00:00:21
Good day, everyone. All my listeners out there, I'd like to welcome to is your way in your way podcast. And I'm your host. My name is Cassandra Crawley Mayo. And for those new listeners out there, let me share with you what this podcast is all about.

00:00:36
This is for individuals who are ready to move forward in their lives. They want to overcome obstacles, they want to mitigate those self imposed barriers, those negative self talk, that negative talk, those limiting beliefs that's preventing you from living your best life. And for those who are not aware, is the name of my debut book is called is your way in your way. And wow. That's why I'm calling this podcast, is your way in your way.

00:01:14
We talk about topics related to business and personal development and self improvement. And today we have a special guest on. Her name is Gabriellele Pimstone, and our topic today is energy mastery, the game changer. So let's welcome Gabriellele to the stage. Well, hello, Gabriellele.

00:01:36
Hello, Cassandra. And hello to all your guests. Lovely to be here. Yeah, I'm glad you are here. Thank you.

00:01:42
And hey, listeners, Gabrielle's from Australia. In the event that you hear that lovely accent, just so you know, she's dialing in from Australia. I think that's phenomenal. Before we get started, I'm going to read a little bit of her bio, so you get to know who she is, and then we're going to take a deep dive into some questions. Now, Gabriellele Pimstone worked in corporate psychology career in a corporate psychology career for 27 years.

00:02:17
But a chance podcast encounter altered the course of her life. She is now an energy coach, helping those feeling burnt out and stuck. She teaches powerful energy techniques for self healing and navigating major life transitions so people can live a renewed purpose and passion. Again, welcome. I can't wait to hear about this podcast.

00:02:43
But before we get started, that podcast that changed your life, just to let people know how powerful some podcasts can. Be, very much, yeah. For you to tell of your backstory up until you left your corporate job, like what was going on with Gabriellele before that corporate job? A lot was going on. Some of it really great, some of it really not great.

00:03:11
And that's the essence of when we finally change, is when things have gotten to that point where we are deeply dissatisfied with our lives. We typically don't change unless there's a catalyst. So for mine, it was a growing dissatisfaction with my work and how that impacted my well being. So maybe just to start by saying that I had a really great career for about 25 years when I was young, I've always been interested in psychology. I've always worked on myself.

00:03:50
I got into therapy at a young age. I started working on my dreams when I was about eight years old. I've been journaling since about eight years old. So it was really logical when it got to deciding what I was going to study at university, that I would go into the field of psychology. And I chose organizational psychology, loved it, got into the workplace, had some incredible opportunities, worked with incredible people, incredible organizations, and my identity was deeply tied up to my work.

00:04:25
And then what happened was, in 2020, I was in a senior leadership role in a bank here in Australia, and it signaled the end of my career. I was deeply stressed, anxious, wasn't sleeping. I actually got physically sick. My thyroid flared up again, and I woke up on a Sunday morning with this awful feeling in the pit of my stomach. I felt sick physically.

00:04:56
I was really tensed up, and I tuned in. I was in bed, and I just closed my eyes and tuned into myself and asked the question, what's going on? What is this about? And I realized really quickly that sensation of butterflies and anxiety in my stomach was because the following day was Monday and I had to go to work. Wow.

00:05:20
Yeah. And so I took myself off that day for a walk and listened to the podcast, and that's what really catalyzed me into making changes in my life. So what if I were to kind of put a psychological lens onto this? I think that I got to a point where my identity was shifting. What once served me no longer served me.

00:05:44
The things that I started to see in corporate, I hadn't actually seen for over 20 years. I started really getting tripped up by the bureaucracy, whereas in the past, I was kind of chill about it. I used to get work in the area of organizational politics, but I could move around it. I taught people how to navigate through politics, and then it got to a point where it felt so toxic that I couldn't engage with it anymore. So at an identity level, the things that fueled me stopped fueling me, and everything came to a head on that Sunday.

00:06:25
Okay, wow, that's interesting, because there are listeners that I have that are not. Mondays seemed to be a really tough time for many people. Not all people, but just dreading to go in the workplace, but yet many of them just stay there. But that particular Monday you took off, I call it a mental health day that you need to take off and kind of do some self reflection about what's going on with you. Why were you feeling like you're feeling, although you kind of knew the bureaucracy was becoming a challenge.

