Being a parent is hard work. Becoming a parent is also hard work. And for parents looking to create a family through gestational surrogacy, it is even more work. Just like there are requirements to becoming a Surrogate, there are requirements to becoming Intended Parents. In this Surrogacy Talk, Frank Golden discusses six requirements to become an Intended Parent and what they mean for couples hoping to become parents with the help of a Gestational Surrogate.

Being a parent is hard work. Becoming a parent is also hard work. And for parents looking to create a family through gestational surrogacy, it is even more work. Welcome to Surrogacy Talk with me, your fabulous host and family building expert, Frank Golden. I'll be talking about surrogacy, IVF, and making babies. Hi, everyone. Welcome to Surrogacy Talk. I'm Frank Golden, the agency director and founder of Golden Surrogacy, one of the nation's leading surrogacy agencies. Now, today, I have a very important topic to discuss with all of our intended parents. But before I dive in I would like to remind you that if you find this topic helpful, please be sure to follow us on all of our social media. Now, today, I'm discussing intended parent requirements. Many of these requirements are set by the ASRM, or the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and these are very important in order to begin the surrogacy process. Now, the first would be age criteria. We see a max age for our intended parent couples of 110. For our single intended parents, 55. There can be some flexibility here, depending on the fertility center. And if you book a consultation with us, I would love to discuss how that may impact matching as well. Now, moving on, another requirement for intended parents would be that you need to be financially secure. The surrogacy process is expensive, and we want to make sure that you do not face any financial hardship at various stages in the surrogacy journey. Again, during the consultation process, we can discuss what your budgetary requirements or financial goals are. Now, another important piece of criteria would be having the support of all of the loved ones and family and friends in your life. Going through a surrogacy journey can be a beautiful thing. And it's important to bring those in that you may need for support along the way. This is so important. Another requirement would be that you need to be able to pass a background check, not have any sort of criminal history. This is very important. And then one of the last pieces of criteria would be that you need to be willing to undergo a counseling session with a mental health provider to assess your preparedness to embark upon a surrogacy journey. And in most cases, this has nothing to do with you being mentally stable or mentally fit, but really being able to tackle all of the nuances, whether that be during egg donation if you're an intended parent selecting a donor, or what that relationship looks like with your surrogate. All of these eventualities, your feelings, where your expectations are for your surrogacy journey, these are things that are discussed during your counseling session to really ensure that you are prepared for that experience. And one final requirement that we have here at Golden is that all of our intended parents be open to accept the unknown, be open to build a relationship with your surrogate, be optimistic, be transparent, be open-minded, and have a fantastic journey. This is so, so important and will make all the difference on your journey. And that's all I have for you today. Thank you so much for tuning in. I hope you found this topic helpful. I would love the feedback. I would love to hear from you or if you have questions or would like me to address a different topic during a different segment, go ahead and slide into the DMs as they say and send me a message. It's @Golden_Surrogacy, or you can tweet me @GoldenSurrogacy. And again, my name is Frank Golden, reminding all of you that Everyone Deserves a Family.
