Kushla Chadwick:

Hey, welcome to another minisode. I'm so excited. today I'm gonna kind of riff a little bit on an old fashion type of marketing. I think it's old fashioned anyway. But it's really simple, and really pow erful. It's what actually helped launch my coaching business and I think it might be something you might want to add to your marketing.

Kushla Chadwick:

So, this is a funny question. The question is does referral marketing still work? And I know when I hear the words referral marketing it sounds like 1980s, maybe even 1970s to me. It's just just old-fashioned and yet for me, I love referral marketing. It's not the main form of marketing that I do right, but I have structure set up in place, because I know that it works well. It's really simple to do, if you're good at your craft right, i f you're confident about the value you bring, about the transformation you can help people with within? Yes, of course, and if you had clients who had success, even better, like be cause they're gonna become your raving fans, and you wanna have things in place where it makes it easy for them to refer other people to work with you. know, let's shine, actually do a great job. They just are going to want to want to refer you to other people anyway. But it doesn't mean you can't have structures in place to make it easier for more people to say, hey, I want to send someone your way, right? So does referral marketing work? A big hell, yes, it works. It works so well. I have made hundreds of thousands of dollars from referral marketing alone with very, very simple structures. So if you are thinking about it for sure, see, I'm like a big yes, add that to your marketing suite. Now would it be the only way of marketing that you do? I recommend a big hell no to that, because there are cases where, in fact, I had a client start working with me. She was getting all of the business from referrals and then the company that she was working with that was sending her referrals for the business. They had some changes and literally overnight all the referrals that she was getting sent to her dried up. And she suddenly went from earning like five figures per month to nothing. And so, yeah, just relying on referrals alone is a very unsafe strategy, in my opinion.

Kushla Chadwick:

Really amazing to support you when you've got other strategies in place as well. And the thing is you don't have control over referrals. Like you have control over what you're putting in Facebook group. You have control over the emails that you send. You don't have control actually, I will say you don't have control of Facebook itself, the platform, but you know there is more control there versus referral marketing. So, yes, it works. It works brilliantly.

Kushla Chadwick:

Yo u want to do it the right way because, oh my goodness, some people do it in such a like, a funky way. It's like ugh, it repels people. You want to do it the right way. There's some really simple, elegant, really lovely ways that you can do referral marketing and, like I said, I've made tons of money. It a ctually helped launch my coaching business and I had one person send me three referrals all of them signed up to work with me. Those are my first coaching clients and I was often away and doing five figure months right from the very beginning, which I know isn't common for a lot of coaches, but it was great for me, though you know that I don't want to make it sound like it was an overnight success, because I was not. I had years of like training and learning and doing other things, trying other things, and on the online space first. So you know, I just don't want to give that false assumption. But back to the point, referrals can be an amazing way to get clients and really simple, really elegant. So, I hope that that answers your question well. Add it to your marketing suite if you're thinking about it, and if you are really good at your craft, if you're confident about the transformation you offer people, if you have clients who say that oh, my goodness, that was so good working with you. Then for sure you're ready to,

Kushla Chadwick:

if you haven't got one in place, put in a referral strategy in what you're already doing that's working well. Okay? It just makes sense to do that. If you are at the beginning of your journey, you're like a hard "no, I haven't. I Haven't worked with any paying clients yet. You could be the same as me. Everyone's gonna have their first coaching client and, as I said, my fir st coaching clients were from referrals. And so, I didn't know that I'd be, like I didn't have, not that I didn't know, I felt like I knew that I'd been amazing coach right. So, I had that confidence in myself and had confidence in my ability to figure things out. And I would just say, as long as you know that you're at least a step or two ahead of the clients you're gonna enroll, and you feel confident about that step or two where you're ahead of them. And you're not trying to make it sound like more than that. Like, you can just specifically help them with a problem you're helping them to solve, and you feel good about your ability to do that. Then, you're on to a sweet thing. You know one of my first clients actually,

Kushla Chadwick:

signed up to work with me as a referral, and she wanted help to create the Tele Summit right. Now, I had created a Tele Summit before so, I could help her to do that. I had created a checklist of all the things that I did to create the Telesummit blah, blah, blah right. Now, had I done tons of Tele Summits before? No, I hadn't, but I had done one and I participated in others. So I knew the tech side of what needed to be done, and that was enough. Like I wasn't the Tele Summit queen, but it was enough. Actually, it was more than enough for her because within a matter of a few weeks, she had built that Tally Summit and her putting it together, and me helping to put it together and knowing what to do. She had built an email list up to it over a thousand people. And, if you know anything about was building, you'll know that starting out the gate, like this was her starting a marketing journey. Like starting off, and building a list of over a thousand people in a few short weeks is awesome, right? And so, yeah, we're able to do that and kickstart her own coaching expert business.

Kushla Chadwick:

Anyway, does referral marketing work? Yes. And if it's speaking to you right now, and you want to be able to add it to your plate, go and do it. "Go do it as my recommendation. If you want help and support doing that, reach out to me and my team and you we will speak about how we can help you to implement an awesome referral strategy that will really help bring in more paying clients. Okay, anyway, let's work with the job, can't you see?
