Looking at today's police officer, is it wrong to set a physical fitness standard on them? Considering the police and other services put an immense amount of stress on the person, be it shift work, dealing with trauma and long hours, the officer's body does react to this stress. for very action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. 12 hours of high stress tends to make the officer a bag of cement mentally for 12 hours. should the police have physical fitness standards for their officers?
