Welcome, welcome, welcome to A happy week one edition of the Pond Pony podcast. Oh, yeah. It's me, the OG. And as always, we got the fantasy uncle. What's happened in Persian? Woo woo. Excited to be talking about some real football games. Week one was fun as hell. You know, I kind of knew that there would be a lot of surprises and You know, every, every year we think we know things and we don't know much of anything once the cards flipped over. But man, this one was especially shocking for some of these results, man. I was like, Ooh yes, but Hey, we love, we love news and surprises around here. We'll be rolling with the punches and following along everyone else. Right, right. So let's get into it. Let's start the show. All right. Well, so real quick, let's kick off the show with some college football talk over the weekend. We have some wild games. Notre Dame lost to Northern Illinois, even though the refs tried to give it away. I don't know if you saw this, but the running and the fourth quarter, NIU has the ball. It's like the third down a fourth down. I can't remember. They run the ball. I mean, they get the first down. The referee is spotting the ball a yard behind the line to gain. But the ball is like the dude with the ball is literally laying three yards ahead where he was tackled. Like, like, and so they had to spend a re like a, you know, they had to throw the flag, challenge it or whatever, and spend a review on it to, to give them the first down. Like that is pitiful. So that was hilarious. That Notre Dame still could not win despite the refs trying to give them the game. Clemson came out with their pants on fire. They set a record for the first quarter points, first half points, most yards in the first half. They were throwing bombs to the freshmen. I mean, it was, it was exactly what the Homer and me needed to see out of the Tigers. Like, Hey, oh, we can put up 60 something points on the teams that we should be able to do that. I saw so many takes after. The Georgia game, obviously that like former players, I guess, and alumni and just people that just really down, just down bad Deandre Hopkins and everybody turned in on it and. So this is what they needed. I understand it's app state. It's not Georgia, but still, but it's still to come out and just really, really put it on them. It's like, okay, that's what you need to see when you're playing. I mean, they're a team that's good. That's competing to win the Sunbelt. So yeah, they're not, they're not the worst. They're not like a total cupcake. They're, they're a team. They're not Furman or right. Right. They're a team. You know, it's, but it's like it's like, man, you need to come out and you needed to do this, you don't need to have any close apps, fake game or no bullshit, because people are already like on edge with it. And so it's nice to see. Hopefully we could see some steps in the right direction as the season goes on here. But yeah, it sucks that we have a bye week next week. So all the momentum you got to wait two weeks. Yeah. All right. And then Michigan is no longer Texas. Whoop that ass. They went in to Michigan and just beat the living shit out of them. 31 to 12. Michigan did not have a chance from the jump from, from the first, Michigan Play it was over. Yeah, so it looks like Harbaugh got out of there at the right time. Yeah, he knew he knew yo, hey, yo, this shit's about to come falling down. This thing is is collapsing. Yeah, I'm getting the fuck out. Not only do we not have the recruits, I'm getting the fuck out. Yeah. So that was funny. Another one that I thought was interesting was Oregon had issues with Boise State. They only won by a couple of points, two or three, 34 to 37. That was a little too close for Oregon. The number 17 Penn State bowling green took Penn State all the way to the fourth quarter. That was, that was a fun game to watch. Tennessee beat the living shit out of NC State. I mean, that was enthralling. That was, that was embarrassing. Has Tennessee lost yet this year? No, they are 2 0. They beat NC State 51 10. Yeah, I think, I want to say that they were one of the teams that we were talking about in the offseason when you were saying, I think you mentioned like, they have a chance to actually be something, to make some noise in the SEC this year, and so far, pretty good start. Also, pretty good start for Texas too. I know, I didn't see this, I didn't see this game this weekend but the previous weekend, I remember thinking, man, yours looks good and they look good. Like they look like they got it. I was like, I was like, man, losing both of your top wide receivers like that, you losing Jonathan Brooks, like