Sick and Seeking
Sick and Seeking is hosted by Leslie Field who, after a diagnosis in her late teens of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), has been on a 22-year journey of healing and self-discovery.
In this podcast, Leslie invites you to join her for intimate, honest and heartfelt conversations with others who are also on their own healing journeys as they live with and manage the long-term effects of “dis-ease” in the body.
Listen to the stories of courageous people who, in the face of an uncertain medical future, are on a quest to go deeper into their bodies, beyond symptom and diagnosis—or in some cases no diagnosis—to reach a place of intuitive knowing, healing and transformation.
This podcast is, above all, an exploration in healing and examines a variety of modalities and knowledge from conventional medicine to holistic and complementary therapies that bring a spiritual, psychological and mystical perspective to bodily healing in our modern culture.

Ep. 4 | The Body Holds Many Messages For Us – Lizzie Redman on Living with Chronic Pain
In this episode I speak with Lizzie Redman, strategist and leadership coach. Four years ago after a beautiful NYC evening of oysters and champagne, Lizzie developed mysterious symptoms in her body. Still without an official medical diagnosis, Lizzie shares the powerful lessons and information she has collected over the many years of managing chronic pain in her body.
In this episode we speak about:
- How we are all going to undergo change in our bodies, and it can be deeply challenging but also bring gifts.
- When asking a person managing chronic illness or pain how they are feeling in their bodies this can be a heavy question, and it may be difficult for them to share.
- Fatigue and not honoring the need for rest and sleep.
- Dance and organic movement as a way to feel good, connect back to one's body, and feel joy.
- How when you hear someone share a journey that is similar to your own, it can bring up thoughts, sensations and emotions connected to what you’ve been through.
- The connection between our brain and what shows up in our bodies
- The suspicion that what is happening in Lizzie’s body may be related to her nervous system being in overdrive.
- The time and emotional labor to manage an illness.
- The potential pitfall of putting excess pressure on yourself and showing up with an intensity connected to your medical condition and desired outcome.
- The expectation many people hold that our body needs to function perfectly and is our tool to use.
- The healing process is deeply personal, and your relationship with yourself and your body on this journey is up to you.
- How our body reacts to emotion, and the importance of checking in with one’s body and being mindful of physical sensations.
- How our bodies hold many messages for us, and there are tools and practices that can help tap into them.
- The Curable App and Somatic Therapy.
- How an invisible illness can feel isolating.
