When it comes to midlife, there are a lot of people talking about menopause and having a midlife crisis. This isn’t one of those podcasts. While we may occasionally talk about the menopausal transition, but that’s not our focus. Because we believe that midlife is so much more than menopause. And it’s certainly not a crisis.
At the School of Midlife, we’re looking to make midlife our best life.

Work with Laurie
SPEAKER01: Welcome to the School of Midlife podcast. I'm your host, Laurie Reynoldson. This is the podcast for the midlife woman who's starting to ask herself big life questions like, what do I want? Is it too late for me? And what's my legacy beyond my family and my work? Each week, we're answering these questions and more. At the School of Midlife, we're learning all of the life lessons they didn't teach us in school. And we're figuring out, finally, what it is we want to be when we grow up. Let's make midlife your best life.
If you ask women what they love most about midlife, many of them will say something about the freedom to be exactly who they are, to finally become exactly who they were meant to be. Isn't that really our life's work? Figuring out who we are and the gifts we have and sharing those with the world? Does that sound a little too woo-woo-y to you? It might. As high-achieving midlife women, we spend a lot of time and energy chasing tangible things in this life. A new car, a big house, a new job with a big title. All of these things are in the 3D world. Sometimes we find that we have all of the tangible things we always thought we ever wanted. But it still feels like something is missing. I've been there. And my life completely changed when I started tapping into some of the 5D world. So energy. Spirituality. Greater power. Source. A little energy, source, spirituality. That's always good for us, isn't it?
In today's episode of the School of Midlife podcast, I'm talking with Lori Lisai, an expert in human design. Lori introduces us to the system of human design, something more than just another personality test. She breaks down the different profiles and provides insight on how knowing our human design chart will help us know ourselves better. Before you listen, if you are in a position where you can safely do so, like you're not driving a car, I'd encourage you to pause this episode right now and grab your free chart from Lori's website. There's a clickable link in the show notes. That way, it'll be easier for you to follow along if you have your chart in hand. Things will just make more sense to you. I will say, too, that this episode is the first of two episodes with Lori because we couldn't stop talking. I know you'll find human design as fascinating as I do. Anytime I can learn more about myself, why I do the things I do, what motivates me, what my purpose is, I feel like it's time very well spent. I can't wait for you to hear this discussion.
Hi, Lori, how are you today? I'm so excited that you are here with us.
SPEAKER_00: That's so great. Thank you so much for having me, Laurie. I love that I know another Laurie.
SPEAKER_01: And there are no more Loris anymore. Have you noticed that? Absolutely. I mean, Lauren or Laurel, but Laurie is, you can always tell a woman is of a certain age because her name is Laurie. That's not what we're here to talk about today, though. Sorry about that side tangent there. But we, I'm just fascinated by human design. And I have just dipped my toe into this a bit. I am just beyond excited to talk to you about human design today. I think before we start, though, we probably need to level set a little bit here to give our listeners a sort of a baseline understanding of what human design is. So can you give us a brief overview? Yeah, absolutely. And for those of you listening, you can't see me using the air quotes, but maybe you, so maybe brief overview isn't the right thing, but because I know that's a tall task. There's so much we could talk about, but maybe the 30,000 foot view of what human design is and why we should care.
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely. And you're so right. It's a very in-depth, it's a system, essentially, for better knowing yourself. That's the way I like to describe it to people who are especially brand new to it. And it's a collection of systems, really. So it involves the chakra system, the Chinese I Ching, the Kabbalah, Western astrology. And so it takes some of those ancient wisdoms and combines them with science, with genetics and quantum mechanics. And it's this synthesis of all of those things, so out comes something brand new. And it is all based on your birth information, so your birth time, date and place. And as long as you know that, one of the things I love about human design is that there's no guesswork. There's no quiz that you have to take and answer questions. It's just put in your birth time and what you get, we call a body graph, a human design body graph or a chart. And it's essentially your energetic blueprint. It's like how your energy is meant to function in this body, in this world, in this lifetime.
