Have you come to the point in your life where doing that work, church, home repeat just isn't working for you anymore, and you know there's gotta be more to life than this, then girl, you've come to the right place. I'm Kimberly Knight, and this is the Position Podcast. As a certified coach, consultant, author, and speaker, I've had the privilege of helping women to position themselves for success in life, love, and business. So if you're ready for some wisdom wrapped up in a little bit of girlfriend, join me and other experts each week as we give you the conversation, coaching, and keys you need to take you to your next steps. Hello and welcome to the Position Podcast. I am your host, Kimberly Knight, and today we are going to be talking about signs that it is time for a shift. So there's some times that you know you come into a new season of your life, but we don't always readily recognize it, nor do we lean into it. So let's talk about some of the things that might identify that it's time for you to shift. Here's one: you built a house where God said pitch a tent. In other words, there was some aspect of your life that was supposed to be temporary, but you made it permanent. Now, that could be a relationship, it could be a thing, it could be a job, it could be a ministry, it could be a person, right? But whatever it was, you took something that was supposed to be temporary and you made it permanent. It's definitely time for a shift. Number two, God is doing a new thing and He needs you to serve others. Your shift may actually be the answer to someone else's prayers. So sometimes God will call you into a shift in order to get you moving in an area where you've been a little slow. So that leads me into the next one. Number three there is a call on your life that must be fulfilled. I do believe everyone is put here with a purpose and for a reason, right? And sometimes it's multiple things or it's to multiple groups in different times and in different seasons of your life. But that call has got to be fulfilled. And it may be something special that God doesn't want you to miss, and he doesn't want the people group that you're called to to miss either. Because everything he asks us to do is always about people. God is in the people business, he's in the soul-saving business, he's in the taking care of his people business. That's what God does, right? And what you're called to do answers someone else's need. He doesn't want them to miss it, and he doesn't want you to miss it either. Here's another reason it might be time for a shift. Number four, where you're headed is detrimental. So the path you're on is dangerous, you're going the wrong way. He's telling you the bridge is out, and God, in all of his mercy, is calling you to head in a different direction about face forward march. He is telling you that bridge is out. Do not try to cross the bridge. Now, if you know that you are either living in sin or you are like Jonah and you are running away from the things that God has called you to do, please turn back. Make the shift, lean into the shift that He's called you to. Don't be like Jonah. This one is kind of connected to it, but it doesn't have the same connotation, right? So, number five, somewhere along the line, you've made a wrong turn and you need a course correction. So it's like Divine GPS. God reroutes you as he needs you. It may be you, it may be just something else has shifted or changed in your locus of control or in your area of influence, and he needs to reroute you. Now, that may mean you need to travel a different road or take a different route to your destination, and you will get there. If God has given his divine GPS new coordinates, he's also guaranteed your arrival. Hallelujah for that. All right. The sixth sign that you may need to make a shift is that you've received deeper revelations that must be incorporated into your life, into your calling, or your destiny. So now you've received this deeper understanding. And when we know better, we do better. And actually, the Bible says that when we know better and don't do better, it is sent to us. So now as you begin to get a deeper understanding of his word, his will, and his way for your life, you have to incorporate that into your being. And that is the perfect time to make a God-ordained shift. Here's number seven. You might need to make a shift if there's a God-sized dream that can't be realized without new relationships, resources, or revelation. So anytime you start to see shifts in relationships, or you start to see new relationships out of the blue, just you weren't looking for them that came out of the blue. And I'll give you an example. My best friend I met on a bus. She was sitting there with her children and her husband, and God told me to introduce myself to her. Now, that would be odd for other people, maybe, but that is not the first time he has told me to do that. And it wasn't the last. She brought a huge shift into my life. And actually, she was there for me during some of the roughest periods. I had no idea what I would be going through just one year later, and she would walk me through one of the toughest periods of my life. Here's another sign that you might want to make a shift. Number seven, you have a God-sized dream and it can't be realized without new relationships, resources, or revelations. So whenever you get a God-sized dream, there is no way you can accomplish it on your own. You are going to need help. You are going to need new people, places, and things. And when you bring those things into your life, or God brings those things into your life even better, they are needed to make your big God-sized dream a reality. Number eight, here's another way that you know it's time for a shift. You feel inexplicably restless. You know something needs to change or something is different, but you can't put your finger on it. It may be time for a shift that may actually be signaling you that it's time to do something new. Number nine, and this is a biggie. If you've had a major life change, birth, death, a move, marriage, job, a new engagement, it's time to make a shift. Most people just keep moving along and they don't consider that things have changed and they need to adjust to that change. This is a great time to revisit your priority protocol, and I will put a link to that resource for you in the notes. Number 10, your self-care needs become different. All of a sudden, especially if you've made these major shifts, your present self-care doesn't cut it anymore. I mean, you go and get your nails done and you're like, yo, okay, they've got pretty polished, but I don't feel restored, I don't feel renewed, I don't feel refreshed. Or maybe you're accustomed to binging television programs and now it just doesn't do it for you. Please reconsider your self-care plan and make sure that it's replenishing your spirit, your soul, and your body. Here's another time you may consider a shift. All of a sudden, your needs for support become greater. You need to learn to delegate. You might need to get a coach or an assistant, it is time to make a shift. Whenever your needs for support become greater, that means that something major has gone on in your life or the demands on your time, energy, and talent have changed and you need to shift with it. Last but not least, this is a big one. If you are no longer able to tolerate conversations that are immature, inconsequential, or stuck in negative, then you probably need to consider a shift because that is indicative that you are choosing to invest your time and energy into higher level priorities. And you can't do that having low-level conversations. This is a huge, sure indicator that it's time to consider a shift.