00:07:04
But that particular day, I am so curious to what in the world was the name of that podcast that made you pivot and change with your career? It's like it just changed your life. What was that podcast? To be honest with you, somebody asked me that question last week on a podcast. I don't remember the name of the podcast, and I have since looked it up.

00:07:27
Oprah was the interviewer, she was the host, but her guest was just an ordinary citizen who was talking about her journey, feeling really locked into anxiety. So I don't remember the name. I haven't been able to find it. But Oprah was the guest and Oprah was the host, and it was transformative and really did turn my life around. Do you remember what it was about?

00:07:55
Yes, I absolutely do. So this woman was being interviewed because she told her story about her daughter, who'd gotten married and who was now expecting her first child, but years before, I don't know how many years, maybe ten years before, had been in a really bad car accident and had had to learn to walk again. And what was going on for this woman was really my story. It resonated so much because she had so much to look forward to in her life now, because her daughter had recovered fully, was expecting her first child, she was going to be a grandmother for the first time, and yet she couldn't enjoy the moment. She was always waiting for the other shoe to fall.

00:08:48
And it was my whole life, I had always been waiting for the other shoe to fall because I lost my father when I was nine and he was ill from when I was five. So that sense of waiting for the other shoe to drop had been with me all my life. And then I'd chosen a career that had initially given me so much joy, but was now adding to the sense of stress, anxiety, dread, trepidation. All the things that I'd lived with were now amped up because of the environment that I was in. Right.

00:09:22
And when she spoke about her story, I was on this walk. I kind of, again, tuned in, and I remembered something I'd once heard about, this idea of an invisible spiritual prism that we live in, which is getting in your way. Right?

00:09:44
Those invisible bars, they keep us trapped. In my case, it was feeling trapped and being trapped in this ongoing cycle of anxiety and not being able to shake it. And there's this beautiful quote by the Sufi poet Rumi, who says something along the lines of, why do you stay in prison when the door is wide open and isn't that beautiful. And I realized, yeah, that anxiety had become my invisible prison and it was getting in my way, and that was my inflection point. Yeah.

00:10:25
Well, I'm asking because many of my listeners are ready to move on from their jobs. What was that like? How did you, that transition was that difficult because you had been in it for 20 some years. You were comfortable, but you were not comfortable, but that's something that you always had gone to.

00:10:50
I understand what made you decide to leave, but what was that like when you did leave, how were you feeling? What was going on internally? That's a great question. So it was actually a Sunday that I woke up. I woke up with a Sunday blues early on a Sunday morning.

00:11:07
And so on the Monday morning, I phoned the employee assistance program. We've got that in Australia. Usually each employee here has got counseling. And I called them, first time I'd ever called them, said, and I spoke through my dilemma and I decided in that call that I was going to resign. So I then spoke to my boss at the time, immediately afterwards.

00:11:28
And I resigned from the job that day. Yes. But I didn't leave corporate immediately because it was a transition. And so what I did was I changed my relationship to corporate. I stepped away from these in house senior leadership roles and I became a consultant.

00:11:50
I'd had a lot of consulting experience in my past, and so I consulted from the outside in, which made it more tolerable, although again, over time, the same. The toxicity, the corporate politics, the bureaucracy, those things started to, they were still affecting me. I couldn't engage with a system where that was so prevalent. So it took another inflection point about 18 months later, maybe a year later, for me to actually then say, enough.

00:12:25
Like many people, when we make changes in our lives, my change was gradual. It was an evolution, and I did that purposefully because it's stressful enough. Change is stressful enough, yes. I needed a safety net. I needed to really manage the risk.

00:12:49
So I didn't throw the baby out with bathwater, so to speak. It was a phased approach. Wow, you were very courageous. What you did took courage, and I liked it when you said you were wise. You were like, well, I'm not going to immediately quit what I'll do, because I'm going to use the skills that I have.

00:13:14
I could be a consultant and to gradually give you more time to really think about it, to assess it and then realize that, yes, I know I'm doing the right thing. I think I'm going to just really give me an opportunity to step back. So I applaud your courage and I applaud your wisdom, because we don't want individuals to just not liking what they do, and they just quit with nothing else, nothing else in mind. And then their problems become exasperated even more because they've done something and they can't afford to even live. But when you listen to that podcast, where did the energy mastery come from?

