Welcome aboard to another riveting journey on the MAMI on a Mission podcast. As the New Year approaches, that familiar pull of resolutions and aspirations begins to tug at the heart, doesn't it? As your guide and companion on this journey, I share with you, from my own experience, the magical power of vision boards and goal setting. My vision board has been my compass, guiding me through my life's journey, helping me navigate through the twists and turns to achieve my dreams, including becoming a best-selling author.

We navigate deeper into the realm of aspirations as we discuss the elephant in the room - the impact of financial status on our dreams. I open up about my struggles, delayed dreams, and how I've learnt to align my goals with my values, passions, and purpose, rather than the size of my bank account. I introduce you to the concept of visualization techniques such as vision boards, guided meditations, and affirmations - powerful tools to help manifest our dreams into reality. We also explore the importance of spending quality time with God and His word for guidance and clarity.

An exciting curve on this journey is our upcoming vision board workshop. Don't you want to chart out your own path for 2024? Come, be a part of this workshop and let's harness the power of visualization together! Hello, hello and welcome to another episode on Mommy on a Mission podcast, the podcast that empowers Latina women and all women to reach their impossible goals.

Speaker 1:

I am so excited because a new year is coming right. There's going to be gosh. In a matter of weeks, we're going to be already in 2024. And it's just been an amazing year for me, for Mommy on a Mission. I have been on speaking engagements. I wrote my very first book, mommy on a Mission, a guide towards healing, self-discovery and walking in confidence, which made the number one best sellers list on Amazon. I could not have had asked for a better outcome on that, not to mention that I had over 100 guests come out to my book launch and just being invited on people's podcasts and speaking engagements. It's just all been more than what I had ever imagined for the year to be like, and I'm so humbled by it. I've been so excited, and so I continue to have that excitement and I'm just ready to start focusing on the goals for next year, which brings me to the topic of redefining our goals and making the most of the new year, and we're going to talk a little bit about vision boards.

Speaker 1:

I spoke about this last year around this time because I think it's the perfect time, right? A lot of us mojeres are with that mentality. You know, new year, new me mentality, and, although that is catchy to hear, but I want to, I want us to focus a little bit more on being intentional, like what does that really mean for you, right? And I was looking at Insta. I think it was Instagram. Either it was Instagram or TikTok, and I think it was Steve Harvey, and you know, a lot of times he comes out with just some and drops some wisdom on you, right? And in this particular case, he was talking about the scripture of Habakkuk 2, 2 and 3. Yeah, I have heard many scriptures and, for some reason, this one, and I've read the Bible, so for, but for some reason, there are some chapters in the Bible that you just kind of like overlook, right? Because you, we tend to go to the like, the more familiar ones, the go to ones, right?

Speaker 1:

But he touched on this scripture and I loved what it says. It says, and the Lord answered me and said write the vision and make it plain upon tables that he may run that. Read it, for the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak and not lie, though it tarry. Wait for it because it will surely come. It will not tarry, and what does that exactly mean? What the Lord is wanting us to do is he wants us to be intentional about the things that he wants us to be able to accomplish, because, mind you, yes, these are your goals, these are things that you're going to be intentional about, right, but God also has a vision for you, and so we want to be able to tie those goals back into God's word and allow for God to lead you in deciding what your next goal is. What is that vision for your life? Right, and he wants us to make it plain, right, he wants you to be able to write it down and just give it to him, right, that whoever reads it is going to come along and is going to assist in carrying out that vision that God has for you and that you have for yourself and y'all.

Speaker 1:

I want to say that last year, when I was creating my vision board because again, it was based off of the scripture and I was very intentional about the goals and I had been praying about the things that I wanted to see come to fruition, and one of those was the vision to fruition and one of those was becoming an author. So on my vision board I have things about authors as created to create. I had a pen, a pencil on there, a tablet. I had things that I wanted to focus on as far as my physical health was concerned, being more intentional with family and family outings and stuff, and I want you all to know that I created this vision board and I didn't just create it and put it on my wall and that was it. Oh no, I created this vision board. I made it very beautiful. It is on my wall like a piece of art that when I wake up, that is the first thing that I see. Not to mention.

Speaker 1:

I also took a picture of it, created it to be like the wallpaper on my telephone and also the wallpaper on my computer, because I wanted to see it all the time. I wanted it to just stand out at me and I wanted to be able to look at it. And let me tell you for the most part with the exception of one or two things, maybe Not that they have not come to fruition, but are things that I'm currently working on. I've started on it, I've been working on it throughout the year but those are some things that are going to take a little bit longer to achieve than the ones that have already been achieved. And, like I said, as I mentioned earlier, one of those things was my book. I was intentional. I wanted to see myself finally become an author and I was able to accomplish that goal.

