Speaker 1:

Hello World of Uzi. I am Inevitable Podcast. Today is Thursday, april 10th 2024. This is a Silicon Television Podcast. We're talking about Silicon Television. My name is Caleb Chase. What up?

Speaker 2:

Doing good, bro. Living the dream, what about?

Speaker 1:

you Doing great. Happy birthday to Frank Lipscomb. Real, we'll miss you, big dog. Hell, yeah, yeah, chase. How you doing, man, how's it going, how's life?

Speaker 2:

I'm doing all right. Man Got a bit of an ankle injury I'm dealing with, but outside of that can't complain.

Speaker 1:

How'd you hurt your ankle?

Speaker 2:

outside. I can't complain. How'd you hurt your ankle? That's the crazy thing, bro. I really don't know. I fucked up this ankle back in 2022 on some. I dropped a fucking moped on it, a vio bike but I recovered from that and haven't had any issues and for the last two weeks it's just been bugging me. So I went in. I got some inflamed tendons my Achilles and one of the ones over the top of my ankle. It's a bitch to walk, but I'm out here.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's called getting old. It's called getting old, yeah, but on this episode today we're going to talk about Shogun. You know Chase has been watching that, so he's going to give us his thoughts on that. We're also going to get an X-Men 97 episode five. You know top three Thursday. Chase is going to rank his favorite animes that he wants to see adapted to the big screen and then we're going to close out the show. Talking about this Joker trailer, I'll probably watch it about 30 times already. I got a lot of thoughts on it, so I want to save that for last. So, because I'm very excited to talk about that. But, um, chase, you've been watching shogun. Um, first off, before you get into it, what is shogun? Nah, shogun is an FX series.

Speaker 2:

I don't remember if it's based off a book or not, but it's based off of pretty much real events. It takes place in the 1600s. You have five different lords or emperors all fighting for the top spot, shogun. And yeah, there's just like a lot of moving pieces. It's a lot of like guys playing chestnut checkers type shit, you know, and there's a. The main character is a British dude who washed up on shore like the first episode, his entire crew has been like sent to. Well, he doesn't really know he gets separated from his crew because he was talking shit to an emperor and somehow finagled his way into working for him. So, yeah, he's making his way, trying to find his way in japan. He has this translator who's fine as hell, who's like with him, pretty much 24 7 and they kind of have chemistry going on throughout the series. But she's also married to like Lord Torinaga, his like right-hand man or like you know the head of his army, type shit.

Speaker 2:

And this is the guy that Anjin the white guy is working for, or a foreigner, anjin. But yeah, it's a very intricate series. There's a lot of pieces that connect that you really wouldn't put together until you see like another episode or two type shit that leave some cliffhangers in certain storylines. And, yeah, it's been a very interesting watch. I am hoping they're going to do multiple seasons of this shit because it was described to me as like Game of Thrones level show before I watched it and as a huge Game of Thrones fan, shogun is probably the closest thing I've seen. Huge Game of Thrones fan they. Yeah, shogun is probably the closest thing I've seen to Game of Thrones outside of the Game of Thrones universe. So, yeah, it's been a fun watch, highly recommend so where are you at?

Speaker 1:

are you caught up on it? How many episodes are left to go in the season?

Speaker 2:

so we've gotten eight episodes. Episode eight dropped. Just last night I did watch that. I was pretty fucking high, though, and I was fading in and out, so I'm gonna have to go back and watch it again. But yeah, the way it's looking right now, things are heating up like a motherfucker. Lord Torinaga just got backdoored by a close friend and now he's got like an ultimatum to make, and no one in his camp is really rocking with his decision. So that is where we last left off.

Speaker 1:

With what I've seen, Okay, chase, at this point we're probably going to have you do weekly updates on it as the show goes on. I haven't watched any of it. I've heard a lot of good things about it, I just haven't watched it. It doesn't seem like something I'd be into, so I have not watched it. Yeah, that's Shogun, chase. Let's move on to X-Men 97. This is something that I'm into. Um episode five uh, you know this is, I guess I guess this is our gambit and rogue episode. Um and magneto. You know they all went to genosha. Whatever we had to see. Nightcrawler, emma frost, emma frost, that was cool seeing them. I wasn't expecting that. Well, we did see Emma Frost in the little intro last week, but she popped up in this one.

