These topics are coming from a faith lens and will propel you into a life of peace and joy. My name is Caroline, wife, mom of three, daughter of the one true king. Host of this podcast and certified light coach through the I am system by Painting Vehicles Incorporations. My hope is that this podcast brings God's light into your life and you break free from the chains that are holding you back. Friend, it is time to shift your mindset into one that will help you flourish. Ready? Let's go. Hello and welcome to the restored mind podcast. My name is Caroline life, coach and host of this podcast. I'm excited to have you here today. My friend, if you are new, welcome to the restored mind family. If this is your first time, this is a podcast that talks about mindset shifts. Going from negative mindsets into positive ones, but we are using scripture. To help ground us so that we have something to anchor to, and to give us inspiration when things get hard. If you are returning listener. Welcome back. I am so excited that you are here and I feel very honored. That you're back here again this week for another episode. I started this podcast. Not really knowing. What was going to happen or if anybody was going to be listening, but I truly do appreciate that you show up week after week to support the restored mind and to. Get a refresher on how important it is to have a good positive mindset. Not that doesn't mean that we ignore all the bad things, but that does mean that. We are choosing to have an attitude. That's going to reflect a moving forward, making progress, kind of a work ethic, right. So last week we talked about considering hard times as a blessing, especially when you begin to feel small, next to the mini set of challenges that you come across. It was an episode to encourage and remind you that God is mightier than your troubles. If it sounds like an encouragement that you need my friend, go take a listen to that episode. And I hope that whatever your struggles are, you find a peace within the season of your life. Now I know it sounds impossible, but it is possible. These challenges are temporary, but God is constant. So rest. Knowing that in him, you can find rest for your soul. This week is going to focus on encouraging you to not give up. It's so easy to say that It's harder to actually not give up. Well, we're going to take a look at what it means to work and keep your tasks without quitting. Even when you're feeling like you're at wit's end. And all of us have been there at some point or another. Now for the sake of this episode, please keep in mind that when I say work, I don't mean a job that pays financially. It's really everything that you do. Think of work today as all of the intentional efforts you're putting into whatever task you have in front of you. Have you ever prayed so hard for something? And when you finally feel like your prayers have been answered, you told yourself you would never take this thing for granted, whatever it was that you prayed for. Do you remember the excitement and the grateful mind and heart you had towards God when you finally got what you wanted. For some of you, it might be your miracle baby for others. It could be a job you've applied to because you knew it would help you financially and open doors for you for more opportunities to come in the future. maybe it's a letter of acceptance or a call you've been waiting for to receive good news. Now, I know you're thinking of that particular time in your life, right? You've prayed so hard and waited so long to get this opportunity. And when you got it, you worked and put energy towards it every day without fail. Then comes the pains of the work being pregnant is a beautiful thing. But your baby is now here and you're struggling to quote, figure it out. Maybe you feel lost. Like you don't know who you are anymore. You've lost count of days. And the level of exhaustion you're feeling is pushing you to your limits and you're barely hanging on The job you once thanked God for you're now asking why you have. To deal with the problems that come along with it. The people you work with are less than ideal and maybe your leaders aren't the best. Now you can't remember why you wanted this job so bad in the first place. We've all been there at some point in our life. So if this is you, no worries you're not the first and you certainly won't be the last to go through this internal struggle. As a matter of fact, you'll probably find that you'll go through many of these depending on the season of life that you're in. so why does this happen? Well, it's because you forget what it's like, not to have it. You forget the desperation or the deep yearning for. Whatever it is that you want. Your daily struggles also become the highlight of your focus. So instead of giving praise, you're complaining about all the things you don't like. Your eyes and mind are basically fixed on what bothers you. It almost seems like nothing could ever satisfy you because there always seems to be something that is missing. So essentially you're realizing more and more as your eyes are fixed on the things that bothers you. What more you're lacking in. And then you're burnt out. So whether you're a mom. A working person, you're dealing with family situations, whatever the case is for you. It can become a lot to handle a lot of us, especially if you're someone who struggles to ask for help. Might be suffering in silence because well, pride gets in the way. You think that you can figure it out on your own. Or do everything. On your own. I'm so guilty of this. and I'm still working on it. Maybe it's not pride that gets in the way, maybe it's because you're too shy or embarrassed to reach out and ask for help. That was also me at some point in my life being worried that my question was going to come off really silly. So there are many reasons why we don't reach out and ask for help. These are just some of the few that I've experienced with. But whatever the case is, you're simply burnt out. You're feeling overworked. And under appreciated. All of this combined and more can lead you into the mindset that prompts you to have a negative dialogue towards your work. Again, and this episode work is more than just a paying job. It's everything that you put forth, an effort or energy into doing And we're going to take a look at this scripturally because since the beginning of time, man has been tasked to work. Genesis two 15 reads the Lord. God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it I'm reading from the English standard version. If you are a returning listener, you're probably going to hear this again because it was brought up any previous episode, titled from complaints to joy, embracing a new work mindset, where I talk about finding joy in work and viewing work as a way to honor God. It was also discussed. in that episode, why maintaining a positive attitude and perspective towards work is going to help aid you in a life of peace and fulfillment. So essentially this episode and the one I