Speaker 2:

And for today's show we will be joined by Jane from Jane's ear, full creations. She makes custom Minnie mouse ears and recently started adding some unique cups and mugs to her shop. Jane's products are super affordable and we're excited to have her on the show. She offers all kinds of really cool designs from spooky fun Halloween designs to superhero designs. And she even has some really cool ones with one of Chris's favorite characters who's not a Disney character, but she does have some really cool designs. And so we're excited to have her on the show. And in recent, she recently launched some cups and mug offerings in her shop like recently within the week that this episode will be coming out. So it got me thinking about, we've done a past episode about coffee drinks available on property. Do you remember that one, Chris? Yeah. So I'll put a link for that. But we haven't talked about other non alcoholic drinks that are available at Walt Disney world. So we're going to talk about those today. And I haven't broke down into a couple of different categories. First I have the ones that are at the parks and then I have some of the ones that are outside the parks that the resorts and other locations. And if few of these we've had some of them we haven't. Hopefully some of these might be. I know even just researching for this episode, there's a few that I've kind of added to my list of snacks that I want to try on our upcoming trip. So I'm going to see throughout here, I'm going to try to quiz Chris and see if he remembers some of these different drinks that we've had. Sure. So we're going to start with the most logical park that people tend to start with, which is magic kingdom. And we're going to go into fantasy land to get Stan's Tavern. And this has all kinds of fun themed snacks. And we in fact had this drink, I believe it was either before or after we got, uh, did the meet and greet with Guston. So kind of along those same lines. And it's also a nice place to cool off in the summer. It was pretty hot when we were there. Was it summer, but it was still pretty more so this is in[inaudible] Tavern. As I mentioned, it's a little fewers brew. And so this is a frozen Apple juice that has a little bit of a marshmallow flavor and some passion fruit mango foam. Do you remember trying this, Chris? I think it was a day that he wasn't feeling the best, but I know I really enjoyed it. I've had it more than once and it is nice and refreshing, especially on a hot day at the park. Now the next one that we're going to talk about, I know Chris has had, I don't think he's ever bought it for himself. I think he's had just some of mine. And that's a Dole whip float. Yeah. I've never bought one for myself. Yeah, I think you've had some of though. Yeah. So that's at a low hot aisle or you can, and of course that's in adventure land or you can also try at the pineapple Lanai at Disney Polynesia resort. And so what this is, is this takes the traditional dual with ice cream and they put pineapple juice on top. So it makes it into a float. I'm not normally a float person, like I'm not wanting to get a float with Coke on it or a root beer flow or anything like that. I do like the Dole whip. I don't like the foam that you get with the pop floats. But this flow I do enjoy. I'm so you do have a couple of different options. There are some other places throughout property where dual whoop is available and I've not always seen the float available. So I know though for sure you can get that Aloha aisle or at pineapple and I at the Polynesian. So those are a couple of different options of some different drinks that you can get at magic kingdom. And there's going to be a few more that I'm going to mention later that are available throughout property that you can also find at magic kingdom as well. And we're going to move over to Epcot in both of the drinks that I found at Epcot we've not had, but I think that they are ones that we would enjoy. And the first one is in China. And Chris, what was one of our favorite things when we were in graduate school to get, yeah, so we loved bubble team when we were in graduate school at Michigan state university and in China there's a nice place there where you can get um, at the joy of tea. They have all kinds of variety of teas and fruit flavored cheese that you can get and they will blend them into smoothies. But then of course the most natural favorite for a lot of people is bubble tea and peach with the black tea and the tapioca, those, those tapioca pearls. It's kind of a favorite. And I know peach was always something I tended to get when we got bubble tea. What was your go-to flavor? Coconut. Coconut. So there's lots of different options at the joy of T N China. So definitely check that out. And I would be interested, I've haven't had bubble tea in a while. I think I may have to get one when we go and March. A second thing that you can try at Epcot is in the American right by the American pavilion, which of course what happened in America, Chris, freedom from the British in F cut. Oh well we got married. Yeah. So we got married there. So we, it's always usually a stop on our trip and at the Fife and drum, which is kind of that quick service where you can get funnel cakes and different things. Um, they have a unique drink that is called the American dream. So this one is, you'll is kind of neat. It has a ma, it's a frozen drink, so definitely something that could help you cool off on one of those hot days. It's a mix of frozen strawberries, vanilla ice cream and frozen blue raspberry kind of slush sort of thing. And so it has, so the frozen blue slush is actually frozen blue raspberry Phanta and then it's fantasy strawberry that's frozen as well with the vanilla ice cream mixed through. And it looks, it's in that red, white and blue color. It's fairly reasonable price. And I believe it's usually a snack credit. I haven't seen where it's not been a snack credit in the past. So definitely check out the American dream at the Fife and drum. We don't get a lot of fruity drinks, but what do you think about that? When do you think that would be a good one? Yes. Now moving from Epcot, we'll move over to Hollywood studios and we've had a couple of different unique drinks there. Um, one of the restaurants that we've eaten at quite a few times is the 50s prime time cafe. And what do they have over there, Chris? They have a peanut butter and jelly milkshake. What did you think about that? When we had that?

