James McComas is General Manager at Champneys Eastwell Manor Hotel and Spa in Kent, UK. James   started his career in Hospitality at the age of 15 following work experience at a local Best Western. He fell in love with the comradery of being part of a team and decided to try and make a career of it. He studied International Hospitality and Tourism Management at the University of Surrey and was lucky enough to spend a year living and working in Colorado, USA at a mountainside 5-star resort, before being recruited by Accor and moving to New Zealand on graduation. 

He spent 5 years in supervisory and junior management roles before returning to the UK and discovering Country House hotels at Eynsham Hall. He spent 7 years with Malmaison and Hotel du Vin and in June 2020 moved over to Ashford to take over Champneys Eastwell Manor, leading the property and team out of the pandemic, and establishing their vision for the future.

He considers himself lucky to be married to a very understanding wife, and together, they have two children, Noah and Ivy-Mae.
