Jan 10, 2024 Season 5 Episode 5
O.G. GOAT

When New York City grapples with a complex migrant situation, it's time for a powerful conversation that cuts through the noise. Join me as I sit down with Fat Cat CEO, a voice not afraid to challenge the status quo, to unravel the intricacies of Mayor Adams' controversial actions amidst a critical post-pandemic recovery. In a city already pulsating with the challenges of housing, employment, and an under-pressure social services system, we're dissecting the ramifications of suing bus companies for what many see as merely fulfilling their transport function. It's a foray into the heart of the migrant crisis, where the interplay between governance, accountability, and humanitarian responsibility takes center stage.

This gripping episode peels back the layers of a reactive governance style that's in the hot seat for its latest decision to target bus companies as a means of managing the influx of migrants—both by land and now by air. We scrutinize the intricate dance of politics and practicality, questioning the long-term viability of Mayor Adams' current approach and highlighting the critical need for a proactive strategy that goes beyond courtrooms and confrontations. With Fat Cat CEO's piercing insights, we're shining a light on the need for foresight and action in a city that stands as a beacon for diversity and opportunity. Don't miss this candid take on the deep-seated issues that will shape the future of New York City.

Speaker 1:

Okay, ladies and gentlemen, once again this is your POD holds OG GO, and today we have Fat Cat CEO on board and you're quite welcome, mr Fat Cat. I want to let you know we're happy to have you today and you understand our topic. On what part of the game is that? It's this migrant situation and these immigrants coming into New York City.

Speaker 2:

Yes, that's a very delicate and strong situation right now. They running around the streets out of control. Mayor Adams really ain't doing nothing about it. Now he want to bring charges up against bus drivers in bus companies. That's bringing the people here. They're just doing the job at the end of the day, right, right, they pull up to these places, load their bus up, drop them off at another spot, that's it. They're just the transportation Right Now. The governor, on the other hand, you need to renegotiate your whole situation here. We just got over a pandemic More millions of people all over the world. Let us get back to what we deal with. Right, you know that's not going to take a year or two. Do a couple of years. You know, give us at least five years.

Speaker 1:

Let me ask you do you think the mayor has any claim whatsoever in this lawsuit towards the bus company? What is he thinking? Why does the mayor feel the bus companies are responsible of all people?

Speaker 2:

On that aspect, like I said, I wouldn't blame the transportation company period, right, the bus drivers, nor the bus company. They're getting orders from someone else, so the person that's giving them the orders, giving them the contract, signing a check to them Right, those are the people that need to be dealt with, not the transportation company. At the end of the day, they got to feed their families. I'm not mad at them. That's right. They're just doing their part, that's right.

Speaker 1:

And then one of the first things came in my mind is that, listen, you had our police force, our reduced police force, sitting there and waiting for these buses to show up in the port authority to the port authority with open arms, you know so. You are mad at the bus companies, you're mad at the governor Abbot of Texas for sending the people here and using these migrants as political points. First of all, it's not a political poem. This is my feelings. It's not a political poem. If you started to play the game, that's what it is. You can't jump into a fight and halfway through the fight you get in your butt. Then talk about you want to sue.

Speaker 2:

You really can't do that. What part of the game is that?

Speaker 1:

Right. What part of the game is that you had your arms open? You quoted the base of the Statue of Liberty and, like you said, mike, I agree with you 100% it should have been a cap. It should have been a cap. You know, I did some research and I found out the Statue of Liberty was delivered. I think it's June or July of 18, july 7th, june, 7th of 1885. So I googled the number of the population at that time comes to like 1.3 million. Now I found the population of New York the same square miles of New York in 2023. It is now close to 20 million, fifteen hundred percent increase, almost 20 million more people with the same square footage, with the same square footage, and now you just let in To almost 200 150,000 homeless people. What was your exit plan?

Speaker 2:

I'm happy that we got a black mayor. Yes, right, but everything ain't for everybody and whoever's in Europe political circle, mr Adams, far as I'm concerned, they are not looking at the big picture. What pictures are y'all looking at? I really don't know. Because the American people that I thought that I will assume that you work for, that I pay tax dollars to, will have some type of understanding, control, respect of the American people here. Already that's homeless, that's right, that serve this country and still can't get housing. But Welcome in immigrants.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, I'll pass oh yeah, I watched some upgrade in the airport and you know, grab a black bag, no TSA checkpoint or nothing, and get on a plane and go. So it's.

Speaker 3:

Instead of busing them, they're flying them.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and you heard this, you saw this yourself and now pass.

Speaker 4:

I saw it myself and then Many of my you know my workers, we, we work all night and then traveling the morning. And they see it in Texas. They see it all over the place, houston, you know Dallas he's. He's shipping them out wherever you can.

Speaker 3:

Well, it's Southern California. There's a ton of homeless people. I mean ton. You have to ask yourself why do you see?

Speaker 4:

why don't you see a lot of Like the illegals, homeless, you know that's right, like like New York City In hotel and hotels and they're taking the entire hotel.

Speaker 3:

I can't even walk into the hotel on our dime it's not, it's not down, they don't come over with our bets, sit on the street and freeze.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, truly, truly. And that's what I'm saying about New York. I'm like you're busting in a hundred and fifty thousand yes, I'm running that number in the hole 150,000 additional homeless people in New York City and You're giving them legal services, healthcare, schooling, schooling jobs. Who's paying for this? And what are you gonna start them at? Minimum wage. Your minimum wage is not enough to live off of, no, and now you're. You're allowing them in on the buses and now you're bringing them in on planes. You're giving them first-class and priority. That I don't understand. What about the people that were already here?

Speaker 3:

and people will. People will deny that they get anything for free. They're just coming over here for a better life. Well, yeah, it's a better life. They're getting a lot better to get free stuff. You know, I can't really blame them. It's, it's the government.

Speaker 4:

No, you really know that's right. I've been with the big men as all. You see, that's right.

Speaker 3:

Them by themselves, not their families and New York is an experience in anything that California hasn't seen for many, many decades. That's the thing you know, and everybody else is starting to see this and get exposed to it.

Speaker 4:

But New York is seeing this Because they're being bussed in. But just imagine how we feel in Texas. Yeah, all the ranch owners you know. Just imagine who isn't stopped and caught and put on a bus and is in Houston and Dallas and you know all the kidnappings and shit that are going on. Oh yeah, it's crazy.

Speaker 1:

Absolutely Okay. We're back once again. This is your potholes, oh gee gope. And as we was talking to a few people, our mayor as we already discussed is is suing the bus companies for transporting these migrants to New York City. But it's not the bus companies fault. The bus companies are paid to do a job and they do it. Their transportation company, that's it. They have nothing to do with migrants being accepted to New York City or making Sure that there's places for them to stay. They have nothing to do with that. They get paid to go from point A to point B. So while we're chasing outails here According to the mayor, you know chasing out tails going after the bus companies Because the migrants are not even coming through the buses, no more.

Speaker 1:

Well, let's put it this way in addition To coming to New York City on buses, now they're flying in. Come on, mayor, get on the ball. So if you're going to sue the bus companies, what are you going to sue the airlines now for flying the men? Come on, come on, let's get with the program. Let's get on the ball. We voted for certain elected officials because we feel that they have the ability to do the job and to govern or Mayorize the city, like they supposed to, and I don't know. You know what I mean. Instead of being proactive, we react. Even it's not good. We're always behind the eight ball. We really, really, on a serious note, we really need to step our game up.
