Well welcome to our final podcast for 2022. Uh, season two's been great for us with the podcast. We hope you've enjoyed listening to it. And we're coming up to Christmas time, time of year where a lot of us take a break. We shut down maybe our businesses. We go in line with the courts, um, sitting day. So basically the courts don't sit over the Christmas period unless it's urgent or criminal matters. Um, so we take a break as well and so do many of our law firms that we work for. So it's a really good time to take a few weeks away, relax and recharge. We hope you're looking forward to Christmas. We hope you're looking forward to catching up with friends and family. We do also understand that there's many people out there who won't have loved ones at the table with them on Christmas Day or around that time. They won't be able to catch up with them simply because that person might have gone missing. They may not have contact anymore, they may have moved on, they may have had a falling out and lost details and no longer know where they are. So with that in mind, what we wanted to do was offer to our listeners or to your friends and family, a one-off chance to be reunited with somebody, whether that's a family member or a friend or someone who's no longer part of your life that was part of your life and you've always wondered where they are or what they're doing and you don't have their contact details. You don't know how to get in contact with them. Skip tracing is a huge part of what we do. We find missing people for many reasons, and we love reuniting family and friends. Nothing gives us more satisfaction than seeing a family reunited or friends reunited through using our skip tracing services. So if you or someone you know is gonna have someone missing this Christmas, not that they're deceased, and we, we really feel sorry for those ones who may have lost a loved one through the year, but maybe it's someone that you haven't seen for years and haven't caught up with and you want to catch up with them or, or make contact contacted this time. Why don't you get in touch with us? Send us an email and we will converse with you. We'll talk to you about what we can do and this will all be free of charge. Send us your details. Uh, mention the podcast, mention what I'm talking about, the free skip tracing, and we will do our best to locate that person for you or for a family member or a friend. Simply email us info down under investigations.com. Send us the information you have, mention the podcast, mention free skip tracing as well. Maybe make that the subject and we would love to do that, but we want genuine cases only where it is a family member or a friend that you have lost touch with and you want to be reunited. You want their detail so you can make contact, whether that's an address, an email or phone number, whatever we can find. Um, our skip tracing services are highly successful. So, and then prepare yourself for if we do find them, how you're gonna approach them, how are you gonna contact them, but um, we can talk about that once you make contact with us. So info down under investigations.com, offering some free skip tracing over this Christmas period. I want you to imagine with me if you will, that this is either you or your partner.

Okay, so I just checked into this Airbnb and I think I found a camera and the bathroom here's with the lights off and flash on. Does that look like a camera to you guys or am I tripping? Like that looks like a camera, right? And there's so many throughout the Airbnb. Um, is this legal?

Speaker 2:

Imagine you in that situation, what would you do? You've checked into a hotel or you've used a public bathroom or at a private residence and you've done what you need to do, maybe got changed or had a shower or just just moved into a room and you notice a camera, a hidden camera, a spy camera. What do you look for? How do you find a spy camera? I wanted to share this with you guys because I think this is helpful, especially at this time when a lot of us scale away on holidays. We stay in unfamiliar places, we stay in different rooms, we use different facilities, different areas get changed to use bathrooms, showers, et cetera. And there has been a rise in the amount of hidden cameras that people are finding in these sorts of areas. It's totally illegal to do anything like that, to put a camera in an area that is private, that someone's gonna do something that's private and people have and will be charged by police if they get caught doing such things. So how do we find a hidden camera? Firstly, you've gotta look somewhere where a camera would be placed. Usually if you were gonna put a camera in a room, where would you put that? Most cameras are hidden in higher locations like in the ceiling, in air vents, in the ceiling, or smoke detectors, air conditioning. What can you see from up there? You can see the whole room. That's why most hidden cameras are placed in high areas. Although it's not always possible to find a hidden camera's body, you'll always be able to see a lens. The lens will be pointed in the direction of the room to take in everything that's in the room. A hidden camera may be concealed in many different household items and maybe not too easy to find. For example, as I've said, smoke detectors, air conditioning units, plugs and sockets, pens, stuffed toys, clocks, books, artwork, plants. So here are top five steps to find most hidden cameras. Number one, visually scan the area looking for spy cameras and lenses. The camera will be in view as its lens can only record what is visible to it. So look around the room, look carefully. Take a minute to look in every corner, look at things on the mantle piece. Look at different areas of the room. Look higher, look low. And you may be able to simply see a camera because a lot of people are very amateur with the way they hide a camera. Number two, check for keyholes or small holes in walls or any other crevice that might hide a camera. Run your handle or fingers along those parts that appear damaged or changed. Number three, use a radio frequency detector to locate hidden cameras. A radio frequency detector is a portable electronic device that can be used to find and identify hidden cameras. It can also detect the cameras radio frequency emissions. Number four, search using infrared imaging on a mobile phone camera or an infrared detector to find hidden cameras. This step is very useful. If you don't have a dedicated device that you can use to carry out this search, you can use either an infrared detector or simply your mobile phone camera. Point your camera around the room and see if there are any red dots on the screen. Usually cameras use infrared to enhance their images in the dark. And number five, use a torch in a dark room to find reflective services and objects cuz you know what reflects a camera lens. And there are top five ways to find a hidden camera. Got

It's time for your favorite part of our podcast. It's the top five list being Christmas. We thought we give you the top five great Christmas ideas that you may not have thought of that it to do with the investigation and security industries. So number one, we recommend a home surveillance camera or doorbell camera. There's lots of great brands out there. So there's some very simple ones to install like Ring or Arlo or Swan. You're gonna be spending between a hundred dollars and$500 for one or a couple of cameras. Uh, you can access them via your phone via an app so you can see who's coming and going from your property. They also have motion detection. Some come with lights, some come with infrared features, which is brilliant to basically keep your home secure. Number two on the great Christmas to Ideas list is some antivirus software. This is a bit cheaper, one of those cheaper options, but effective antivirus software protects your computer from spyware and viruses. There's some great brands out there like McAfee Trend, Norton Kaspersky, and they range from anywhere from$25 to a hundred dollars. They're definitely a great gift idea to help a friend protect or family member protect their laptop or pc. Number three, great Christmas ideas are vehicle dash cam. Some vehicles these days come with the MI built, but some of the older models definitely don't. And you can get a dash cam, which basically sits up alongside your rear view mirror. Um, very easy to install plugs into your cigarette lighter or your usb IT records when there's an accident. You can set it different settings to record when you want to at any time. So they're a great device when you're in an accident to get evidence of who's at fault, especially if it's not you. Number four on our great Christmas list ideas is A R F I D blocking purse or wallet. R F I D is radio frequency identification. Your credit cards come with that and can, that identification can be easily stolen through certain devices by hackers. Simply when you are walking around with your wallet through the streets or in your office. Hopefully not in your office, you don't have those people working with you. But wherever you go, someone can access that information. These wallets basically block that information from being able to be processed and and obtained by a hacker. So those costs between$20 and maybe$300 depending on the quality, the type of wallet or purse. And they are brilliant. And our number five is a solar motion detecting garden or outdoor lights. So you can get these lights they're operating with solely, you put'em in your front yard. If someone comes into your yard, it basically lights up. Very good effective idea to deter a possible thief. And they operate either with motion sensor or you can get them on a timer so they come on at certain times and offer at certain times. Motion detection's great, but the only problem is it may pick up a cat or a dog or other animal when they come on the property, but they only turn on for a minute or so enough to deter any thief. So there are top five great Christmas list ideas. Hopefully you've got something useful out of that. So that pretty much wraps it up for us for the year and the podcast. I'd like to thank you all for listening. We wanna wish you all a merry Christmas, a happy new year to all our clients and colleagues and friends and family who've supported this podcast and had a listen.
