Spring Cleaning: Are Your Thoughts Hijacking You?
Today I'm giving you caution. I'm cautioning you to pay attention to your thought patterns. That's the advice from one of my favorite life coaches, Dr. Richard Carlson. His “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff” books have been my go-to life guides for decades.
In this episode, I want to share why I'm so passionate about speaking to groups on mindset and happiness and why every single talk I give starts with self-talk awareness and resilience.
❤️ In this week’s dare, you are going to become aware of your thoughts and self-talk using my TALK technique. Here's how it works:
T. Take Notice: Pay attention to what you're thinking and how you feel throughout the day. Acknowledge your emotions and thoughts.
A. Acknowledge: Name the emotion you're feeling and notice how it feels in your body. When you do this, it creates distance between you, your thought, and your emotion.
L. Learn from It: Get curious about the thoughts you had and why you're feeling the way you're feeling. Ask yourself why you're feeling this way and what might have triggered it.
K. Kick it Out: Challenge the negative thought or replace it with something more positive. When you practice noticing, acknowledging, learning, and reframing, you build up self-talk resilience.
