Today we have a special guest from around the world, and I know that no one can say their name or company like you can, so go ahead and introduce yourself and your company and we'll get started.

Speaker 1:

Man. Thank you for having me, michael. My name is Daniel Gomez Inspires and I'm a old-warning business coach and keynote speaker, and we do a lot of corporate trainings all around the world and adding value to people.

Speaker 2:

Where are you coming to us from today, man?

Speaker 1:

from the big state of Texas. I got my horse, I got my cow outside, so I rode him into the office today. No, I'm just kidding, I'm in San Antonio. San Antonio, texas, born and raised and uh is what we call home. Thought about moving to dadas one time, but got my senses together and stayed in san antonio yeah, texas is like what about 50 different states in one, like every?

Speaker 2:

every place kind of has their own little culture we just drove.

Speaker 1:

We had a big conference in in el paso and we drove nine hours still in texas. That's so it's a.

Speaker 1:

I get a kick out of it when we get friends or just different people that we collaborate with. Hey, I'm in Dallas, can you become meet me up? I'm like bro, dallas is like five hours from San Antonio and I think people, just right, if you're from Rhode Island or New York city or just the state area, you think it's like, oh, delaware, I can go from Delaware to Maryland, I go, and it's not no, here you drive for hours and you're still in Texas. But I love it, man, I wouldn't change a thing.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, we're in Oklahoma City and you mentioned how far it is to Dallas for you. It's closer to Dallas for us than it is to you and you're in the state, so if that tells anybody anything, so all right. Well, we're here to impact and help small business owners that might have lost a little bit of hope or vision, and so I know you've got a very successful record. But let's start from your beginning, maybe of what kind of led you to being an entrepreneur growing up. I think for me.

Speaker 1:

Just really, when I got into sales I didn't really realize it requires an entrepreneur spirit when you go to sales, right, so many small businesses, so many, I know disrespect to anybody, but we'll just call you, we'll just put a that way. We have a point of reference. We'll put the point of reference nine to five. Right, you have a job, you leave your nine to five, you want to leave corporate America and then you come into this business world and you have no sales experience. So for me, when I left my nine to five job back many, many years ago and I entered the automotive industry, I learned how to communicate. I learned how to sell myself to people, because before people buy anything from me, it doesn't matter what it is. It could be a vacuum, a toaster could be a post-it note. They ain't buying nothing from you if it doesn't matter what it is it could be a vacuum, a toaster could be a post-it note. They ain't buying nothing from you if they don't know you, like you and trust you and, most of all, they're buying you first.

Speaker 1:

So when I got into the automotive industry, I had some sales experience, but nobody celebrated me, Michael. Nobody said man, they had no way to go, dude. They said you know what this is. You know what my old boss told me. You know, when you walk out, you can't come back. And I said, well, I don't plan on coming back. And then my the other supervisor said well, you know, my brother-in-law tried it. I said, with all due respect, I'm not your brother-in-law and B I'm not trying this, I'm going to do this.

Speaker 1:

So I think there has to be a mindset shift when you come into business for yourself, right, when you become whether you label yourself as entrepreneur, small business owner, whatever it is you're in business, right, if you're in business, you're in sales, and if you don't have that newsflash, you ain't going to make it. That's why 90% of small businesses fell within the first year and then within the next five years, those 90% that the ones that survived it are out of business. So for me, my entrepreneur spirit came alive when I really entered the automotive industry and then I was really one of the top salesmen for many years with Chevrolet. I still wear my Chevrolet ring because it looks like a college ring, right, and for me it's a university of sales. I mean people, if you realize what value learning the skillset of sales, if you think about it, no industry I don't care, no business survives without sales and people miss that because they have the wrong stigma of oh, I don't want to be salesy and I don't want to. You're blocking your own success, ladies and gentlemen.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I don't recall where I heard this from, but many years ago I heard someone say even if you think you're not a salesperson, you're a salesperson. If you got a date with a person, you sold them on why they should go out with you or you get married or kids, you're trying to get them to do something. You're always selling. So that's a good point in business. And I had someone on our podcast not too long ago. They said you are the salesperson. No one can sell like you, the business owner. And for those of you that think that business is just going to come your way because of who you are, you're even giggling. It doesn't happen that way. You have to sell or learn to sell.

