(Retired) Sergeant Alan Patton grew up in Grand Prairie. He went to SGPHS where he played numerous sports. After school, he joined the United States Marine Corps (USMC) where he served in Vietnam. After his two stints in the military, he joined GPPD in August 1980. He worked patrol and then became a detective. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1998 and became the Major Crimes Supervisor where he supervised the investigations of assaults, homicides, and other person-related crimes.
He went to Internal Affairs (IA) in 2008 and later retired in August 2012. Since retiring after 32 years in Law Enforcement, he has stayed busy and often dabbles in police work as a consultant, doing criminal case studies, and helping with investigations.
He shares some interesting stories of his time and speaks of his near-death experiences as an officer which sent him to the hospital for many days.

Chris grew up with a servant's heart in Missouri. His family moved to Texas in 1979 due to his dad being in the military. He sent himself through the police academy and got hired as a police officer in Azle where he worked for about 5 1/2 years. He heard about GPPD and the rest is history!
He joined GPPD back in 2002. He has worked patrol, been a Field Training Officer (FTO), was a member of the Honor Guard, and is currently serving in the Traffic Division as a motor officer.
Chris speaks of his time as an officer, his passion for motorcycles, and his faith. He also talks about the blessings given to him and his family (spouse) during a time of great need.

This week we sit down with Clint aka Bo. After getting his degree from Baylor University, he came to GPPD to pursue a career in law enforcement. He has been an officer now with us since 2016.
He worked patrol for many years where he was a Field Training Officer (FTO) and also on the Honor Guard. He is currently assigned to the Crisis Support Unit where he works daily doing follow-ups with a mental health clinician in the field.

Cord decided to be a police officer after taking some criminal justice courses in college. After school, he worked for another local DFW police agency for a good number of years as an officer. He left there as a motor officer.
Cord knew about GP and came for higher pay and better opportunities. He got hired by GPPD in 2020. He worked patrol for a bit here and then transferred to the motor unit in mid 2023, where he still serves today.
Cord is a proud father of two boys.

Evan began his law enforcement career working dispatch. He then worked at DPD for a number of years as an officer. He left to go work in the oil industry where he made way too much money for his own good. As that dried up, he felt the calling back into LE.
He joined GPPD back in 2017 as a lateral officer. He worked patrol and is now a member of our Lake Unit. He basically gets to drive around in a boat all day and "patrol" according to him. He shares some good stories along his journey and has some "profound" words of wisdom for those considering going into LE.

Alyssa grew up in the DFW metroplex. She knew at an early age that she had a pull towards law enforcement. She was heavily involved in pageants and cheerleading growing up. She went to Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU) where she got her degree. She was later hired by GPPD and had an interesting route to become an officer.
After an injury in the academy, she became a Public Information Officer (PIO) for GPPD. After fully healing up, she rejoined the police academy and completed all of her training. She is currently on Night Shift having fun serving the community!

Owen aka Chase, is from Owasso, OK. After going on a ride-a-long, he knew policing was a calling for him. He got his degree from OSU, where he also met his wife. He then went to work for Tulsa PD for a few years. He transferred to GPPD at the end of 2018 where he was one of the first to attend our abbreviated out of state lateral academy.
He has worked patrol and is currently now on the Bike Patrol Unit. He shares some good stories, particularly one in which he unknowingly helped a lady steal beer, while in uniform.....of course he then found her and arrested her!

Greg grew up in the county on the farm and came from a long line of educators. He came to GPPD in 2007 as a brand new fresh recruit. He has worked patrol and has done many things in Traffic. He also spent time as a Detective investigating Child Crimes.
He has been a Sergeant for awhile now and is currently the supervisor over Personnel & Training. On top of that, he oversees our Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) team and training. He is also a proud husband and father.

This week we sit down with officer Ben. He was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He was homeschooled and joined the Army at 17 years old. He met his spouse in the Army. When he got out (wife was still in the military), he got a job as a police officer in North Carolina. He was in patrol there and on their SWAT team.
A buddy of his told him about Grand Prairie as he was looking to get a law enforcement job in Texas. He tested with GPPD and the rest is history.
Ben spent a couple of years in patrol here at GP and is now a member of our Bike Patrol Unit.

