Buckle up for a thrilling discussion that's at the very nerve center of our nation's political scene! This episode is a deep dive into the third indictment of Donald Trump, highlighting the importance of impartiality in our two-party system. We take you on a journey through the labyrinth of the modern economy and the soaring gas prices. With a keen eye, we scrutinize a recent Fox News poll that questions whether we are, indeed, better off than a year ago. We also delve into Ruth Marcus' viewpoint on the high-stakes gamble of prosecuting Trump and why ignoring his actions could spell even more dire consequences.

But that's not all! We also unpack Mike Pence's recent claim of his powerlessness on January 6th. In today's volatile political climate, differences can often lead to divisions, but we underscore the need to remain open-minded and preserve our relationships, irrespective of our disagreements. Speaker 1:

you, you, hello, welcome to project eight podcast. I'm your host, steve Mann. Today I want to touch a couple of topics. One is the indictment third indictment of Trump. How much more can you give this guy? You know you just fueling the fire on that, but anyway, we'll get into that. If you want to donate, you can go to our website at wwwprojectapodcastcom, scroll all the way to the bottom and donate. If you like our content here, click this like and share, get that algorithm going, help us out, appreciate it. Any little bit helps, even if it's just a like or share. So, anyway, back to Trump. Yeah, I mean, they keep going after this guy.

Speaker 1:

I voted for Trump, I was. I was up in the air on whether I was going to vote for him in 2024. And I would have to say that today I'm going to continue to support the guy. He, he's for us, he is for the, the, the patriot American, if you will that live by the Constitution. Without the Constitution, we would just be a regular democracy, or who knows where we would be. We'd probably still be under England rule. It's still be, you know, but for a front. Thank God for a founding father that fought for us to have these freedom that we have today and we cannot take them for granted and we cannot lose them. I read a sign saying that the freedoms that you, something like this I'm paraphrasing but something like this, the freedoms that you choose to lose today, your grandchildren may never know the freedoms that we have, and I don't know about you, but I don't want my grandchildren growing up like that. So I'm not trying to make this a Democrat Republican. You know one way we all need work.

Speaker 1:

Okay, this country, we have the two party government system in the Republic, for a reason. Okay, one cannot have too much power, which in today's it seems like there's a double standard. And and the Democrats have all the power and all the, all, the, just all the power, man, and, and they can do what they want. And that's that's not fair, that's not fair to the poor people, that's not fair to the middle class. You know, look at the economy today it's, it's in shambles. You know, they they did a I think it was Fox News did a poll asking are you better off than a year ago? And some say, oh, I'm much better, some say can't really tell, and then the majority of the people saying that there's way worse than what they were a year ago.

Speaker 1:

Gas prices are on the rise again. I think the national average is like six dollars and something right now. I think. I'm sorry I might have that number wrong, but in some states they are paying up six dollars a gallon. In my state, I think, we're we we went up like 17 cents and we're paying like 347 right right now. So it was a. It was a huge jump, but.

Speaker 1:

But but back to I mean, how much more can they? Can they go after this guy? And then, why aren't they doing anything about Hunter Biden and Joe Biden? You know Joe Biden clearly was on the take if the Sun was involved. I'm just saying, if you're gonna indict Trump, indict Joe Biden and Hunter Biden. Okay, just to be fair again, two-party system man, you know we got to do what's right. If we're gonna one guy for something, let's go after the other guy. So I'm gonna play a clip here. I'm gonna share my screen. It's the first time I've ever done this, guys, so please bear with me. This is my third episode, so please bear bear with me and let's see how we can do this. If I can't do this, let's see. Here, here we go, you, you Well, I guess that's not going to play. Let's try this one more time. I apologize back up.

Speaker 2:

Thank you for coming back today. Good morning to you. So you have cases in Washington DC, New York City, Southeast Florida and soon to be Atlanta, Georgia. Which, if any, do you think go to trial before Election Day 2024?

Speaker 4:

Well, most people would bet on the May date in the federal case. Often courts will yield to a federal case of that kind. The problem is that the government filed the superseding indictment. They added claims, they added a party. That's a pretty wide open door for the Trump team to say okay, you have a new case now with these alterations, give us a new trial date. That trial date would likely be after the election, so we still have to see if it's even possible to do that.

Speaker 1:

So I'm going to pause that a minute. I think that they should go ahead and do the court dates before the election. That way, this is said and done and Trump can prove his innocence. So we'll continue on in this and talk about it.

Speaker 4:

We'll find that that case in Florida will have classified documents. I lead defense counsel in those types of cases and it is a very slow process.

Speaker 3:

Okay. The other thing is, as you've had a chance to think this through, I know, last time on the 5, the indictment came out and we were all scrambling to read it as quickly as we could. You did it so well. I thought it was interesting. Ruth Marcus is a lawyer herself. She writes for the Washington Post. She comes at things from the left and she says in her piece today that it is terrible and tragic even that it has come to this. But then the last two lines say this prosecuting Trump on these charges is a grave, even perilous, step. Condoning his behavior by ignoring it would be far worse. And I'm wondering what you think about the wisdom.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to stop right there too, because ignoring it, it would be far worse. I don't think I'm not going to say I don't think I know Trump didn't do anything wrong. Okay, they're just trying to dig up some stuff and indict this gentleman so he doesn't become president in 2024. That's or throw enough heat on him to where nobody evolved from, which that's wrong. The more times that he's indicted, his numbers have gone up. We'll continue.

Speaker 3:

Jack Smith bringing these charges, particularly when a lot of the things like, for example, this letter that was going to be sent to the states that says that the electors were supposed to be different it never went. So what are they proving?

Speaker 4:

Well, that's a very good question. You know, what concerns me is that many of the people celebrating this second indictment are just simply dismissing the implications for free speech. Those are quite dire and real. I mean, this is criminalizing disinformation.

Speaker 1:

The Supreme Court said Now, in January 6th, when Trump said we're going to walk down, you know, walk down peacefully and let your voice be heard. He didn't say go down there and tear the place up, so you can't indict him on on that for insight and inciting it, because he said let's walk down peacefully. I saw it, I was, I was, I saw the whole thing unfold and there are some patriots that are still locked up, that were at the January 6th of Rally, but I believe wholeheartedly that those people did not take place in the destruction, in the mayhem on January 6th.

Speaker 4:

And that a politician who knowingly lied in the case of of alvarez was still constitutionally protected. What the Department of Justice is saying here is we recognize that politicians could say false things, but just not Trump, because he was told they were false so politicians Can't say false things.

Speaker 1:

They say false things all the time whenever they're campaigning. You know there we get lied to all the time, whether it's a Republican or Democrat. They said, well, we're gonna do this, we're gonna do that. They get an office, and they forget all about the stuff that they, that they promised us that they were gonna do.

Speaker 4:

Well, what type of standard is that? I mean you, you're entitled not to believe some people in favor of others. You have lawyers who said, no, this was a stolen election. Yes, you could challenge certain.

Speaker 1:

Stolen election. I think there was some fraud. Just like everybody else does, I have speculation and suspicions that some, if not a lot, voter fraud took place. We can't prove it, we can only go by what we got. And you know I'm not gonna I'm not gonna sit here and sell you some Hopium, you know it's. We are where we're at and we just have to keep fighting To get over this hurdle. I'm not saying that Donald Trump is the fix all guy, but they are threatened by him and that's where these indictments are coming from. When he campaigned in 2016 or when, when he was elected in 2016, he did everything he said he was gonna do.

Speaker 1:

And I was watching something on Fox News and I don't watch Fox News all the time. I only like good Phil, great Good, that's. I only watch good Phil. All the other stuff is just same stuff day and day out. So but but yeah, I mean I've you hear all this. You know stuff on on this Fox News and Jen you know about the January 6 ends up. I mean I stopped really watching after Tucker left because he was him and Greg Gutfeld were the only ones that I really, really, true, truly enjoyed. I mean you can hate me for it. I'm sure I'm going to get a lot of hate for playing this today, but I mean, it just aggravates me that this indictment, this third indictment, just came out and I keep going after this guy. It's not you know, it's they want to stop this guy from becoming the next president of the United States. I think they're only helping his cause rather than hurting it.

Speaker 4:

I disagree with that. Many people did, but that doesn't make it a crime, right. But very few people are considering the implications of all that that the Department of Justice is saying that it can now arrest politicians who failed to yield, who don't accept the truth, according to what the government says has been established.

Speaker 2:

Let me bring in the Wall Street Journal editor.

Speaker 1:

So if we allow this stuff to happen and I'm not saying like you know, we should do something the only thing we should do is get involved at the local level. Get involved in your county, your city, you know. Volunteer to the stuff. You know, knock on the doors, you know, do, do whatever, support your candidate and any which way that you can. Okay, if it's a bumper sticker or getting out there and handing out literature, you know.

Speaker 1:

But on the other hand, I mean, in today's world, that's, that's kind of dangerous, because if you go out there and you pass somebody something that their support the other guy, they might get violent with you. You know, just just be peaceful and pass it out, just inform people what they're doing. But get involved, you know. Get involved in your poll, become a poll volunteer. That's, that's what we can do, and the only thing that we can do is get the voice out. We can all have an opinion, right? It's whether we, how we act on on that opinion. You know, I have family members that I constantly argue with over certain political view.

Speaker 1:

But that doesn't mean I don't love it. Right, we can all agree to disagree and still be friends. There's no, no reason to get violent over a political party. You got to love one another man. Here's another. I want to play something that I saw earlier today about Mr Mike Pence, former vice president. Mike Pence, just bear with me a minute. Sorry, that's my dog barking there. I'm sorry, sorry, so new, but anyway, I had something to do with with Mike Pence stating that what he did on January 6, well, he didn't have any power. Okay, I'm going to have to end this screen. I apologize. I thought I had enough time to do this, but I will do a rebuttal on it very soon. I'm happy for coming in and taking a look, and I shall see you in a couple of days. Thank you.
