The Eating Disorder Diaries

Entry 5: How therapy and EMDR has helped me heal my eating disorder (Part 2)

Season 1 Episode 5

In the fifth entry of The Eating Disorder Diaries, Amy discusses her experiences with nearly 2 decades of therapy and how that has helped her heal from her eating disorder.  She talks about the cost of therapy, the frustration at not being able to find a therapist, and talks about some of the things she really has not jived with in sessions (like a therapist calling her manic or telling her that her PMS was just no big deal).

In the second half of the first segment, Amy drills into EMDR and what that's looked like for her in sessions. She talks about the 8 phases of EMDR and applies personal experiences to each phase in her own personal sessions and discusses how processing her trauma and sexual assault has helped her heal her ED.