SPEAKER_01: So many questions. Okay. How long has it been around? If we're talking about the synthesis of science and all of these ancient ways of thinking and being. Who developed human design? Is this a new way of looking at the world?
SPEAKER_00: Yeah. In terms of all of the systems, it is relatively new. The idea of bringing them all together So it was downloaded, essentially, this idea of pulling them all together by a man who changed his name to Ra Uru Hu. And he, classic spiritual journey, went to Ibiza and had this really intense experience where all of this information came to him, and then he spent the rest of his life teaching it. And what I love about it, it was in the early 80s. 1980s. Yes, yes, exactly. So one of the things I love about the system is it's always meant to be an experiment. It's never, it's not dogma. It's not this is who you are and nothing can ever change. And if you're not following this exactly, then you're doing it wrong. It's really meant to invite you into an experiment and see how, you know, by learning the principles and understanding how your energy works, when you actually follow that, how does it change your life? How does it help you actually be more authentic and feel more aligned?
SPEAKER_01: Fascinating. I think as high achieving women for most of our life, we are pretty hard charging and we tend to dwell a little bit more in the black or white and we don't take into consideration how our energy really impacts what we're doing. I've been reading and studying a lot about that and I am very excited to delve into that further with you today because I think it's an important piece of figuring out who we are in life and just saying we were going to do the thing and then doing the thing led to the fulfillment that we all seem to want, then we would have everything that we always thought we ever wanted right now. But there's some energy and some woo-woo that I feel like we need to be open to that a lot of us have been closed off to. Okay, let's talk about then Okay, we're talking about this energetic blueprint, and you mentioned that you need to know the day you were born, where you were born. I think those are pretty easy. Most of us know that. You also need to know what time you were born. So I guess a couple questions here. Why is your human design body chart or profile, or if I'm saying that wrong, please forgive me, but you can just call it a chart. Thank you. So why is your chart dependent on that information? And then the follow up question is, if you are like off by 12 or 14 or 16 hours, how does that change the outcome of the chart?
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, great question. It goes back to the fact that we're all connected and everything is energy. And part of the system is based in astrology. And if you think about our universe, the planets are constantly moving, right? And so when we're off 12 or 14 hours, then there are things in your chart that can change. It really depends on the day. I've looked at some charts where essentially very little changes from if they were born just after midnight. to all the way if they were born at 11 59 p.m. There are maybe only a few something called gates that change versus other things. So you might have three completely different energy types throughout the day. So that's really getting your correct birth time is a really it's a good favor to do yourself. If you don't have any idea. Maybe your birth certificate doesn't have it on there. Maybe there's nobody around. Perhaps you were adopted. All these reasons. There are woo-woo ways to determine your time. There's also something called birth chart rectification where you can work with an astrologer. And then you can also just plug in a few different times and again go back to that experimentation and really try to see what resonates and play around with it. But the answer to how does your birthday actually determine the chart is it goes back to something called neutrinos. So this is the kind of science, some of the science of human design. And neutrinos are the tiniest bit of measurable matter that we have in the universe that exists. And essentially they're in the ether. They're everywhere. They're passing through all of these objects in front of us, including our bodies that seem solid. They're always moving throughout the universe and they carry information. And so your human design chart is created from that information. Essentially, you have two parts to you, your energetic blueprint. You have a conscious side. So if you're looking at your chart on the right hand side, you have a list of planets and numbers that say personality on the top or they might say, yeah, they say personality. So that side, all of that information comes through at the moment of your birth. And then roughly 88 days before your birth is when the other side of your chart, the unconscious side or the design side, comes in and is literally imprinted through your mother 88 days before you were born, which is about the time that consciousness happens. Very interesting to see the stream of information coming in and giving you this imprint and creating this energetic blueprint for you in total based on your time.