Speaker 1:

So what kind of got you? Something? I want to say to that, because this is a mistake that we make. We think we're going to go to go, daddy, go wherever you're going to go and get this website and you're in business. It doesn't work that way. But one thing that I really learned we just we were going on seven years of business. We just passed up our six year mark and and these people that are coming in now business coaching clients they're like, they've been watching me for three years, they've been watching me for four years, they've been watching me for a year and I'll never forget I went to this. We had this event in Miami with Floyd Mayweather and it was amazing. And I met a couple of high-level people there and came back didn't even realize. One of them particularly, was following me on Instagram and goes man, I've been watching you for about a year now. I need what you got, like, okay, what do I got? But in the conversation, my point is this is that even in social media, you're selling yourself. If you're putting trash content, they ain't going to buy you. If you ain't delivering value, they ain't going to buy you. So people think, oh man, well, no one's right, no one's responding to trust me.

Speaker 1:

When I was on LinkedIn for the first time, really on my own business, I wanted to give up. I was. I cried one day cause I was so frustrated, cause it's like there was no interaction. I was like but you got to earn it right, everybody wants to respect but they don't need, they don't want to earn it. And you got to be consistent in the game of your business. You got to be especially in social media and you got to post on a consistent basis and for me it's posting every day. Maybe for you it's posting every other day, whatever it is, find your rhythm, because people that you don't write people. I just did a post the other day that says this if you think the likes are paying your bills, you're mistaken, because I know many people that have 10,000 more likes than I do.

Speaker 2:

Mistaken because I know many people that have 10,000 more likes than I do and they still owe me money. I'm just being honest. No, it's, it's the truth and and believe so. I'm a business coach as well, on the operation side, and I have influencers of hundreds of thousands of followers that call me because they can't pay their bills Like they're. They're not making it, so don't let the vanity numbers fool you. And then I also want to piggyback just to give business owners a voice of hope, because you mentioned talking about likes and engagement. A lot of clients that will call me personally if they're wanting to work with me. They'll say, yeah, I've been following you, kind of like you mentioned a year or two or for a long time. I'll look back at our post and stuff. They never commented. They a year or two or for a long time. I'll look back at our posts and stuff. They never commented, they never engaged. But so don't let those numbers fool you. There's someone watching your stuff.

Speaker 1:

We just had this one particular and I would have never. Sometimes I unfriend people because we're growing our, our, our, our Facebook and just kind of redoing things. This lady just said, hey, I bought your book, okay, thank you. And she said, hey, uh, how do I get a call with you? And she turned into a high level client.

Speaker 1:

But imagine, imagine, if, if, if, a I wouldn't have been consistent and b, if I would have unfriended her because she's never commented and my, the old daniel right, this is where the evolution comes in business. You got to change the right, the same business, first. This is the first step. So, ladies and gentlemen, as you're taking notes, the first step is going. I do a big training called kill the employee mindset. Michael, you got to go from the employee mindset to the business mindset. That's the first huge step.

Speaker 1:

Then the second huge step is the same strategies that got you from zero revenue to a hundred thousand revenue are not going to get you to a quarter million dollars. And then that that whatever got you to a quarter million, they're going to get you to half a million. So we right, we're doing over a million dollars in revenue now and sometimes we get I get lazy. I'm just being honest with you right Like we've had so much success and it's just like our, our right, we, we're doing good. I live below my means, even though we do good. I don't. I could afford a lot more, but why? Right Like it's when it's proper, but right now we're investing in the business. But my point is this is that I told myself, like I'm unfriending people, I'm costing myself revenue long-term, because how do how do I know they're not liking me?

Speaker 2:

Yeah Well, it got you here.

Speaker 1:

Does that make sense?

Speaker 2:

Absolutely, absolutely so. So getting into the sales because that is obviously you have to have sales to operate a business what is kind of one of those first steps that someone that doesn't like to sell that they could do? Because I know a lot of business owners that are really good Maybe they're an electrician or a plumber or some kind of contractor and they're really good at what they do. They could probably be a good leader. But that's all internal stuff. Sales is external. What kind of advice do you have for those people that are just afraid of sales?

