgan
Yeah. Just, just put the lampshade on us in a party, right? We're gonna, we're gonna be the light. Right. Um, and, and so that was, you know, the way that. Whenever I started looking at investments, the first thing that I did investment wise is I bought a single-family rental, and I don't know anything more boring than single-family long-term rentals, and I had friends upon friends and mentors who had made so much money and had been so successful doing it. And so initially, I thought, Oh, I'll just follow them. Right. I don't need to reinvent the wheel. I just follow them. And it was so boring to me. And I didn't understand why until I understood this investor DNA concept that the I wants to influence, the I wants to be involved. I like businesses, right? I think probably one of the reasons you love being in leadership and in that area is you like to be involved and you want to help influence. And I did too. And even though I bought this property in my college town, I had 20 nieces and nephews at the time. I thought, why wouldn't they all want to go to my college? Right? Like, I'm sure they're going to go there. And, and to now, we've had one out of those 20 that have actually gone down there, and there's years and years after the fact, I never had anybody that went and stayed in my unit that I got to influence.

[00:14:55]
And no matter what I did, I couldn't influence the outcome of it. And it was for me, one of the worst investments. It costs me, I think, 10 to 11 years of finding this financial freedom. As we talk about, having passive income exceeds a month expenses because it just assumed everything was like that. And it wasn't till we started a podcast and we started interviewing people. And I interviewed this guy that was talking about short-term rentals and how he was going on these, you know, sites like VRBO and Airbnb and, and he had find these locations. He'd get to describe them. He'd get to host people at them and how the cashflow was just stacking up hand over fist. Then that's all. That sounds interesting. That's exciting to me. And so, my business partner and I took a long-term rental that he had and converted into a short-term rental and immediately got excited because of how we could influence it. And we grew it to over 25 units in less than 18 months. That business now we installed an operator because as an, I, I don't want to be in the day to day now, those are details that you and I don't really want to, we don't want to be involved in the details, but I did like having those weekly management calls.

[00:16:06]
I did like being a part of, you know, being able to promote it and talk about it and bring people into the world. And it, it was very profitable. It was a very, influential business for us. So this is just an example of what an I likes, and what an I doesn't like. And every profile has that. And there's all these different asset classes that we've seen have success, and they're all have the potential for you to be successful in them. But the difference is if it doesn't connect like I wasn't going to go buy a hundred rental properties like some of my mentors and friends were that were having all the success that just, because if I was like, if I don't like one. I'm not going to like a hundred. And when I found the opposite, like with the short-term rental, it's just that one thing I was like, I like that. I could see having 25 or a hundred or whatever it is. And I think when people can connect to, they are the way guys give to them, they'll have way more success and more enjoyment in the process.

[00:17:02] Dr. Nate Salah
Hmm. Wow. Yeah. That speaks to me. And it's so important to work in your genius, and you're in the area that you're most, driven and you're most gifted in and, and because it can be not only stressful to work outside of that, but also, uh, won't be effective. Yeah. Yeah. And, and so, so now when you're, in, in, in your area of wealth building, tell me about how this is accomplished for, uh, you know, your end user, do they invest in, uh, in, in rental properties? Do they invest in short term? Do they just give you cash and say, Hey, make me some money?

[00:17:47] Russ Morgan
Well,  so we feel like our job is to help people become better investors. That's a super important piece. Um, we want to help them avoid all the mistakes that we made early on. I mean, um, I've lost my business partner, and I've lost more money than most people have ever investe,d and that's not a brag. That's just, that is a share to tell you that, you know, we learned a lot of lessons. So we, we start kind of with helping people organize cash, put it in a place that they can access it and use it. We show them how to become a better investor by the investor DNA process. And then we give them the ability to invest with us if they want. Um, but more importantly, to be in a community of other people that are doing the same process. So we, we have multiple different touch points that we help, but our end goal is to see more people become financially free. And, you know, just like diet and exercise has been the key ingredients to financial or to physical fitness, um, financial fitness has always been having access to cash and passive income.

