In episode 9 we speak with Dr. Erin Elder, MD. Her specialty is breast surgical oncology and the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. There are over 3.8 million breast cancer survivors in the United States, and one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. In her interview, Dr. Elder shares some tips for patients and discusses the patient experience as it relates to breast cancer. Dr. Elder practices at Lieselotte Tansey Breast Center at Ochsner in New Orleans, LA. She is a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology and the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