00:13:57
What is that? So that happened a little while after that because I was on Instagram and an advert popped up, and it was an advert for a three day long weekend workshop. You paid $10 and more of a marketing thing. But I thought you were going to go. And that guy actually landed up.

00:14:20
Being my teacher, it was all about energy work. And the reason that I was attracted to it was because I was stuck. So all the typical, the way that I had resolved issues in the past, which typically had a psychological bent to them, no longer were working for me. I needed to find I was stuck. The dial wasn't shifting.

00:14:42
The anxiety would not leave me. And so when I attended this three day seminar, I realized that if I work at the energetic inception point, if I work to release the energetic root of this thing that's been bedeviling me all of my life, then I've got a greater chance of releasing it and moving forward. And that's indeed what happened. So when you say it's a game changer just for my listeners and even for myself, so what is the energy? I mean, in the workshop, it was like three days.

00:15:21
I'm certain the instructor was very energetic.

00:15:26
He was in just a very good place. What specifically happened in that session that enabled you to say, I want to do this? So many things. There's a lot in what you're saying. Let me break it down.

00:15:45
Firstly, it's less about being energetic or energized than it is about being non resistant. So most of us try and change our lives when we are still in a non resistant state. And by non resistant, I mean we've still got the charge of our limiting beliefs is still so much a part of our identity, our emotions. We don't feel our emotions, we are our emotions. So all of this becomes.

00:16:24
Contributes to a state of resistance where we're still trapped in the old, but we try to move forward. And the idea, and this is what happened on the weekend, was they did some work with us. They actually used some energy techniques, and I could physically feel my energy getting lighter. And so what you're wanting to do is you're wanting to work with your energy or use techniques that don't make you necessarily more energized, although that's often the outcome that make you less resistant. And so there is an absolute link between our limiting beliefs, our overwhelming emotions, our unhelpful behaviors, the stories we tell ourselves, and energy, because all of that is just energy.

00:17:11
And so what we try and do when we try and change our lives is we try and work through things at a cognitive level, and there is great value in doing that because it's really important to understand what is tripping us up. But in my experience, having been in psychology for, working in psychology for years, been in my own therapy for a couple of decades, insight is great, but it somehow wasn't shifting the dial for me. And so I needed something that helped me release the energetic stamp, the energetic frequency related to my thoughts, my stories, my beliefs, my feelings. And that's what energy work does. We've got techniques that help person understand what's tripping them up, but then these techniques release the energy around that so that it's gone for good.

00:18:06
And it happens a lot quicker than trying to work through things in your mind, because your mind is often the thing that's getting in the way. I remember even my therapist said to me, I live in my head. She said, you live in your head. You would actually do better doing some spiritual work to get you out of your head, because your head is the thing that is tripping you up. And so when you work at an energetic level, you move from your head into your heart, and you release at that level.

00:18:37
And I think that's what made the difference for me. Okay, let me give you a story.

00:18:49
When I wrote my book, is your way in your way? It was just actually, there were love letters written to women. I would say, dear women who have self esteem problems, or dear women who compare yourselves to others, dear women with these self limiting beliefs, negative self talk.

00:19:15
And because we have been so conditioned with this negative self talk, it can become a habit. It can become like, well, I don't want to speak in front of people because I'm not that good at it. Because in my childhood, they said, women don't speak. They don't talk loud, they don't use their voice. You just sit there and you'd listen.

00:19:39
Now, what I'd like for you to do, if you can, is to take me, let's say it's me, and I'm struggling with using my voice and speaking out. What are some techniques that I could use to help me get out of that. Great. Okay. That's such a great question.

00:19:59
So there's so many ways of looking at this, but I suspect you're asking me to answer the question from the perspective of energy work, right? Yes. Okay. So what you're describing in all of those examples, including the inability to speak up, which, by the way, is very common, is you're describing what I would call an energy block, that something happened in your life or the person's life when they were young. They were told to shh all the time.

00:20:28
Okay. And over time, when somebody tells you to sh. It's a jarring experience, right. Something, especially when you're young, you don't really know what to do with that. You recoil, you go within, and there's energetic frequency around that experience.

00:20:46
Now imagine if that happens all the time. Over the course of your childhood and your life, you develop the energy around that grows, grows, grows, grows. It becomes a block. And what I work with, when I'm working with the energetic body, I'm working with the chakra system, which I'm sure you've heard of. And now if you're talking about being unable to speak your truth, you're probably talking about a block in your throat chakra.