Speaker 3:

It was okay. Is that your favorite thing on the eighth okay. Yes. Okay. What'd you have it again? I guess? No, I would not. I think a combination of like the Disney Disney prices and I'm just not really a big drinks guy, so it's not like a case where it's really a destination for me or really an experience like with the door whip. Um, I'll have a couple of bites, but that's it, right? There's just very few things that at least with within Disney food that I have to have every time except for Ohana. Correct.

Speaker 2:

Now I actually had this, of course they serve it in the restaurant, but I've been a few times with some friends and when it's kind of hot out, they do have the bar area at the prime time cafe where we've gone in just to get even just like soft drinks and things. And I've been where people you can order the milkshakes at the bar as well. Of course they have alcoholic options also. Um, but that I enjoyed the peanut butter and jelly milkshake. I'm not normally somebody who is a big milkshake person, but I do like peanut butter a lot. So I think that's kind of why I liked that one. Another one that is a recent addition at Hollywood studios recent in the last few years is at Woody's lunchbox and at tour story land. And this one is a little bit different. Chris likes to have some different soft drink, um, options. He might like this one. So this one, I don't know. Do you like power ADE though? Okay. So this one is at, as I mentioned at Woody's lunchbox in this is a mix of power aid Berry blast, and then they add in lemon lime, which I'm assuming must be Sprite and then Tangerine. So it's supposed to be very good. It's called mystic mortal punch. And to me it sounds like it would be something good to try. I've not tried it before. What do you think? Would you try that out? I mean I would try it. I mean if you got it, I'd have a separate too. Now the regular option is only like$4 and 49 cents as of when we're recording this in early 2020 but they do have an option that's quite expensive. It's almost$15 but it's a really cool alien CLA cup, like the aliens with the claw or like alien saucers. So it's kind of a neat thing. So you get the drink and a nice little souvenir. So something that you may want to actually, I guess that's$16 the souvenir ones. So something to keep in mind, but you can just try the drink for around four 50 now. Moving from Hollywood studios, we're gonna move to our last park and that's going to be animal kingdom. And this one is a little, this one kind of is a throwback to what we talked about in China, but this one is really kind of gotten hot I think so since Instagram and people liking to pose with unique and cool food. This is in Pandora and it's the Pongo Pongo Stan and it's a mix of lie made with Apple and dessert. Pear tapped with fruit, Boba balls and you can have no, none of the, you can have those removed if you want. Um, they also have an alcoholic version of this you can can try. Um, but that sounds pretty interesting. They also have a souvenir mug in Pandora if you wanted to. This is one a little bit more expensive drink that they have and now of course it's called the night blossom. Um, so if you want to check that out, that is in Pandora and it's supposed to be quite good. I think the passion fruit Boba balls would be kind of interesting to taste cause most of the time, um, they're just that general tapioca flavor. So might be worth checking it out next time you're in animal kingdom. Now the next one I'm going to quiz Chris and see if he remembers where we had this drink. Okay. Okay. So this drink is a, it's a juice and it's a mix of passion fruit, orange juice and guava juice. So where are we headed? Yes. And you want to know the name? That will help me. Okay. Okay. The hint, please. It's at one of the special events with Disney food and wine drinks and wine, cheese and wine. Good guess it's Lila koi juice. And you can get it at the Polynesian, which I think we've had it there. You can get at animal kingdom lodge, but you can also get it at things through Disney catered events. Oh yeah. So we went, so we've had two catered events at Disney. Which one did we have? The Lula coy juice. I'm going to guess our vow renewal. You had a 50 50 chance. It was actually at our wedding. Well we have, but it was a good guest because at both our wedding and our phone renewal, we had brunches and we did have this. So the Lila koi juice, you don't have to go to a special event with Disney. You can get it at several other restaurants at animal kingdom lodge. And then at the Polynesian resort I've had it at. When you've gone for breakfast, you can typically get this. I know it can vary and sometimes it has some different names, but sometimes it's called jungle juice. Sometimes it's the Lila coy. Just depends on where you're finding it. And it is quite good. As I mentioned at the beginning, it's passion fruit, orange juice, and guava juice. And you can find that recipe. I've even made it at home for one of our anniversaries. I think it might've been our first anniversary. I made some at home. It's quite tasty. It would be even something good as an alternative to punch if you were having a party. So that's an option at multiple locations on property. And then last but not least, uh, well actually there's still a couple more, but last one that's available at multiple location is something called Goofy's glacier and it's frozen slushes, but they have every kind of imaginable flavor. They have them at Disney Springs, at Goofy's, candy company, big top souvenirs and fantasy land. So that's the one that I mentioned that you could also get at magic kingdom. So goofy glacier, if you have kids that love those flavored slushies, they have way more than your typical gas state. I always think about slushies like seven 11 or like where we live, they're Speedway and different gas stations, that sort of thing. They have a lot more options with the goofy glaciers. So check that out. If you're somebody who's a big slushy fan and if it's super hot, they're really cold, they can help cool you off and are a nice, nice option. Now next we're going to talk about, um, a couple of the cool drinks that are available at some of the resorts. And the first one we're going to talk about what's kind of our favorite resort that we like to stay at. Oh, port Orleans. Yes. So at port Orleans Riverside in ironically as many times as we've stayed there, I don't think I've personally, have you ever been to the money rivers pool bar? Of course not. No. I, well I didn't know if you had ever went over there with friends and stuff. Um, so the main friends, we had friends that came to our wedding in foul renewal. Um, so this is at the main pool and there's a thing called the bull frog brew and this is a mix of lemonade, green Apple flavoring and Kiwi. And they serve it in a light up Mason jar. So it has a little bit of that extra magic. Of course Disney has to include, um, so that's available at the muddy rivers pool bar and I think I may have to try that out one time we were staying there and it's quite, and finally our, last but not least, I don't know. Would you say that you enjoy milkshakes or you just would have them if you're at certain things? If I'm answering things, I can count on probably one hand the number of milkshakes I have outside of Disney and steak and shake. So this is at boardwalk at ample Hills Creamery, which is a ice cream shop and it's a favorite for many people. A scream stop and they have some really creative flavors of milkshakes. And we're going to be saying on a next trip, we're staying a couple of nights at the dolphin. So we'd be a short walk away from here. Might be Chris is an ice cream fan, so it might be worth going over there. He can get an ice cream and I can try out a tasty milkshake because they really do. They rotate the different flavors. They have a lot of like thick things in it. So you might, these are more milkshakes that you sometimes want to use a spoon for. Um, so lots of different great options at ample Hills Creamery on the boardwalk as well. So really lots of great things to try out. Whether at the parks or being on gives you a nice refreshing thing, especially if you're in the Florida heat, you're able to kind of get something that's going to cool and refresh you when you are trying to be cool off a little bit when you're in the parks or out shopping or something or at your resort. So definitely check out some of these non alcoholic drink options. As I mentioned, I'm going to include the link to when we talked about the different coffee options on property as well and we are going to get Jane on the phone here in just a minute.