SPEAKER_01: I'm looking at my chart right now and For those of you who, obviously you're listening to the podcast, you can't, you don't have a chart in front of you, but like Lori said, there is a one column on the left side that says design, another one on the right side that says personality, and then in the middle is essentially a diagram of what like a chakra chart would look like. I don't know. I'm not as familiar with all of the chakras, but there is from the head chakra to the root chakra. Is the head the top? Yes, it is. Okay. It might be helpful to, I'm trying to figure out how we can describe this for people that aren't.
SPEAKER_00: Can I take a crack at it? Please, I would love that. When you're looking at a chart, essentially you see a number of different shapes and the difference between the energy centers, which are the shapes in human design, and the chakra system is that the traditional chakra system has seven chakras and the human design system has nine energy centers. And the idea though of having a root chakra where we get grounded and a head chakra where we connect to our higher selves, there are similar themes happening in each of the centers. And you can just look at the different shapes, again called energy centers, to see where you have what's called definition. If you're looking at the shapes and they are colored in, then that means that those shapes for you are defined, those energy centers are defined. And if you're looking at them and they are white, then that means they are undefined. And the big takeaway for all of these shapes and definition versus not having definition is this is where we understand how our energy affects other people and how we take in and amplify other people's energy. So where you have definition, whatever your energy centers are that are defined, Think of yourself as a transmitter. You are like transmitting out that type of energy. You have consistent access to it. And then where your centers are white or undefined, you are pulling in other people's energy and amplifying it. And so what I find a lot of the work that I do with my clients is helping them to decondition those, especially the centers that are undefined, because oftentimes what will happen is people will take on that energy and kind of they'll make it mean something about themselves. And part of what human design teaches you is that actually that's not you. That's for you to process and let flow through. So I like to help people understand it as if you're a sieve or a colander. Let it flow through you like water and you still experience it. You still can feel the effects and the type of energy, but it's not meant to like stick with you. So can I use your chart as an example?
SPEAKER_01: Yes, before we go there. Yes. And I was going to talk about this at the end, but I think it makes perfect sense to do it right now. OK. Don't have your chart. Go to Lori's website. You can put in the information and literally in the press of a button, you can have your chart like it'll pop up. So I think our conversation and the rest of the this episode is going to make a lot more sense. to you if you have a chart in front of you. Is that fair?
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think so. If, you know, you can listen for kind of the basics of human design, but obviously I think you'll want to know, you know, what it really means for you.
SPEAKER_01: Yep. So let's, before we go to my chart, I think, but stop me if I'm getting ahead of myself, let's talk about the five different types of energy that you could, what type of energy types there are. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_00: Similar to astrology, astrology has 12 sun signs, right? So you're a Cancer, you're a Leo, Aquarius, whatever. In human design, oftentimes when people ask you, what is your human design? They are asking you, what is your energy type? And so in human design, there are five of those. And essentially what the type is all about is your aura. So think of that energy kind of orb that you have that's roughly six feet reaching out beyond your body and how that energy affects other people. So, five different types. The first type I like to start with is called a manifestor. And manifestors are about 9% of the population, so not a very large percentage of the population, 9 to 10. And their auras are strong and repelling, which can sound like, oh, I don't want to be a manifester. I don't want to repel people. But the reason that they are built like that is because they are here to initiate. They're very much here as our fire starters. That is part of the purpose of being that energy type. And they need for people, only the right people, to be let into that aura. So it functions like one of those strong exercise balls. So when a manifestor enters the room, people feel it. You can feel that energy. It's a very strong energy. And it protects them and allows the right people to come through and be able to get into their energy. Did you have a question?
SPEAKER_01: Yeah. Are there certain professions that we would typically see manifestors holding? Can you give us some examples of people in the real world that we might be familiar with and be like, oh, of course that person is a manifestor?
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so I don't like to necessarily say certain professions because really any type could do any profession probably. It really depends on so much more in your chart. But in terms of who are manifestors, think of that initiating energy and also the energy to like blaze new trails, create new pathways and new ways of doing things.
SPEAKER_01: So like an entrepreneur?