00:21:15
Now, your throat chakra is the chakra that is around our self expression, okay? And what it sounds, because when blocks form, there can either be an excess of the energy or a deficiency of the energy. Sounds to me like there's a deficiency here. There's not enough self efficacy that allows the person to speak up. So what I would do, and it's impossible to say because the person is not speaking up, they've got a block in their throat chakra.

00:21:47
I mean, I'm sure they do, but I'm looking for the root of that issue. So I'm going to read the energy everywhere. The root might not be in the throat, the symptoms might be in the throat chakra, but the root might be somewhere else. And this is just for argument's sake, because we're talking fictitiously, I might read their energy, and I might find that actually the root is in their solar plexus. For argument's sake.

00:22:13
Now, the solar plexus is the chakra that is related to our ego identity, our self esteem, our sense of personal mastery and control and all of that stuff. And I might find that over time, as the person was shushed, over time, they developed a sense of their self esteem was affected. And maybe the root is there, potentially, or maybe when I read their energy, I might find that the root is in their sacral chakra, which is the seat of our emotional identity. That's where fear, potentially fear, resides. And it could be that there is a big block around fear and it might be lodged in the sacral chakra.

00:23:06
So I'd work with across the energetic body. I assume there'd be quite a bit of work to do in the throat chakra, but I would look for the root and I would find that and I would release it wherever it is. Now, when you say chakra, I've heard of it. I've not experienced it. Are they like, nine chakras?

00:23:28
A certain amount of chakras? And let's say you want to get to the seat of it. How would you do that? Is it touching? Is it tapping?

00:23:37
What is it? Yeah. So they're actually more well over 100 chakras. We only typically are accustomed to using seven, although I use nine regularly because I work with the ears as well. So we've got a chakra at.

00:23:53
Well, the bottom three chakras are related to kind of humanistic issues. The top three chakras related to more around consciousness. And the middle chakra, which is the heart chakra, kind of connects everything. So the root chakra is related. And by the way, a chakra is a place in your energetic body where energy constellates.

00:24:16
So it's like, often depicted as a little wheel or disc, but it's a concentration of energy. And each of the chakras, it stores energy related to different things, if I can put it that way. So your root chakra is around your survival issues. It's related to safety, security, all of that. Your sacral chakra is related to your emotional space, your emotional identity.

00:24:45
Your solar plexus is around self efficacy, self esteem, control, personal power. Your heart chakra is around self love and also connection to others, connection to self and others. Throat is around self expression, third eye is around intuition. And the crown chakra is around your connection to the divine. So your ability to connect with reality beyond the human existence.

00:25:14
And then I use the ear chakras as well, because a lot comes through your ears. Messages come through us, and they can get stuck and kind of lodged as slow vibrational energy there as well. So that's the chakra system in a real nutshell. What I'm doing, I don't tap and I typically don't even touch. So most of my clients are virtual because I work with.

00:25:39
Yeah. And so what I'm doing is I've got tools to bring their energetic body in front of me. For lack of a better word. And I'm working on their energetic body with my hands and also through, in visualization through my mind. And so it's very different to how the things work in the 3d world because it feels really strange.

00:26:09
You think, how can you just work with something in your mind? But in the energetic world, everything works through intention. So when you focus your attention on something, it pulls all your energy and focus onto that thing and it makes it manifest. I've got your energetic body in front of me. I'm going through it, I'm reading it.

00:26:31
I'm kind of going in imagining reading what's happening, and I'm using my hands to give me a sense of. So I'll use my hands, I'll do scanning, and if there's a block, I'll feel heat in my hands. And then I go into that area and I work through my hands and through my mind to release what is keeping the person stuck right now. Gabriellele, this chakra is not, I wouldn't say normal. I'm not calling it normal or abnormal.

00:27:09
It's just something or modality that many people aren't aware of. There are people that are. So how do you get people comfortable with it? If you say it's a game changer and people are stuck, it's just like an is your way, in your way. People, there's certain things they want to do, but they're stuck, they're having problems moving forward with it, and people hear different things.

00:27:37
Chakra tapping, acupuncture, I mean, there's so many different things. So how would you get people comfortable? Or if they're not comfortable, then this is not for them. How do you determine whether this modality should be used? I know this is what you do.