Speaker 1:

And y'all when I tell y'all that the process was not easy, but I wasn't alone Like God knew who to put in my path in order for that book to become published and then become a bestseller. I could not have done that by myself. It was not. There was a lot of moving parts that came with it, and I am so blessed to have had the team that I had that supported me along the way, that helped me accountable, that were reaching out to me. It was really just intentional for me to get my book done.

Speaker 1:

I thank my podcast coach, mikaela Alva, who has been there every step of the way, who has been giving me feedback, who has invited me onto her podcast to help me continue to promote my podcast. Not to mention she is the one that introduced me to my book publishing academy coach, janine Hernandez, who I was able to connect with. I interned with her and I was able to receive these services and yet myself provide her some of my services as well. I was able to be a part of the book publishing academy conference. I, like I said she was a speaker for my launch. So was Mikaela. I mean, it's just been an incredible journey. It's been such an incredible journey and even with my podcast. I've had some incredible people on my podcast this past year and with some very great topics that speaks to so many women to let them know that whatever it is that they want to see happen in their lives will happen.

Speaker 1:

So vision board for me it's not about just the whole manifestation, throwing it out into the universe, although if that is something that you hold true to you, then continue to use that. I personally like to envision it, but allowing for God's Holy Spirit to manifest over it and for allowing him to do what he needs to do in order for it to be carried out. Also, word says that for the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak and not lie, though it tarry. So what tarry means is that it may be delayed, right, but that doesn't mean that it's not going to happen. It's going to happen when God feels that it needs to happen at its appointed time, because it is going to come and it's not going to delay any longer. So see, sometimes we're in such a hurry to see things happen that we forget that there is a process that goes along with it. So, for instance, I'll give you an example, like the book thing yes, I worked on that and it happened, but I had started that process last year and it just so happens that this year I was able to finally complete it and get it going.

Speaker 1:

As far as my health, I had been struggling with my weight because of hormonal changes, going through menopause and all of these things, and I finally found a doctor that was able to help me and work with me and I've been able to lose. I want to say now I'm at maybe 40 or 45 pounds down. I mean, I go back and look at some pictures of myself and I was like, oh my God, I was carrying extra weight and, mind you, I have never been an overweight person per se. The most I think I've ever gained in my life was maybe up to 140 pounds. That I'm five foot two, so that's still a little heavy, but that's as far as I've ever gotten. No, this time I reached 196, that's been the heaviest I had ever been. And it wasn't because of lack of trying. I was trying everything under the sun and it just wasn't happening. And I was able to finally find a doctor that could really just assist me in helping me get that weight down and I finally started. So I'm starting to feel a lot better. Now I'm going to start introducing more exercise into the mix, but it's been quite the journey, to say the least.

Speaker 1:

But the things that are delayed right now, because it's just not yet the appointed time for it to happen, is my financial status. So, yes, I am working on my finances. I'm working to improve it, because during that COVID period, I yeah, I think I spent a little bit more than I needed to and I was not focusing on the bigger picture, like what was going to happen. And so, yes, I am currently right now working on that. Thankfully, part of that has already been accomplished. My student loan is paid off. Thank you, jesus, that was taken care of. So now I'm working on the other half, which is the credit cards and stuff, and so, little by little, it's happening. I've already paid off a few credit cards, and so those are now paid off and closed, because I ended up closing those and then I'm going to continue to pay. So that's going to take a little bit longer, right? And so these are the things that I'm talking about.

Speaker 1:

As well as that, you know, there are going to be some things that are going to take time, but then yet there's going to be other things that you're going to be able to accomplish within that year. So that is why I bring up this scripture, because, as you're working on your vision board, it's important that you do a self-reflection. So, before setting your goals, it's important to take some time to reflect on your values, passions and purpose, because this is gonna help you set goals that are truly meaningful and will align with your vision for your life. So I've got some big plans for 2024. I wanna level up. I wanna take it up a notch with my business. I wanna take it up a notch with my podcast. I wanna take it up a notch, too, with my book, and I really wanna take it up a notch with just everything that I've been doing and really setting some goals, because I want to surpass the goals that I had this past year.