SPEAKER_00: It could, yes. Again, like going back, any type could be an entrepreneur.
SPEAKER_01: I like certainty and to categorize things.
SPEAKER_00: So I will give you some examples. Adele is a manifestor, a famous manifestor, and I think about her music is such a great example because it was pretty groundbreaking. Her sound, her The way that she even commands the stage is very like manifestor flavor. So I like to use her as an example. Perfect.
SPEAKER_01: That helps me put that into perspective. Excellent. Okay. Okay. So 9 to 10% of people are manifestors. Then what?
SPEAKER_00: Then we have projectors. Projectors are about 20% of the population and growing. Projectors are our guides. They're here to guide the energy of some of the other types, but essentially they have this unique ability to see from a bird's eye view perspective what needs to be changed, how things should work. I think about the wizard behind the curtain kind of thing. And their auras are piercing and very focused. So it can be somewhat unnerving to be in the company of a projector sometimes because it feels like you're caught with your underwear on or kind of something. Because they just see you very deeply. And it's a really beautiful thing. Princess Diana was a projector and I think such a lovely example of a projector who had a real sense of what needed to happen and the kind of change that needed to happen.
SPEAKER_01: Are most projectors, do they use their energy and focus for good or not necessarily?
SPEAKER_00: It's a great question. It comes back to alignment. When you are an aligned projector, then you're like unstoppable. You're making amazing strides and helping us live in a better world and being really happy while you're doing it probably. A lot of people who don't know that they're projectors, you know, can be really out of alignment or there's something called a strategy in human design, which is how we're meant to take action essentially. And projectors are here to really wait for invitations that recognize their wisdom. And when they're out of alignment, a lot of times they come across as like bossy pants energy. I told you so, or you should do this. Oftentimes, nobody asked you. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: I have a question for you. When was the last time you spent a day focused completely on yourself, away from the daily grind, the constant emails and text messages, the never-ending question of what is for dinner? Well, if a day sounds good to you, what about an entire weekend away? And before you start thinking that sounds a little too indulgent, let me remind you that you can't take care of everyone else in your life if you don't take care of yourself first. SPEAKER_00: So the third type are generators and generators are about 30% of the 33% sorry 37% of the population. That's a large chunk. Yes, the largest chunk of all of them are generators and Along with manifesting generators, which is your type, manifesting generators are 33%. And some people call manifesting generators like a subtype of the generator, which technically is true. I just like to talk about them as a separate type because I think there are quite a few differences. But generators and manifesting generators together make up 70% of the population. So this is really important for people to understand, I think, especially if you are in the other 30%, if you're either a manifester, projector, or a reflector, because you are living in a generator world. And a lot of times the alignment issues that happen come from that conditioning of being expected to operate like a generator. So generator types, what makes that, what makes you a generator type is that you have your sacral defined. So your sacral energy center when you're looking at your chart, there are two squares at the bottom of the chart. There's the root center and then right above that square right above it is called the sacral. And so if that's colored in, that means that you are either a generator or a manifesting generator.
SPEAKER_01: Generators have them both colored in. Is that what you said?
SPEAKER_00: No, not necessarily. It means if you have that center colored in, it means that you are either a generator type or a manifesting generator type. No worries. It's a lot of information. You're doing great.
SPEAKER_01: It's like learning a new language. Yes. So what type of energy do generators have?
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, generators with that sacral have creative life force energy. And this is where we get into the excitement, the drive, the getting lit up, that idea of your gut talking to you, that is your sacral. So when people say, listen to your gut, that's correct for 70% of the population. It's not necessarily correct for the other 30, but it is important, very important as a generator type. So that gut feeling tells you basically what is right for you. So, lots of creative life force energy where manifestors are here to initiate, projectors are here to guide this generator energy. So the generators are the builders. Say that one more time.
SPEAKER_01: Where manifestors are here to initiate, generators are here to guide?