00:27:57
So if they come to you, that was an expectation that you're going to do.

00:28:04
Think. It's such a great question. Cassandra. I want to start by saying that I think more people know about the energetic body chakra system than we think, because it's becoming more and more mainstream. If you think about yoga, and a lot of us do yoga, it's become very, very mainstream.

00:28:24
Yoga is about the flow of QI, it's about the flow of Prada energy and working through physical poses to open up your energetic centers, which are the chakras. And so a lot of people actually know about it. But you're right, most people are going to come to me. Well, it's a self selecting group of people. They know what I do and therefore part of them believes it or all of them believes it.

00:28:55
And so I don't necessarily get into conversation about people to try and convince them that this is the right modality. But remember, it's not all I work with. I've got a background in psychology and I bring a lot of that to bed with my clients because to understand and know your limiting beliefs is priceless. All right? To know what's keeping you stuck, I help people move from the head to the heart, from the heart of that.

00:29:26
The whole process of change is I hold the process of change and I work with resistance and I work with what's stopping people from getting off those starting blocks. This is language most people understand. The only time that we talk energy is when there's a part of the session or part of the coaching process where I will either do an piece of energetic healing on them or I'll give them an energy tip or tool to use to shift things up. But I'm not just sitting in the ethers. I'm talking about contemporary psychological challenges.

00:30:06
I'm just bringing a bit of a spiritual framework to it at times to help release what's holding them back. Okay, so how do individuals sustain it? Let's say you've worked on someone and they're feeling really good, the outcome is great, and then weeks later they can get stuck again. So how do you sustain what you've done? Or is it like you won't be able to, or is there work that individual has to do for them to sustain what you've done?

00:30:46
That's a great question. And you're talking about, I've got five pillars to my energy mastery kind of methodology. You're talking about one of them, which is maintaining your energy. And it's a great question because we can work magic in a session, but then life happens. And what happens when life happens?

00:31:07
Right? So the first part of energy mastery is understanding your energy. What triggers low vibration, what triggers your energy to drop, the triggers understanding your energetic state, what gets you high, what gets you low. Second is protecting. How to protect your energy from toxicity around you.

00:31:25
The third one is how to clear your energy. We've just spoken a bit about that. The fourth is how to maintain your energy. The fifth one is how to optimize. Now, maintaining your energy is such an important piece because even if I've released a root of a block, you're still going to have energy dips.

00:31:45
And depending on how pervasive the block is, that block sometimes takes time to release. Like, for example, for me, my block was around intense anxiety and terror and dread and fear. And I thought I'd released it. And I spent three weeks really working through and releasing the block intensely. And I was anxiety free for a year.

00:32:13
And then it came back. Not to the same extensity, not to the same intensity, but it did come back. And so I had to go in again, and it took a lot quicker and a lot less effort to release it because I feel like I dislodged it the first time, but I hadn't released it properly. Wow. So I'd been living with anxiety for decades, so it did come back.

00:32:35
Now the question is, how do you manage energy fluctuations? Because what we want to do is we want to stop a downward spiral before it goes too far. As you know, when you get into a really low vibrational state, you're at the bottom of the barrel, you've spiraled downwards. It's actually difficult to take action, and you always want to be in a state where you can take action. And so what I do is either the person comes back for another deep clearing, but otherwise there are simple things that anyone can do to manage their energy to maintain higher energetic vibration.

00:33:22
And so very. I can give you the simplest stuff, which is learning how to tune into your energy and asking questions, because questions interrupt things. And also language is a way to really get into, but also reframe your inner world. What I teach people are really simple things. I'll give you one example.

00:33:54
Becoming more vigilant about how you are feeling inside. What your energy levels are like is everyone's got a mobile phone. We've all got alarms on our mobile phone. Set your do an energy alarm system. It can be twice a day, in the morning or evening, three times a day, morning, noon, evening, can be hour, depending on how you're feeling.

00:34:20
And what you do is you set an alarm every time it goes off. And I've done this, you tune in and you say, you ask yourself a question, is my energy heavy or is it light? Okay, is it open or is it closed? When you start asking yourself those questions, firstly, you interrupt a downward spiral. But the question itself is designed to shift and elevate and release.