Mark secretly grew up wanting to be a circus performer, yet he grew up playing sports and wrestling in high school. After school, he settled for the Army and various jobs before becoming a police officer.
Mark aka Keith has been with GPPD since 2019. He has been a CSI tech and a drone pilot as well. He is currently assigned to the Bike Unit where he holds various roles and wears many hats for the department.

This week the guests sit down with Officer Bobby. He came to us as a lateral many years ago from Roanoke PD. He comes from a line of policing so he grew up around it, fully knowing the life and career he was getting into.
He has been an officer for about 16 years and was a dispatcher for about 3 years prior to that. Bobby is a member of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team. He was a a Field Training Officer (FTO) for many years but has taken a break from that.
He is happily married and his wife recently joined GPPD in the Finance department.

Stan started as a dispatcher back in the day as well as being a volunteer firefighter. He retired after 20 years, then did corporate work for a bit. He has been with GPPD for 8 years now.
Stan is the jack of all trades here at GPPD. He is the behind the scenes man fixing and keeping up with everything to keep this place running. Stan has been married for a long time and is a man who is always smiling and happy to be at work.

Calvin grew up around policing. His dad was a long time cop and retired supervisor at GPPD who retired a few years back. In fact he even talks about his dad having a sweet mullet while he was in narcotics.
As an adult, Calvin first worked alongside GPPD officers when he was a loss prevention officer at the south Target in GP. He knew all along policing was his calling and that he was going to be a GPPD officer. With perseverance, he was hired and joined GPPD in 2011.
Since being at GPPD he has held many roles such as a Field Training Officer (FTO), SWAT team member for 10 years, Deployment Unit Officer, Patrol Supervisor, and his now the Supervisor for the Lake Unit.
He is a proud husband and father.

Thomas grew up in the DFW area. As a teen, he met his future wife at a church event and the rest is history. They have now been married for 16 years. Tommy played football and went to SAGU (Southwestern Assemblies of God University) in Waxahachie where he played football.
As a kid growing up, he didn't have aspirations to be a police officer. After college he was working for a moving company and decided he needed to find a career with a pending family. He sought out policing and got hired by a local police agency. He attended the regional police academy where he met and trained with current GPPD officers. He completed training and worked at that agency for about 11.5 years.
A few years ago, he lateralled to GPPD for a change of pace and more opportunity. After being here a few years, he took the Sergeant test and was one of only three people to pass the sergeant test. So despite being relatively new with GPPD still, the department took 3 supervisors so he promoted!
SERGEANT Tommy is on nights now where he has been for a year now as a supervisor. He is going good work and is a testament to hard work and taking opportunities! We are lucky to have him for sure.

Jeremy had an interesting path to get to GPPD. As much as we hate to admit it, he was a firefighter and medic before. However, he came to his senses left to come to Team Blue!
Jeremy was born and raised in California. He went to UC Santa Barbra for college. He got into videography and photography where he then worked in the film industry in CA. He had his own company and went to Houston for a project. He liked it so much, he stayed in Texas!
He was looking for a change of careers and got a job as a medic in the Houston area. After doing the FD/Medic thing for a few years, he wanted more. His passion was policing so he applied for GPPD and the rest is history.
Jeremy is into health and fitness, in fact so much that he recently competed in an Iron Man competition (which is nearly like 3 Triathlons...no thx!).
He is currently on nightshift where he serves and protects!

Chad grew up NOT in the city, but on a 100,000 acre ranch. Needless to say, he learned quite a lot about animals, fencing, and country living.
Chad later joined the Marine Corps (USMC). After getting out, he went to college and got his degree. He then became a professional bull rider competing on the PBR. After breaking most bones and getting impaled by a bull through his head/face, he met his wife (while injured). Chad then pursued his goal of law enforcement. Chad became a state trooper up north for a few years. He then came to Texas and joined another local agency (shoutout APD). After doing a few years there, he came to GPPD. He has been with GPPD since 2014. In his time here he has been in patrol, a Field Training Officer (FTO), Honor Guard member, and part of the Mounted Unit.
Chad lives the country life where he has numerous animals on their 13 acres of land. His is currently breeding 1/2 Angus and 1/2 Wagu cows which will be some tasty meat!