[00:18:50]
What I think that we've been able to add to that is building the system. So we have thing we call the passive income operating system. And it's just something that we've used personally to build over 50,000 a month of passive income for ourselves. And we've been able to automate this process or replicate it so that every person that comes into our, uh, our world, uh, gets with the coach, they build this system out for themselves, they figure out the asset class that best DNA. And then they get supported around it. And so there's, you know, lots of different ways. Some people come in, they already know like, Hey, I, I'm a, I'm a real estate investor. I'm a business investor. I'm an e-commerce person. I mean, there's, I'm just a private lender. I mean, there's so many different ways to make money. Some people just need a better system, and we teach them the system. Some people need everything. And our job is to try to help walk them along that path and help them get there.

[00:19:43] Dr. Nate Salah
I absolutely love that the community, the education, the upfront analysis of your, uh, of your thresholds, of your tolerances, of what it is that you're, you're wanting to accomplish. And let's just be frank, there's a lot of possibility and power to bless. The kingdom, through, through this, this method, if you will, of, of, of, of wealth building and just throwing out that number 50,000 a month is, it's, it's, it's no small amount of money. That's a, that's a, that gives that resource. And I think, let me just take a step back. Because someone listening is like, well, you know, I, I don't know, it's like, you know, it's focused too much on money, and you know, doesn't the Bible say that loving money is the root of evil? Well, let's clarify, let's clarify what the, what, what scripture says. What Jesus said was that the love of money is the root of all kinds of evils. This is true. The idea isn't to make money our God. The idea is to be wise stewards and shepherds of the money that we're entrusted with so that it glorifies God. Don't be the lazy and wicked servant who buries it and says, well, I'm not going to focus whatsoever on financial health. Guess what? That's called wicked and lazy.

[00:21:14]
I'm sorry. It just is what it is. We are, we are called to, to, to be good stewards. And what does he say about the builder who counts the cost before going out? Right? There's a, there's a strong, a strong focus that's necessary on being intentional. Being wise and being a good steward of the financial resources we're entrusted with of multiplying and increasing them for God's glory, plain and simple, there's, there's no, there's no two cents about, there's no two other ways about that, that's it. And, and so what you're describing to me, uh, is very attractive in many ways, one, because most people, especially if you're a business owner or an entrepreneur or someone in leadership or,, you're busy. And you've got a lot going on and you don't have the resources and the tools to go out there and try to figure out all on your own. If there are systems in place that are God-honoring in terms of how to build well, then I would encourage anyone listening to take a hard look at that. Secondly, this has just recently happened, in a member with a member of my, my group had a, had a major, health issue and, and had to take a hit pause in business. And because of passive, wealth, actually had greater earnings and, uh, the downtime, and that says a lot, that says a lot that gives, again, back to planning, you know, here's the thing, there's a lot of things we can't plan in life, you know, this year, we're both, we're both, past. Middle age, if you were to say, you know, if middle age is at 40, we're on the other side of that, right?

[00:22:58]
And as you, as you've experienced, and I'm sure our listeners experience, there's a lot of things we think we can plan, but, but plans change. Plans don't always go the way we expect or even intend. However, I would submit that there's one plan that will never go wrong. And that's obedience. Obedience to God is a plan that is unfailing, and when we are obedient to walk in these areas of health, as described, spiritual health, psychological health, physical health, and financial health, then we leave the increase to God. At the same time, we do the work. It's a, I tend to look at it like a partnership, right? We do the work. On our end, and then whatever that, however that grows, however fruitful it is, it's, it's, it's done, I think, best, I think, best, uh, in community, because we're not, we, we are, we're communal creatures, of course, you know, that many of the scriptures, uh, where, you know, where two or three are gathered in my name there, I'm also a court of three strands is not easily broken iron sharpens iron and go on and on and the aspect of community is very exciting. And I'd love to just talk a little bit about that aspect of, of your community, your ecosystem, if you will, that, that fosters, this passive wealth-building environment.

[00:24:22] Russ Morgan
Yeah, I think sometimes we can feel in isolation and, and that's not where we're called to be right. And so I, I love the fact that. In community, we get to gain insight from others, but also we get to be an encouragement to the saints. And while our, our community is not, you know, a covenant community by any stretch, Joey and I lead it from a perspective of, we share our faith and everything that we do. When we do live meetings, we, we, we open up in prayer at every single, uh, brick and a bread. And we also on Sunday mornings, if we are having a meeting over the weekend, we leave with a Bible study. And it's amazing how many. Non-believers, we have show up to those things. I like the fact that we can create more together and we can support each other. Well, I mean, the, the blessing I've had within the financial industry, when I used to meet with people, one on one is people will come in and financial stress leads to all sorts of things, and it creates an opportunity to speak into someone's life into a deeper way. I think every one of our coaches see that as an opportunity when they meet with someone, when they feel that they they're open to being able to say, Hey, do you mind? I pray for you around that.

