Welcome back to the show. I'm so honored that you've been listening to our recap this week of the Eureka County Sheriff's Department Leadership Conference up in Nevada. It was a phenomenal week and I'm so appreciative of so many people that I met and fellowshiped with during that time that I met and fellowshiped with during that time and I'm hoping that you've listened to sort of the recaps we did this week. Each day of the week. We sort of broke down each day so if you weren't there, you got some semblance of what we got to experience. Of course, you never can portray that in audio format like you could be in there, but I certainly hope it helped you and encouraged you and maybe you will consider in joining us there in 2025 and beyond.

But the day four recap is what this podcast is about and I taught day four and so it didn't make a lot of sense for me to do the recap and I'm so grateful for my friend John Kelly and Roland Klee, who got back to Florida and recorded this recap and sent this over for you. These guys, if you don't know them, you need to get to know them. We've interviewed them both on the podcast. Of course, john Kelly and both Roland have their own websites and they do training and consulting and it's just incredible stuff, folks. I mean it's such a stuff, folks. I mean it's such a blessing to get to know men like this that are making such a huge impact. And they, of course, blessed me by sending this over. They were very kind, they didn't have to be, but I'm certainly appreciative of them and I'm appreciative of you for listening.

John Kelly:
Hey folks, john Kelly here with Roland Clee helping out our dear friend Travis Yates on a summary of our 2024 Eureka Leadership Summit. Hey man, nice that we're back home, right, it was a hell of a trip getting out there. It was amazing yeah, it was an amazing trip. And, Roland, your thoughts on the guy who I guess he batted cleanup right On the fourth day, Mr Travis Yates?
Roland Clee:
Yeah, he displayed greatness, I'd say he just really gave everything, left everything on the field. It was a wonderful presentation about leadership and you know it was what the conference was all about. It's like everything built up to what he eventually said. And you and I are no stranger to him. Both of us have been through his book, Both of us have seen him on video, seen him speak in person before. But this time was really something special, Don't you agree?
John Kelly:
I like the way he tied everything in. You know, sometimes you have somebody batting cleanup and they don't do a good job of really summarizing the event, and I thought that there were portions of his presentation that highlighted that Randy Sutton and Bob Bemis, that highlighted Tom Rizzo and myself and Wayne Ivey and he put his, really his classic touch on leadership and really what that means to the individual and how that translates to the organization. I just I thought it was well done. How that translates to the organization. Um, I just I thought it was well done. And, um, I do take issue with his assessment that I do not have any survival skills out there in the wilderness.
Roland Clee:
Uh, I defended you. I don't know, you didn't defend me too loudly, my friend.
John Kelly:
I'll just say this I uh uh naked and afraid I I.
Roland Clee:
I could probably last about five minutes, uh, but with that being said, man, special thanks right to Jesse Watts and Tyler Tyler Thomas and Jesse Watts.
John Kelly:
What an amazing job that they and their staff right. We got to spend time with their staff on a daily basis. Man, what a great group of men and women out there, out there in God's country, doing some amazing things.
Roland Clee:
I'll leave you for the final word, my friend.
Roland Clee:
Yeah, I never saw firsthand about bringing law enforcement to such a large area with such a small staff and these guys. They were enforcing an area the size of the state of Connecticut with about 14 deputies and doing that in shift. So it really opened my eyes to it, just gave me new thoughts about our concepts of policing. But as far as leadership, you have to have different kind of leadership in that setting. So, getting to see folks from, we had some folks from Churchill County, some folks from Elko and all of these places very sparsely populated, but they still have. They still have crime. They still have officer-involved shootings. They still have crime. They still have officer-involved shootings. They still have unattended deaths. They still have traffic accidents. They have some very spectacular traffic accidents in certain cases and they have fields of policing that we've never had to consider in the state of Florida. So I just tip my hat to all those professionals that are out there doing the job in those areas.
John Kelly:
Next time you hear, do more with less. Think about those folks out there that are doing 10 times more than we ever thought with a staff of 25, right and the public loves them.
Roland Clee:
They really stand up and say, hey, we're going to be there for the public, and the public's reciprocated that their trust in them.
John Kelly:
It was a wonderful trip. I would say for the listener keep your eyes open for 2025. The Eureka County Sheriff's Office Leadership Summit under the leadership of Jesse Watts and Tyler Thomas two good eggs, man and Roland.
