Hello everybody. And welcome back to another episode of on the road with that Wisconsin. Couple episode, number 62. As always I am Hayden and I'm Julia. And today we take you to the north woods Managua. And BI. As always Julia hit him with a fun fact. My fun fact is that Managua is home to 2,300 bodies of water. One of the world's largest collections of fresh water bodies. It's also home to the world's largest penny and Woodriff, and also a Monarch was an island. It's called the island city sometimes. Those are your fun facts. Those are certainly entertaining facts. And we are talking about the Managua area, but although we did venture into Monarch, well, we also ventured north, south, east, and west. So we are calling it. Minako. Going by beyond, but it is. In Oneida and violin counties. Yeah. So I assuming this is where we stayed is about two hours, 45 minutes away. I'll 187 miles. No, it's actually just two minutes. Oh, that's totally fine. Yeah. Kevin, I think it was 15 minutes further. Sure. Yeah. So you're looking at, you know, Just just under three hours, just under 200 miles. For most. Super easy drive for us. It's just get on 39 and drive straight. Which is nice, honestly. Especially for the trip home. We were just there July 11th through the 14th. And if you want to hear other Northwoods podcast episodes, you can check out episode two to hear us talk about St. Germain and Eagle river or episode 40. To hear us talk about Mercer. Ah, and if you're having trouble finding the north woods, Under Google map. Don't worry about it. We got tons of pins for you. On our Google map. For a one-time fee, you get to keep it forever. Every week that we talk about something on the pod or we recommend on the pod. Gains a new pin. Talk about a bank for your buck, just an ever-growing. Map of new destinations dog friendly locations and just overall fun times. This episode is brought to you in part by Lakeland rentals and we are very happy to work with them. So we're going to chat a little bit about the cabin that they put us up in, and then what we did while we were there. Should we just jump right in here, jewels. I think so. I'm really excited about this one. All right. Why don't you let them know where we were staying at. We stayed on lower Gresham lake. And a resort. That's not very that resorty it's called Gresham lodge, but basically they have a bunch of cabins that are all on Airbnb, or you can go directly to Lakeland rentals. Website and you'll find them there, but we stayed in number six, smiling, moose, and it was a charming three bedroom. Cabin that is like old school. Northwoods vibes. And it had like the beautiful wood paneling and just like very cozy. And opened up to this big screen porch with a dining table. Perfect for outdoor meals, board games, fireplace, and then you could walk right down to the lake. I really liked it a lot. Yeah, it was absolutely fantastic. It was a. I mean, you do. Have like the other cabins right. In the surrounding area. So like, I guess it could be like super fun if it was like a busy weekend and there was just like a bunch of hustle and bustle there. Obviously like a good opportunity to meet new people. And it was also like experiences with them and stuff, but there was not a lot of people there when we were there, which was nice. It was like very peaceful and we kind of just got to. Kind of just got to enjoy that little slice of Gresham lake to ourselves. It was nice. And the water was very calm and glass like. Very beautiful. And the cabinet itself. I had a nice full bathroom, a full kitchen. There was no AC and honestly, we were like prepared, like we brought a fan, but they had plenty of fans in the cabin. And additionally, After we got there and opened all the windows and the breeze was going, we never were like hot in there. Yeah. I mean, do you got the, obviously it's going to be a little bit cooler down by the water, you know when it's not so hot out and I feel like we got a weekend where it wasn't like blistering hot anyways. Yeah. I mean, it wasn't going low eighties every day, so, yeah, but there's just, there's this always a constant breeze there. It seems. Which is nice. That's what I'm saying. So even though there wasn't AC once we got those windows open and we only used the fans the first night and then like, You know, once it was all opened up, we were totally fine. Well, you know, we never closed the windows after we opened them. Yeah. And it was not a problem. It was very nice. Yeah. It was very it was lovely. And when you wake up and you hear all the birdies, that's really enjoyable too. So that made me happy. But yeah, we had a great time. There is also a restaurant. Like on the site of the lake. So you could like walk to it from your cabin, like very short walk, it's very walkable. Very walkable on a peaceful, like a little back road tucked back there. So yes. Highly recommend. Gresham lodge. That's what it was called. They don't have hours posted on their door or anything, but I have them. I can read them to you. Julia's got them here. So we just kind of had to play it by ear a little bit. And we were fortunate enough to. Run into one of the employees that was obviously prepping to open and she told us. Yeah, I. I think she was one, four o'clock. Yes. So they're open four to nine on the weekends and then watch them on Facebook. They are going to open a few more