maybe they're not going to be the same team, but man, they look sharp. Absolutely. Yeah. And it's going to be fun to see what happens down the stretch. Last couple of games that I thought were fun, Oklahoma state and Arkansas went to overtime, double overtime, double overtime. I love it. That was awesome. I love that. That was great. Oh yeah. College overtime is the best. And then, and then if they keep going, they have to go for two. So it just, just it's perfect. And then Iowa lost the Iowa state. Wow. And Iowa actually had offense this game. I mean, They put up some points, you know, they put up 19 points. That's that's that's, that's, that's, that's a lot for them. That's one shy of 20. Yes, yes. Last, last year, like 10 was like the high watermark. And is that right? Yeah, dude, it was bad. They have like one of the best defenses in the nation, but just could not score. Oh, all right. So let's get on to the NFL. Main topic. Week one. What a week one it was. So many good games. Fuckin wild. Fuckin wild. So let's start off with some, a little bit of the news. Tyreek Hill got arrested. I, for one, I just watched the video like 10 minutes before we got on to, to, to pod, to record and bro, those officers, like, I agree. Tyreek Hill was not being as cooperative as he could have been. Like, why are you knocking on my window? Like, bro, come on. You know what the officer's going to do. That's how they tell you to roll the window down. Well, I guess. I mean, maybe not, maybe not. So maybe he has a point. Sometimes they just tell you to do the motion. You know, they do the roll the window down motion with their fingers. But still nonetheless, he gave, he did, he gave the officers information and shit and rolled the window back up. And then the guy was like, Hey man, roll the window back down. And he's like, no. And then the guy's like, roll the window back down. And then the second officer came in and it was like Hey man, you need to roll the window back down or we'll fucking break that glass. I don't give a shit. And then he's like, no, we're not playing this today. And then that's when Tyreek Hill was opening the door. He was opening the door to get out and the officer grabbed him and just threw him out the car and like immediately threw him on the ground and Tyreek Hill's like, I'm getting out, man. Like what the hell, you know, not immediately threw about the ground, but like pick them up and like, he's like, man, I'm getting, I'm getting out. And they, they put them on the ground and arrested them, put the cuffs on them. And he's on the phone with Drew Rosa house. Or at least who I believe. Cause he's saying drew and his agent. Yeah. And then, so they sit him on the sidewalk and, or like stand him up and he's like, you need to sit down or whatever. And the guy's like, all right, man, my knee, watch my, I just had surgery. And the guy just like comes behind him and choke slams them down, man. It's just like, this is unnecessary. And then they go over to who Kalea's Campbell who pulls up and they're telling him he needs to leave. And Tyreek's like, yo, call Drew, call Drew. So he's on the phone with Drew and the officer's like, you need to give some ID. And the guy's like, no, he's telling me to leave. I'm leaving. And the guy's like, well, you're not talking to him anymore. You're dealing with me now. And you need to show me some fucking ID. And the guy's like, man, but the dude just told me, he's like, all right, man. What like, it's just, these cops were way out of line and you could tell they were looking for a fight. Yeah, at least two at least two of them. No, I'm, I'm so glad that Not that it ever happens, but i'm glad that it happened to a celebrity basically a sports star whatever so that You know people would actually pay attention to it more than they do. I mean you can You can well and it was good. It was good that he was Calm throughout the whole thing. And like, he didn't really cause a scene, but that one whole thing that started it all. And then afterwards he was like, you know, he didn't make it worse to where it was like, when you're watching this video, you're not thinking anything about what Tyreek Hill did. You're thinking all about, man, what the fuck this cop is an asshole. Yeah. The whole time. Yeah. Yeah. No, I mean, it's like, yeah. Cops do this all the time. Yeah. And unfortunately, most people don't have lawyers at the ready. They don't have agents. They don't have anybody who are like fans who are interested to see what's going on with them. But I mean, you could just watch, you know, YouTube video after YouTube video endlessly. Just fucked up shit right in your