Speaker 2:

I had a feeling she would be coming up at some point. Just because we did have her in the intro, I told you we were going to see Cable sooner than later.

Speaker 1:

That too, yeah, good call on that. Yeah, we going to see Cable sooner than later.

Speaker 2:

That too yeah.

Speaker 1:

Good call on that. Yeah, we got to see Cable. I'm sure he's going to pop up again. I'll be honest, though, man, first two episodes they were amazing. These last I guess three episodes I haven't been that crazy about They've been fine. I'll be honest, though, bro, it was cool at first, but I think we're kind of overexposed with the cyclops and gene gray storyline. Like I just don't care as much anymore, man. Like I just think they're they're overdoing it, I feel you.

Speaker 2:

I kind of thought that uh storyline would have been wrapped up by now too yeah, I guess get some other cats involved, like I know, I know.

Speaker 1:

I know I said you know tighten down on wolverine, but man, he's like an afterthought at this point. Like we gotta, we gotta throw him yeah, I know the wolverine episode's coming.

Speaker 2:

It's coming, I just don't know when, but it's gonna come soon no, I have noticed that he's been kind of reduced to like a sim character. If he's not fighting, he's talking to gene and sounding kind of pathetic, like Like as much as. I fuck with Wolverine as a character. It's like it's my boy or whatever that means.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so I wasn't too crazy about this episode. I did like the Sentinel fight at the end. That was pretty cool with Magneto and Jean Grey and Gambit. I gotta say, though, man like Rogue's my favorite X-Men character, but I don't fuck with this Rogue man. She freaking breaks up with this nigga, gambit, and then she goes up and starts kissing on Magneto in front of Gambit and then in the fight, I mean I doubt Gambit's dead, but you know he gets injured pretty bad and Rogue's sitting there consoling him crying at the end. It's like bitch. You broke up with this dude and was kissing up on another nigga like 10 minutes later. Like, fuck you. Like. I feel so bad for Gambit bro. He's really in love with Throat. He's getting did so dirty in this show man. It's crazy.

Speaker 2:

Yeah Night, who's getting done? Did more dirty Hammer Wolverine so far.

Speaker 1:

I'm gonna say Gambit. I mean, yes, wolverine's getting did dirty because he's not as involved as much, but he's not in a funk in this depressive state like freaking Gambit is every episode. Yeah, that's real, but yeah, that's my thoughts on it.

Speaker 2:

Chase, any other things that stuck out to you in this episode five yeah, I was hyped that we got to see a nightcrawler, emma frost and a lot of the other mutants we came across. I was not expecting to see madeline prior like that soon again, nor like in a role of power. But, um, yeah, that sentinel fight came out of nowhere, bro. I did not expect some shit like that to go down and it was a very hype fight. But fuck, my main takeaway from this episode is like how much more are they gonna like nerf the roster bro, like we stay losing niggas like left and right. Storm ain't got their powers. Gene got possessed and was out of commission for a while. Still kind of is Fucking, there's no more Charles. Fucking. Magneto's gone. Now Gambit might be dead. Like when are they going to start adding motherfuckers, oh and Bishop's in the fucking future? Like when are we going to start adding back to this? Evening it up, you know?

Speaker 1:

Soon. I got a feeling Storm's going to be back really soon. I don't know. I get what you're saying, though it is kind of crazy. I do like how they utilize the Sentinels in this show, because to me in the original, the OG version, they just looked weird. Their movements, they looked all freaking. I don't know it just looked weird.

Speaker 2:

The story was ahead of the animation at that point in time.

Speaker 1:

Now everything's more controlled and balanced out. The Sentinels move like actual humans humans even though they're like, even though they're like 30 feet tall and uh whenever they do the live action next. But I hope they use the sentinels because signals won't really involve like that in live action that's real yeah you know.

Speaker 1:

but yeah, episode five, episode six coming out next week, we we're definitely going to talk about that. Chase, top three animes, man, what do you? First of all, can you give me a brief history, like, is there a history of animes, you know, going to live action? I'm not, I don't know. So is there a history of that?