Speaker 1:

go in on this absolutely. It starts in the inside. First of all. You gotta, you have to learn how to develop a sales mindset. You have to be sales minded. What do I mean by that? You have to, I mean you have to go from that. We have a block. Whatever that block is, you're, you're, you're, you're.

Speaker 1:

Either you think people are salesy or you think sales people are bad, and especially when I was in the automotive industry, right, you have that old hard dog. So, so, really, the first thing is you have to open your mind that sales is a good thing. I think that you got to change your relationship with sales. That's the first thing. The second thing is many people because they don't have a sales mindset. The second thing that damages them is they have a poverty consciousness.

Speaker 1:

You hear people say this oh Michael, money's not important, money's not everything. Well, hello, you're in business. Start right. Try paying your employees with no revenue coming in. Try to pay your light bill. I just did this big training. I said how much do you think it costs to be in this organization as soon as they turn on the lights, how much do you think that light bill is monthly? They're like oh, a thousand 5,000. Try 13,000. Cause I had asked the CEO every month $13,000. So right, so as soon as you turn on that, as soon as you turn on the light switch, you have a $4,000 nut just in overhead. That doesn't even include your compensation of the 20 to 25%. So the main thing is you got to be open-minded to sales and then you got to change your relationship with money, because the truth is, 90% of Americans have a poverty consciousness.

Speaker 1:

I've never met you, michael. I don't know you from back in the days. We've met, we've connected. I'm blessed to be on your podcast, but where were you born and raised? Oklahoma City, okay. So you're literally nine hours away from me, in a whole different state. So I'm going to start this sentence right, because people are saying, daniel, well, money isn't important, but I'm going to prove a point to your audience. Not to prove a point, but to educate them to be open-minded. I'll start the sentence, michael, and let's just have fun with this for your audience. I guarantee you I bet you butet mignon steak that you're going to know the answer to every one of these. And I've never met you.

Speaker 2:

Wow, I hope so. You're setting the bar really high. I flunked in school.

Speaker 1:

Ready Money doesn't grow on trees. Who do you think you are? Jellybird gets the worm.

Speaker 2:

How do you know that? Maybe I did learn something in school?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, but you know the biggest lie that we've learned, that we believe in our society and we believe in this world. You're going to know the answer to this one too, and it's the biggest lie that hurts people. Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt you Right. Words will never hurt you, right. And what hurts more than anything that people carry around from their childhood? People carrying around from that ex-boss that told them they weren't good enough. People carrying around that counselor told them that you're not college material and they don't realize those beliefs that they embedded in them as a child or growing up, in those points of trauma in their life. They carry that and they wonder why their business doesn't succeed. And to them, because maybe they went and asked their mom or dad mom, dad, you know, maybe we'll just, we'll, just, we'll just use a female as an example really wanted to become a cheerleader, wanted to go to cheerleader camp. We can't afford it. Do you think what? Do you think?

Speaker 1:

Money grows on trees? Are you stupid or what? This is the way they people talk to their kids sometimes. So, because her mom and dad never really showed the importance of money to her. Now she's walking around with a belief Doesn't even know this embedded that money is important. So then Michael comes to her and says hey, you started a new business, I want to do this, I want to do this, I want to do that. And she's over here saying business is slow because she's not seeing the fact that Michael is going to turn into revenue, is going to turn into money right, it's going to turn into money. And she doesn't think money is important. So guess what? She deflects the very client in Michael that wants to work with her because she doesn't see the opportunity and better, she doesn't even see it.

Speaker 2:

Those are great points and I know for a lot of business owners that we work with. Their mindset is trapped in the income bracket that they were raised in. So, for instance, they might get a little further like if it was a middle class family, they might get a little further ahead than middle class, but they get stuck, and it's exactly what you're talking about, because they can't fathom having anything more than what they have.

