We take a serious turn on this week's Hot Happenings to highlight the upcoming lectures of Dr. Mads Gilbert, prominent Norwegian health care worker and activist for Palestine. He's coming at the end of the month to deliver his talk "Gaza 2024: A catastrophic man-made disaster. What can we do?", facilitated by the Félagið Ísland-Palestína (Iceland-Palestine Association).

We're joined by Salvör Gullbrá Þórarinsdóttir from the organisation to give us a small preview of the lecture, along with the importance of our local role in demanding an end to the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Dr. Mads Gilbert's lectures will take place on Monday May 27 at 20:00 in Háskólabíó, and Wednesday May 29 at 19:30 in Menningarhúsið Hof (Akureyri).

We go out on the new single "Stone" by Palestinian artist Bashar Murad, who will be performing at Iðnó on Saturday May 18 at 17:30 (all-ages) and 20:30 (18+). Tickets available on tix.is.

66 Degrees of Sound is a podcast production by The Reykjavík Grapevine, hosted by music editor Jóhannes Bjarkason and listings editor Rex Beckett.

Editing and intro music by Rex Beckett.

All tracks played on the show are in accordance with STEF, the Composers’ Rights Society of Iceland.