weekdays. She said, so. Check them out. They had really good food, but again, we'll talk about food later, but Resort itself. Very calm, very peaceful, again, like right by the lake included a rowboat. Nice fireplace again. Three bedrooms. One had two twins and then two fulls. Big living space, dining room, table, screen, porch, and dining room table. I can't say enough. Good things. I really enjoyed this property. It's very likeness. old school field that I really, really enjoy so highly recommend it. It's definitely one of the more affordable cabins that we've stayed in this year. And also one of my favorites, but nonetheless, they still have some availability in August and early fall. So I would highly recommend booking those while you can. But addition to that, Lakeland does have lots and lots and lots of rentals in the Northwest area. So you can check out all of those. On their website by just scrolling down and hitting search. So yeah, the Lakeland cabin rental at lower Gresham lake where we stayed at, it was pretty awesome. Like we said, it was really. Peaceful quiet, which was to my surprise on the very first night we get there. It's you know, the sun just set. And all of a sudden, I just hear like a cannon go off. Oh, yeah. Like what in the hell was that? And then I hear another one, like what is going on? So, Whenever the Juliet was like, Hey, let's go down by the lake and see if we can see something. And there was just the guy. From his doctor shooting off massive fireworks. And like you remember where I've north lake, it is extremely quiet so we can not hear anyone else. Like we're the only people out on the lake, probably besides this guy shooting fireworks. And it just kind of felt like our own private show and it was very, we were celebrating our six year anniversary. It was very romantic and lovely. Yeah, we got we got some pretty cool videos. But like the echoes from the fireworks that would bank off. The water, the water was so cool. It was such a cool 10 minute. Firework show that we got it was. A very nice little surprise. That was such a nice surprise. Yeah, that was lovely. We had a great time. I just am like smiling ear to ear. Just thinking about this weekend. Honestly, so fun. One of my favorites. That we spent together. I think. Oh, yeah, it was awesome. And now we can talk a little bit about one more thing about the cabin. One more thing. Sorry, I'm sorry. It is dog friendly. They're Gresham lodge properties like these cabins on the, like near where we stayed and the one we stayed in our dog friendly, so huge bonus there. And if you go to Lakeland rental's website. You can also see which other properties are dog friendly as well. If that's a perk to you. Like it is to us. We actually didn't bring her dogs on this trip, but we have been to this area quite a few times. And at the time that we booked this collaboration, it was not dog friendly, but they have since changed that. And we already had a dog sitter and we ventured out without the pups in the Northwoods for the very first time. And. We got to see so much more than we normally do, because we can cover more ground without the faiths. Yeah, it was You know, you always miss the pups, but it is nice to just kind of get away to ourselves every now and then, and get to see the full. Offering that these places so I agree. It was I never regret bringing them when we do bring them, but it was very nice to have you all to myself. Yeah, it was awesome. And now we can move along to. Like my favorite portion of all the trips that we do, and that's just eating. Eating eating at new places. And Checking out. Cool. Local spots. And just anywhere we can we can go sit down and have an app or a drink or something. And Just relax and enjoy. Enjoy each other's company. Yeah. And the first one we're going to talk about, we did actually sit down and have real dinner at. But a lot of the times when we have no dogs, we love to just do apps and drinks and kind of bounce around. And that's how we covered so many restaurants. So we have a lot coming your way, but to start us off, let's go to little Bohemia lodge, where, when we walked in to some great live music, we were met with an awesome. Of rise. Yeah. So we've been talking about going to the little Bohemia lodge, like years since she's known about it. And. A little side story here. We, we right away, we pulled into Managua and we went to the Manaca yacht club. Cause we went to. That was one that we had been to before with the dogs. And then they did like a full remodel of it and like complete facelift. So we wanted to go check it out. And we were sitting up on the, on their new rooftop patio. And I just sent a picture to my buddy who also has a place up in the Managua Northwoods area. And I was just like, Hey man, you know, I'm kinda like he doesn't live there full time, but he's got a place. And I was just like, yeah, I'm up in your neck of the woods, you know? And he goes, oh, well, if you're looking for a little adventure, head to the little Bohemia lodge, my dad. Is like the full-time live musician that plays there. And I've known this guy since I was in high school, you know, like a freshman in high school and. I hadn't seen his dad and probably since I graduated high school, maybe a couple of times after just randomly. And I was like, oh, that's awesome. So. And I didn't tell Julia this little conversation that we