town. Could just Google police stop goose Creek or wherever you live and you, and it'll pull up tons of, of cops just misbehaving, you know what I mean? And anyway, so I'm just glad that they were actually, people were actually able to see like, Oh, I see. They're basically trying to make it illegal to be pissy with an officer and say, I don't want to roll my window down, right? Okay. You know, like, right. But yeah. So anyway, his celebration in the end zone was great. Him getting arrested. Oh yeah. Whoever came up with that idea. Great idea. So a couple of things that I noticed on week one, before we talk about a couple of specific games, Penalties, lots and lots of penalties, especially in the first two games, sloppy, sloppy, sloppy, which so that's week one for you. It's preseason still the dynamic kickoff, fucking sucks. The Packers kicked it one time and they, they got the guy down on like the 15 yard line. I'm like, Oh, this is great. We actually used it and it worked. And then after that, it was, everything was in the end zone, touchback, touchback, touchback. And I'm like, this is just dumb. We had one return. We did get one return for a touchdown. Yeah, out of all the games, what's funny is that most teams, from what I could tell, just weren't even trying to kick it in the, in the zone of return or whatever. And yet we still had one return for a touchdown. So you could see why they don't want to yeah. I think that it still needs to be tweaked. I think that that probably will happen next offseason. Goodell already said there won't, there will be no mid season tweaks. And I think that, I think that's fair. If that makes sense. I mean, you know what the tweaks should be? You want to fuck it? You really want to make it happen? Kick it in the end zone. They get the ball on your 25 yard line in the red zone. Oh, geez. Yeah. I could, I'll said that maybe it'll be, it'll be bumped out to the 30 or the 35. Oh, fuck that. Quit, quit bullshitting. Make it, you want them to kick the ball in the landing zone. If they kick it out of bounds or in the end zone, it goes out in that we get the ball on the red zone. Yeah, I think that they are I'll even make it even less I'll even make it even we get the ball in the red zone And it's third down. Yeah, I mean they I think they could literally just have it to where if it's kicked in a certain If it's kicked in a certain zone, you just have to attempt to return Yeah, you either have to read just you either have to attempt to return or you have to fair catch it You know what I'm saying? Like, I think that you should just make the whole landing zone, the end zone to, like, if they want, if they kick it out of bounds, it's that's when it's the penalty. Yeah. And so it's like you can't kick it out of bounds or, or, or if you kick it out of bounds, the penalty is just going to be so stiff that you wouldn't do it or whatever. All right. Well, first game I want to talk about first game that we saw Ravens versus Chiefs. Ravens O line look very suspect to me in that game. Oh, yeah. Lamar was basically running for his life, and I honestly could not tell if this was designed run plays or run for my life because I think the entire offense was Lamar first read isn't there, take off and run. Or run for your life or dump off to the running back. And he, I mean, he did have a few good plays Isaiah, like, and then Isaiah likely to me is right now tied in number one on that team. He was getting target after target. And then he was a toe, it was a toe away from tying or winning it. Yeah, yeah, absolutely. He, yeah, I agree with most of what you said. The only thing though, is I do expect Mark Andrews to be more productive than Isaiah likely most weeks, but Isaiah likely is not going away. What they were doing essentially was they were having, you know, Mark Andrews run more of the longer routes and the chiefs were just, they were just straight up choosing to roll coverage towards Andrews, meaning it was leaving space underneath for dump offs to I can't even remember the running back's name now. Not Derrick Henry, but the the other guy, he was getting a lot of dump and then Isaiah likely was catching it underneath. And then he's just really good after the catch and he was making plays. I, I will say that, you know, looking at the, the Justice Hill, Justice Hill, that's what I was saying. Thank you. There was just so much space underneath for Justice Hill and for Isaiah likely to catch and run. And but I, I do think that this is, A new thing that they're doing this year is like, they have traditionally run a pretty good amount of two tight end sets, but they would have one of them. Usually