[00:25:37]
And I love that to me. But as far as the community, it's. You know, we, we run masterminds and we have free groups and everything else. And inside of those communities, there's all sorts of different chat mechanisms where people can, can talk about what they're working on, what their, their biggest pain point on like yesterday, I had, one of our members sharing, you know, that she was looking to get her 18 year old involved in something. And, you know, what she had heard a podcast episode we did on, Vendi, my daughter, my business partner's daughter. Just recently started a vending business, and the vending world has changed significantly, by the way, it's not no longer the put four quarters and punch a code in and, and have it spit out and, you know, try to not get your wrist stuck into the drawer at the bottom. It's like, put your credit card on the door. It's an open and a refrigerator, and pick out whatever 10 items you want, if you will. And, and so it was us sharing with her that this is an opportunity. And it's funny because that are one of our last live events. This, mom had brought her son with her because her, her husband was at, a work event.

[00:26:43]
And so he couldn't be with her. It couldn't be with him. And so she was like, I'm just, you know, I had to bring his game boy and I was just saying, hopefully he will just, you know, Be content while I'm here. And she left in tears after the event, because one at almost all events we do, we encourage teens and young twenties to come and we do something called investors in training. And her son got involved in that. And at the last day was saying, mom, I really want to get, get this business started and start telling her about the specific idea that he had learned at that event. And she was just like, this is, you know, bring so much happiness and joy to me to see that, that my son could get involved in something because there she is in her mid to late forties, trying to figure out where to start and just, yeah, I think we all could probably envision, man, if I could have thought about these things that I'm learning now and could have applied them, I mean, just the scripture, right? Like I was walking lost for so many years. And it wasn't until we had our first daughter, uh, where I called me and I, you know, I just think about all that wasted time, um, thankfully, just like the laborers in the venue, you know, like I, I'm coming in late, but I, I still have opportunity, right? You still get the reward. I still get the same reward as everybody else. But so I don't, I don't know if that answers your question, but we, we, we love community. It's, it's, it's such a blessing.

[00:28:05] Dr. Nate Salah
Well, and that's the key. The keyword is love indeed. And I think that's that's the foundation, if you will, for strong, strong business, strong community. And you had mentioned that same same here when I was really growing in business, and actually we're about to celebrate 30 years in business here this coming month, which is a total blessing. It was a long struggle for a long time. And yeah, Any business owner, knows this, that, most of us don't knock it out of the park, first shot out. It's, it's,  it's the school of hard knocks, a lot of labor, as you had mentioned, about, you know, losing if you will, or investing more money in education. That's what I call it. Education of learning what not to do in your business for many, many years. And it almost, it, it was almost as though I stumbled upon it, although it's super clear in scripture. The foundation, for true success, if you will, is love, right? And that's what the greatest commandment or the foremost commandment when Jesus was was, having the conversation with the scribe, love, love the Lord, your God with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind, love your neighbor as yourself. I think Jesus, when you peel the layers of religion, and you look at Jesus as, if you will, an entrepreneur, not sacrilegiously whatsoever, but looking at him from the business side of it, Jesus's model is good business. It's good for business. What, what stakeholder is not interested, in your deepest level of care?

[00:29:38]
What stakeholder is not interested in in you being completely committed to creating an experience that is excellent? What stakeholder does not want you to be responsive and in tune and listen intently to the need and be able to provide solutions that are in your wheelhouse, that bring them to a point of satisfaction. You know, these are all concepts and constructs that Jesus Uh, embodied and modeled in his, in his, uh, leadership journey. And I, and it, as I began to integrate those into my business model with the basis, the foundation of love and love, we're not talking about necessarily, you know, the feeling Eros love that you might have for a spouse. You were talking about the active actions that Paul talked about. Patience and kindness. Russ, imagine a world where everyone started their day with patience and kindness, game changers. Game teachers.

