Speaker 1:

An ideal world would be blank.

Speaker 2:

I want to have four girlfriends All right, all right, all right.

Speaker 1:

They all cool with each other. Next question is they?

Speaker 2:

all can just be happy together and there's no complaining. I don't know. I just want to live life, man. A lot of girls just complain why we can't just be happy and live a great life together and go out and just party and just get drunk and just take trips.

Speaker 1:

Leave me alone. You can't be serious.

Speaker 2:

You can't be fucking serious. You don't think I need to all, just be cool and just be happy.

Speaker 1:

No, nigga no.

Speaker 2:

It's your boy Bass Drive man. Make sure y'all go tune in to that Worldwide Slam where I just dropped out with Nyla. We need to talk.

Speaker 1:

What's going on, guys? Nyla Simone here with another episode of we Need to Talk, and today I got a very special guest in the building. We got Bae Swag Yo. Speaking of swag love the fit.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah, thank you, thank you, love, love love. It's a calm day for real, I Crazy.

Speaker 1:

Where's the hat from?

Speaker 2:

The hat is from my homie in LA. It's called Lab, His name. His clothing line is called Lab. Pretty hard he got all kind of colors. I just like it because it's a little different, you know.

Speaker 1:

No, it's beautiful, I love it. I'll take it in five different colors.

Speaker 2:

I'll give you one.

Speaker 1:

What For real, please? Yes, all right, you know we started to a great start. I appreciate you for allowing me to share my truth with you and you not judging me and like just actually trying to help.

Speaker 2:

I don't judge people. I love that I don't judge. I'm with all the bullshit.

Speaker 1:

Now I actually met you almost 10 years ago, maybe like nine. What? Yeah, yeah, yeah, at an event. I was still in college at the time, but I was just going to events and shit like that. It was called Underground something. It was like a venue in Queens. You were there, ralph was there, king Kong was there, actually Ten years ago. You know what I'm talking about. It was a long time ago, I don't remember that, but I know none of y'all knew me, but I'm just like a fly on the wall.

Speaker 1:

You know like I play the bat or whatever, but anyway, yes, I've been seeing you put in the work for a very long time, so I'm excited to see you get this moment, and I can't wait to see the run that you, you, go on now. Yeah for sure, thank you, yeah, of course. So before we get into the run that you're about to go on, let's just talk about you. Know what I feel like your introduction to the world was, which is Fisher, right. How did you and Cash come up with that?

Speaker 2:

It was just a regular day in the studio for real. It wasn't like just a regular day in the studio. We had some vibes with us.

Speaker 1:

Some vibes equals ladies.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, the bros, it was just a regular day. We was fake lit, just regular recording man. We just made a song and that was that. It was like a regular day. But the next day we went back to the studio. We was playing a couple songs and we played that one and that one stood out the most like they kept running it back, running it back, running it back. We had like a party in the studio kept running it back, running it back. I was like, oh darn, it's fire is.

Speaker 1:

Is that like? Were you guys saying For sure instead of for sure, or like already?

Speaker 2:

Like that was already like we wasn't saying it like on the, but we were saying it like here and there, cause I was listening back to a song that we did in like 2022 I think, and we said it on the song. So I'm like, oh snap, we've really been saying this for real. We've been doing that, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Y'all low-key, have y'all own slang language, because when I be talking to Gabe he be saying mad things. I'm like huh, like what you talking about right, yeah it's like you have, you gotta get with the lingo. Where is it coming from? From us?

Speaker 2:

from us. We just so fried and just be just living life and just we just be coming up with shit. I ain't gonna lie that's funny.

Speaker 1:

He put me up gabe was teaching me about toothies oh, toothies, I'm like toothies. What the fuck is a toothy.

Speaker 2:

That's like a uh. You know what it means.

Speaker 1:

Uh, yes, I understand now, but I'm just like all right, um, I'm obviously getting old. Okay, fuck you keep saying you're getting old. But that's how I feel You're not old. That's just how I feel You're like three, four years older than me. You're not old, oh Lord. All right, all right, Come on. Nobody needs to know.

Speaker 2:

When you was going to college. I was going into high school, bro, you just made me feel mad old. No, I'm trying to make.

Speaker 1:

No, I'm trying to show you that you're not old. Okay, it might sound, but you know, all right, all right, it's cool, I'm not. I'm not mad at it, but so it. So you said you guys been doing this since 2022. I gotta be honest, this is my introduction to cash too. I knew about you before I knew to cash, but you guys were already kind of cooking up this sound. Yeah, was it Sexy Drill in 2022 as well, or?

Speaker 2:

is this like a new development For real, for real? Child and Cash really like they was doing the Sexy Drill first, for real for real, because they had dropped like two projects so I got to give it to them. They really started it for real, for real. Yeah, because when I was tapped into you you wasn't on, I wasn't making Sexy Drill. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I was more in pain or some club.

Speaker 1:

So Cash definitely introduced me into Sexy Drill world. So let's dig into Basewag's background. How long have you been rapping and what was your MO to want to start? What's your villain origin story?

Speaker 2:

I've been rapping. You see me 10 years ago. Right, I've been rapping, you see. You said, you seen me 10 years ago right, you've been outside, you've been outside. It wasn't literally 10 years, though. It was really like 20. I have been rapping forever, but seriously like 2015, 2016.

Speaker 1:

I was going to say, to be fair, it was really like eight years ago. I'm just rounding up.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it was like 2015, 2016. Doing it because, first of all, I love music, you feel me and I was always around it growing up. So my father had got locked up and then at that point it was like, how am I about to do this? Like I got to take this serious, you feel me. So then I started taking it serious and started working out good for him For real. For real, I was able to pay for his lawyers and stuff.

Speaker 1:

Off the music. Yeah, shit.

Speaker 2:

Moved my mom out the hood. It just started going good for me. I ain't gonna lie.

Speaker 1:

Love that for you, yeah, so talk to me about your favorites growing up, because you said I've always loved music. What was the moment you fell in love? Project-wise. Let's talk about project.

Speaker 2:

I gotta say Future probably Dirty Sprite.

Speaker 1:

What you came in off the Toxic tip, that's crazy.

Speaker 2:

I mean, of course, I've been love music before that, but that project right there, that was the one and Dream Chasers 2, I think I was listening to that heavy. So Future and Meek for sure Shit yeah.

Speaker 1:

You toxic. What's your sign? Sad, oh my God. Fuck you stressing me out right now. You listen to Future and you a Sagittarius.

Speaker 2:

Yep.

Speaker 1:

Goodness, gracious Pluto, oh my God, okay, you know what. This gracious Pluto? Oh my god, okay, you know what?

Speaker 2:

This makes a lot of sense. What's your sign? I'm learning a lot. I'm a Leo, oh Leo. See, I don't really live my life over that Like, I don't really know too much like the ins and outs and the you feel me, yeah, but I know a lot of people that dare live life over what's her name. Oh, you're this way. I don't believe in that. I do Because you're saying everybody at yes, how's that similar characteristic?

Speaker 1:

that's not, that's not real to me it's like being from similar tribes that is not real to me.

Speaker 2:

That is, I feel like that's like a, like a mind thing or something like I don't know well, you don't gotta believe it, I do, it's okay, it's okay.

Speaker 1:

But um all right, so you've been giving us a few singles since fisher, fisher, fisher. Is it Fisher or for sure? That's another thing, for sure.

Speaker 2:

No, for sure.

Speaker 1:

For sure. Yeah, but we're saying for sure, it means that man y'all fucking me up, but it's for sure I can't keep up with this. For sure, no, for sure, for sure, for sure.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

For sure. Okay, so you pronounce it F-O-R-S-U-R-E.

Speaker 2:

Let's just say it like this it's going to be easy, for sure, like F-A-S-U-R-E, for sure no, but like don't say er For sure, for sure. You're saying, for sure you got me feeling crazy. For sure.

Speaker 1:

For sure, yes, for sure.

Speaker 2:

Yes.

Speaker 1:

For for sure, for sure. Yes, lord, have mercy, okay, alright, you know what I grew up dyslexic. Bear with me what I grew up dyslexic, like words flip for me when I read all types of shit when I'm in the studio.

Speaker 2:

It's like that too, sometimes, like when I'm trying to say certain words together it's hard.

Speaker 1:

It's hard just like say it it'd take me like.

Speaker 2:

I'm just saying I'm like yo what's wrong?

Speaker 1:

But you are originally from Queens correct being from Queens. A lot of legends come from Queens, a lot of facts. No pressure, but you got 50.

Speaker 2:

There's a lot of legends.

Speaker 1:

You got Nikki Talk to me about just growing up in that environment and seeing people you know from the same.

