So that means we are using scripture to shift our mindset so that we can gain a life of peace and joy. If you are a returning listener, welcome back. I'm excited to have you here. Very honored that you continue to make the choice to be here with me every single week. And it just feels like home. I'm excited to be here with you all. And I just thank you so much for your support. Last week, we talked about the importance of finding God in the hard at times I shared my reflections while being in the petrified national forest. I talked about feeling the heat of the desert and what it felt like sitting on that cliff. I also gave you practical things that you can do to look for God. So if that sounds like. Something that resonates with you. My friend, I believe that episode was created just for you. And if you listened to it, I hope that you're encouraged and inspired by it. This week, we are going to talk about why you should consider it a blessing. When you're feeling small. So what do I mean by that? Well, Have you ever faced multiple hard times at once? I felt stressed because of the worries that's dancing around in your mind. And you're wondering. Why me. Or is this endless cycle of non-stop challenges will ever stop? You look ahead and see nothing but a mountain. And you don't know if you have the strength to move and I'm not just talking about physically moving, but mentally as well. Work is endless stressful. wont go away. And all you want is to break away so that you can feel rested and having a sense of peace. All of the sudden you feel yourself becoming smaller and smaller. And possibly even weaker. That is what I need when I say. That's your feeling small. And that is the encouragement today. My friend, that when you are feeling small, It is a blessing or at least consider it a blessing that you get to feel that way. as a mother and wife, I used to think I needed to do everything around the house. Like cooking, cleaning, doing the laundry, running errands, taking care of the kids, teaching them, playing with them, spending time with my husband. And so much more. So these things honestly are a part of my responsibility. It is how I serve my family and, and take care of my house. But I made the mistake of thinking that I needed to do it all at once As in everything needed to be done that day or everything is ruined after that. Right. It's the most bizarre mindset that I ever put myself in because it stressed me out so much. And that mindset led me to feel like I didn't have any time to do anything or have time to myself, and that led me to go hide in the bathroom so that I could. Have some peace. And I know that if you're a mom, whether you're new or seasoned, This might be relatable to you as you're thinking about your own crazy schedule and the things that you have going on in your life with your kids. I also know that all of our struggles are different. So even if you couldn't relate to mine as a mom, I know that you're going through some things where. It is challenging and it's not just one challenging thing, but it's multiple all at the same time. The good news is that feeling small and powerless does not to me that you are these things. It is a matter of shifting your mindset. So you have to ask yourself, do you want to stay in a fixed mindset or be in a growth mindset? My friend, I am going to be very transparent and share with you that end that season of my life As a mom who thought she had to do everything all at once in that same day. I was in a fixed mindset. I always felt that I couldn't change and I was easily offended. If my husband ever asked me to rest. Or to not worry about the next thing that was on my list. I never knew actually what a blessing. It wasn't until much later in life in. Yes. I met about 10 years later. So it took a while, but. It was a blessing. To have him by my side to help me remember that it is. Good that we rest. Now, I know you're searching for peace, joy, and fulfillment, because right now, It's looking like you're worried about many things and you're unsure how you're going to rise above all of the chaos. So the question is, what do you do? What if I asked you to consider looking at your challenges from a different lens, meaning. What, if you count it as a blessing that you get to feel small when you look at your Mount Everest, so to speak, whatever that looks like for you. Now I've never seen Mount Everest except for in pictures, but I have visited the grand canyon. And by no means, am I comparing them? But being there definitely made me feel small. I felt small looking out at this magnificent creation, this natural wonder. And I honestly believe that no pictures could ever do that place. Any justice. You just have to be there to experience it. And so I'm sharing my grand canyon experience with you, but I want you to think about a place that you have been where you felt small standing next to it. And that could be at the beach when you're looking out into what seems like an endless wash of water, or maybe it's you being out in nature in the mountains and seeing the magnificent work of God. But counting your blessings. When you're feeling small is so important because one, it fixes your eyes on God. And it teaches you to rely on him. And it tests your trust in him. It's so easy