Speaker 1:

Can you believe they have the audacity? Welcome to the have the Audacity podcast. I'm your host, jacey Lawlin. I'm on a mission to empower women like you to live audaciously. What does it mean to live audaciously, you ask? Living audaciously means you're no longer available for living your life based on someone else's agenda, standards or boundaries. It's time to activate your power, use your voice and create the life you're meant to live. So the next time someone asks, can you believe she had the audacity, you can look at them and say, yeah, I did. Hey, audacious Human, I'm so glad that you're here today and I just want to thank you for allowing me to get to be a part of your day, just a small part of this moment that we get to share together, and I'm just so appreciative of that when I'm recording this episode.

Speaker 1:

I've literally just spent the last like three and a half hours recording the next couple weeks for the episodes for the other podcast that I am a co-host on called From the Vault, a Taylor Swift podcast, and we're going through right now breaking down each Taylor Swift song and honestly, as I talked about on the previous episode, it's just something fun to do, like I'm done monetizing everything, I'm done, trying to think what is this moving towards? In just doing something because it's fun to do, I genuinely love to talk about Taylor Swift and Taylor Swift music and lyrics and dissect them Like it's just fun for me and it's conversations that I would normally have. So why not do something for nothing than the ROI being joy and fun? And I've been sharing what I've been going through the last couple months about trying to figure out what's next, and, as somebody who's always had a plan and always known like this is what I want to do next, and this is x, y and z, the steps I need to take. I've always been very like plan oriented and, honestly, right now I'm at a point where I don't know what's next and I know that I want more, but I don't know what that looks like. And so I'm just enjoying life and being in life and reading books and creating things and enjoying the process and just being in the moment and not worried about the next five steps and just looking like what's the next step ahead.

Speaker 1:

And I came across this reel when I was thinking about this the other day and I had to share it with you because it was such a neat perspective to look at, and it was this whole idea that there's a blessing in being in the space of confusion, because and by that I mean it's a blessing to not know what's next it's a blessing to have to decide between two careers or not know what's next. This is so very timely. If you're listening to this, when it comes out it's towards the end of May and it's graduation season and there's a lot of like asking what's next. And for teachers, it's into the school year and things are changing and it's just one of those things Like I don't have the answers. I don't really know what's next. I know there's like a neat innate craving for more and wanting to do more, but I don't know what that looks like.

Speaker 1:

And how cool is it to think about instead of the scary thing and making it wrong? Making it wrong that I don't know what the next step is. I don't know what my business is going to look like. I don't know what my career is going to look like, moving forward, but I know, like I don't know those things, but like looking at that instead of making it mean that there's something wrong, that I'm wrong, that I should know that I'm being directionless and I'm not going to do anything because I don't know, looking at it as a blessing in the confusion of the not knowing what's next, because then that tells me, and if you're in that place, that tells you that you are in a place where you have never been before in your life. If you know what's next, that means you're in a familiar place. So if you're at a point in your life right now where you have never been, at this point, if you don't know what's next, and how beautiful is that, like having that reframe of not making it mean anything negative, just making it mean you're standing at the edge of something completely new, that you're finally in the unknown and this is a huge part of where transformation happens and big change happens, because your old keys aren't going to unlock the new doors for you that to achieve something you've never have achieved, you're going to have to do something you've never done.

Speaker 1:

And being in the unknown and that's where faith comes in and trusting that you're going to know the exact next one step to place your foot, that you don't have to see where it is that you're going, you trust that you are going in the direction that you're supposed to be going, but you are just leaning in, like what is the next step? What is the next one thing I need to do? And being aware of it and not being afraid of the unknown, but embracing it and finding the joy in the possibilities of what is to come. And that's where I'm at right now. That truly is where I am, and I know that you can identify with that at some point in your life. If you're not in it right now, at some point in your life you can relate with that.

Speaker 1:

That this feeling of the unknown is doesn't mean anything negative, like it's a good thing. I don't know what's next, because I'm in unknown territory, I'm in something new, I've leveled up, I'm moving on to some place I've never been, I'm stepping into what I'm being called forward to do and it's terrifying because our brain craves the known. We're hardwired to want to stay in the known and stay safe and so, yeah, that's going to cause some discomfort, but the reframe that you do of like no, I don't know what's next, because I'm somewhere I've never been and that's exciting. It's being reminded that excited and fear are the same thing emotion they're the same vibration in the body fear and excitement. And so, instead of being like oh, I'm nervous for this, I'm excited for it. It feels the same way. It's the label and the meaning that we put to it.

