Episode 51: Guest Sara McCunnie - The Use Of Color And Patterns In Dementia Design.
We have mentioned many times on our podcasts how contrasting colors may help people with dementia because of their vision being affected by these devastating brain diseases. Just one such example would be having mashed potatoes on a dark colored plate so the loved one can see the food better.
In today's episode, we talk with guest Sara McCunnie about the use of color and pattern in dementia design. Sara comes to us from New Zealand and is a registered architect in both New Zealand and Australia. She likes building resilience and reserve in people living with dementia with a goal of the right balance of risk adverse environments and meaningful engagement. Her architectural practice has always been informed by research, both academic and evidence based.