Speaker 1:

So something I talk about in my book, the Makings of a Mid-Inner Mind, is I talk about your financial thermostat and your financial set point. And to the very point of what you just said. People don't even realize they have a financial set point. And to the very point of what you just said, people don't even realize they have a financial set point. Going back to sales, I do a lot of sales training, whether it's real estate, whether it's financial brokerage, whatever it is. Any sales team you go in there, you get, you get the. They call them right the new guy, the new gal, the green pea. They come in. We'll just say they were working at Home Depot as a point of reference for Lowe's. We'll give both of them a free plug on your show. Right, tell me, you want royalties.

Speaker 1:

So they're making $2,000 a month for the last two years that's 24 months, two years they're making $2,000 a month. They come into this sales position, whether it's real estate, whatever it is, boom, all of a sudden $5,000 the first month, what? Second month, 5,000. What? Now they're like on cloud nine. Now the third month.

Speaker 1:

Okay, the consciousness starts wearing off. Now you're going back to your subconscious thinking and now that we'll just say that the third month you hit 4,000. So you hit 10, you had five, five, four, 14,000. Usually by the fourth or fifth month. Why? This is a mistake that a lot of managers this is what they should tell me oh, you think you know at all, you're too smart for yourself. Now you think you know this. No, they didn't understand the behaviors behind your thinking and your subconscious mind and the way, the way your mind works. They didn't know that they just when you don't. You don't know what you don't know. So you have bad management, bad leadership teaching you wrong things. So then you think, like man, I'm shitty, right, I'm bad, I'm not good, but the reality is you made 5,000, 5,000, 4,000, 14,000. Your mind is saying this for the last 24 months I've been earning $2,000 a month. Three months is 6,000. I just earned three, right? I just earned nine months of salary. And what?

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Automatically, subconsciously, you start self-sabotaging yourself and you don't even realize it, because you go back to your financial set point of the 2,000 a month and you don't even realize what it is.

Speaker 2:

Wow, that's amazing. So do you have courses as well?

Speaker 1:

Yes. So we have an online program called the makings of a millionaire mind course 27 powerful modules. One thing I learned is I took two or three courses one time and I was bored because they're 30 minutes an hour long. I don't want to watch that crap. So we purposely give you 27 modules of seven to nine minutes of just content. That's going to hit you, and we created a. If you go to our website, the makings of a millionaire mind, it comes with a workbook. So we actually have a workbook. We invest a thousand to this program. That's why we sell thousands of them but it really walks you through.

Speaker 1:

What is it that's blocking your business from succeeding? What's blocking you from your career elevating? And your relationships. So we did that. And and your relationships? So we did that.

Speaker 1:

And then, next thing, you know, I went to this conference. So I put my book. I have a. I have a tendency of having my heart copy and I put it on wherever I go. I just set it up there where I'm sitting at as as an attendee, and then this one lady comes by and she goes. So what's the book about? I said, oh, it's about the millionaire mind. She goes. Okay, is there more to it. I'm like, well, what do you mean? She goes, yeah, is there a live event? At that moment, god had already been put it in my heart, michael, to have a bootcamp called the makings of a millionaire mind, which is behind me. So, yeah, we're going to have this bootcamp and we're going to bring in another multimillionaire speaker and just kind of just talk about business and life and what's blocking you. She goes, okay, great, okay, great. How do I go? How to buy a ticket? I said, oh, um, we're gonna create the event. She goes, okay, so how do I buy my ticket? I said you know what? Um, tickets are gonna run 2 000, but you're here, you're the first one buying one of the first tickets. I'll tell you what we'll give you a 50 50 scholarship. She bought a ticket for a thousand. Never met her in my life, but I truly believe that god put her next to me to buy a ticket for a thousand dollars. Now I was forced to create this event that I was kind of yeah, and we had our first millionaire mind boot camp.