Speaker 1:

So, instead of being nervous about what's next or trying to find the answers and trying to force things to work, just ask what's the next step I take. What's the next one thing I need to do Today? What's the one thing that I need to do for this? Make it blatantly obvious that this is the next thing that I need to do. Even if it doesn't make sense, I'm going to trust the process and trust my inner, knowing my intuition that this is the next thing that I need to do.

Speaker 1:

So if you're at a point right now where you're in the unknown and you're in somewhere new, or you're at a place where you're like I don't know what comes next, I don't want something different, but I don't know. Embrace the reality that you are stepping into a version of you you've never been and that's exciting. Embrace the confusion, embrace the unknown and step into what's next. And so you're like JC, cool, that sounds great and poetic and whatever, but that's some great fluff. But like, how do I do that? Well, one thing I'm doing is like paying attention to what lights me up, what am I excited to do, what do I do that? Well, one thing I'm doing is like paying attention to what lights me up, what am I excited to do, what do I feel drawn to, what's like a moment. I'm like, ooh, I should go record this episode, or oh, I should go do this, or I should go.

Speaker 1:

Look here, there's things like we have. Our soul is constantly talking to us. It's just gaining the self-awareness to hear it. And so that's in little things like, oh, I need a drink of water. Like I'm thirsty, like every time you're thirsty, get a sip of water. Wait, take a second, get a sip of water. Every time you're hungry, go have a small snack Time to be a full meal. You're building that trust with yourself that's like, oh, I need these things, so I will go do them. It's as simple as like you need to go to the bathroom. Go right, then Don't try to hold it and wait Just where you're doing to go. It's the small little things that's going to build that trust within yourself over time. So then when you have a moment where, like for myself, it's like you need to go down, you need to go talk about this. Okay, I'm going to go sit down and record an episode, or you need to go look on this site and see what's different. This makes no sense. But okay, like, I'm just going to follow the thought. And the more you do it, the more trust you have with yourself and you're like, okay, and you're open to it and you can feel in your body when it doesn't feel right.

Speaker 1:

I know I've talked a lot about on this podcast in the past, about just really being mindful about how you're feeling. Where's the tension at? Are your shoulders relaxed? What does it feel like when you think about doing something and knowing? Is it like a good scared, or is it like, oh, this is wrong, this is bad, I should not like, I do not need to be doing this.

Speaker 1:

It's paying attention to those things. You find your power and your peace when you become attuned with yourself. And it's not something we're taught and it's not something that's widely talked about, because the world that we live in doesn't want you to know the power that you have within yourself. It wants you to look outside of yourself for that when it's inside of you, and so, wherever you are in your life right now, if there's a little bit of an unknown and there's uneasiness about the unknown, which is normal in human, because your brain craves the known, because known is safe and your brain's job is to keep you safe, and so that is normal. But that's when you step in and you're like, no, we're going to embrace this, we're going to embrace the unknown, we're going to embrace this confusion and find joy in it, because I know I'm stepping into a version of myself I have yet to be.

Speaker 1:

I really hope that today's episode landed, because I know it was something that I needed to tell myself. I needed to have this conversation with myself today, I needed this reminder, and so I hope it's something that landed with you. First, I want to say thank you so much for listening to today's episode. It truly means so much to me that you were here and that I got to be a small part of your day. I have three things to tell you before you go, though.

Speaker 1:

Second, share this episode with somebody right now that you know needs to hear it, or take a screenshot. Tag me on social media and let me know what you loved about this episode. I love getting to connect with you, and the third last thing I have is I cannot let you go without sending you off into the rest of your day with the reminder that I want you to always remember you are worthy, you have value, you get to take up space in this world simply because you exist. Don't let anyone, including yourself, convince you otherwise, and if that idea or vision for your life is in you, it is for you. Living with this phrase in mind in today's world is such a truly audacious thing for you to do so. Until the next time I talk to you, remember, have the audacity.