SPEAKER_00: Nope. Projectors are here to guide generator energy. So what is it that projectors are guiding? They're guiding generators to do the creating. It's like the manifester is designed to come up with the ideas, see the vision, set the vision. And then the projector is, okay, I see where you're going. Hey, generators, we're going to build this thing. I'm going to guide your energy to show you how to do that. So that's as a whole, how we're all designed to work together.
SPEAKER_01: Isn't this fascinating? This is so interesting to me. Okay. Do we have examples of generators?
SPEAKER_00: Yeah. Beyonce is my favorite example of a generator. Yeah. So when we're talking about auras, the aura of a generator is warm and enveloping. And you think about her energy, it's like she's badass, but she's also like You're drawn to her. You can feel that enveloping nature to her energy. Another thing about generators is that they are designed to be masterful. And she's such a great example of that and taking her craft. Her latest album is such a great example of like how much growth she has made over her career and mastering her craft and doing it in all of these different ways.
SPEAKER_01: I would think, okay. I'm going to save that comment. Okay. More on generator or are we ready to go to manifesting generator?
SPEAKER_00: I think we can talk about manifesting generator. Okay. Over there.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah. 35% of the population.
SPEAKER_00: Correct. And so manifesting generators are a little bit manifester, a little bit generator.
SPEAKER_01: And that's where the curse comes in. as a manifesting generator myself. Sure, all the ideas, more ideas. How do we implement them? Let's go over here. It's almost like shiny object. I digress, but- No, you don't digress.
SPEAKER_00: You don't digress. Spoken like a true manifesting generator. Thank you very much. That's great. The difference between a generator and a manifesting generator is like the tortoise and the hare. I like to use that analogy because the generator needs momentum. It's I'm going to get going and it's slow and steady. I've got that like sacral Creative life force energy so I have lots of energy, but I have to get like momentum to get going Versus the hair is I had a ton of energy and I'm gonna go here and here. It's like darting all around They both get to the finish line. It's just the manifesting generator is gonna look for shortcuts and Always. They're looking for efficiencies. Efficiency is a key word for manifesting generators. Like, how can I don't want to read the whole manual. I'm going to put the IKEA furniture together. And if I have a few bolts left over, it's fine as long as it stays together. And so they're less likely to be as methodical as generators are a little more about let's jump in. Let's figure it out. They also are multi passionate. So having like lots of balls in the air at any one time is classic for a manifesting generator. The key is letting themselves let some drop and being okay with that. So a lot of conditioning that happens for manifesting generators is around like quitting and feeling guilty for quitting when actually you're a manifesting generator. You actually can and you should when something is no longer lighting you up.
SPEAKER_01: It's the difference between when you talk about balls dropping, which ones are made out of glass that are going to break if you drop them, which ones are rubber, they're going to bounce, and it doesn't matter. And it takes, speaking from personal experience, it takes decades to figure that out.
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah. But it's, I think, about us as parents and knowing our kids' types and being able to parent them. So if you have a manifesting generator child, you might be the parent who has five different instruments and 17 different sports equipments and maybe your kid only plays one season or picks it up and maybe they'll come back to it and maybe not. That's okay. That's part of how their energy is really here to express itself. So Tom Hanks is a great example of a manifesting generator and I like to use him because he has such an incredible career of different types of roles and the sheer number of things that this man has done is very manifesting generator kind of energy. And do we talk about the type of energy that his or I should say a manifesting generators aura? Yes. So they have the same aura as a generator. So also warm and enveloping. Yeah. That's important to understand. They don't have a manifester aura at all, which is why sometimes you'll find them like subcategorized under generators because they really they've got that same aura, warm and enveloping.
SPEAKER_01: Okay, and so if the manifester has the idea, the projector is the guide, the generator is the creative, then the manifesting generator is both an ideator and a creator, or no?