Speaker 4:

We'd like to welcome Jane to the show tonight. Jane is with Jane's ear full creations and we have, she does all kinds of custom Minnie mouse ears as well as mugs and cups. She just started exploring, she's from California and does some neat pop up events so if you're in the area she caters to Disney fans that of course are looking for some unusual mini ears but she also does some cool spooky and superhero sort of themed ones as well. So we are super excited to have Jane on the show with us today. Hi everybody. So we always like to start out with a icebreaker with our guests and a icebreaker today we'd like to find out who is your favorite character to meet at the parks? My favorite character to me would be Jack Skellington. Okay. And add, do you like to meet him at any of the special events or where? Where's your favorite place to meet him? Um, usually it's actually right next to the parts of the Caribbean accent. Oh nice. Oh nice. Yeah. Cause I know where you said Disney world, it's hard to catch him like they have him at the Halloween party and different things. They always forget that you guys sometimes have access to different characters than we do.

Speaker 5:

Yes. So you do. So we'd like for you to start out and tell us a little bit about your business and what products that you offer that are connected to Disney. Well, my business started about a little more than a year ago and it actually started with just many mouse gears. I custom made them from fabrics that I purchased myself and I literally hand make everything besides the fabrics, the shape of the ears to putting the fabric together to adding the bowl.

Speaker 4:

Oh my goodness. And I always have to ask because I love, I loved looking at all of your cute ears and stuff. People always ask because I know like myself, I have a bigger head. How does, did, yeah, so like the ones that you buy at the parks always the headbands always kinda hurt my head. Do you offer like are yours a little bit larger because as you're doing that custom stuff, is that anything that anybody's ever asked you about before?

Speaker 5:

Um, I usually get a question if they're big enough or small enough or baby sure. But they usually fit like teenagers to adults and they do expand a little bit for people that have like a little bit,

Speaker 4:

well it's always nice because I find that vendors like yourself, you guys always take into consideration lots of things like the first smaller heads or all the different designs and stuff. So what are some of the different designs that you have? What are some of your common ears that you make?

Speaker 5:

The most popular ears would be either superheroes or nightmare before Christmas and nice especially it comes like, uh, like Aladdin or Milan.

Speaker 4:

Oh nice, nice. And then do you do custom orders as well?

Speaker 5:

I do, yes I do. Um, depending on the fabrics that I have, I'll let them choose if that's what they want. For example, if it's a Harry Potter one and they don't mind the design or what I do is I go look for a different fabric than just offer them to see which one they liked the best.

Speaker 4:

Oh nice. And so if somebody was interested in ordering things from you, do you do direct? Is that how you do then?

Speaker 5:

Yeah, if you direct message me, I actually have been Mo PayPal or square to pay off or you can even send cash.

Speaker 4:

Oh nice, nice. So you have lots of different options. So with killer, what's the best place people can connect with you?

Speaker 5:

Usually you can connect the fastest ways to do Instagram. And then I do also have a Facebook, but I'm literally more active on Instagram.

Speaker 4:

If you could just for our listeners, tell us what your Instagram handle is.

Speaker 5:

You know what it's, you could just find me on the James, but your book creations, I'm the only one there.

Speaker 4:

Perfect. Yeah, totally. It'll just take a little bit of a step. What was your motivation to start your business?

Speaker 5:

My motivation was literally just seeing all these expensive Minnie ears at the park and just wanting to buy all of them. And not only that, but even though the, the science that they have at the park are really cute, I would always want something you need that nobody had.

Speaker 4:

Yes, yes, that's true. Yeah, I have that thing too. So did you start making them for yourself then?

Speaker 5:

I did. Um, I'm a big zombie fan as well, so I started with zombie think years and then I just moved up. I started doing, um, like a Frankenstein in the bride. I started doing like Marvel iron man. So a little bit of everything.

Speaker 3:

Cool. And so, you know, really so far what, you know, you listen to some of your favorites. What's been your favorite customer order that you've done for another Disney fan?

