Chapter 7:

When the villagers try to capture the black wolf, thinking to protect Taran, she and Bard decide it is time to leave, and go to other kingdoms to find a cure for his curse. Maddix blames all his problems on the residue of magic from Princess Arden's apple tree, and is determined to find an enchanter strong enough to cleanse Stonemount. A fugitive couple with magic come to Maddix, seeking shelter, and agree to cleanse his garden of magic from the tree.