I say it likely just be a blocker, whereas they each ran 53 routes. That's a lot. That's a lot. So what that tells me is that. Like, this was in the game plan from the get go to have them both be receivers, not just have one of them blockers and alternate, or just have Isaiah likely be the all time blocker. They had Mark Andrews running more of the deep routes. And so some games he will hit on those big, on those big plays and he'll have long touchdowns and stuff like that. But I think both of them are going to be usable. I think they're both going to be good options. I think literally, I think literally both of them are probably better than what they've got. Wide receiver wise, Zay flowers, Is a great sort of after the catch guy, but not actually that great at running routes and getting open. Rashad Bateman was just kind of running a lot of wind sprints and that offensive line didn't give enough time for anything to develop that far down the field for the most part. And so it was kind of a wonky game, but the thing is I could see this sort of usage holding up all season because that offensive line really is suspect. So, What'd you think of the Chiefs? Chiefs out there? Chiefing? Yeah. The, the Xavier worthy. Yeah. Hey, he got it tody. Hey, they got, they had like a, a jet sweep to Xavier worthy. I was like, oh, this is cool. So they, they're basically saying, Hey, look man, we're gonna find ways to get him the ball. Hey, 19 fantasy points. I was loving that. Yeah. Your very first game. You gotta love it, man. You gotta love it. Absolutely. I, I was basically like arrow up for Rashid Rice. It's, I was thinking with other target competition being added to that team, maybe he wouldn't see that much usage. He saw a ton of usage. Yeah. I mean, they, they love just, just getting him on these in, in breakers, out breakers, just underneath stuff and just letting him, he's very good after the catch. He can, he can do people and he's also pretty strong at the tackle, you know, point if you will. He's, you know, arrow up for Rasheed Rice, I think. Yeah, it was a great game. Great game between two heavyweights. Hopefully we'll see it again. Yeah. Speaking of another great game, even though it was pretty sloppy Packers Eagles, that was a fun game to watch. Jordan Love looked, looked pretty good. I mean, he had some late passes, had some misses, had some drops, but I mean, he looks good throwing the ball, making the right, he was throwing it to the right people. At the right time, I mean, when we needed to drive, we were driving. It was a great game, sloppy game with the field conditions. Everybody was slipping. And this is where I'm just like, man, I don't mind international games, but let's play on football fields. Soccer fields are not meant to be played by 200, 300 pound linemen and guys pushing with their cleats. Like the people who like the, the athletes who play on those fields are, are not the same. Like they're just not the same. And so those fields aren't meant to take that amount of beating in the same spot over and over and over, over the course of a football game. So I think that's pretty shitty on the NFL. They should really look into that. Otherwise the injury is concerning, but I'm hearing three to four weeks could be sooner. So I think if the Packers can, you know, I think if they can win the neck, win of one of the next two games, whether it be the Colts or the Titans, then we could potentially see Jordan Love even go another week on the bench just to be safe. But if we lose those two games, then he'll probably come back week against the next team week for right? Because they're going to, they're going to feel like the seasons on the line at that point. Yeah. And I mean, the, the bummer is, is this game was a continuation of last year. We had the game. If we, we intercepted, turned the ball over two times in the red zone and we didn't, we didn't put them away. We didn't shooting yourself in the foot sort of penalties, penalties in that game. I, but the other thing is the Eagles didn't look that good either. Jalen hurts was making mistakes all over the place. Yeah. I like Saquon Barkley was the best thing on that team. He was, he was awesome. And he made the giants look stupid. This dude, the giants GM is fired. He's done. He's done. The owner on hard knocks said over and over and over again, he wants Saquon Barkley to be a cornerstone of this franchise. And the dude was adamant that they did not need him. Yeah. First game, first game, three touchdowns, one catching nasty. Yeah. Most of this game actually wasn't able to watch. I saw like the end of it pretty much. But I will say that I, I saw