Speaker 2:

I feel like Queens is just so lit Like if you're from Queens. You so lit Like if you from Queens. You just ill, like I don't know, like it's just all over, like everything, Like you're going to feel our presence, you feel me. That's how I feel for real, for real about Queens. I got it on my neck. Look this is for real.

Speaker 1:

Dedicated. I love it.

Speaker 2:

It's on my hands too. Queens, get the money.

Speaker 1:

Queens get the money. Oh, okay, okay.

Speaker 2:

That's what I mean, qgtm.

Speaker 1:

Got it Yo. I fuck with Queens. I call myself Honorary Queens. I went to St John's.

Speaker 2:

I live there. Where are you from Maryland? Oh, you're from Maryland. Okay, shout out to Maryland.

Speaker 1:

Went to St John's.

Speaker 2:

Lived in Queens, so how did you go, you from Maryland? I just moved here oh what so you moved here when 2013. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, so I've been here a long time, so you're really from here for real Half-life, where you grew up, like your teenage years. That's where you from.

Speaker 1:

Look, I always say raised in Maryland, but New York made me Like I got made here. I like that, yeah, I like that, yeah, yeah, yeah. But damn, this shit was not easy. A lot of people don't be trying to give New York out. Props, man, this shit is not. New York is not easy. It's not Fuck, it's not. I went through depressions, all types of shit in this city, but I lived in Fresh Meadows and Ozone Park.

Speaker 2:

Okay. So yeah, it was around that area, it wasn't too far.

Speaker 1:

No, I love it. Queens is great and I'm just happy to see so many bussing people coming from Queens right now.

Speaker 2:

I feel good man, the town, not only just Queens, just everywhere. I like to see everybody win. Everybody's not like that, but I'm that kind of person. I want to see everybody win. We don't got you from the same borough, wherever you're from, I want to see you win. I'm happy for you. Like, a lot of people don't be happy for each other and I feel like that's what it's like. I don't know, I was just raised differently. Like I don't know.

Speaker 1:

Well, I definitely think I just had Capella on the show not too long ago.

Speaker 2:

I just ran into him.

Speaker 1:

Oh, you ran into him. Yeah, Okay, okay, he was saying like yeah, New.

Speaker 2:

Yo, you know he Capella. Why you doing that? I know you on some big New York shit, but it's cool. We all can win together, capella come on.

Speaker 1:

But the positive is that the new generation of New York is winning together. I feel like it was so much gatekeeping in old New York.

Speaker 2:

Nah, it was yeah.

Speaker 1:

But now you know what I'm saying it's you, it's Capella, as he was saying, it's Ice, it's Cobain, it's like it's actually really cool to see. How did we get here?

Speaker 2:

Hard work, hard work. Like you said, it was hard, but you got to thug it out. You got to keep going. Don't stop. I feel like that's the devil. You stop and yeah why I know. Sometimes it might get hard or you might feel like you're not going nowhere, you might feel like it's taking longer than others, but you've seen others doing the same thing you're doing today. You wait faster. You gotta just wait your turn. Yeah, that's all.

Speaker 1:

Everybody got a chance, everybody well, let's get into this, because I see you've been catering to the women lately. Was it sundress? Oh yeah, yeah, sundress. Talk to me about that. What Are you pandering us?

Speaker 2:

Sundress, that was another day in the studio. We was just vibing. Tata called me. I told him pull up. I was on like my third song by the time he came, and then we just cooked up and that happened.

Speaker 1:

So really, it just be parties in the studio. Yeah, for real, that's how all the inspiration is coming. Yeah, damn man, parties in the studio. I need to come to the fucking studio. I want to party, you do? You need to come? You need to come. And what about Worldwide Sniper?

Speaker 2:

I made that in Cash's bedroom.

Speaker 1:

Oh, wow bedroom.

Speaker 2:

Oh wow Facts. His studio is in his bedroom. Yeah, wow, but I wasn't even using his studio because he uses FL. Okay, I don't know how to like open it up and do the auto-tune and stuff.

Speaker 1:

Fruity Loops is the easiest one.

Speaker 2:

What do you use? I use Pro Tools.

Speaker 1:

Okay, Pro Tools is not bad.

