Alex Jani: interviewing visionaries of healthcare innovation

Managing diabetes is complex enough, adding sports on top of it seems too much for many. But what if you had an app that would help?

You’ll hear about

  • the physiology of exercising with type 1 and type 2 diabetes
  • what can go wrong
  • hypoglycaemia and hiperglycaemia
  • ketoacidosis
  • tools to use to take control of the glucose level and do sports seriously, like there weren’t out there before

My guest today is Dr. Sam Scott, the Chief Scientific Officer at Enhance-d. An exercise physiologist with a vast background in researching diabetes and exercise in the UK, Canada, and Switzerland. He is an Advisor on the Exercise Physiology interest group leadership team for the American Diabetes Association. He used to be the Head of Research for Team Novo Nordisk the world’s first all-diabetes professional cycling team.

Enhance-d is a Swiss startup that develops an app for people with diabetes to exercise and even do professional sports safely by giving actionable, individualized insights drawn from a plethora of diabetes and exercise data.
