The Intersection of The Foster Care System and Faith Communities
Apr 24, 2024
Christie Love, Holly Madden, and Rue Lohn

The conversation this week centered around foster care and the desperate need for the church's involvement in leading the movement around system reform, championing reunification, and prioritizing relational care and support for families that are working towards reunification.

Holly shared the book The Invisible Child, by Andrea Elliott.

We also talked at length about the Family Connection Program that Christie and Holly co-founded in 2018 to provide a safe space and relational support for families working towards reunification.

Trigger Warning: This conversation talks about issues of foster care, family separation, adoption, aging out of care, and mental illness.

We hope you are able to find a safe, supportive community in your deconstructing because "no one deserves to deconstruct alone" as we mentioned during week 17. Our Flipped Table Theology Facebook group may be a starting place for you and we encourage anyone who is deconstructing or processing religious trauma to join.

The Flipped Table Theology Podcast is a production of The Flipped Table Collective. You can explore all of the resources, classes, events, and trainings that the Flipped Table Collective has to offer at www.flippedtablecollective.com.