had I had with, with Nick and. So like right when we walked into the doors and then I hear the music go on and I was like, oh yeah, that's Doug. I can, I can hear it. And I like leaned over to her and I was like, Hey, just a heads up. I'm pretty sure. Like I, a hundred percent was positive. I knew it, but I was just like, I'm pretty sure I know the guy that's playing. Okay. Where we even saw interjection. We had just walked in the door. Yes. You can't see the musician. Yes. But Hayden goes, I know this guy. And just so you know, he didn't does know everybody, but I'm like, yeah, yeah. Okay. Totally. Like we're in the Northwest, like, whatever. But no, like then my like walk up there, like I go straight to the bar cause I'm like, yeah. Okay. You know, this guy. And I ordered a drink. And then all of a sudden I turned around with my drink and a Hayden in the sky, or like, like so stoked to see each other. And I'm just like so confused. I'm like, he's like your dad's age. Like what is going on on. I'm just all sorts of confused. And it was just very funny because turns out he actually did know the guy. Yeah. And I, I, you know, he hadn't seen me, obviously just as long as I had seen him and I look nothing like I did probably the last time that. He saw me because I have long hair and a beard now. And I was not that back back when we really saw each other often. So, like, I kind of took him back by surprise a little bit and. Then, like he processed it and he was like, oh my gosh, Hayden, you know, we sat, we had a nice conversation and, and We exchanged numbers and, you know, he was like, oh, if you're ever back up here, you know, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And that'll segue. He'll come back in, later in the, in the podcast, but it was super fun to see Doug. And to see him in his element and bottom a beer requested a song and it was just, it was cool. It was cool to see him. It was number one, just cool to see him again. Number two, like. See him live in action was, was pretty sweet. And he was so kind, it was very nice to meet him. But then little Bohemia lodge is the iconic Northwood supper club for being known for, with a John Dillinger shootout happened. So have you ever seen the movie public enemies? It's also partly shot there, but they just have like all these school, newspaper articles and memorabilia and like historic things in the restaurant. They also have a museum that's open from three 30 to four 30 every day that they're open. But it is also open in the winter, like the, the supper clubs open in the winter. So this is a year round Northwoods business, but it's a beautiful supper club that has great dining views of a beautiful lake. In mandatory squatters and it's just gorgeous. Like the property and like, The old school building with all these windows, we had a great, our table had a great view of the sunsetting. The lake. It was very nice. And our food was good to recommend the French onion soup. I also loved the potato generals that came with dinner. And then I enjoyed some shrimp. Scampi? No, I can't remember. I never remember the name of these shrimp, but they're like the Parmesan crusted, like grilled shrimp. But they also came with pesto, pasta pesto, and that was really good. What'd you get? Yeah, I had the beef barley soup was fairly good. I haven't had that in so long. And. That hit the spot when for an appetizer for me and then a. And then I got the chicken parm. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And that was also very delicious, big, big portion of it too. I think I only ate like half of it. Yeah. And then our dessert was this amazing Berry cheesecake that I had an Oreo crust. Oh, yeah, that was good. That was a fabulous. So definitely the food was really cool. Justice school is a building. Really good. And then on our way out, It had kind of thinned out and there wasn't as many people dining and our server walked us over to where you can see the bullet holes in the windows and the walls of the dining room. So your table could be butted up to a window that has a bunch of bullet holes. They've obviously put double panes of windows on each side. So you can still see them, but it's also like not letting areas. Of the John Delondra shootout. So very, very cool historic spot. That finally guests check out. No dog-friendly seating there, but highly recommended. Yeah, it was a big place too. Yeah. And we were there on a Thursday evening. But we did not have to wait. Really for a table, I think we would have like five minutes. Yeah. Maybe I didn't feel like we just waited as long as we wanted it at the bar and well, yeah. And then when we told her we wanted a table, she was like, okay, let me just go set that for you. And then walked back and sat us right away. So that was lovely. Yeah. It was a. Really cool spot. I would like to go back there for the fish fry. Yeah, me too. Why don't you go ahead with the next one BIP. The next one is Dixie coffee house also in mandatory squatters. And super cute little coffee shop. They had paninis that we did for like a little brunch action. Pretty good. And also right on the lake front had beautiful outdoor dining area that is dog friendly, some multiple different areas to dine outside. And I just was a very, very nice. Affordable. Good. And then downstairs, they have a cute little shop as well, but I definitely liked that place