SPEAKER_00: Yes, more on the creative side. Like that, that creative life force energy, that sacral is key to a manifesting generator. And to get a little more complicated, it depends on your chart in terms of how the mechanics of your specific version of a manifesting generator works. So when we're talking just generally, general terms, you're really here to be creative life force energy. And so it's important for you to really listen to that gut instinct.
SPEAKER_01: Fascinating. Okay, that's four. What's number five?
SPEAKER_00: Okay, all right. So number five, if you're counting, you'll know that we have just a little tiny bit of the population left. It's 1% and it's reflectors. So reflectors are very rare. And if you are looking at a chart, what makes a reflector is that all of their centers are white. They have no definition.
SPEAKER_01: So they have no undefined They have everything is they have nothing defined. Everything is undefined. You got it.
SPEAKER_00: Exactly. Exactly. If you can imagine, as I said earlier, the purpose or how how the function of a defined or undefined center, if you have an undefined center, you're taking in other people's energy and and amplifying it. And it really depends on who you're around. in terms of there are master chameleons, really, reflectors are. Empaths? Oh, yes, yes, highly empathic. Literally, they are taking in every kind of energy. Traditionally, we think of empaths as emotional empaths, but reflectors are taking in all different types of energy and can literally be empathetic about your head or your identity or your root, they're experiencing all of that from other people.
SPEAKER_01: Is it exhausting to be a reflector?
SPEAKER_00: It sounds exhausting to me.
SPEAKER_01: I guess it depends on who you're around, right? Yeah. If you're always around a projector with this piercing focus or manifestor with this strong repelling aura, then maybe your Would you deplete more?
SPEAKER_00: That's a great question. Not necessarily. It just means that you have to be really good about boundaries. I think boundaries are really important for any of us with undefined centers and learning how to navigate that, but for reflectors especially. Reflectors really thrive spending time in nature because it's like nature kind of It's just a very kind of grounding, peaceful, oftentimes experience for them. And their auras are sampling. So they are doing that idea of they're literally taking like a little of this, a little of this. They're like trying a little bit on. And they're meant so, you know, going back to the function of all of the types, manifestors here to initiate, projectors here to guide. generators and manifesting generators here to build. Reflectors are here to be our cosmic mirrors. So the idea here is that they can reflect the health and well-being of the people, organizations, whatever around them. So that's essentially what they are meant for, their energy.
SPEAKER_01: Who would be a reflector?
SPEAKER_00: Sandra Bullock is a reflector and I feel like reflectors are maybe a little harder to be like, Oh, that's what one looks like. Because again, they're reflecting everybody around. Sandra Bullock, one of the things I love about her career as well is she's tried like a number of different types of acting. So I think that that's a great example of a reflector. in different situations, taking on the energy of other people and able to amplify it. But there aren't a lot of them either. Again, only 1% of the population.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah. Two questions and then I think we're going to have to do this in a two-parter because we've just gone through the chart and we were laying the groundwork so that we can understand what's going on. So I want to talk about some practical application in the next episode. But before we wrap here, what are some of the biggest myths or misconceptions do you think about human design that you'd like to clear up?
SPEAKER_00: Hmm, um, I think touching back on something I mentioned earlier in the episode about it being dogma or Being like this edict. Here's your energy. Here's your energetic blueprint. This is what you have to do all the time I think that really can trip people up and it can B, it can actually make them do the opposite of what it's intended to do. It's really a system about self-empowerment, but sometimes when you get too into the weeds, I'll use projectors as an example and say projectors have to do something called waiting for the invitation. I've seen some projectors get frozen in their tracks, especially entrepreneurial projectors where They don't want to share on social media, for example, because they don't feel like they've been invited. And in fact, that's not, if you are on social media and you have your own account and you're sharing things that you're excited about, learning, whatever the purpose is, if you're sharing, that's your space. You don't need to be invited. The invitation is when other people look at your stuff. If they're following you, that's the invitation. So you don't have to wait. Just helping people understand that this is all an experiment. It gives you language. It gives you like really beautiful, very specific language to you and your personality, how you function. And if something doesn't resonate, it's a place to get curious. It's not a place to feel like I'm doing this wrong or getting that sort of freeze response where you feel like you can't take action because something in your chart is telling you shouldn't. I think that is a pretty important myth to bust that it's really I like to think of it as a playground. It's a place to get in and just mess around. And for women in midlife, especially, who are in this like redefinition of ourselves, this phase, who am I now after I'm no longer a mother or no longer in the same career? This gives you that place to play around, to get curious. And it gives you specific things about you.
