Just Keep Going! Georgi's Story

Charlotte & Greg Season 2 Episode 6

In this episode Charlotte & Greg talk to Georgie, whose life has been dominated by cancer for the last 20 years.

Firstly, her husband was diagnosed with gastrointestinal stromal tumours when only 31 and eventually passed away of secondary liver cancer. Georgie also had her own cancer scare when she experienced gastro issues, which resulted in her gallbladder and 60% of her liver being removed. Thankfully, those tumours turned out to be benign but the complications she faced were debilitating.

Then, only a couple of years of coming out the other side of her recovery over these ordeals, she was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma breast cancer with some invasive lobular (oestrogen and progesterone  positive and HER2 negative).

She has also had a lot of trouble being taken seriously over the years and so now helps to advise the medical community on the best language to use and how to approach this difficult subject with patients.

Georgie’s story with cancer continues on and, despite her story having so many ups and downs, she wants to share her story and let others know, you’re not alone. Don’t give up - you will get through the other side. Just keep going!