Speaker 1:

I wanna be able to grow even more. I wanna be able to grow my audience. I thrive to be part of a Latina podcasting network because I want to be able to have my audience out there, bringing in more audience and, of course, ratings, and then monetizing off my podcast and then, at the same time, introduce my life coaching. I'm really focusing more on the life coaching. Yes, for many years I focused a lot on workforce development, so I did a lot of employment coaching and I will continue to do employment coaching because I still love doing that.

Speaker 1:

But I really wanna take it to the next level. I really wanna focus more on the life coaching aspect because I really wanna see women reach their impossible goals. I wanna be able to help them, address them and really be intentional about them, holding them accountable, you know and accountability is not being judgmental, it's not, you know. Let's say, for instance, it's losing weight and then slapping on the hand and say, hey, you're not supposed to be eating that doughnut. No, no, no, I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about, hey, you know, how did your week go? What did you do? What boundaries did you set for yourself? Okay, so you ate the doughnut. So what was the consequence for that action? Right? So I want it to be a lot more meaningful and more self-reflecting, because I think that's important, because I think once you can reflect on the things that you need to approve and you're doing that daily it's gonna become a lot easier for you to let go.

Speaker 1:

But also identify why, why are you doing the things that you're doing? Why are you self-sabotaging? Why are you in this pattern? Right? What is that belief system that you have about the things that you are doing? And what can we do to help you change that mindset so that you're able to be so where you're able to set your goals and truly, truly, truly make things happen right, and so that's going to be a lot of self-reflection that's gonna be involved in all of this. And also just visualizing. You know the vision board, the power of visualizing it. In addition to vision boards, we want to explore other visualization techniques that can help you manifest your goals, such as guided meditations, affirmations and visualization exercises, and that's really being intentional.

Speaker 1:

Now meditation yes, I'm not talking about yoga-type meditation, although that can be good for those who love it, but I am talking more about spending time with God, because I am a Christian right and at spending time with God, spending time in what His word is saying to you about you, for you, and the things that he wants and desires for you. You know it all comes back also to Jeremiah 29-11 that says I know the plans that I have for you, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope in the future. Right, because he has that there is a hope, there is a future for you. I don't care what situation you're in. You have a choice. You have a choice to make things happen. You have a choice to make some changes in your life. You have a choice to leave a situation if it's unhealthy for you. You have a choice to go back to school if that is something you wanna do. You have a choice to ask for an advancement or a career change or a raise at your job, you know, or a promotion. You have the choice to make those things happen, but there has to be purpose behind it. There has to be a passion, a value behind it, and so we wanna be intentional about spending time and just quietly, you know, focusing on how you see these things coming to pass right, and then affirming those, you know, by creating words of affirmation that you can live by.

Speaker 1:

I was, and I still am, a firm believer of scripture. A lot of those have been my words of affirmation, such as Philippians 4-13,. I can do all things through Christ, who gives me strength, and that's what I'm talking about. These are the ones that these were my go-to scriptures. These are the ones that were really there for me, just like Proverbs 3, 5 and 6. That says that I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord plans to prosper you, not harm you, plans for a hope in the future. Um, you know? Oh, I'm sorry. I I read the script. I'm trying to go by memory. I get so excited, yeah, that I get like I've.

Speaker 1:

But it's lean out on your own understanding. Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean out on your own understanding in all your ways. Acknowledge it and he shall direct your path. That is Proverbs 3, 5 and 6. I was Bringing in Jeremiah 29, 11 with that, but those are, like I said, those were my go-to scriptures. Those were the scriptures that affirmed my mission to keep going.

Speaker 1:

And so, again, as I was creating my vision board last year, I was very intentional about those things, about techniques. So it's not just about what goals you want to accomplish, but also about what techniques do you want to use. Put those on your vision board. Like, if it means more scripture time, then put some scripture up there. If it means Having quiet time, then find a picture of a peaceful place, something calming, relaxing, that Reminds you that you know what I need to go to that special place of mine and just sit in the quiet and just enjoy God's goodness, enjoy the beauty before me. And those were the things that I did.

Speaker 1:

I, now that I'm in Galveston, where I work in Galveston, I'm close to the beach and every now and then I just take a ride up on the beach, because it's been such a long time that I've done that, because I've lived off the island for so long and, mind you, the the beach is only 15 minutes away from me. But when you're in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it's almost like you forget to just explore out, and I wanted that to be intentional. I wanted that to be something that was going to be a part of what I wanted to do, and so I have been able to just go out, take pictures when I cross the causeway. I take videos of just what it looks like in the morning, because sometimes it's just a beautiful scenery out there and it just reminds me of just a calmness, like if your mind is rushing. That place can just bring you right back to a moment of calmness and peace, and that's what I mean by be intentional about your vision board.

Speaker 1:

Also, visualization exercise can consist of just picturing what you would like to see things happen and how you would like to see them unfold, and just closing your eyes and creating a picture, a scenario, situations, and and see how it plays out in your mind and then, when you open your eyes, then Documenting or writing down the things that you are going to need, maybe the people you're going to need to talk to, the tools you may need to make these things happen. All of these things are going to be part of your vision visualization exercises, because you're going to take this time to just really focus. Focus, if you're wanting to lose weight, what do you visualize your body to look like? For me, one of the things that has been very helpful is I grab a picture of what I used to look like and I don't mean like when I was a Teenager, because that's I've already had children, but Perhaps a moment in my adult life, after children, where I felt the healthiest, where I felt the strongest, where I felt the most confident, where I felt the most Healthier. I guess I Would get that picture and I put it on my vision board, because I know that if I was able to get there, I can get there again, and that's the place that I want to be at right, and so I can easily visualize that, visualizing Other things in my life you know, if I want to Go to the beach, what do I visualize?

Speaker 1:

If I want to visualize calmness, what does that look like? What does that feel like to me. How does that emotionally? How do I feel emotionally when I think about those type of places? So those are the things that I will say that you would want to do before you even start creating your vision board and then start choosing Pictures or scriptures or something and make it beautiful.

Speaker 1:

Make it your own. Don't compare your vision board to anybody else's. This is for you, this is not for everybody else. Everybody's gonna have their own vision board. They're gonna have what they want to see how they want it, and you just be creative with it, have fun. It does not have to be stressful, it is so much fun. And so last year, when I have this workshop, we were just all laughing and just enjoying ourselves and just helping each other with our vision boards, just, you know, creating some things and we prayed over them. We took pictures with our vision boards and it was so much fun because, again, this is for you, this is not for me, this is not for your friend, this is not for your neighbor, it's not for anybody, but for you and God, for you to have something that is going to be a Focus point, for you to be reminded daily that you know what I need to pray over my goals. I need to pray over what I want to have and see accomplish throughout the year of 2024.

Speaker 1:

Also, learning to overcome obstacles. You know we've discussed in the previous episodes about Overcoming obstacles. I've had many women come on the podcast talking about the Obstacles that they had faced and how they were able to achieve their goals. So you know, in in facing your goals, there's gonna be some self-doubt. There is. We all have a sense of imposter syndrome within us at some point or another. Right, we're not always as comfortable in some areas as others, but Do not let that stop you. Do not let that stop you from achieving your goals. Just get connected, refocus, give it to God, pray about it, find someone that you can talk to. I Would suggest a life coach, because that's what I am and that's what we do. That's what we're here for. Right, because we can help navigate through some of those things, some of the fear of failures. You know, why do you fear failure? Why are you Suddenly lacking the motivation to continue? What are some of those obstacles that are just Hindering your progress? We so we want to be able to, you know, focus on some strategies for overcoming these obstacles and staying on track with your goals, right? So, again, you know these are just some examples, some ways for you to Start working and focusing on the new year.

Speaker 1:

I personally don't like to use the word Resolution, because to me the word resolution is almost like I'm having to resolve something, and that's not the point I mean. A lot of people use it and that's fine, but I like to say, being intentional with my goals, I don't want to resolve anything. I want to improve on things, I want to master things, I want to accomplish things. I don't want to resolve anything at this point. I just want to become a better version of myself, a stronger version of myself, a more knowledgeable person, a wiser person. And that is not going to come from just me alone, right, cause I can only do so much. I can only go so far, but God can do so much more than that. And then he's going to place the right people in my life that have the things that I don't have. That's going to help me develop those skillsets, that's going to help me increase my knowledge, that's going to help me build up my confidence, and that's exactly what's going to go on with you too. You know, don't doubt yourself. And remember, it's not about you doing things on your own because, like I said, once you get to a certain spot, you're going to plateau, and that's when you're going to need to bring in others right, you're going to need to bring in more ammunition and you're going to need more fuel to add to that fire. Right, because it's going to get to a point where you will plateau on some things and then you're not going to be able to go any further, and so it's going to take other people that have that skill set, that have the tools, that have the knowledge, the understanding, to be able to help you get that much further out. So, mojérez, I encourage you to work on your vision boards, or at least start thinking about that.