Speaker 2:

there's quite a bit of history with it. Um, a lot of them are can be described as controversial, it's. I feel like it's hard to get anime at a adapted to live action. Like some of that shit just doesn't cross over well, I don't know what it is like explosions and powers looks cool and Avengers and like Transformers and a lot of these American movies and shit that we do. But when I watch some of the live action Japanese flicks and I know like there are budget differences, but I just feel like the type of visual effects and things that they go for when you're trying to show off like powers and shit, it usually doesn't translate well. Like Dragon Ball Z dog shit, fucking Bleach, which is another like goaded manga anime that came out when we were in like middle school yeah, the live action for that dog shit.

Speaker 1:

There was a live action Dragon Ball Z. Mm-hmm, when for that Dog shit? There was a live action Dragon Ball Z. Mm-hmm, when was that?

Speaker 2:

Shit. It might have been when we were in high school, or maybe right after, like early teens.

Speaker 1:

I'll have to look that up because I mean, dragon Ball Z was like the first anime crap I ever watched.

Speaker 2:

No like. As someone who enjoyed Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z growing up, I was very disappointed with this movie. It was like I cut it off halfway through type shit. It was that fucking goofy.

Speaker 1:

I'm about to look it up. All right, keep going though.

Speaker 2:

But, yeah, there's just been a lot of animes that have gotten the live action treatment and I feel like it doesn't always go over well for them. So, like for me personally, what I look for in um a live action remake I want something that's a little bit more grounded, a little more based in reality, easier to pull off. You know, you don't have to go crazy with the effects. We're more so focusing on the storyline. So, yeah, that is what I'm more so interested in seeing. Those are the stories I want to see being brought to live action. Like as much as I love naruto and um I do I had I have enjoyed the one piece live action. It was better than I expected it to be, but it still had moments where it could have been better, and I feel like that would be the case with most of these things yeah, all right, let's get into it.

Speaker 1:

It's top three. Um, this is gonna be just you, you know, because I don't, I'm not in the anime, but this was a topic that I was curious about because you know. Um, yeah, it was just something I was curious about, so let's get into it.

Speaker 2:

So let's hear our number three yeah, so number three for me, golden kamui. This is one of Jake's favorites and, honestly, after going through and watching the entire series, yeah, it's probably somewhere comfortably in my top 10, maybe even closer to five, if not higher, and it is a story that I feel like would translate very well to a live action. There really are no like. There is no power system or anything. It's just niggas scrapping and shooting.

Speaker 2:

It's like the story is basically sugimoto just got back from the war with russia. He's panhandling for gold, ends up running into a shirpa, an ainu japanese girl, which is like their version of native american. They be living off the grid, living off the land and shit, and yeah, they come together for this legend or mystery about a shit ton of gold that's hidden somewhere in, uh, northern japan. But you have to find, like these escaped convicts and link their tattoos together because it's all a fucking map and that will lead you to the gold. That is something that I think would be fucking dope as hell. Turned into a live action, it could be a movie or even like a series and, yeah, I could see that being very popular and actually like being some something where they cook. You know, yeah, they've been cooking with gas with that story but this dragon ball evolution movie.

Speaker 2:

I didn't realize how bad this shit was yeah, no dude, it is awful like it said, like I'm reading this and like apparently they were like they were planning on doing like two more sequels, but they got canceled because the first one was so bad yeah, no, like I know you're not an avatar fan, but like they had a live action movie like back when we were in middle school, high school as well and like everyone in the fandom has all just kind of agreed like we don't talk about that.

Speaker 1:

That's how dragon ball z fans feel about that movie too 14 on rotten tomato jesus christ and it's pretty much saying that this movie is the reason why we haven't had more live action, anime stuff.

Speaker 2:

No that is like that was one of the first ones and I feel like it kind of fucked it up for everyone else, like after that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's crazy. All right, Chase, let's move on. What do you got with your number two?