Speaker 2:

So, cash, I forgot what he was. We was all in the house. I forgot what he was doing that day, though, but I think he was just tired or something, so I called my engineer and he came with the setup, and I just recorded it in his room when I when I was in the middle of mating it oh, you should have seen it. I knew it was fire because, like, I'll be asking all the bros for their opinion while I'm making it, though I'm making, I'm going crazy. I'm like, nah, cash, he come in the room. I'm like, listen to this, he start dancing, he like nah this fire.

Speaker 2:

I'm like nah, this fire, right, I just kept going. But yeah, I made it in his bedroom, that's tough.

Speaker 1:

Thanks, love that. I like the community. I really do like to see it. It's overdue, I'm All right. So on, we Need to Talk. We play this game called Questions that Need Answers.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 1:

All you have to do is fill in the blank. Okay, all right. The older I get, the less I.

Speaker 2:

Think.

Speaker 1:

Think what the hell you mean by that. I don't think I like that. What do you mean?

Speaker 2:

Because I don't think anymore, I just do.

Speaker 1:

Is that because you're older, you listen to future, you're fucking sad and you don't think stop, yeah, not yet I don't know. He said I just do, or do you just mean, like, um, intuitively, like you just trust?

Speaker 2:

trust your vision. You trust my vision. I just go along with it. I don't be thinking, I just go I like that.

Speaker 1:

That shows just more self assurance.

Speaker 2:

God walks me through the right, you know, so I don't even.

Speaker 1:

But okay, you would never believe me if I told you.

Speaker 2:

I'm about to say something just now. I'm glad I ain't saying it.

Speaker 1:

No, say it, say it. Nah. I can't say that, yes, you can. I can't say that alright, fine. I can't say that.

Speaker 2:

Yes, you can. I can't say that, alright, fine, I can't say that. That was the only thing that was on my mind too. I'm glad I didn't say that just now what I was about to say. Oh my gosh, what the fuck was you about to say? It's crazy shit. Okay, just give me another one, alright, alright.

Speaker 1:

From time to time, what's good to do.

Speaker 2:

Massages.

Speaker 1:

Massages yeah, back massage, feet massage, whatever, everything, all of it.

Speaker 2:

Because you be ripping and running. You need a good massage or spa day sometimes.

Speaker 1:

I feel that I mean nothing but a word. I made a complete fool of myself when I dated Aquarius. Damn, I fuck with Aquarius. Alright, so Aquarius is off your list. Totally Alright, says the guy who. I don't believe in the signs and shit, but you ain't fucking with Aquarius oh okay, okay, alright. Sometimes I look back at my life and blink.

Speaker 2:

Sometimes I look back at my life and think how far I came. Came a long way, man, and I still got more to go. But I'm here, I'm thugging, we're going to keep going. Might be some bumps in the road, you feel me, but we here, you feel me. Do you have aspirations outside of music? I like fashion, I like dressing. That's another thing. I don't think A lot of people think you gotta put on Name brands, big name brands, to be fly. It's not about that. You gotta know how to. I could go spend $200 and make it look like $5,000. You feel me? That's what it's about. A lot of y'all. I hope y'all taking notes. Man, stop going to louis and looking like a mannequin, right?

Speaker 1:

yeah, it's not it I feel like that's the um atlanta thing no disrespect, but I can't.

Speaker 2:

They look like man, because you gotta know how to put it together right.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, sure I agree with that, all right, all right. My last one is my personality. Oh wait, no, an ideal world would be blank.

Speaker 2:

I'll let you answer that one.

Speaker 1:

What you mean you're going to.

Speaker 2:

Let me answer that one, an ideal world would be.

Speaker 1:

For you? What's an ideal world for you? I don't know. You don't know what you want.

Speaker 2:

I just want, I want to have four girlfriends All right, all right, all right.

Speaker 1:

They all cool with each other. Next question is they?

Speaker 2:

all can just be happy together and there's no complaining. I don't know. I just want to live life. Man. A lot of girls just complain, like why we can't just be happy All together. We could just be happy and live a great life together and go out and just party and just get drunk and just take trips and just have fun. You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1:

Yo leave me alone.

Speaker 2:

You can't be serious. You can't be fucking serious, like just be happy no, nigga no no, not on some real shit, though.

