Born and raised in the United States, Chris graduated from University of California Berkeley, majoring in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (EECS). He taught computer science at that university for 3 years, and worked at Google as a software engineer for 5 years. In 2023, he quit Google, and moved to Tokyo, Japan to teach English.