Speaker 1:

I think it was going on three years ago and and, uh, it just we crushed it. We had people come in from all over the country. People were just crying and because they don't, you don't realize all the junk we have inside of us, that we've suppressed over the years. And and then these bootcamps, it's, it's it's not just me speaking and training, right, cause we do that crap in school all day and our kids don't learn anything. Let's just be honest, yeah, but when you come to the bootcamp, we coach you, we interact with you, we put other people on stage and we, we go through their scenarios and they have a breakthrough and they cry and then other people learn they're like right, because when somebody's being genuine, opens their heart in the room, then everybody starts opening their heart and then that's when you allow god to heal the heart and the soul. Whatever's going on and we've had people throwing up I mean it's just, it's just, it's phenomenal what happens? Because there's a big aspect of spiritual to and I'm not talking woo, so if of spiritual to, and I'm not talking woo-woo, so if you're listening to this, I'm not talking about the woo-woo, but there's a spiritual element to wealth. The Bible clearly talks about it. So we've seen so many breakthroughs when people come to our bootcamp.

Speaker 1:

It's a two-day bootcamp from nine to four, and we have a meet and greet the night before on a Thursday. It's always on a Friday and a Saturday. That way people can come in Thursday, get to know some other attendees and just you know, just feel comfortable with each other. And then, nine to four, both days, we just get to it and people just like have massive breakthroughs. We had a gentleman that came one time and he left and showed up. He goes Daniel, this is my picture of my new truck. I realized I wasn't playing big enough. I realized that I was limiting myself. I don't know what happened at your event, but you said, daniel, something unlocked in me and my revenue's up. I got a new truck. I can count on myself now because I know my truck ain't gonna break down. And thank you, and that's what it's about.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, that's a transformation. You're listening to Small Business Pivots. This podcast is sponsored by Boss, where business ownership is simplified for success. Boss helps business owners create a business that runs without them, with business consulting, business loans and much, much more. Go to businessownershipsimplifiedcom to learn why small business success starts with Boss. If you're enjoying the podcast and want to stay up to date with all of our episodes, make sure to hit that subscribe button, give us a thumbs up or leave a positive review. Let's get back to our guest now. Have you seen? Do you hear from any of your attendees as to how long it might take them to transition into that different mindset, into?

Speaker 1:

that different mindset. It's different and I'm going to tell you why. Everybody's at a different season in their life and some people come and believe it right away for themselves, and some people they have deeper issues. We've had many attendees that come back a second and third, even a fourth time, because we've had they were going on our fifth or sixth one already, because we have it twice a year, and I can tell you that I we've seen this on many occasions, where the husband will come or the wife will come once, and then the second or third time they'll bring the, they'll bring the wife or the spouse, and now it's accelerated. But but I would say, let me give you an example my director of operations. Now he was an attendee, he didn't want to come. He ended up coming because he felt like he needed, he was stuck in life and he was just stuck in what he was doing, retired from from the County, here in San Antonio, and now he's our director of operations. Now he just went and bought himself a new car. And it's not about buying yourself a new car, it's not about the standard, right, don't? Don't mistake me just about the material. But he's never had a car like that in his as a, as an adult adult, and it just unlocks something in him and he's helping our business grow and we've grown.

Speaker 1:

This first quarter we've I mean we've had our, our best years, the, our best months. We had our best quarter just january, february, march. So you see the confidence bills right. So what I love about what we do, michael, it's it's it definitely the the monetary elevates. Love about what we do, Michael, it's it's it definitely the the the monetary elevates. But something that I talk about in my book is is people have a poor self image as themselves and, ladies and gentlemen, if you get anything from this amazing episode, what Michael and myself is your life, your business, is never going to outgrow the current poor self-image you have of yourself. That's the lid that's hindering you right now. So we do a lot of work on self-image, we do a lot of work on self-esteem and people don't realize that, man, because if you don't believe you're worthy and deserving of more, you're never going to get it. You're always going to deflect it, michael amen.

Speaker 2:

I have found, with business owners that we work with, we encourage them to start each morning with something on their mindset, whether it be a devotional, whether it be spiritual, whether it be a book like yours because most of us are stuck in our mind of who people created us to be or told us we were, and so if you think about your life history, you're reminded of that.