Speaker 1:

I do have. If you're in the Galveston County area, I do have an upcoming vision board workshop on December 30th, from four to six. I've got the invite on Eventbrite. It's on my Facebook page of Mommy on a Mission. I've been promoting it on my Instagram at olamommyonamissioncom I'm sorry at olamommyonamission and it's also going to be on my website at mommyonamissioncom. So if this is something that you would like to partake in and you want to join me for the vision board workshop. It is $15. That $15 is going to assist with providing food, but also the material, so that you don't have to bring anything. Everything will be supplied for you. So I do ask for $15 to register. I do have a minimum amount of spots available, so I do ask that you register for the vision board workshop. We are going to have a fun time. We're going to take pictures, we're going to laugh, we're going to just enjoy each other's company and just really reflect on our visions for 2024.

Speaker 1:

Also, mommy, on a Mission's daily reflection self-discovery and growth 30 day journal is on sale on Amazon, and so that's going to be for additional support in your goal setting journey. So in the book I'm looking at a copy of it right now it is 30 days worth of journaling and what it's got in here it's got let's see. It's got my daily tasks. You can put the date. It's got a section for things to do, a little section for notes what's going to be priority, what can you put for tomorrow? And then there's another page where it's like it's going to be a self check-in.

Speaker 1:

So it asks how are you feeling today, Things you are grateful for, because we want to always find at least three things that we're grateful for each day. What's your affirmation for the day, so today's affirmation, and what is my mood today? Am I calm, am I happy, am I anxious, am I rested, am I angry, am I playful, am I creative, am I sad? Or you fill in the blank to how you're feeling and then it's got two notes, two blank pages for notes, if you want to be able to take a little bit more notes on how you're feeling, how things are going and this is just to get you started so that you can get in the habit of journaling but also for checking in with yourself on a daily basis, you know, really self-reflecting on how you're doing things that you're doing, and also are you, you know, creating those boundaries for yourself? So it's the mommy on a mission. It's the daily reflections, self-discovery and growth 30 day journal. Again, it's on sale for Amazon Right now.

Speaker 1:

I do have a promotion going on that if you sign up for life coaching, it's gonna be eight week session of life coaching. It's for $560. There's a discount on that. So it's $560 for eight weeks. We're gonna do everything from one-on-one coaching. I do record the session so that I can forward it back over to you. We have accountability sessions. We're gonna have group sessions as well, so it's very, very involved with the life coaching. And then yet, when you sign up, you will also get a free goal setting journal for your goal setting journey. So, if that is something that you're interested in, again, if you type in my name, mariana Montarrubio, you're gonna see my book and then, underneath my book, you're gonna see the new 30 day journal.

Speaker 1:

I have been using it. I think it's a lot of fun. It's not nothing big, it's just to help you get started. So if you've never started journaling before, it's gonna be something that you can get started. So do not forget, december 30th 2023, is a vision board workshop. On Amazon is the 30 day journal, and I am excited to see what is going to come for 2024.

Speaker 1:

I hope it's just as amazing, if not more amazing, than 2023, because listening all 2023 for me was a good year. I know that for some of my friends and family members, it's been a hard year for them, but I feel blessed and honored that they have been there for me and that I have been able to be there for them. I do not take my role lightly. I believe that everyone has an input in my success, in the success that has happened so far, and I don't take that lightly. I am very humbled, I'm very grateful, I'm very blessed to end 2023 here on such a wonderful note and I look forward to what 2024 is going to bring.

So tune in next week. Next week will be I will do an episode next week. I have a wonderful guest who is going to visit me on the podcast. She has such a wonderful, powerful story. Her name is Janelle Borreiro Peña. She is a wonderful, wonderful woman with an incredible story, and I cannot wait for you to hear her story. I think it's gonna be one that is going to be a great way to put a pause on the podcast until January. So I am gonna take two weeks off for this month of December. So next week will be the last episode for the month of December of 2023. And then we're gonna come back, dive right back in into some fun topics again in January. So I am looking forward to next week, but I'm also looking forward to 2024.

So, if you are new to the podcast, thank you so much for joining me today, for all of you who continuously listen to me. Oh yeah, and I wanted to say thank you all so much. I got my Spotify. What is it? My Spotify, I don't know information stats, whatever. And Mommy on a Mission went global. So I've been heard in the UK, I've been heard in Australia, in Spain, I mean, I've been in Latin America. So I'm very, very excited about that. And also I've had more folks listening to the podcast and subscribe to the podcast and that has been amazing. So Spotify was able to give me that information and I was just blown away by that. I was not expecting that either.