Speaker 5:

I recently did, I actually did an Aladdin theme piers for one of my close friends and usually anytime she's going to go to the park, she just messaged me right away and she's like, this is the fabric I want. Can you make it? And I'm like, of course I can make it for you.

Speaker 4:

Oh nice. Very cool. Yeah. And what do you think then you said that you've done of course the Aladdin that you mentioned. What do you think is your most unusual custom order that you've done?

Speaker 5:

The most unusual would be Halloween being because a lot of my, my like fan base, it's all Disney. So when it comes to all the ween, I have to kind of transition from Disney and to spooky

Speaker 4:

and he brought you to right. Very cool. And I know you had a lot of cute holiday ones over the Christmas holiday as well too.

Speaker 5:

I did, yes. So that's another transition I did. I went from like Disney to spooky to all Christmas. I also did the Grinch.

Speaker 4:

Oh yes, I did see the grin. Smiths ones. Yes. And I liked how you had like the pompoms on the outside cause you utilize, it looks like a lot of little extras on that. Arama the ears. I guess

Speaker 5:

I try to go a little bit overboard with a little pump. OnX. I thought they were simple.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, it was very cute because a lot of people was the trim and different things and is a very nice addition.

Speaker 5:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

And then roughly, you know, for you, what is your lead time that you would need for a custom order?

Speaker 5:

Well it used to take me about an hour when I first started. Uh, but once I mastered a technique and everything, it usually takes me 30 to 40 minutes per set of ears.

Speaker 3:

Perfect. No, so like, you know, we're in Michigan and if we're going to go, we're actually planning on going here in a couple of months. How soon should I order to make sure that we would get them in time for our trip?

Speaker 5:

Usually if you order them, like for example, on a Monday I shipped them out right away. They would probably get there between two to four days.

Speaker 4:

Wow. That is awesome. Wow.

Speaker 5:

It is. You placed the order and you sent the payment. I go ahead and finish the ears, send you a picture of the completed order if the person is satisfied because if it wanted custom me, I usually take the order and see if they want a different type of color or a different color of trend. So it all depends.

Speaker 4:

Oh nice. And that's a great turnaround too because I know sometimes you're planning a trip and then you start packing and they're like, Oh no, I wish I had this accessory or those ears or something to go with a particular outfit or something. It's nice to know that if you were two weeks out you could still get something.

Speaker 5:

Definitely, definitely. As soon as that transaction goes through, I work on it right away and then I try to ship it as soon as possible.

Speaker 4:

Nice. And now one of the things we always like to ask is how do you think that your products can add a little bit of Disney magic to our listeners lives?

Speaker 5:

I feel like it's a lot better when it's handmade and it's made by a person that actually puts effort and time and the love and care for them after they were for myself.

Speaker 4:

Right, right. And that's so do you think then, um, what, what kind of sparked that idea in you to kind of share that Disney magic, cause you mentioned about doing it for yourself, but then how did you kind of spark and decide to start doing it for others and share that experience?

Speaker 5:

Because I realize that not everybody wants to seem kind of ears. Not everybody wants to go to Disneyland and find like a sparkle set of heres, they always want to be different or uni so they can stand out for sure.

Speaker 3:

Wonderful. And then you know the ones I have to say, I really like her, the joker ones cause I love the new jumper filament.

Speaker 4:

He's like I might need to get some ears. He said,

Speaker 5:

yeah, those are definitely great. The material was like very vibrant and very colorful and I actually gave them out the last giveaway I had.

Speaker 4:

Oh, where are they? Part of that.

Speaker 5:

Yes, I do give away about once a month or so.

Speaker 3:

And so for our listeners, it's another reason to, you know, again, follow Jean on Jane's ear, full creations at Instagram and also Facebook. And then the other pieces is that, you know, for some folks like myself, I want him interested in a character but I don't have a design. Are you willing to just design something for somebody that you know, have it designed from your heart and then just do it for other folks?

Speaker 5:

I can't really custom make in myself. I mean, if it's already like on the fabric I can make it out of the fabric.

Speaker 3:

No, very true. But like, let's just say I wanted, you know, Aladdin and I just said, I don't really, you know, I just want you to create something for me. Are you willing to speak, kind of use your magic to create something special?