Speaker 2:

Yes, number two is one of my personal favorites. Spy Family yeah, so number two is one of my personal favorites. Spy Family Again, a typical. It's a slice of life in a way. The main character is a six-year-old girl going to a prestigious private school and both of her parents are technically spies. Her mom's an assassin, the dad is a spy, but neither of the two know about the job each other's job. They think they just work for the state in different areas and, yeah, you just see them all interact, coexist and try to keep their covers up. Oh, yeah, the daughter is psychic, by the way, she can read minds. So she knows her mom's an assassin, she knows the dad is a spy and, yeah, she just gets into a lot of wild shit because she can read minds and ends up being curious as fuck because she's six and getting into some shit she shouldn't be.

Speaker 1:

Man, that's crazy. It's crazy how deep this shit is. Chase. Like you, just I just keep thinking this shit's just a bunch of cartoons of motherfuckers doing wild shit, but this shit seems like some real-life deep shit.

Speaker 2:

No, dude, like I think you would also enjoy Spy Family. It's not like a dark tone, like I recommended Death Note and Vinland to you because I know you like shit like that. But as a parent to young girls, I think you would really fuck with Spy Family, because Twilight he kind of gives me vibes of you. I don't know, I can't explain it. He's very cool, calm, collected a lot of times, but like in his head he'd just be like man, what the fuck? And yeah, he's the guy who is the spy and also her father. But also his relationship with Anya is wholesome as hell. So, like I think you would. You would fuck with that. The girls might too, since they like anime. Nah, shit.

Speaker 1:

Alright, what you got for your number one, Alright, so number one if you didn't have a preconceived thought.

Speaker 2:

Vinland Saga, Like we've already seen Viking shows and Game of Thrones Vinland Saga is basically Game of Thrones without the dragons and people kind of doing magic every now and again. It's just motherfuckers with swords and shields, battle axes, fighting for their side and trying to get to Valhalla, trying to check a bag and get to Valhalla. And throughout all of this you have Thorfinn who doesn't give a fuck about none of that shit. He's just trying to catch revenge for his OG and, yeah, he goes through fucking literal hell for like 10 or 12 years after his father died, just so he could get revenge. And it's a lot of. It is very chilling, but just ah, it's so fucking just raw and emotional. It is a good ass show. It has made me cry several times.

Speaker 1:

The anime so like that is what I would love to see getting a lot of action would you say raylan sock is your favorite anime, because I hear you talk about it a lot yeah, yeah, if not, it's top three, top two.

Speaker 2:

That has been my favorite since I started reading it. I started reading it after I watched the first season.

Speaker 1:

I've been hooked ever since okay, all right, chase, those are top three. Um, let's talk about this joker trailer. Man, like before we talk about the trailer chase, what did you think of the first joker movie and what do you do you think of the backlash it received? Did you think it received the? You think it deserved the backlash that it received about it?

Speaker 2:

you know pretty much supporting the stuff that was happening in the movie no, I mean yes and no, because there were definitely people online who were like kind of idolizing the joker which, like you know, people like to uh identify with a villain. You know, we've all had our favorite villains, but that's one where, all right, we don't need too many of y'all like hyping this up. There's already like a lot of I don't know the word incel like just guys who will watch some shit like that and be like, yeah, that could be me and it's like no, no, we don't need more of that, we don't. So, like I understand the backlash that it got, but I do feel like it was a bit unnecessary at the same time I don't know Cause, like I don't know how many like cases or incidents spurred from that movie.

Speaker 2:

But shit, yeah, I feel like it got a lot more criticism than it deserved for that shit, because I personally enjoyed it. I've often said it's one of those movies that I really, really enjoyed, but I I'm not in a rush to watch it a second time you know, like I watched it in theaters and I came back thinking like fuck, that was really entertaining but really heavy.

Speaker 2:

And like I don't it's not that I shy away from giving it its praise, but like I'm not recommending that to like average moviegoers. Or like, oh, you're having a movie night, you should check this one out. Like that's. That's not something I'm recommending in most cases, but it's still a really good movie yeah, I love the joker.

Speaker 1:

He's my favorite character, he's my favorite fictional character ever. Uh, but like. To me this wasn't the j Like this was a movie about a man with severe mental health issues and to me this movie was just like the microcosm of what happens when those issues aren't attended to for an extended period of time. You know what I mean. Like yeah.

Speaker 1:

I think I think people's main issue with the movie was that it made him the protagonist. You know pretty much he was the hero in the movie. Was that it made him the protagonist? You know pretty pretty much he was the hero in the movie after right, after all the fucked up shit he did. And I don't know, in a movie if someone's a protagonist, I mean people are gonna want to. You know, I don't say like be to want to be that person, but you know they're like. You know I can look up to that person and as the movie went on like people started idolizing and looking up to the Joker or looking up to Arthur Fleck. You know, and I think that's I think people's main issue was that, like the movie, people, certain people thought the movie was like supporting what he was doing in the movie.

Speaker 2:

No, they made him too like redeeming, like you kind of want to root for him.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, like you kind of want to root for him, yeah, and like I know it sounds fucked up to say, but like I don't see nothing wrong with rooting for him. Like obviously, him, him killing. Robert de niro's character was fucked up and I'm killing the people on the. What was it on the bus, or oh?

Speaker 2:

yeah, they're to an extent.

Speaker 1:

You can root for him yeah, man, like I'm sorry, bro, he was getting treated so badly like and people knew that he had like severe issues. Bro, he was getting treated so badly like, and people knew that he had like severe issues and he was getting treated so fucking badly, I didn't think it was cool. I didn't, I didn't think it was cool the shit they were doing with like him and zazie beats you know where.

Speaker 2:

You know he was thought he was, that was cool, but that fucked me up in the angle.

Speaker 1:

Uh, it did, it did mean based on the trailer, that shit's going to be happening again. Let's get into the trailer. What did you think of the trailer for Joker for Leia D.

Speaker 2:

It looks dope man Looks very fire. Lady Gaga looks great as Harley Quinn. The before and after. I like her with the clown face paint or makeup, whatever. And yeah, I am intrigued to see where this movie goes, because this is still like Joker without Batman. So how much chaos. And also, just coming off the aftermath of the first one, like where in the story are we leaving off at? Did he get? Caught up after all that shit he did.

Speaker 1:

I mean, the movie ends with him in prison or whatever.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's true, but like he's got to get out.

Speaker 1:

Well, obviously you see that in the trailer.

Speaker 2:

It's like, yeah, what goes on and went on in his time in Arkham. And also like how much more has he like goes on and went on in his time in Arkham and also how much more has he spiraled into the character we know as the Joker? Or is it still just Arthur Fleck and dealing with all that?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I can't lie, bro. I love this trailer. This is my most anticipated movie of the fucking year. This passes up Deadpool for me. This shit looks fucking beautiful. I love Joaquin Phoenix. I don't see how he gets skinny for these Joker movies and then after he can just go back to his regular size. I think it's kind of crazy, because he looks sick in these movies, you know.

Speaker 1:

I mean like he looks fun yeah you know, um, I want to apologize to a lady gaga. You know, I was very skeptical about her uh being, yeah, harley quinn. But uh, can't lie man, she's a fire actress. I never, I never say nothing about her being an act, about her acting skills, but she looks, she looks amazing, she looks great. I think she's gonna do.

Speaker 1:

This is obviously just a teaser trailer, but I've seen enough. I'm locked in. Uh, I'm ready for it. You know, um, I do find it interesting that they're changing up her harley quinn's origin.

Speaker 1:

Like I don't know if you notice this, but well, I don't know which is the case, but based off the beginning of the trailer, it looks like lady gaga is an inmate in arkham and not a doctor. I don't know what's that. She looks like an inmate. But towards the end of the trailer, when you know her and arthur are talking on opposite sides of the glass, I don't know like therapist role, that's what I'm saying. Like is she not at that? That's what I'm saying. Like, watching that, I'm like so is she an inmate or is she his doctor? Because I don't think they're gonna let inmates like visit with each other like that, through glass mirrors. I think that's, you know, reserved for visitors. I mean, I'm not a I'm not an expert on how the prison system works, but but that kind of looked like a visitation-type situation, more so than an inmate-type situation. So I'm glad that they didn't identify that in the trailer.

Speaker 1:

But it's kind of weird because, you know, she looked like an inmate in there in the beginning and towards the end I kind of got the vibe that she was not an inmate. So I don't really know where it's going to go, but I'm locked in for her. Obviously, you know they're going to meet each other in there. They're going to end up getting out and causing chaos. The musical stuff my opinion on the musical stuff is that, just like the first one, when he was having those, they ended up not being real situations. I think that's what it's going to be in this movie. Like every time, you know they're dressed up in the movie, stuff going on, that's. That's them envisioning stuff that's not really happening. I mean, I could be wrong. That's just the vibes I got and uh, I get you.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and I don't know, but I can see it taking that route too yeah, like this just looks like the fucking gotham version of la la land.

Speaker 1:

Like this shit looks amazing, like shout out to todd fucking philip. He taught philips as an underrated fucking director and like he totally switched it up because early on he was known as like the comedy guy you know. He directed like old school and road trip and all the hangover movies, and then he and then and then and then I did not know this was him doing the jokers.

Speaker 1:

Okay, yeah, yeah. And then he just switched it up to these dark Joker movies. Like I think that's fucking amazing how he could just switch like that. Cause those other movies, those are just pure comedies. You know what I mean. I mean they movies. You know well, the first hangover is good. I can't really I don't like the other two, but um but I wasn't mad at the other two.

Speaker 2:

I like three better than two.

Speaker 1:

I wasn't mad, but I just felt like they were pointless. But obviously I had to do that after they made so much money. But, um, right, but no, I do this. This trail looks so fucking beautiful, bro, like that ending shot where she, where she draws the smile with the lips. That's so beautiful bro. I want a poster of that shit. That shit looks so fucking beautiful and I just love movies where they're able to make the background look like a certain point in time. That shit just looks like 1970s New York. I can't really explain it, but they just do a good job of the setting of these movies. It looks great. I don't know what's going to happen. I doubt it's going to make a billion dollars again, but Oscar-wise bro, this shit's going to be nominated for everything again.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I can see it too, joaquin Phoenix he's going to get. I don't know if he'll win, because someone's never won twice for the same character. That'd be insane if that happened.

Speaker 2:

Hey, that'd be fire as fuck. I want it to happen First time, for everything you know.

Speaker 1:

But given given a comic book character to Oscars like that, well, I think there will be three. Because the heat, but you know the same person for that role. So, through because of Heath, but the same person for that role, that'd be insane. I'm rooting for it. Lady Gaga I don't know how I'm going to assume she has a big role in this movie because her name was plastered all over pretty much everything in the trailer. She was not said just as much as Joker. Who knows If she can have a chance at maybe SNAE an Oscar nomination. That'd be cool.

Speaker 2:

I think she can. Just with the recent rise in love for Harley Quinn, it would be wild as hell for her to only get 15 minutes of screen time in this shit, or whatever.

Speaker 1:

Plus, lady Gaga's already won an Oscar. It was her original song or whatever. She's already won an oscar, so and she, like, like you mentioned, she's, she's, she's a good actress, so I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna doubt that she has an opportunity to do that. You know, todd phillips he's gonna get nominated again. You know, best picture, best director, all that good stuff uh, this movie won in 2019 for best actor, for joaquin phoenix, and best. I can see the best score happening again with the freaking, but as much music as we're going to hear in this movie, I can see it happening, you know. And then, as far as like visual shit, like visual, not visual effects, but cinematography or whatever, I can see like, yeah, I'm excited, I'm so excited for this movie. Yeah, man, I'm excited, I'm so excited for this movie.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, man Can't wait for the fall we got some heat.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we got Joker and Venom 3 coming out in the same month.

Speaker 2:

Which one are you more excited for, chase?

Speaker 1:

Well, considering I haven't seen Venom 2, it's safe to assume Joker oh man, the two villains are the two biggest superheroes ever come on they are, but only one of these series is good hey, I somewhat agree.

Speaker 2:

I love Tom Hardy man, but I'm sorry that first venom movie was a little cringe.