Speaker 2:

All through your childhood, growing up how many ever times you were told that. So now it's up to you, as an adult, to remind yourself I'm not that person. So you can't just read something one time and all of a sudden go I'm a changed person. It's, it's. It develops over time, and I love the attendees that come back and back again, cause they're just getting refreshed and revamped and hearing it again and so it's a. I'm a big, big, uh student of neuroscience, so I understand the synapses and how you can truly retrain your brain. For those that want to debate. That you can, but you truly can retrain your brain for those that want to debate. That you can, but you truly can retrain that mindset, and I love this stuff that you're talking about.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. Well, the thing is that the mistake that we make as as adults is oh, I already watched that movie. Oh, I already read that book. I guarantee you, within a month, you forget 80% of what you read. Yeah, even more you, you forget 85 of what you listen to. So, even though you listen to an audiobook completely six hours long, you're not going to remember it, I guarantee you, when you go back.

Speaker 1:

Because, going back to our online program, what we tell our, our, our clients is listen to each lesson twice, because you're not, you don't have the active listening to capture everything on this video. So, listen to this module, put your answers down and then go back and listen to the modules again, cause, like I said, they're only seven to eight minutes. Some of them are nine minutes long. So, within 20 minutes, you've already listened to this module, put your first round of answers and then you listen to it again and they're like Daniel, you're right, it's amazing what you listened to the second time. How did I miss that? It's only eight minutes long, because you're right.

Speaker 1:

First of all, we don't have the awareness. You're not going to soak it in. So it's kind of like a rubber sponge right, you put water and it's going to go over it because it can't soak it up. But you have a sponge that it's already primed Now. But you have a sponge that it's already primed Now. Okay, now it's going to soak up some water because now it's primed. A dry, dry, dry sponge, that is just all rubbery. It's going to wash over, spill over.

Speaker 2:

I appreciate all this information. This is good, good stuff and for the listeners, I encourage you to go check out all the things that you have provided for people, the resources. I want to get to some pivots that you've learned through business. What are some challenges that you overcame? How did you deal with those? If you've got one or two on the top of your mind?

Speaker 1:

I think, for me, I'm passionate about self-image. As men, right, I think, especially as a Hispanic Mexican man here in San Antonio we carry around a lot of shame and you have to get over that, because one thing that I've seen, especially in men in business it's in women, but I've seen it more in men that they carry a lot of shame, they carry a lot of guilt and they carry a lot of regret Because we're taught to be tough, we're taught to be machismo, we're taught to be the leaders, and it's my way, the highway, the old school way of thinking for many men that I coach over 50 and myself, right, I'm 50 years old myself and the problem with that is is you carry that shame because of the mistakes you made when you were younger and that hinders your business from growing, because now you feel guilty, you don't feel you deserve that kind of a success. So one of the biggest things I ever did for myself, michael, is really to forgive myself. You're like unforgiveness is going to hinder my business. Hell, yeah, it is yeah, because you're going to self-sabotage yourself and A you're going to go drinking, you're going to go have an affair, you're going to go and do pot or whatever you do, you're going to. Whatever that pain is, whatever that pain point is for you, you're going to try to find it through food, right?

Speaker 1:

I know men that just blow up and wait. They don't. They stop working out. It's because they feel guilty and they don't know how to deal with. They don't know how to forgive themselves.

Speaker 1:

So I think for me it was really forgiving myself, not not at the shallow level, but really I probably went through like three deep exercises, michael, where I forgave myself, and the reason I say that is because the mistake that we make many times as human beings is oh, I already forgave so-and-so, or I already forgave myself, yeah, but there's a thing that people miss is, as God's taking you higher, you must go deeper, and many people don't want to go deeper to that deeper shame, that deeper guilt, those deep skeletons in the closet, and it's a proven fact.

Speaker 1:

I mean, right, people want to know what? Right, really, daniel, I'm like, yeah, everybody's talking about the highest skyscraper in dubai right now, but what they're failing to realize that that tallest skyscraper in dubai that surpassed hong kong and china in height, it also has the deepest foundation in any building in the world. But people ain't talking about that because you can't see it, because there's no way of going higher in business, there's no way of going higher in revenues, there's no way of going higher in the marketplace if you don't go deeper, because that won't be sustainable. You might be able to balance it and wiggle around here for a year or two, but we've all seen those people that they could end run. But I'm being honest right, you start building something and you can't sustain it. It's going to collapse.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah. So, speaking of people, you mentioned an attendee I believe is now your director of operations. Is that what you were referring to? Yes, sir, yeah, okay, so you have a team. Any wisdom that you've learned over the years of building a team and how to find good people and retain those?