00:34:55
And there are many of those kinds of techniques that I teach people to really keep. It's like practicing good energy hygiene, keeping on top of those bits. Okay. All right. Now, what are some testimonies from your clients?

00:35:18
What are they saying after you've done the work? Have you had one that said it didn't work for them and you weren't able to do anything else for them? The bad, the good and the ugly. I guess I've had, I'd say just off the top of my head, and I've done a lot of these. I've had three clients that I can recall where I haven't been able to read their energy.

00:35:44
And it doesn't mean energy healing hasn't happened. It just means it's difficult for me to engage in a debrief, in a dialogue after I haven't been able to, really. And the reason I'm typically not able to read energy is because the person is closed.

00:36:03
So I've had that a handful of times, but most of the time, Cassandra, people, I can give you examples of what's happened. So somebody came to me and their whole life, I mean, they were in their 30s, late 30s, entire life, they had struggled with sleep and a sleep disorder where it took them forever to fall asleep. Then when they woke up in the night to go to the toilet, it took them another hour, hour and a half to go back to sleep. It was a real nightmare. We had two sessions and it was gone.

00:36:40
It was released. The person slept through the night for the first time and then reported, because I spoke to them often afterwards, then reported that while it wasn't perfect, their sleep was. I mean, they were still waking up. They were going back to sleep very easily. So that would be an example of.

00:37:04
I worked with somebody else. Who? A man, 60 year old man. He was in therapy last year, and while he was in therapy, he had a memory of being sexually abused as an eight year old child. So for 52 years, he'd lived with this unconscious driver.

00:37:26
Can you imagine the energy around that that was sitting in? And I thought, oh, I'm going to work with this person for months to try and get to it. But within one session, there was an impact. And I really mean, it's genuine. You can go onto my website and have a look at the testimonials, and it's not magic.

00:37:49
If you learn how to do this, you understand how it works. But what happened with that person, which is very common after you release a very big energy block, is you purge. And I said to them after the session, firstly, the actual, they had a transcendent experience while I was working on them. It was just magical. We had our debrief, and then I said, look, it was a big block.

00:38:12
You might purge, you might feel physically sick for a few days. You might have an emotional release. It's okay. Four days of that, the person lost their luster. They were very flat.

00:38:28
And then after the four days, they popped out of it, and they said they were experiencing life from a fundamentally different lens. The quality of his interaction with people at work, with his wife, with others, just generally was fundamentally lighter, easier, more joyful, more playful.

00:38:53
Typically, there's a very big impact, but on the odd occasion, if energy is blocked, if the person is in too much of a resistance state, it's difficult to read it. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Because I was going to say, like, I thought of hypnosis when you were speaking, and if you're not open to it, they probably won't even fall asleep.

00:39:15
You have to be. And a lot of people are reluctant. I wonder, is this woo woo or that kind of thing? So that's what I was thinking.

00:39:30
Actually. And hypnosis is really just getting into, like, a theta. We call it theta. Theta state, where you are. And my clients don't have to do that.

00:39:43
They don't have to do anything. I go into the theta state. Okay. What that is is a state of semi consciousness where you're kind of aware of what's happening in the foreground, but you're standing in the background, and that's really what it is. So this is very different to hypnosis because as a client, you don't have to go into an altered state at all, but the person who's working with you is probably pulling on more potent energies.

00:40:17
They're the one that's probably in a little bit of a more. You don't have to do it. So you got full control. Yeah, because I'm thinking about myself. I'm like, oh, they won't be able to put me to sleep.

00:40:28
I'm thinking I probably would really be a tough person for them to work with because I would be resisting. Well, you don't have to be asleep, but you might still be resisting from a conscious state.

00:40:46
What's interesting about working at an energetic level, if I've got your permission and you trust me and you just lying there, what I say to people is, you don't have to be in an altered state, but you just need to be lying there. Don't be in the kitchen while I'm working on you. Lie down or sit comfortably. This works whether your mind is on board or not with it. And that's what a lot of my clients have found.

00:41:14
And for those who don't believe in it, that's absolutely fine. I'm not here to convince you at all. Right. Wow. What fascinating work.

00:41:23
And I was looking at your mission with clients is to help people find joy and fulfillment and personal transformation and experience the gratification of self discovery. And when I listen to the work that you do, it makes me wonder, why aren't more people doing it? But a lot of people don't know what they don't know. And then there are individuals, as you indicated, that's not open to it. Yeah.

