Being skillfully authentic, understanding your emotional triggers and showing up as your best in the difficult moments
Dec 04, 2023 Season 3 Episode 5
Lucy Rowell

This week I share an insightful conversation I had with Bill Benjamin on the show. Bill is a partner at the Institute for Health & Human Potential, who are global leaders in delivering Culture and Emotional Intelligence training.

Bill is a mathematician & computer scientist who learnt the power of managing emotions while he was in the tech industry. He is known for his honesty about the struggles he had early in his career as a leader.

His degrees in mathematics and computer science lead him to take a practical and scientific approach to helping people understand how the brain responds under pressure, and to leverage that to increase leadership and performance.

Bill has over 30 years of business experience and has provided his expertise on performance and leadership with diverse groups in many high-pressure environments, including the U.S. Marines, NASA, Intel and Amazon

What you’ll hear about:

  • Being your best & speaking your truth in your last 8% moments
  • Managing your emotions
  • Growing comfortable with stepping into the difficult moments
  • Authenticity is the number 1 ranked competency for emotional intelligence
  • Build up self-awareness practices
  • Understanding your emotional responses
  • People remember how you show up in those critical moments
  • How memories are stored in your memory
  • The importance of connection and courage within culture
  • Knowing your emotional triggers and finding ways to manage them where possible
  • Having agency around your emotions
  • Your initial imprints are made by the age of 5
  • You’re not alone. We all struggle