Speaker 1:

Just, corny, it's not the way I want to see venom it ain't the way I want to see venom, but I do like the first one. I do like it. It's a. It's a solid movie. Um, okay, sure we get out of here. Man, what's the last thing you watched? You know, take Shogun out of it. You already talked about that. What else you've been watching?

Speaker 2:

uh, outside of Shogun shit, golden Kamuy. I finished that up. I'm trying to think what other animes have I been on? Oh, tokyo Revengers is another really good one. They have a live action already.

Speaker 2:

It's another one of the stories that I feel like would translate well, but it already has an adaptation, so I didn't want to put it on the list. I haven't seen it, but I feel like it's one of the ones I've heard good reviews about, so I think it would be good. But yeah, I've been taking Herm through that. He's big into the gang culture shit here so I thought, yeah, you should see how the Japanese do it. It's another one of my eh, I wouldn't say faves, but it's up there for me.

Speaker 2:

I enjoyed watching the first season so much I started reading it and read it front to back. The manga has already ended. Season two just came out last year and it's my first time going through watching it. I just hadn't gotten around to it. But, yeah, binged the first season in about a week and just started the second season earlier this week watching it. I just hadn't gotten around to it, binged the first season in about a week and just started the second season earlier this week with him. That's been a fun watch. It's basically an older guy, 26, 27. He thinks he's about to die. Then his life flashes before his eyes. He's 13 again, he's back in middle school, he's in a gang and he's got his childhood girlfriend back with him and he finds out he can go back and forth through time.

Speaker 2:

And he's just trying to save her and a bunch of his other childhood friends. But every time he comes back to the present, something fucked up happens or someone dies. So he has to go back. It's very interesting.

Speaker 1:

See for me season two of Ozark.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you've been telling me about that.

Speaker 1:

Can't lie, bro. Season one, that shit was hot, that shit was great, that was great. Tv season one, season two, bro, I don't know to the I'm starting to question this show, like you know how certain shows they just drag on and like they just keep adding new shit to the story because they don't really know where it's going. Like I feel like I'm getting yeah, I'm getting there with in season two of Ozark and that kind of scares me, because I've heard that seasons three and four of Ozark are not good at all damn so if it's already starting to creep in in season two, I'm worried man you know, but apparently season three and season four, you know there were some issues with it because that was like around the same time as COVID or whatever, um, which is understandable.

Speaker 1:

But yeah, I don't know. I I want to finish it, but I can envision myself tapping out if this stuff gets worse, because I just feel like they're at a point now where they're just throwing out new shit just to see how it sticks. I mean, it's still somewhat entertaining, but I'm starting to lose a little interest. But I only watched the show because of Julia Garner. Shout out to her, she's a great fucking actress. She is really fucking good. I do think her not being involved in the second season is part of why I'm not enjoying it as much. But yeah, either way, ozark, it's a solid show. It's a solid show.

Speaker 1:

Chase movie-wise man are you going to go to the movies any time this week? I think I'm going to go check out this first Omen movie sometime this week because I've heard it's really good. We talked about it, monkey man, I heard. This Omen movie is really fucking good.

Speaker 2:

Okay, yeah, I'll try to get out to the movies this weekend. I still haven't seen Monkey man either. I wanted to go see that last weekend but didn't have some shit come up so I wasn't able to. But yeah, I'm going to try to catch one of those two this weekend.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you know, monkey man, the Omen, even that Immaculate horror movie with Sidney Sweeney I heard that one was solid too. Okay, seems like these horror movies are uh, you know, they're doing all right, they're not, they're not all, they're not all shitty anymore, I mean we are in a bit of a renaissance.

Speaker 2:

I feel like people have gotten away from the slasher shit and like just blood and gore and I've realized like, nah, some of this like psychological thriller shit is actually the really scary shit. Let's uh fuck with ghosts or like people being possessed, you know Shit like that. That's a lot more eerie than like a seven-foot-tall dude in a mask, you know.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, for sure, for sure. But yeah, that's all we got for today, me, and will be back next week. Talk about some more x-97. Talk about some more shogun. Um, hopefully we get another new trailer come out sometime soon, because these trailers lately have been really fucking good. Um, chase, I'll see you next week. Have a great week, my brother you too bro.