Speaker 2:

Right on that aspect, right like when girls be dealing with certain kind of people, when I, when I say I artists, let me say let me say artists, okay, let's say this please stop girls be dealing with artists. You got to understand. Not even just artists, just men. Niggas is niggas, man, niggas gonna do their thing regardless, period. If you dealing with somebody and they you found out they dealing with like it's gonna happen regardless, you go leave him and go to the next man, it's gonna happen. So you might as well stay with that person that you love and just deal with it Because, like, at the end of the day, as long as he making sure that you know that you the one that you know that you get what I'm trying to say, he come late with you every night, he do what he got to do for you, it should be fine, because a nigga can go fuck a bitch and not care about her.

Speaker 2:

Yo cut this nigga's mic. Cut the mic A nigga can Word real shit A nigga can. I know I can. I can go fuck a bitch and not even care about her.

Speaker 1:

Because you listen to Future.

Speaker 2:

It's not because I listen to Future, it is because you listen to Future Put up. It's not because I listen to Future, though, but look, course it's hard to take it, but it's like just I don't know Y'all get what I'm saying though.

Speaker 1:

Okay, okay, okay okay, I'm bugging For real. These niggas don't want to take a side. Why y'all not taking a side? Is he bugging yes or no?

Speaker 2:

As long as I'm holding shit down and you good, and you both.

Speaker 1:

Nobody has anything to say.

Speaker 2:

That means they secretly agree look, but look, it's real shit.

Speaker 1:

If you know you good, you know you the one if you don't, if you don't say nothing, you're a rich. You know, you, the one oh yeah.

Speaker 2:

I think it was in the future fuck, I'm telling you real shit, though, like you know you the one you know I don't the shit I do too. I don't do it with these females.

Speaker 1:

All right, all right.

Speaker 2:

It shouldn't be a problem.

Speaker 1:

All right, all right all right, all right, I can't take no more. Look, I hear you. So what if you're dealing with a woman who's bringing something to the table? Is she allowed to go do what she do? And then it's okay, because you know you're the one at the end of the day.

Speaker 2:

No.

Speaker 1:

No, okay, that's just how the world is.

Speaker 2:

I'm sorry, men just have that advantage. And that's just how the world is. It sucks, but that's just what it is. Y'all cannot, once you go, do another dick, it's over. You're supposed to hold this shit down.

Speaker 1:

That shit makes no sense. That's just what it is, though. That shit makes no sense.

Speaker 2:

It literally don't make sense, but that's what it is.

Speaker 1:

So you really do want a four-girlfriend. No, you don't think that's a lot to juggle.

Speaker 2:

Four-girlfriends is a lot to juggle Everybody needs attention. I was joking on that aspect but yeah, I do want some females in this world to, just if you know, like I just said, if you know you want them to be okay with you fucking other people because you're a rapper, not even just like that, damn, you're making it sound so crazy. That's what you said.

Speaker 1:

I'm just repeating back what you said.

Speaker 2:

I'm just saying, if you know this nigga holding it down and you know that he really love you and he got you bro, you gotta just understand him for him.

Speaker 1:

I hear you. I don't know if I understand, but I hear you. I think respect is one thing.

Speaker 2:

Obviously I'm not going. It's respect. I'm not going to do this shit in front of your face. I'm crazy.

Speaker 1:

I can't even when am I going with this interview? I'm crazy. You're not crazy, but I don't agree. Honestly, I'll say I used to be a really big Future fan. Dirty Sprite too. I feel like pinnacle for me. Then after that, I don't know, I started listening to the things he was actually saying and I was like wait, I don't really agree with this. I don't like this. I don't feel this Rob Markman. It's okay.

Speaker 2:

We all got our own different opinions on it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. But then I told myself, like I'll never date a nigga that listens future. Oh shit, I'm joking. Well, I'm not, but I am at the same time. But okay anyway. Um, all right, so you've been dropping singles. Are we gonna get a tape?

Speaker 2:

yeah, yeah, when I don't know okay, but it's in the works yeah, yeah, it's ready for real.

Speaker 1:

And it's a sexy drill tape completely. Yeah, yeah, okay.

Speaker 2:

Name. I don't know the name, but I want to say this I make all types of different music. You do so. Right now I'm just on my sexy shit, but if y'all want to hear some other shit too, I got everything. You feel me. I just want to throw that out there. I'm very versatile, Very versatile.

Speaker 1:

I could sing rap rap, yeah, but you definitely got a big sexy drill audience, right now For sure. That's a huge one For sure. But okay, so the tape is on the way. What else do we have going on? It's a New York City summer, so I just feel like we should be I'm about to drop this song called Make it.

Speaker 2:
