The year was 1999 and while everyone was bracing for the end of the world due to the oncoming doom called Y2K the Red Hot Chili Peppers released an album called Californication. The title track of the record did not describe the end of the world. It did, however, describe the dark world as it was and as it would be for the decades to come, a destination for the export of Californication.