a lot of praise for Kellen Moore. A lot of people were saying, Oh, he really did scheme up a lot of open dudes and the offense. Is much more imaginative, basically the, a lot of different formations and movement and stuff like that, basically the opposite from the sort of stock stagnant sort of thing they were dealing with last year. But yet. himself didn't play so well. I saw his PFF grid was the lowest he's has ever had. So, so the fact that the fact that they were able to put up points, despite him playing poorly is I think a pretty good sign for guys like A. J. Brown, Devonta Smith. Probably even Dallas Goddard and of course Saquon Barkley because I mean if they're going to be moving the ball And he's going to get this sort of work share. I think he had an 88 percent snap share. That's huge Yeah, that is a bow cow. That is a workhorse bow cow type role right there. So I think probably arrow up for all of these guys if Callum Moore is indeed going to keep defenses on their heels Absolutely. Hopefully we don't see any more duds from Hertz, but I also, after being tush pushed, I hate, I hate it. I fucking hate it, God, I hate it. Like dude, third and one, tush push. We didn't get it. Fourth and one tush push. We got it. Yeah. I was like, fuck you. I fucking hate it. Yeah, man. I did it once. It is just so annoying. I had this same experience. I went to Dudley's one night and I was like, man, my God. I tried the tush push. Exactly. Once. I'm just going back to the the ladies man, get this guy outta here. I'm over it already. Oh, okay. Well, moving on from the tush. Quarterback battle, C. J. Stroud versus Anthony Richardson. Man, this was, this was a game. Joe Mixon had a hell of a game, and he's gonna be nasty in Houston. He's gonna be better in Houston than he was in Cincinnati. Stephon Diggs got his, got his, no need to complain Stephon, you got yours. And then Anthony Richardson is just launching balls. I mean, the guy's a stud. The guy's a stud. My guy is an elite QB. He should have been drafted by the Panthers. And they are so mad at him. You did notice the inaccuracies though, right? Like, he's gotta clean up some of those whips. Yeah, I mean, look, he's young. I mean, what, what, what first year quarterback, and let's just go ahead and say this is his second year, but it's really his first full season, like his first season. Sure. I'm not saying, I'm not saying I'm out on him. I'm just saying like, we should be honest. There was some bad in there too. It was both sides of the coin with him. Absolutely. But the plays that he did make are you're like, Oh, okay. Oh yeah. I mean, if we can be more consistent. As a passer, man, the ceiling is sky high. I mean, he could break, not just, not just fantasy football. Fuck us. Fuck the game. We play. He could break the actual NFL if he actually, he is so hard to tackle. He's elusive. He can throw the damn thing 60 yards down field. I mean, the sort of plays that he can make. As a passer, as a runner, I mean, he is a nightmare to deal with if he actually does become more consistent. If he could, if he could clean things up, you know, for the longest time, people thought, man, quarterbacks can't even become more accurate. But over the past five to 10 years, we've seen several. Big time examples, Lamar Jackson Josh Allen, Jalen hurts. A lot of these guys were there like, Oh, they're just athletes. They can't pass it. Well, actually they got better as accurate past. And interesting to know Anthony Richardson's QBR. Was better than CJ Stroud. Yeah. CJ Stroud actually had the worst game of his short career so far. Yeah. And his, well, his, Anthony Richardson's rating was one Oh one CJ Stroud's was one 15, but he also threw the ball 32 on a lot of the downfield stuff. Like CJ Stroud actually got bailed out. Like he was misplacing the ball and Nico Collins was just a beast and he was just. Coming back to the ball and catching it. No matter what. I was, I was literally like, wow, Nico Collins is that fucking dude, dude. Every single year he's gotten better. And I thought maybe last year would be something like his peak, but man, he is a dog, bro. The actual catches he made. I was like, Texans are going to be serious in the AFC this year, man. I'm telling you they're gonna they can make a deep run in the play. Yeah And I mean you see the difference that like the neil hunters the second year for will anderson. I mean All of a sudden they got pieces. You know what I mean? Derek stingley jr. Looked really good Colts will be there too colts will be in the mix man. That's gonna be a good fun division to watch with this Yeah, I think that texans should absolutely be the