Speaker 5:

Yes, absolutely. I, I've had a few cases like that where they're just like, give me this character and I trust you in making it great. So

Speaker 3:

perfect. Because I know that, you know, and that's wonderful. And I think to your point, you know about having something unique, you know, because it seems like it's as big as Disney is, there's only so much product and it seems to be so similar. And to have something like, like you said, to go into the park and be unique, you can really stand out in those big crowds.

Speaker 5:

Definitely. And not only for Disneyland, but I do make other themes that you can wear to like universal studios or six flags or the Halloween events that they have. So.

Speaker 4:

Nice. Nice. So you have lots of different things and now we've talked a lot about your ears, but I know that you started to break into and starting to do like cups and mugs and stuff. Do you want to mention in a little bit about that as well?

Speaker 5:

Yes. Um, funny story. I actually, I started making bowls after by many years and it actually didn't work out for me. Oh no, if people were waiting further, at least, and I'm just like, I can't master this technique. Then my husband actually gave me a cricket machine about two years ago and I have actually never used it just because I was scared of just not doing it right. So I got into it maybe about a month ago and I'm like, okay, this isn't too hard. I just have to master the dittos and I should be okay. And that's how I got into it. I started making samples just for myself and posting them up and then it just blew up. Everybody was just like, how much is the car? So I just expanded it and I'm putting my magic into it, putting my time by love and everything into the cups now.

Speaker 4:

Nice. So you could do, you do both then you'll continue to do both the ears and the cup scent.

Speaker 5:

Yes, absolutely.

Speaker 4:

And you aren't the first person we've had who said they started out with something else and then they ended up going a different direction. So you're not the first one that didn't, but that's great that you've been able to find that new niche

Speaker 3:

to go along with what you've, what you've already been doing. Nice. And so you know, just ramping up where can people find you online?

Speaker 5:

They can find me on Instagram or Facebook at the moment. My next step would be actually starting a website which should be coming up maybe in a few months.

Speaker 4:

Nice. And when you do get that up, we'll definitely send it to us and we'll make sure to share it again with our listeners. So if they're going back and listening to your episode or even, we'll just make sure to share that on our page as well so that way people can check it out.

Speaker 5:

Thank you. Thank you guys.

Speaker 3:

And then just again to remind our listeners, it's Jane's ear full creations. And if you please go on Instagram and you're going to see a lot of awesome designs that again span from Disney to Marvel to some

Speaker 4:

of your favorite characters. And I think they need thing is get a pair of ears because you're going to stand out with those big crowds for sure. Yeah, definitely. Well thank you so much Jane for joining us today on this episode. We'll make sure to share all of your information in our show notes and share some pictures about all your awesome products. We were really grateful to have you on this show today. Thank you guys so much. You guys saw my show. Most definitely. Thanks again.

Speaker 2:

We are so thankful to Jane for taking time to be with us on the show today. I will again share all of her information in our show notes. We are excited for you to be able to check out her awesome ears and see some of the new offerings she has for all of you. And of course we are going to end out our show with our two minute trivia and our wisdom from Walt quote. And so you are up Chris. So for this we had talked earlier about dual VIP and I scoured the deepest, darkest reaches of the internet to find a trivia question. Okay. On average according to the internet, how many dual whips are served per day?

Speaker 1:

Yeah,

Speaker 2:

at Disney world or all the Disney parks or in the world? In general. In the world in general. Cause I didn't really read that closely. Okay. Cause I was thinking like how we went to the adult plantation of why and all. They're overthinking this. Okay. At Disney we'll say 20,000 you need to guess again and you'd add some zeros.

200,000 times five 1 million duel with our serve today.$1 million a day. Correct. That seems crazy. Wow. Yeah. Are you the, you cannot argue with uterus. Wow. And that's what's so exciting. And I think Walt kind of started that. He was a catalyst that started all of that. And it's so neat to see how many other people are able to follow in his footsteps and do things, even if it's on a small scale, to be able to find their creative niche within their own, within their own area as well.