Chris grew up as a military brat, living all over the globe.
He got involved in law enforcement in 2011 where he worked for a sheriff's office (detention) for about 3 years. Chris then joined DPS as a Texas State Trooper for a few years. He transferred to the DFW area where he worked around Ellis County. He knew some GPPD cops and decided to apply.
Chris joined GPPD in 2019. In his time here, he has been in patrol, a Drone Pilot, a SWAT Negotiator, and is currently a School Resource Officer (SRO).
Chris is a proud husband and father.

Jeremy Wright is the ASAC (Assistant Special Agent in Charge) at the Dallas FBI Office. As ASAC, Jeremy oversees FBI Dallas’ Criminal Branch 2 which manages Crimes Against Children, Human Trafficking, HUMINT, TOC-E, TOC-W, Violent Crime, Violent Gangs, and the Confidential File Room.
Jeremy was born and raised in the Appalachian Mountains of Eastern Kentucky. He attained a master’s degree in Sociology with a concentration in Criminology in 2002 from Morehead State University in Kentucky.
Prior to joining the FBI as a Special Agent (SA) in 2012, Jeremy served eight and a half years in local law enforcement at the Office of the Fayette County Sheriff in Lexington, KY and achieved the rank of Captain.

Fidel (the 3rd) was born in Puerto Rico and came to the US when he was four. His dad joined the Army and he lived the typical army brat live moving all across the country. Fidel went to four different high schools in a two-year period. After high school he enlisted in the USMC where he served in the infantry. He did four years and deployed twice to the Middle East.
After getting out of the military, he got into government contracting for twelve years and worked all over the global with DynCorps and Triple Canopy. During that time, he had three girls as well.
He later joined GPPD where he has been with us for about six years. In that time, he has worked patrol and is a current SWAT team member.
They share some funny stories of his report writing journey and riding around in the car with Nate while in FTO. Fun fact about Fidel, he is the longest tenured Blue Belt at GPPD in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu where he has held that honor for 12 years now (at Blue Belt).

Keegan came to GPPD after graduating college. He has been with GPPD since 2017. In that time he has been a patrol officer, Crime Scene Investigations Field Tech, and a Field Training Officer.
Keegan grew up in Bedford and went to college at Texas State in San Marcos, TX. He got his degree in Criminal Justice. He originally wanted to be a Game Warden due to his love of hiking and hunting.
He is a proud husband and father.

Travis grew up in the Valencia area of California, playing sports as a kid. He developed a desire to get into law enforcement while in high school, after doing a ride-a-long with his neighbor who was an officer for LAPD.
After college, Travis got a job with Culver City PD. In his time there, he did patrol, special enforcement team, and then SWAT. He even rode around sometimes on a sweet e-bike (of which KD didn't find too impressive).
Travis has been an officer now for 7 years and is having a blast here at GPPD. He speaks of his transition to GPPD and his journey in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from California now to Texas.
Travis is married and has a young son, a native born Texan!

Dylan took an interesting path into Law Enforcement. He first got hired as a dispatcher by a local agency. He later went to policing but didn't successfully complete training, therefore going back into dispatch. He didn't give up on his goal and got hired on by another agency. He completed training there and did well for a few years.
After attending outside training and meeting one of our officers (shoutout to Nowak), he applied and got hired by GPPD. Despite a rough day 1 (of being late), he made it.
Dylan is a long time martial artists and speaks of his trips to Thailand to further learn Muay Thai. He is also a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Dylan is a story of persistence, determination, and working for what you want.
He tried to spend the whole episode talking about Dungeons and Dragons, but thankfully the hosts kept him on track. Kinda.