favorites right now in that division, but absolutely Well, let's, let's talk about a couple of games within the realm of rookie quarterbacks. Let's start off with bone, which by the way, all of them did not have good games. They were all somewhere in the realm of bad. Yeah. How bad it depends. The rookies were especially bad, but just like a quick note here is that the quarterback in the passing games in general were pretty bad. In general, we actually had the, the lowest average passing yardage of any single week since 2001. And that was also the first week of 2001. And I just think that this has a lot to do. My personal opinion is that this has a lot to do with the way that coaches are shying away from putting their quarterbacks out there in the preseason. And a lot of these guys are coming for us in games. And this is And less preseason. This is like the third Season in a row that we've seen Joe burrow come out and be very flat to start this season, you know Yeah, and it's not just him. But yeah, I agree with you the rookies in particular Really bad showings all three of them. Go ahead and complete your thought there. Yeah. Well, I was gonna start off with bo nicks so this to me is more of a Coaching problem. Why are you having your rookie throw the ball? 42 times in a game Like that's just too many times. So he threw two interceptions with a QBR of 31 and a rating of 47 and a half. That is, that's bad. That's very, very bad. And yet, and yet Denver was still in the game. They only lost by six to Seattle. Gino Smith was not having a great game either. I mean, he had a better game, but his best play was that touchdown run. He chipped the shit out of somebody. I didn't even get to catch who that was, man. He put it on him and, and fucking dove in for that touchdown. I was like, wow, he looks fast. But yeah, so Bo Nix, I mean, we got, we got some work to do, you know, it's not preseason anymore. So when you talk about passes that traveled more than 10 yards down the field, he was two of 12 with three turnover worthy plays. Now, two of them were actually intercepted, but he had a third that should have been, and it's just like, bro, what are you doing? The crazy thing is this is the one thing. That he was really elite at, at the college level. Yeah, cause he's old. I mean, he, he has not had a game with three turnover worthy plays in the same game since all the way back to 2021. I think it is as Auburn Tigers. I mean, It's just everything that everything you thought you wouldn't have to worry about with him Showed up as a pro and this reminds me of what happened last year with bryce young where it's just like wait a minute These are the very things he was good at you know what I mean? So it's like yeah, it's like man I don't know what to think about it. It's certainly not a good sign. But of course there's been Tons of, of excellent quarterbacks that have flopped in their first game, if not their first season. So, you know, I'm not giving up on any of these quarterbacks just yet, but of course it's not a good sign that, that he looks that bad. Yeah. Right. Absolutely. Especially against Seattle who, you know, is, is good, but they're not like, you know, they're not dominant. From him, I'm looking at Caleb Williams, 23 and a half QBR 55 rating. Oh, just a stinker. 14 for 29, 93 yards. I mean, he didn't turn the ball over, so I, you know, can't be mad about that, but no receiver got more than 36 yards. No one rushed for more than 30 yards. I mean, the entire Bears team, I don't know how they won this game. Like I just don't, their defense played stellar. You know, I think they had a pick six or something. Yeah. Yep. Pick six, two interceptions. So that's how they won the game and kick and field goals. Yeah, it's actually like, it's like, what do you think of his play? It's actually the first time in NFL history that a team has won while having less than, I think it was 130 total yards of offense. Yeah, that's, that's crazy. Even with all the Steelers last year. Even with all the Steelers woes last year on offense, this still takes the game. Yeah. Yeah. You know, it looked to me like this had more to do with kind of being out of sync. With his receivers like they really need to do whatever needs to be done to all be on the same page And I don't know if the the problems are coming from his end or if it's coming from The receiver's end or what? I don't know what's going on there But it's like he's expecting them to do other things than what they're doing often, which is not good That's not a good thing. But i'm actually less worried about his sort of You Like issues because he just kind of seemed confused