to feel out of sorts, right. To panic. And to wonder why all of this is happening all at once. And so we start to try to save ourselves from these things, but I truly believe that this is a test to our trust in him. Relying on him, no matter what. and fixing our eyes on him, despite all the chaos that's happening in our life. Last week's episode actually goes perfectly with today's conversation. So if you miss it again, my friend, I would highly recommend that you take a listen to it. But we can take a look at Genesis as a reminder that God is a wonderful homemaker. And chapter one, the Bible talks about how he created the world and all the things in it before creating man. Y because he loves us. He wanted to give us a place that would be home to us. Earlier. I said, you get to feel small and what a blessing it is because you also get a choice to see the joy in that. Challenges are not ideal. Because it's uncomfortable and we like to be comfortable, but in the hard times, when you look for God, you acknowledge his good works in your life. The challenges my friend are temporary, but God is constant. And he's given us the best gift, the gift of Jesus and John 16, verse 33, Jesus says, I have said these things to you. That in me, you may have peace and the world, you will have tribulation, but take heart. I have overcome the world. He said that when he was talking to his disciples and as believers, I believe that we can take comfort in his words, knowing that in him, you will have peace despite what is happening. In Matthew chapter 11, Jesus says to come to me all who labor and are heavy Laden, and I will give you rest, take my yoke upon you and learn from me for, I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Rest for your souls, sounds so much more satisfying than. Any kind of rests that our flesh could ever have. To me, that sounds like peace. to you have rest when there is so much going on in your life? When you feel small, it means you acknowledge, you need someone mightier than you. And who is minder than God himself. So, yes, work still needs to be completed on a daily. And that means that you have to show up every day. To face your Mount Everest, or your challenges. But you do not have to do it alone. Let God be with you. Partnering with you, guiding you leading you. He's already provided everything for you. I spoke about being in the mindset that I needed to do everything at once and how that led me to thinking I didn't have time for anything. So I became frantic minded. And it just created a lot of chaos in my life. I know that resonates with some of you listening. So I'm going to share with you practical ways you can work on slowing down and showing up with peace. So first you're going to pick. Your top three must do. These are the things that take priority no matter what. Now that doesn't mean that you ignore everything else, but if it's not on your top three, you're going to put less energy towards them. And if you have to make a list so that you can visually see it. And then if you notice every day that one task on your top three gets repetitive, set time away for it. For example. If Bible study is on there every single day, it's a clear indicator that this is no longer a task, but a part of a routine. So. Set aside some time for it, right? Incorporate it into your daily routine. It gives you a chance to add something new on your top three list as well. See the goal is to not have the same thing on your top three list every single day it's to help you get through the important things in your day And then you want to set a timer and respect those time slots. So in order for you to move through your list, your top three, You have to set a time block for it. And once that time is up, move on to something else. Even if it's not completed, find a stopping point. And the reason why I suggest this is because I have found myself to make a list. And not put a timer on it. And stay on number one the entire day before. I know what I almost feel like I didn't get anything done and that's happened a lot of times. So putting a limit on how long I spend time on a certain task has definitely helped me move past something else. If you are a mom who has kids at home, Don't forget to include them. When you separate your life from theirs, it creates distance. So give your kids a task that they can manage. That might mean putting away the blankets, hoping you fold the blankets, putting away the dishes, hoping you've rinsed the dishes. Sweeping the floor wiping the tables. and it helps them feel included in what you're doing as well and, and creates a bond for you and your child. And it's okay to ask your spouse for help, if you need it, or simply just share your agenda with them and have them share theirs with yours. So that you can help each other out, maybe you can help them tackle something and he can help you tackle something. And before you know what you guys are working as a team, it is about teamwork, right? You're in this together. And lastly be grateful and all of this. Yes, the work feels like a lot and it can become tiring. So showing up with peace as your weapon of choice is going to continue to keep you calm. My friend. I am a life coach that helps you with mindset barriers, meaning I hope you reach your goals.