SPEAKER_01: And it seems so that actually segues very nicely into my second question before we wrap this episode. It seems like. Other, we'll call them personality types because I'm not sure, or personality quizzes because I don't really know how else to. Yeah, like Enneagram. Right. Yeah. If we talk about an Enneagram, if we talk about Myers-Briggs, if we talk about the DISC assessment, it seems like that a lot of times you'll find a lot of similarities between your Enneagram type and your Myers-Briggs. Like the this seems totally different to me though. So can you talk about how human design differs from other personality assessments and why we shouldn't Other personality assessments, to me, seem to really categorize, put you in a box. Of course you act like that because you're an extroverted, judger, thinker, you have a dominant personality, blah, blah, blah. This feels totally different to me.
SPEAKER_00: I think this, human design to me feels, it feels like at the foundational level. Say more about that. Yeah, where it's the way I talk about the work that I do is that human design helps you be who you came here to be. And it's this idea that we we choose to come here We're in this lifetime and this is the design, this is the energy that we chose to live out in this lifetime and express in this lifetime. And twins are a fascinating study because it's such a great look at nature versus nurture because so little changes in their chart. They're born minutes apart. So they essentially have identical charts. However, they're still humans. There's still free will. There's still conditioning of other people happening. And so how they choose to live out that energy can look very different. So those other quizzes and personality types, I think a lot of people who find themselves drawn to those are fascinated by human design because human design goes so much deeper. Like you said, we've barely scratched the surface here today, but it also gives you really specific places to look for you. It's not in those other quizzes, it's, okay, I fit into kind of this category. And while yes, there are categories in human design, like you might be a manifesting generator type, or you might have a defined root, or you might be a 5-2 profile. Those are categories, however, it goes back to that idea of the synthesis and pulling everything together to make it this beautiful, very in-depth version of you. The other thing I think about with those quizzes is you have to answer questions, right? It's based on what do you think? How do you function in this specific scenario, for example? And I know for me, so one of the things about my design is that I have an undefined identity center. And what that essentially means is that I can be many different people depending on what the situation is and who I'm around. So when I take those quizzes, I'm like, it depends. So then I end up answering something in the middle and I always feel like my results are Does this really reflect who I am? It might in one instance, but it might not. And with human design, it's just like, here it is, based on your birth time. There's no question about it. Now, because astrology is part of human design, and you saw the planets on the side of your chart, there are transits that affect us. just the same as when you're thinking about astrology itself. And for example, Pluto is an Aquarius right now. The planets are still moving and they are going to give you different definition in your chart throughout the years. There will be times when you experience definition in centers that's not usually there and you get to borrow it for the day or for a few days. I think it's when we look at the chart, I like to say that Everybody is all of the chart. There are many layers and at one in time, during your lifetime, you will experience all of the different parts. But it's still like the basics, that foundation that you came in with, that is always consistent. And that's what you can fall back on and count on and learn how to really use for your benefit.
SPEAKER_01: This has been great. I have maybe more questions than I thought when we started, but I think for right now, let's go ahead and wrap the episode. And this has been just such a great introduction. Thank you, Lori. You're welcome. If you want to understand some more practical applications or what do I do with this information now? Then make sure to tune in for the next episode where we're going to go a little bit deeper. Thanks so much for being here, Lori. Yeah, you're welcome. Thanks for having me.
Do you ever wish you had a community of midlife women you could go talk to about those big life questions that seem to pop up in midlife? Like, what do I want? What's my legacy? What's next for me?