Speaker 1:

you got to get on your own way. I think the biggest problem is you've been a solopreneur for so long and then people try to add value to you and love you as a human being and you don't know how to receive that love and you don't know how to reciprocate it sometimes because you're just being used to doing it by yourself and for me. We do book publishing here at DG Enterprises. I have four employees in the back end. They do our podcast launching, they do our graphics, our branding for our clients, and they're amazing. I just right Everybody from them. A lot of those are remote. We have people in New York State, we have people on the East Coast, but I don't see them all the time.

Speaker 1:

So when I had my old assistant, right before we launched the makings of a millennial mind, you know she was doing some sales for me. So it was easy because it was just us two and we were at the time we were crushing it. So I thought so when she left she took away like I don't know, maybe she was producing maybe like five or 6,000 in revenue, maybe more, maybe closer to 10 on a consistent basis, so monthly, which, hey, 10,000 a month. I'll take it Right. So when she left, I'm like man, my revenue went down. But in that same time our brand came out and our prices went up. Right, I was in higher demand. So God said raise your prices. So now I was making more revenue. They didn't have an pay that $5,000 a month monthly her salary. I'm like man, I'm winning.

Speaker 1:

So I got used to working by myself for the last two years. So I had to be open-minded again and really focus on two things A understanding the personality of each. We don't call them salespeople, we call them client specialists. So I brought in Jacob. Jacob became my director of operations right, I'm the visionary. So Jacob runs the backend. And then we brought in two client specialists. But now everybody in the office because we have a corporate office has a different personality and as a leader, as a business owner, you got to learn to speak to his personality, her personality and then Jacob's personality. And the mistake that we make is we want to speak to everybody the same. Yes, you're going to have a general meeting and speak to them the same, but then you got to take time to communicate with them at their level, where that's the biggest mistake and that's why over 70% of corporate and business employees are disengaged because they don't connect with the leadership at that level.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, there's definitely a disconnect. Do you use any type of assessments? We coach and teach DISC. Do you use any kind of assessments like that to kind of learn those individual behavioral traits?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I'm not a big DISC fan, but we do use our own. Okay, we do have a personality, we use it. When I learned back in the car business, I learned it through the old school way. Right, you have your amiable. Right, there's four dominant personalities. And you got your analytical buyer, you got your analytical person, you got your driver, you got your expressive. Then you got your analytical buyer. You got your analytical person, you got your driver, you got your expressive. Then you got your amiable. And two are introverts, two are extroverts.

Speaker 1:

So I teach corporations how to communicate to them, because they each has their own right. How do you know who's who? Well, whoever's late is Daniel Gomez? Right, I'm an expressive, I'm the life of the party and it's like I'm spontaneous. But you speak to these people on the other side of the quadrant and they're like 10 minutes early, very detailed, and I teach people this. And then it's. It amazes me so much, michael, when I do these in corporate right, cause I've done trainings for, for AT&T, for Gold's Gym, for the United States Air Force. That was our big break to fame in the market because I said, well, we can train the United States Air Force, we can definitely add value to your organization, but the thing that they miss is that they don't talk that way to every single person in their office.

Speaker 1:

And then B? I've seen so many marriages and just father and daughter and father and son and parents connect with their kids because they're like and they cry and they just stay there like that. I'm like what's wrong? It makes sense now Because you got two boys at home or two daughters, and as a parent, you try to mother them or parent them the same way. No, each boy has his own personality. Each daughter has her own personality Because, even though they're both, each boy has his own personality. Each daughter has her own personality because, even though they're both females, they have their own personality.