00:41:52
So it just makes me wonder because it sounds like this is really great work and who wants to be stuck all their lives?

00:42:05
And I know you didn't pay me to say this or anything like that. No, I didn't, but it just sounds. Like it's an incredible work. And when I'm thinking about when I was writing my book and how long it took me to get out of my way, and I think for me, I was stuck and I wanted to write this book, but it took me ten to twelve years because I kept saying, yeah, I'm going to do it, I'm going to do it. So obviously there was some blockage or something that was preventing me from taking action on it.

00:42:35
And then during the pandemic, it's like all of a sudden like, okay, when I was ready, then resources started coming to me, which was strange to me. I guess they say when the student's ready, the teacher will appear. Yeah, that's exactly right. I don't know what your book covers, but I'd love to read it now. But I think in my experience, we all have this innate need for growth and development.

00:43:05
We are hardwired that way. The question, as you put, is why don't we just end our suffering and embrace change? Right? In my experience, there are two things that we have to navigate as humans to get over that. The one is discomfort because change, the unlearning process, the identity change, all of that stuff is uncomfortable.

00:43:33
And the other one is energy. So people lack the energy. It takes focus, discipline, effort to work on ourselves. And so this thing about this lack of energy often gets in our way as well. So I'm really curious about that too.

00:43:52
Unless you are willing to lean into discomfort and get comfortable with being a little comfort. Yeah. And unless you are ready to devote some focus and energy onto yourself, well, change doesn't happen, but, well, what happens is that you get to the point of such discomfort, like a crisis may hit, then you're forced to change. And I like to teach people that you don't have to get to that crisis, that we all have this innate, it's so innately satisfying to discover parts of ourselves, self insight, those aha moments. There's joy.

00:44:34
There's fulfillment in those moments. Why don't we just lean into them? And that's part of the kind of atmosphere I create in my coaching, is around the joy of self awareness, self growth, and the joy of transformation. It's a beautiful process. Yeah.

00:44:53
Because I could tell I didn't know you before today, but just listening to you night and day, like, you really change, it was a game changer for you to do this work rather than what you were doing. But yet it sounds like the background you had helped you or propelled you to do this type of work, because, like you said, you did not think of it right away when you left your job. Yeah. It's just things kind of evolved. It's like it came to you on what it is that you're supposed to be doing.

00:45:28
That's exactly right. And I think one of the things that gets in our way is you've got to have a push and a pull factor to change. There's got to be a different future that's more compelling than where you are, even if all that means is feeling less anxious, in my case, and one of the things that I used to teach in corporates for the last five years of my career, which I wasn't applying on myself, was having a purpose that's bigger than yourself, and it's such an important pillar of mental health. Yes. And so it's great for depression, anxiety, all of those things.

00:46:11
And so I became very, this is where the energy was around. Why am I here? What is my purpose? Bigger than my own neuroses. And I found a purpose that worked for me, fulfilling potential together.

00:46:29
In my interactions with my clients, I'm helping them fulfill their potential, but they're also giving me back something. It's a togetherness. The together is such a big word in that statement. And so having a purpose is another way to get off the starting blocks and really traverse change in a more joyful and meaningful way. Right, exactly.

00:46:53
And I wrote about that. I actually have a chapter on dear women who want to know what their purpose is. And it's no big or small purpose. It's just a purpose, and it can happen over time. Your purpose could be this last year.

00:47:07
Now your purpose has changed a bit. Yeah. So, Gabrielle, as we wrap up, what's your next step with this? Where do you see yourself in the next maybe three to five years with this? What you're doing wasn't anticipating that question, really.

00:47:30
It's about scale and impact. I really want more and more people to lean into the discomfort of change and to find the joiner and to get to the other side.

00:47:47
I want people to step out of that invisible spiritual, and I want to do that through scale and through impact. So I think it's about touching more lives. And really, the more people that I can work with, the better. Which probably means that my practice is going to move more into group work over time, which is fine because I love facilitating. I think it's a great thing, and I think there's fun and joy in learning in a group.

00:48:18
I think you can tap into the joy change when you're working in a community of like minded people. Right? So I think that's probably what's going to happen. But it's around a scale. Wow.

00:48:31