[00:30:44] Russ Morgan
There's a lot to be said about, yeah, um, taking time to think before speaking. Uh, how much patience do we have? How, what's the opposite of patience is anxiety, right? And in the world that we we're serving is, is trying to. Trying to build patience through eliminating anxiety and the financial construct. Well, you bet.

[00:31:10] Dr. Nate Salah
Yeah. And what you're talking about, you know, I think people get a lot of anxiety, uh, speaking coming full circle on Wall Street, the markets down. What do we do? Oh, my goodness. Grab your money. Let's go put it under the mattress.

[00:31:22] Russ Morgan
Well, that's people ask me all the time. How you know, how do you see your world different than that? And I go back to. You know there's four and a half or five years where I was helping people in that specific world, and what I identified is that it is a world of scarcity, and I think we're called to be abundan,t not scarce, and you know people in the markets when the markets up they don't sell because they're experiencing a level of greed to say oh well. What if I sell and it keeps going up, and they don't sell when it's down because they are fearful of locking in a loss. And we talk about putting our, our, ourself in a position of cash so we can become an opportunity magnet and to create passive income by buying assets that can become available. And we can't do that in the markets because of those specifically two different things. And I think it, you know, ties our brains. I dislike. The investment world as a whole, because of this feeling of anxiety and scarceness that exists of never knowing, you know, the position that I'm in. And I know that there's a level of sin in that too, that I, I wanting to control, that part maybe, but I, I just, you know, when my mentor got up, and he talked, you know, he was 80 something before when he was passing.

[00:32:49]
And he just talked about the freedom that he had been given over, over the last, you know, 50 years of his life of, of sharing this message, a part of what we share. And how stress free it was, and the generational impacts it had, right? And I definitely want to impact as many people as possible. And I think being good stewards, as you said, of money is one of those items. And also, we can, you know, Impact the kingdom, like there's some people that are called to go into the mission field, and there's others that are supporting them. Every good gift comes from the Lord. And, and I'm, you know, if I'm not in the mission field immediately, I know we're all in, you know, we're either a mission field or missionaries one way or another, right? So we're all doing that work, but actively out there, then I want to be supporting as many of them as I possibly can.

[00:33:43] Dr. Nate Salah
Amen to that. Amen to that. And that's part of this. The more I can grow in these areas, and financially is clearly one of those areas of growth, then I can give more. And then give, that's awesome. There's a future leader, right? There's a future financial leader in our, in our background. You talked about next generation too. And I think that's important to make sure that we don't lose sight of feeding in and preparing through our example, through our model, and then through, of course, our, the resources we have to that next generation, prepare them to be good stewards. Good, wise investors of what they're also entrusted with. So I love that you mentioned that vending possibility. My son's 17 now, I'll be 18 soon. He's, he's always looking the same thing. You know, what, what possibilities are there for me? And I think we need that. We have a disparage. And our culture and society where so many young people are just kind of shooting for the moon and they think that they're going to have, 50 million, you know, YouTube hits and so on and so forth. And that's, that's okay. However, there's, there's practical and, and reliable ways to, to invest, as you said, passively as well. We just need those resources available to us so that we know the ways and the steps to make that happen.

[00:35:08] Russ Morgan
Yeah, if you can build a system, something you can follow, um, that that's where they call me the idea guy Nate on our, on our podcasts. Not necessarily good or bad idea guy, just idea guy. But to be honest, I love to see a system. I love to see a process and then innovate from it. Um, instead of having to create one from scratch. And like you said, we live such busy life. Some so many times, so much time we don't have to dedicate toward these things. And if there's a process, you see success in what other people are doing. If they're trying to think about, okay, well, I've been successful, but how do I help my kids be successful? I don't want them to, you know, just assume they're going to inherit everything and, you know, then not go through all the hard work that I have gone through. But also I want them to have a better life than I've had. Like, these are all questions as parents, as business owners, leaders that we have, we're trying to figure out what is the best way. And, and so, you know, we, we battle with that. And one of the things that I've seen is. You know, the people who've done it best have, have brought their kids and got them involved. I mean, for those who watching, you got to see my son walk in. That's just a normal occurrence that he brings me lunch, every single day. And it's been the blessing of us having, my home office above my garage. And I used to be like, please don't come on camera. Right. But I want to get him involved and take him on our events and have these conversations and, and talk about the things that we're doing.