and I would definitely go back with the dogs. Yeah. I could see that just like being a. Daily coffee. Stop breakfast. SLOs. This place was kind of just a, a wing it. We were kind of killing some time before we had a round of golf on for us Saturday, Friday. And so we were kind of just looking, Hey, you know what place is going to be hit? That are on the way to the golf course. And of course, you know, Julia she's. On top of everything and she found a place slows. And what a cool stop it was right across the road from. You know, one of the million lakes that are up there and they have some slips that you can use as restaurant guests. So there's three. Docs that you can pull up to, if you just want to like, visit for the afternoon off your boat. But you know, we sat down, ordered a couple of drinks,$2 bottles of Highlife, come on. Like I could sit there all day. Julia got a 32 ounce bucket, like Bacardi bucket. And it was so good. Some dragon fruit. Bacardi. Drink. It was so delicious. They also had a dog friendly patio. What did we get to eat there? We got duck one times. What's. What's some duck lawn signs. And then we split the fish taco wrap with potato pancakes and Hayden. We learned Hayden doesn't love potato pancakes. I don't love with data or it's not that I don't love with it up against. They tasted just fine. They're just hash Browns. Oh, that's right. It was. I don't know. I think there's just more savory, like more seasonings savory. I don't know. Nonetheless. SLOs was a hit and dog friendly. I would definitely go back there as well. I'm so happy. We stumbled across it. Oh, so if you're a UTV or there was a lot of UTVs in the parking lot, so. So this could be a good stop for you for lunch off the trail. I would imagine it's probably full of snowmobiles in the winter. If they get snow. Yeah. Normally they normally get shit. Okay. The next one is black bear in. This is we actually met one of my best friends was up there for the weekend with her kids staying at her mom's house, which is actually in LA. Def Lambo. So she was not that far away. And when she saw on Instagram that we were in town, She was like, let's meet up. So her husband, Mike and her, and my friend, Shelly met us for dinner at Blackberry in and We. I got the fish ride and we rocked it's pretty like just like small local Tavern vibes. Yup. Busy. It was so, but it was a Friday night. Like I get it. They were out of perch, which was a bummer, but I still got a fish fry and that was good. And Our friend Mike got full rack of ribs. But it was like 800 pounds. One of the biggest plate plates of ribs I've ever seen and shout out to my man. He. You didn't need all of it in one sitting, but he tackled those. Ribs. He went after that. Yeah. That was impressive. Shelley got what? The baked fish dry. Yeah. And then I got a Reuben. And it was fantastic. That's awesome. Yeah. Another place that one of you recommended when we put our little bubble up on Instagram and asked her Minako recommendations. One of you recommended that. So thank you. Because it was a very convenient spot located between the us and them. And it was great. Hell. Yeah. Another spot that was kind of just like a. Random stop that we decided to make while we were up there was the Aberdeen restaurant, a, B E R D E N. Aberdeen. And this was kind of. This was an interesting little. Bar hop. We did that day because there was a pretty good storm. It didn't hit us. We've got a little bit of rain. But there was like, Heavy winds. Big rain north of us. And something must've fallen. Tree must have fell down on something important because there was like a string of four restaurants who went to that were. Full-on. Powered outage. They were doing their best to stay operating and serve anybody that came in. But I could definitely see that being a struggle of a situation. And it was out for a long time. They were assessed and Aberdeen was the only one that had like a full blown generator. So they were still fully operational, but you know, the lights were a little flickering and but. I have no complaints. Everything was so good. Appetizer. We had where the call flour, we had to call flour, Buffalo cauliflower bites. Those were good. Those were good. And then I had a red pepper shrimp bisque, and we ordered the bread basket, which was basically just a warm, big get, and it was so delicious. And then I got the, I got like a mushroom, like a mushroom soup that was. Equally as fantastic. And yes, that a baguette was awesome. Yeah. Yeah, that was so good. I would definitely go back there. And they do have a patio. It's like lakefront. And they don't. Have servers out there, but you can like get your drinks and bring them out there, or order to go and sit out there and eat it. And honestly, I would, I would do that even if we have the dogs, because everything you had there was so yummy and you can do that with the dogs out there, which is nice. Yeah. Another place that we had passed the. You know, we pass it basically every time we go up there. Pretty centrally located and that's called the north fork, fin and filet. And we've passed this. I've seen it from the road. Right. And you're like, I was always like, oh, that place kind of looks pretty sweet. You know, like we should, we should check that out one time. And. It was much cooler. Once we went in there, he'd been then. It looked from the road and it looked pretty