As we move into the edit, there are some phrases or words that might need further explanation. Here's a small key to them!

  1. EP - Edit Producer:
  2. SP - Series Producer:
  3. PD - Producer Director:
  4. Contrib - Contributor: Refers to individuals who appear on-screen and provide contributions to the program, typically members of the public rather than presenters.
  5. Cut - To cut the rushes: Refers to the process of selecting desired footage from the raw, unedited material and discarding the unwanted parts.
  6. Rushes - The raw footage that has been filmed.

  9. Cutaways - Shots that are used to interrupt or break up the main footage, often used when mentioned in sync. For example, if an interviewee mentions something specific, a cutaway shot of that subject might be inserted.
  10. To Clear - Refers to the process of obtaining permission and securing the rights to use copyrighted material (such as music or archive footage) for broadcast. It also involves considering the cost implications of using the cleared media.