[00:36:37]
So they're not foreign when they get to that point, they're not afraid of money, right? The concepts of money is evil, right? That can live out there that money is evil. And as you said, it's so well, that it's the love of money is what we're to avoid money in itself is. You know, just money and obviously all these things that we're getting are blessings from God. So they're all good gifts and I, we talk about money and we talk about what money provides and how we can give and all of these things. And, uh, we're called to be good stewards, but we're called to be producers. And so I, I want my kids to know as much about money as possible. Both the goods and the bad, so that they, they're more prepared when they go out into the world, not less. Amen. Amen. And where can people find you, Russ? Yeah. Well, my team created a link just for this podcast. So, with all the resources we have, you go to wealthwithoutwallstreet.com/ACalltoLeadership. You can get access to our podcast, our community. There's tons and tons of free resources on there. You know, one of the things that we, we built, I guess about six or seven years ago was this community's got about 9, 000 people in it now. It's free to join, and you can actually DM me in there and just let me know that you heard me on this podcast and tell me how I can support you.

[00:37:55] Dr. Nate Salah
Wonderful. Yeah, we'll make sure that's also in the show notes. Now, before we hit record on this conversation, you had mentioned that. Are asked if there's going to be any rapid-fire questions that we're at the end here. And I said, no, there won't. I'm a man of, of, I'd like to say integrity and, and being honest. So there is one question, not rapid fire, but it's the question that I, that I ask when, when it's convenient in time. Timely and a question I believe is important. I think that one that I'd love to hear your answer regarding this journey we're on as human beings, as in your case, of course, in my case, people of faith. And one day, you and I will both be at that great summit. Now, when I see the great summit, it can signify, of course, the top of the mountain, the end of the journey. It can also signify that great, that great meeting. If you will, a summit is an important gathering, right? That's that's the way we look at summits. And that's it's at the end of our journey when we gather with the Triune God and all those who have come before us. And as you as you imagine that day and look upon all of the, the people, the people who have been impacted by your mission, your life, and your journey. If there's anything that you would want to have them to set or something that you would want to be remembered by, what might that be?

[00:39:28] Russ Morgan
I would like it to be impact, right? I was impacted by fill-in-the-blank, impacted by generosity, impacted by compassion. Impacted by love, whatever, whatever the thing is that I know there's a lot of a lot of things that that we have an opportunity to do. And I've thought about that, that thing, like if you were sitting there and someone's given your eulogy, right? And I sometimes I'll ask my kids that question. If somebody were to ask you, tell me, tell me about your dad. What's your dad like? If you had to sum him up in one word, right? And I listen to that because I, I don't want them to say work like he was a, he was a strong worker or he was just a good dad. I want to know if I'm making an impact by some sort of action that's happening. So obviously the thing I want to hear from the creator is well done. Good, faithful servant. That's what I want to hear as those people, would be talking about my life, man, I would love it to basically, some form of impact of what was happening and knowing that that was just a byproduct of what I was given that I was providing. I was just being that vessel, right? Everything's just none of it's mine. I'm just passing it along, whether it's talents or treasures or time. I'm just passing it along on my way to the greater kingdom.

[00:40:56] Dr. Nate Salah
Well, you are on your way. Thanks for being here. Thanks for sharing with our community and, just the wonderful resources you have and the wonderful resource you are.

[00:41:07] Russ Morgan
Thank you for having me.

[00:41:08] Russ Morgan
Great conversation.

[00:41:10] Dr. Nate Salah
Well, my friend, thank you for joining me on this episode of A Call to Leadership. If you've been listening, you've probably heard me talk about our accounting and advisory business, and this show was actually born out of that business. Those relationships. I found that entrepreneurs and professionals. We're missing aspects of their leadership that fed into their bottom line and help their businesses be successful. So I'm so thankful that I've had all those years in that area to feed into this. And the truth is that so many people still need accounting and advisory help and they don't know where to go. If you're in that place where you feel, Oh my goodness, my tax person or my accountant, I can't find them. Or maybe the service wasn't up to my expectations; do not despair. I'll leave how you can find us in the show notes and one of my team members can do some discovery and help you along your journey. You're not alone. My friend, you always have help. I'm Dr. Nate Salah. Can't wait to see you on the next show of A Call to Leadership.