like he didn't quite understand What the defenses were doing and maybe even his own receivers Whereas with like jayden daniels and bo nicks it looked more like some pretty Bad decisions and really awful throws that were actually happening listen Listen, jayden daniels is a fantasy god. Okay Hey, I told you that motherfucker can run now. You saw how good he was as a runner, right? Bro, I got him on one of my squads and I was like, Oh, 34 points. Hell yeah. Hell yeah. I told you, man, my man is going to run. He's going to run. So, well, that's a good segue right into Jaden Daniels. They did not get the win. The commander's loss, but Jaden Daniels. Also QBR 41, bad 93, rating 17 for twenty four, a hundred eighty four yards, no passing touchdowns, two rushing touchdowns for 16 carries and 88 yards. Did not have a single receiver with more than 20 yards. Well, he, yeah, he had two running backs with more than 20 yards, though. Well, yeah, no wideouts, though. I mean, it's just like Yeah, that's what I know. It's funny. The, the thing that I did Yeah, your boy Luke McCaffrey, 18. Yeah, Luke McCaffrey actually got more work than I thought he would right out of the gate. I might have to I might have to take the L on Luke McCaffrey. I was, I saw him more as a long term play did not think he would get on the field that much, but he actually, I want to say he had like a 70 something snapshot, which is pretty good. At any rate as far as Jane Daniels goes, I did not like how quickly he just gave up on plays. It basically was the very first read. That's the only read I have. And if it's not there. And it's not there quick, then I'm just taking off. I'm just running. And he's going to have to get through progressions. You know, if he's going to be an NFL quarterback, he's going to have to do that. There was times when he was just like, Oh, you're not open immediately. I'm out. I'm giving up on it. So. Not a good sign. I loved what I saw from him as a runner. I was expecting that and to see it was still kind of impressive. But you know, I could, I could easily see this ending up in a Justin Fields situation if he cannot improve as you know getting through his progressions, you know, so. Well, I, well, I am glad you brought Justin Fields up because that's exactly what I was going to talk about next. He's going to be a starter for week two. The Steelers out of all of the teams in the AFC North are one and O and they are on top of the division. One of Justin Fields did not have a great game. 42 QBR 91. 9 rating 1723, 156 yards. But boy, if you had Boswell on your team. Oh my God. You wow. Field goals. This is the second time in modern history that I've seen Boswell single handedly. Win a game for the Steelers. Last time it was five. If you got him on your fantasy team, I think he had like 27 points, like a ridiculous amount of points. The best part about this game is, so I'm listening to NFL game day final with Steve Smith and he is just shitting on the Steelers. He is just like if you think Russell Wilson is gonna knock the rust off and throw a 300 yard game You have lost your damn mind like this team is not good Like the quarterbacks are awful like he was like, oh my oh my gosh, yeah Other and speaking of that division the Browns got that ass beat. Dashaun Watson just looks terrible. Dashaun has another allegation, has another allegation. Facing another lawsuit about being a perv. I haven't even read the details of it, but I, I heard that they are like very Yeah, he did the naked man scene where he got naked and she came walking in and he's like massage my butt and then massage my groin and then he forcibly put it in her and Yeah, and then got up and left. It was weird. It's gross. I just I'm done. I'm over it. Yeah So bangles and some Browns fans check on your Browns fans people. They're they're having a rough time. Hey look Whether it's just poor play on the field or it's that his shoulder slash arm is actually injured whatever the deal you might want to try to scoop up jameson james winston put him on your bench If you've got a bench spot Available or or better if you're the browns front office buy a couple of masseuse Hook your boy up so he can get back mojo back Get back his mojo. Yeah. You know, it's like Tiger Woods and the Waffle House girls. And once he got rid of the Waffle House girls, he sucks. Yeah. It turns out they were the secret ingredient. Yeah, they were, they were the secret ingredient. And the last couple of things I want to talk about quick hits. The Broncos had two safeties. They almost had a third. I was watching. That's crazy. They, they narrowly, narrowly escaped from having a third safety. I