Speaker 2:

Hello and welcome to day 11 in our series, the 12 Days of Christmas. I am your host, terry Cullums, and I am excited about our topic today. We've been talking about them a little every day throughout this series and today we're going to dive in and talk about how to go about them. Love them or hate them, we usually all set goals. It may be required for your job, or you may just love the idea of growth through setting goals. Today, we're shaking things up a bit and we're going to put a fresh spin on goal setting.

Speaker 2:

I started out with the idea of producing an episode 12 days in a row. I was so enamored with the idea of doing something a little innovative and different with the whole concept. I didn't really consider all of the impacts and challenges that producing a daily show would bring, but this is truly the essence of goal setting. We not only future predict something we want in our lives, but we have to break it down into actionable steps to help get us there. We also need some level of accountability, at the very minimum to ourselves, and we all have to have something to tell us how we're progressing. Finally, we do have to ask ourselves is what we want relative to our values. I have this memory floating around in my head as I was preparing for today. It was a time in my career where I was working with another sales manager and she and I would dream up these elaborate sales competitions to make the workplace fun and to engage and motivate our sales teams. The ideas would be so big and complicated and when we would try to implement them, we realized we would need to scale down our ideas a little bit to make them successful. So don't be afraid to have a big, audacious goal, but also don't feel as if you have failed if you have to adjust a goal as you go through the steps to try to implement it. We all know about SMART goals, but how about we give it a fun and engaging twist? Are you ready for SMART 2.0? Okay, here we go. By the way, I will put these in our Facebook group, so don't worry if you don't have a pen to write them down right now.

Speaker 2:

So for S, we're going to make it sparkling vision Instead of specific. Let's kick off our goals with sparkling vision. Set a goal that is not just specific, but one that lights up your imagination. Imagine your goal like a dazzling gem of sparkling inspiration and excitement. Don't be afraid to daydream and create a vision for it. Okay, for M, we're going to do magnetic motivation. Swap out measurable for magnetic motivation. Make your goal irresistibly attractive. Ask yourself what's the magnetic force pulling you towards this goal. Find that inner drive that makes you leap out of bed in the morning ready to tackle the day.

Speaker 2:

For A, we're going to do an adaptive action plan. Let's forget attainable and embrace an adaptive action plan. Instead of focusing on attainability, let's think about adaptability. Life is dynamic and so should be your approach. Be ready to adapt your plan as you go, keeping it flexible and responsive to changes.

Speaker 2:

For R, we're going to do Resonant Rewards. Rewards transform relevant into Resonant Rewards. Make sure your goal isn't just relative to your life, but resonates deeply with your values and your passions. Remember to consider rewards along the way, not just the outcome, but the journey itself. Also, remember to ask yourself what resonates with my soul. For T, we're going to do Timeless Tracking Instead of time bound. Aim for timeless tracking Instead of stressing over a deadline. Focus on the timeless aspect of progress. Keep track of your achievements and celebrate the small victories and milestones along the way. Timeless tracking is more about the journey, not just the destination. Okay, so there you have it Taking vision, magnetic motivation, adaptive action plan, resonant Rewards and Timeless Tracking. This is the revamped Smart 2.0 approach to setting goals that stick. Remember, it's not just about achieving the goal, but enjoying the journey and becoming the best version of yourself along the way.

Speaker 2:

I will end today with a meaning of 11 Piper's Piping. The 11 Piper's Piping can be associated with harmony and creativity. I encourage you today to reflect on the importance of finding balance and expressing creativity in both personal and professional pursuits. Until next time, remember to keep reaching for those sparkling visions. I look forward to being with you tomorrow for our final day in the series, the 12 Days of Christmas. Bye-bye, amanda. I don't know if this ever happens to you, but I sometimes will learn. I learn something really cool on a podcast, on a YouTube, video, audiobook, whatever. I think I'm going to remember it and then I forget. Does that ever happen to you?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I call it brain after 40 all the time.

Speaker 2:
