When One Flesh Becomes Two

On this particular day I was processing another layer of my losses and this letter written to the Lord,  was about losing my husband of 45 years and the deep bonding between us. This is what I wrote…
“Jesus, You are the One who bonded us so deeply so we could not fall apart, no matter how hard the attacks were against us. From the terrifying war we survived, to the loss of our baby, to the fire that burned our house up, to the heartbreaking losses in ministry and so many other things that should have parted us.  But You had  welded us together and nothing could separate us! Now… that bond is forever gone and I am mentally and emotionally deeply affected.  How do I figure out how to separate the ‘one flesh’ that You made us into? My mind does not compute this! How does one flesh become two again?”  

And this is what the Spirit of the Lord whispered back to me…