Speaker 1:

And the biggest mistake that they make is they don't realize that your personality is part of your DNA. And I go deep on the DNA aspect. The same way, you're lighter complected than me, that's part of your DNA. The same way I'm darker than you, it's part of my DNA. The same way you have lighter brown hair, that's part of your DNA. Your personality is part of your DNA. So when I go in there and do these huge corporate trainings, people have massive breakthroughs, definitely in the business aspect. But what brings me joy too is when we see marriages restored because they're like, wow, like that's my wife, that's my husband. And then they start crying Like I see that all the time. It just it's because people don't know what they don't know.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, I say I say that all the time, especially as business owners we don't know what we don't know. So I have a podcast guest that was on great, great connection on LinkedIn, mike Beckham. He's the owner of Simple Modern, which is your drinkware type company big, big company and he said your culture, your company culture, has a DNA and it's what it's the 90 day experience that your employees experience, so you can have your mission statement, all that, which is really good because it sets the bar. But if you don't stay on top of that, you lose the DNA of your company. It becomes what they want versus what you want, and so I love how you're saying connecting with people differently is essential to success in a business, unless you, like you said before, want your company to go under. But that's a key to finding good people and keeping them.

Speaker 1:

Massive, massive, huge. And I would even go deeper. It's just what Beckham said is right. People don't talk about the vision, they don't talk about the mission. They do it in January. This is a mission for 2024. This is a vision. And then they don't speak about it ever, ever again. And they wonder why. Everybody's going left and some are going right. I call it right. They have the army effect left, right, left, left, right. Well, yeah, they're all over the place, left, right, left. Because you haven't talked about the visions in january 2nd, when you had your meeting, and then you forget about it and you expect them to know it, it. It doesn't work that way. Out of sight, out of mind.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I believe he's the CEO and co-founder of the company, but they're a hundred million dollar plus company and he said that about 60 to 70%, I believe, of his time a CEO is working on the company culture, the DNA of the company, so everything aligns. I appreciate you sharing that. What is the best way for people to follow you? Get in touch with you. Where would you like to lead them first?

Speaker 1:

Well, I'll tell you what. You can follow me on all social medias Daniel Gomez Inspires. That's Daniel Gomez Inspires. On Facebook, also on Instagram.

Speaker 1:

I believe in giving back and we send you a link, we schedule the time for you and it's real easy, because I believe in helping people. I mean, we're all God's kids and if we don't help people, I'm where I'm at, because I do know my value, but I do know that there's people that need help sometimes because they don't realize it, and there's people that have helped me along my journey, because I wouldn't be here where I'm at without people helping me.

Speaker 2:

Amen, and I'll put all that information in the show notes for those listening. So, wrapping up, if you were in front of a audience of small business owners, only what is one thing that you could share with them that would apply, or be applicable, to the entire crowd?

Speaker 1:

That's easy Go to Amazon or go to Audible and get a copy of the Makings of a Millionaire Mindcom. It's the best book you're ever gonna buy. It's a workbook inside of it. And then go to our website, themakingsofamillionairemindcom, and get your workbook. Get your online program, because the thing is this is that nothing changes if you don't change. Right, amen, change, change the thinking, change the results. And the only way you change the thinking is by changing the output. So get some of our content, get our online program.

Speaker 1:

I mean, it's like saying, michael, it's like you're telling me daniel, if you gave me a thousand dollars, would you give me a thousand dollars for a hundred thousand? Heck, yeah, I would. Well, that's what you're doing, you're. If you gave me $1,000, would you give me $1,000 for $100,000? Heck, yeah, I would. Well, that's what you're doing. You're getting the program. It's going to quadruple what you're doing, even 100 times. So it's just really being open-minded to the new.

Speaker 1:

And you just got to watch what am I taking in? And I don't just say that because it's our book, because I get messages on a daily. Man, your book changed my life, man. Man, your book changed my life, man. I didn't realize this was going on. Man, your program did this, and because it's it's it's value and and maybe you're out there like my business is struggling I want you to do this and to answer your question, michael, even deeper is really think about. Is what I'm bringing to the marketplace? Does it truly have value? Because the only way to monetize something, to really monetize your business, is money, is this is what monetization means Money is given when value is received, and if you're not delivering value and you got to be honest with yourself then you got to give more value and then that's where the money is going to come in and that's where you're able to monetize at a higher level.

Speaker 2:

Michael, that is golden advice and to piggyback on that, I often say until you change, nothing around you will change. So it starts with you. So go get his book, go check it out. I encourage everybody to do that. Daniel, you've been a blessing today. Appreciate you. Wish you continued success. Thank you, my brother.
