Episode 23
I could listen to Joe, rapt, for hours on end, as he speaks with one of the most beautiful and prized American accents - the Italian South Philly sound. Joe is an all around host and entertainer, and together we tell three great strands of his story through the development of his three performance forms - drummer and conga player, swing dancer, and background talent ( film extra ) in some of the biggest films filmed in the North Bay! One of the more fascinating through lines in his story from Philly to Sonoma is how the basic conditions of the Sicilian village were recreated in the Americas - first in So. Philly's little Italy, and again in the conditions of a big Hollywood film production.
