One Man's Quest to Beat Alzheimer's: Hassan Fadli, 5 Ironmans to Beat Alzheimer's
Jun 11, 2024
Alex Jani: interviewing visionaries of healthcare innovation

He dropped his engineering job to run 5 Ironman triathlons in 5 countries

for a cause.

But he did not foresee he would gather so many scientists on the way

that try to find a way to mitigate dementia

You’ll hear

  • what does it take to run an Ironman triathlon
  • how his family coped with his father’s Alzheimer’s
  • how he united several startups and researchers to launch a study on the impact of lifestyle on the epigenetic level – to mitigate dementia

My guest today is Hassan Fadli, a materials engineer with 20 years of experience as a technology lead in the solar energy industry. But we’re not going to speak about photonics. His family history made him turn his life upside down.

He’s founded "5 Ironmans to Beat Alzheimer’s”, a non-profit initiative to run 5 Ironman triathlons in 5 countries in one year. They film a documentary about it, also interviewing dementia specialists, societies, patients, and families in all these countries. After Switzerland and Portugal, there are 3 races ahead in 2024:

in France, Nice – on June the 16 UPDATE: finished and beat his record!
in Sweden, Kalmar – on August the 16
and Spain, Calella-Barcelona – on October the 6th