was like, wow, this is wild. I can't, I've never seen this shit, man. Never seen it. Never seen it. Yeah. I mean, the defense was fine. You know, our, Our front, our defensive front, I guess you would say was nothing special, but man, our, our coverage guys, our safeties and our quarterbacks were playing really well, making some big plays. I mean, just blanketing their dudes. It really wasn't our defense. It's just they had consistently. All these, these, these good field position and of course a couple of picks and it was just like we basically forced them to score touchdowns on us because our offense was so bad. It was just so ugly. But the defense was actually all right. One thing that I'm loving because Dan Campbell tells the truth. He's a truther. He was loving Williams after the game. They asked him about Williams and his planned playing time. And he's like, look, man, if the guy's going out there and doing what he did in this game. We're going to feed him the ball. I love, I love the guy. He's killing it. So I'm so glad I drafted him because Dan Campbell is going to give him the time to, to make money. And I think we get to toot our own horn here too, because we were saying, look, Dan Campbell, we talked about this with, with two, three weeks ago, we're like, Dan Campbell is one of the honest coaches. And he said, our most improved player is by far Jamison Williams. Yeah, we're planning on using him. He's going to be part of our, our attack. And I mean, he's a guy who, if he does get a lot of targets, man, he's explosive. He's got jets, man. He can make big plays. And so unfortunately for the other guys, I think you're in a situation where you start to get too many mouths to feed. And so I do think this will hurt. I'm on raw and we'll hurt Sam LaPorta, but look, Jamison Williams is fine. I don't have any Jamison Williams is going to be Jared Jamison Williams is going to be a thing. We all need to just accept that. You know what I mean? And then the last thing, the other great thing over the weekend other than Derek Mayo getting his first dub. Lad McConkey got a touchdown in Harbaugh one, the chargers one, but Lad McConkey got a touchdown. Yeah, to go ahead and toot that horn too. Lad McConkey looked good, man. He, he did not get a full allotment of snaps. He was only in there at three wide receiver sets, which I was afraid of was going to be the case. But I mean, he clearly to me looked like their best receiver. I think it's just a matter of time before he's in all of the sets, no matter how, you know, two receiver sets, whatever. And I mean, he, he was getting targeted very often when he was out there. And I mean, you gotta love that kind of efficiency. And since we're on this game also, JK Dobbins. Damn. Yeah. Welcome back. JK Toppins. I had 1 35. I had basically given up on the guy. I mean, check out this, that, okay. He was number one. In week one for EPA per carry number one EPA per carry Gus edwards actually had more carries than he had he was the fourth worst That's not going to happen. That's not going to happen for very long Obviously harbor is going to be like, okay One guy is better than the other here and that's going to become jk. Dobbins backfield sooner rather than later I love it for the guy. He's, he's dealt with so many injuries to the point where I basically was like, even if he does come back, he's not going to be that good. He's not going to be the same guy. And look, he, there was two plays where he got chased down from behind in a way where you, he probably would not have. Couple two, three years ago. But that being said, he still was clearly the best one. And that offensive line was sick. That offensive line was opening holes for them. Like nobody's business. Gus looks maybe the chargers are going to be better than we thought they were. We'll see. We'll see over week one. Hey, definitely. That's what I was going to say. I was like, like, I'm drinking the Kool Aid right now based on week run week against what could be an overrated. Raiders defense. You know what I'm saying? But that offensive line did look the part. They were supposed to be good. Joe, all it's supposed to be the dude. He looked really good. And, and particularly in the run game, they were open up big holes. Dobbins look fast getting to the hole. Gus Edwards looks slow. It's going to be his back. Absolutely. Absolutely. Well, that was a fun week. One can't wait for week two. So that's it. That's all we got for the show. We'll catch you next week or later on this week for a week to preview. As always, you can catch us at pine pony podcast, 22 at gmail. com or on threads and Instagram at pine pony podcasts.
