I take a minute to unravel how getting lost in experiences that captivate us can warp our sense of time, leading us to a state of pure presence. Here's to another day of intentional living!

Speaker 1:

Well, hello teachers, and welcome to your Monday Mindset podcast episode. These are short, little snippets of thoughts, reflections that I share with you on a weekly basis, that are focused around mindset things that we can do to live our best lives, to live an intentional life, and I invite you to not just listen to these for yourself and how they apply to you in your life, but consider sharing them with other people too. Consider sharing them with your students every Monday and having a conversation about it and doing a reflection together, because I think a lot of these thoughts, these topics, these questions are just a part of being human, and sometimes being human can feel lonely and to know that other people are struggling through some of the same challenges that you are and are benefiting from having these types of conversations is hugely powerful in allowing us to get to be the best version of ourselves, to take who we are and who we be and who we show up in the world as to that next level. So I really hope that you enjoy these Monday Mindsets and, if you do, let us know over on our Instagram at Evie Academics. Thanks so much for listening and let's dive into our Monday Mindset.

Speaker 1:

So I saw this GIF recently where it talked about if you want to slow time down, just do a 60-second plank, because you're like, so hyper-focused on the clock that it goes by so slowly, it takes forever, because it's miserable. You're just so unhappy and don't want to be doing that plank anymore. And I think it ties into this idea of forgetting what time it is, because when we forget to look at the clock, when we are not so worried about how long something's taking or whatever it might be, we are paying more attention to those things in our lives like people, relationships, activities, experiences, those types of things that make us forget to check our phone, that make us forget to pull it out and scroll mindlessly on Instagram. And I think it's just such a great reminder, a healthy reminder for us, especially in today's digital age where we're so distracted by our phones, so distracted by our watches, so distracted by all of the doingness and busyness of life, to just be more present, to just be more being in the moment. We're human beings, not human doings. I'm sure you guys have heard that before.

Speaker 1:

And when we forget what time it is because we are so engrossed in what we are doing, it allows us to be truly grateful, to really foster that well-being, that connectedness to everything in this life that brings us joy, that brings us happiness, that brings us peace, that immerses ourselves in things that just boost what makes our soul happy, that brings meaning to our lives. And so, as we head into this week, I want you to think about what can you do this week that's going to make you forget what time it is? What can you go do where you are so present that you forget to check the clock. You don't even care to check the clock because you are so there. You are so grateful to have that in your life. So forget what time it is this week and live this week intentionally.
