Here's to another day of intentional living!

Speaker 1:

Well, hello teachers, and welcome to your Monday Mindset podcast episode. These are short, little snippets of thoughts, reflections that I share with you on a weekly basis, that are focused around mindset things that we can do to live our best lives, to live an intentional life, and I invite you to not just listen to these for yourself and how they apply to you in your life, but consider sharing them with other people too. Consider sharing them with your students every Monday and having a conversation about it and doing a reflection together, because I think a lot of these thoughts, these topics, these questions are just a part of being human, and sometimes being human can feel lonely and to know that other people are struggling through some of the same challenges that you are and are benefiting from having these types of conversations is hugely powerful in allowing us to get to be the best version of ourselves, to take who we are and who we be and who we show up in the world as to that next level. So I really hope that you enjoy these Monday Mindsets and, if you do, let us know over on our Instagram at Evie Academics. Thanks so much for listening and let's dive into our Monday Mindset. This one is so good.

Speaker 1:

I am so excited to talk about today's Monday Mindset, about changing the way that you worry. So I once heard somebody say one of my friends who's a psychologist said to me you know, if you're going to spend time worrying about the worst case scenario, then it's only fair to imagine the best case scenario too. And this is such a simple change in mindset and perspective that can make a huge difference on the outcomes of your life. So I want to talk about this. So the first point with this is you know we're really focusing on balancing perspectives. When we spend so much time worrying about the worst case scenario, that is extremely draining. It is anxiety inducing. Think about the emotional state that you are operating in when you are constantly worried about something. It's a waste of time to be worrying about things that might happen that are actually probably not going to happen, like the likelihood of that worst case scenario happen is probably very low. And trust me, when I say this, like I'm talking to myself, I have definite worst case scenario thoughts for sure. And when we also imagine the best case scenario, we're able to create balance in our perspective. And what this does is this shift allows you to approach challenges with actually a more hopeful and optimistic outlook.

Speaker 1:

So if we've balanced both perspectives worst case and best case scenario around, whatever the issue is at hand and we choose to go with, like maybe the best case scenario could happen, our perspective, our thoughts, our beliefs, our focus are all around that hopeful intended outcome and like, so what's the worst that could happen? We get let down. But like, why would we do that? Why would we focus on the worst case scenario when, if the worst case scenario happens, we're let down? But the best case scenario? If we focus on the best case scenario and we're let down, we're let down anyways. But when we focus on the best case scenario, I'm not sitting in worry and anxiety and that emotional state for weeks on end or months on end or days on end or whatever it might be.

Speaker 1:

So it's only fair to also imagine the best case scenario, like we talked about two Mondays ago. It's this or something better or offering to your brain. How much better can it get, as opposed to being so attached to an outcome that you don't want to happen? What if we just put out there what we do want to happen and then we just hope for the best? I mean that seems like a pretty positive way to go about living your life to me. And the other thing with this, too, is when we imagine the best case scenario. Right, not only have we shifted into a more hopeful and optimistic outlook, but now we can actually harness the power of visualization.

Speaker 1:

So imagining the best case scenario, that is a form of positive visualization, and this is actually a technique that is used in sports psychology. It's something that's used in personal development space. And if we vividly picture our positive outcome so we vividly picture, like, the thing that we want to happen, the intended desired result then we're actually programming our mind to focus on solutions and possibilities. So our perspective and the way in which we see things totally shifts and changes rather than dwelling on, you know, potential failures or things that might go awry. So that's another positive to imagining the best case scenario. Well, then we get into thinking about, like, okay, well, the mindset shift here. So when we adopt a mindset that includes imagining the best case scenario, now we are actively shaping our reality. So this is going to go down the woo path a little bit here. When we have a different mindset, when we have a different perspective, we have a different mindset. When we have a different perspective, we are going to subconsciously, consciously, start to take actions toward that intended best case scenario result or that intended worst case scenario result. So I don't know about you, but like I would rather manifest positive outcomes as opposed to negative ones, as opposed to worst case scenarios, and this all comes down to like manifesting positive outcomes.

Speaker 1:

This belief in the law of attraction. And the law of attraction suggests that what we focus on expands. So by consistently imagining the best case scenario, by visualizing that, you are more likely to attract those positive outcomes into your life. Think about that. That simple change in mindset can actually lead to tangible improvements in all areas of your life, from personal relationships to career success.

Speaker 1:

I talk to my son about this all the time. Like I, I believe and this is my belief, and everyone's entitled to their own beliefs I believe that, like, the number one thing is the belief in the intended outcome that you have. Like that's the thing. And so my son always talks to me granted, he's six and a half, but he's like I want to be an MLB player, and like who am I to say he can't be, you know? So I just say to him you know, whatever you want to do is possible. Anything is possible.

Speaker 1:

But I'm like, if you want to do that, not only are you going to have to work hard, not only are you going to have to be dedicated to this sport you know I want. He has to believe that he can actually do it. That's what I tell him. I said you got to work hard, but you also got to believe, and I think that this ties directly into that of believing the best case scenario as opposed to the worst case scenario. You know, let's live our lives, like I say every week, intentionally. Let's focus on the things that we want to expand by imagining the best case scenario as opposed to the worst case scenario. So change the way in which you worry and don't worry because it's all going to be okay. Everything always works out exactly as it's supposed to. All right, you guys. Here's to another great week of living intentionally.