just mentioned can go hand-in-hand. So if you're looking for another episode to listen to right after this one, Check that one out it's called from complaints to joy, embracing a new work mindset. And that episode. I also talk about Genesis two 15 and dive into the difference of work and keep which I'll summarize. For today's episode as well, because it relates to the conversation. When you are working towards something, you're putting forth an effort towards a task. You are essentially preparing and tending. To the task that has been set before you. And friend. I love how a garden is often referenced in the Bible. You can see that in multiple parts or multiple chapters in the Bible, but. Today for this particular episode, I'm going to be in John 15, verse one through 17. I'm not going to read it all, but it is. Called. I am the true vine and I love how Jesus says in verse one. I am the true vine and my father, the vine dresser. This is the English standard version. Some of you may not know this. But I like to break down. Words in the Bible so that I can have a better understanding of what I'm reading. and not just gloss over what I'm reading and trying to make it fit into my life. I want my life to fit into what I'm reading, especially when it comes to the Bible. I hope that makes sense. So I'm going to geek out with you here for a little bit. So I just read you the English standard version, the king James version, which is one that I often compare the English and version to, because I love the different verbiage that is on there. It says I am the true vine and my father is the husband, man. So, this is where the geeking out was going to take place today. I'm going to break down my thought process on this so that you can hopefully get a more rooted understanding of how important this verse is. I really do recommend that you go and read all of John 15 one through 17, because it gives you so much more context and the importance of you being a branch from the vine. Two things that sticks out to me is the word is because it tells you that there is no one else, right? We know that God is the alpha and the omega. He is the beginning and the end. There's no one else. And then the second thing that sticks out to me is the word husband, man. Which. It's not a word that I see quite often. So of course it caught my attention I use blue letter, bible.org to help me with breaking down these words and understanding the Greek and Hebrew words the reason why I bring your attention to this is because I looked up husband, man. And I might be saying this wrong, but the Greek word for that is. Get our GOs. I'm probably not saying that. Right. But the reason why I forced myself to say it is because husbandman. The beginning portion ge it means land or ground and ergo or erdo is to do so. It translates to a husband, man is a tiller of the ground. And so, as you can see, when Jesus says I am the true vine and my father is the vine dresser. He is the gardener. He created the garden of Eden and so for me, that just. Paints a picture of how important it is that we recognize God. As the gardener, the one that plants, the seeds, the creator of life. And from that is the vine. Who is Jesus. So how can knowing this help you growth? Well, it can reset your mind to be more thankful for the work that you have. in Genesis two 15, we learn that. God put Adam in the garden to work it and to keep it. So no matter what you're doing, whether it is a financially paying job, navigating parenting life, navigating your marriage, working on your fitness journey, whatever it is, you can do it and not give up. Even when it is hard. Because you not only want to prepare and tend your work, but you want to guard it as a well. And that's where the word keep comes from in Genesis two 15, adam was put in the garden to work it and keep it. And when you keep something. You are going to guard it. Think of your work as a gift from God, my friend good productive work is not meant to be a punishment. Yes, it can be hard to get along with people that you're working with and there's other factors that are involved, but control what you can. You can still control your attitude and your mindset. Absolutely. You'll get annoyed at. And be bothered. But you can still be thankful in the midst of all of that. I said in last week's episode, consider it a blessing. When you go through hard times and be reminded that that's a great opportunity to fix your eyes on God, the tiller of the ground. The husband manned. The vine dresser. Trust that my friend, you are a well-taken care of and have everything that you need, even when it seems like you don't. Things will get hard, but don't give up. My friend, do not forget the blessings that come from the work that you have. It is a gift from God. And I get it. As time goes on, you realize that maybe your boss isn't the best boss. The policies are not the best policies, whatever troubles you have with this job You can still look at it with gratitude and be thankful that it has been given to you because there's so many good things that can come from it. It's up to you to decide if you're going to choose to look at it from that lens or continue to be in the mindset. Of complaining. and wanting to give up. So how are you going to work and keep the task at hand? Well, there's a couple of tips that I have for you. One is to know your, why. Because it is your reason that's going to anchor you when times get hard. It is going to be so important that you remember and know your why make sure your why is solid. Distractions and temptations play a role. And you wanting to quit, especially when you become bored or frustrated with your mundane everyday routine. So, no, your why? I'll let that be your anchor. It's really easy to quit something really, really easy. And so today's episode is message is to not give up, right. We're not in the business of giving up. And so even when things get hard, especially if you've had a very bad day at work, it's so easy to say. I don't even want to be here anymore. I just want to go. You want to also keep boundaries, set your boundaries and keep them guard those boundaries so that the work you're doing can be done with joy and peace. Now, this doesn't mean that you won't come across challenging times or have people that are hard to work with. Because you will, this is not an immune to that, but at least you'll have that kind of peace that keeps you from trying to only survive to truly living. There's a huge difference in trying to survive and truly living despite the chaos that is happening around you. You'll see it in your attitude and your mindset as you work towards keeping your boundaries. Now, with this being said, I also want to remind you that it is important that you discern when to extend grace and show mercy. Where it is needed. So keep a discerning heart for those times as well. And my friend I've said this before on the podcast, but it's always going to be about. Progress over perfection. It will always be progress over perfection.