darn cool from the road. And they had this huge, huge covered outdoor patio. They had like two ping pong tables, a bunch of yard games out in the yard that they had. Bunch of seating outside that had a stage with live music and like a altered menu. Like walk-up cafeteria style, Culver style order. And you can get your drinks and you can get like an altered menu, but they, I believe, I believe from what I heard was like, no matter what the day is, you can always get that night special out. Yes. They were serving the primary of special out there, but they also have an everyday fish fry, which is like the way to my heart. That you could order out there as well, but that outdoor space you're right, is just really cool. And I had all those games and a nice fire pit. Big chairs and live music. So like that was awesome. Yeah. You know, they, they were making like good, I got an espresso martini out there and it was all plastic cups, which is fine. Weird from martini, but fine. Yeah, it was just. Yeah. I don't know if I've ever had an espresso martini or any martini and a plastic glass, but it was. Didn't alter the taste. That was fantastic. They were slinging up really cool drinks. A little on the pricier side, I would say. But it's a nice, it is a certainly a nice spot. I never went in. Did it look nice on the inside? It does look nice on the inside. And if you want to dine on the inside. You need a reservation. All I would say. And the outside is dog friendly. So put it on your list. Absolutely. We did touch a little bit on the Gresham lodge in the opening. This was the bar slash restaurant that was at our Lakeland rental complex. Yeah. It was we tried to go there the one time and it wasn't open and there was no signs or anything. They don't open till four. And we were trying to go like in the afternoon, but now we know, and we did make it there and they, we got these Tenderloin medallion. Christie's. That were very. Go ahead. And the Parmesan sauce they were in was like to die for. It was an entree, but we ordered it just to share as like an appetizer with a cocktail. Oh my gosh. It was so, so good. I have surprised me the. How good it was, but there's the menu in general. Surprise me. I didn't really know what to think. I just kind of, I just assumed bar food. I assume to bar food as well. And then I had heard, it was like a little bit of like barbecue and like yeah, they said their wings were really good and stuff. But yeah, that Tenderloin Cassini was phenomenal. I would, I would definitely get that again. And I'm not a huge steak person. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, I would like to explore a little bit more of that menu as well. Well, that seems like it wraps up like the main eating portion of. Our stay before we head into the drink action. A quick word from history in the Pines. So be sure to tune into history in the Pines every Monday for histories and mysteries of the Northwoods. On to the drinking portion of the trip and. I did my fair share of it. Secret. We did some drinking. We did do. So we started, like I said before when we first pulled into Managua, we hit the newly renovated Manaca yacht club. That had a really awesome, that was probably the hottest day. That was a hot day. Yeah. And you could tell it was a hot day, cause you're up on the, on the patio at their patio bar. And. Every single spot that had shade over, it was taken. Yeah, pretty much. And really like, so we have eaten there before the ground level patio is dog-friendly. But now they have like several patios as well as this rooftop bar the rooftop bar is very fun. They're serving great drinks. I got a 22 ons cocktail in a fun cup of that. I got to take home. And just as beautiful lake views of lake Managua. Yeah. And you know, if, if you like boats, there's a big old public dock there for you to come up, to get to the wall or to the. For the yacht club. And there were some cool boats that pulled up when, when things get busy. So it was a. Some nice people watching. Yeah. So with, or without your pups, this is great. Stop for food and drinks. But this time it was definitely for drinks and great atmosphere. And I really enjoyed it. Disclaimer, if you are big into pull tabs, make sure you are reading which tabs you are buying out of the machine, because this is the first time I've ever seen. The$1 option didn't work. Right. Yeah. The$1 option didn't work. And then there's the$2 option and a$5 option. So just be cautious when you throw a 20 in there. And you're wondering why you only got four pull tabs. Because they're five bucks, but yeah, but still awesome. Yeah, great spot. The next one is a little brown jug El. L B J as the locals call it. I loved it. Oh, I loved this bar. Definitely dive bar covered in dollar bills that everybody like has written their names on or like the year on or something. He didn't and I threw our TWC sticker on one and stuck it to the wall. And by the time we came back the very next day, it was already covered up by somebody else's dollar. There's just dollars everywhere. It's so cool. It's so unique. So fun. And then yeah, they're serving up great drinks. They do have a dog friendly patio. You'll kind of lose out on the fun atmosphere sitting out there, but a great stop, nonetheless. Oh yeah. Shut up. Ben holds for the recommendation. Then even met us there on a. On Friday night. Yeah. Well, we actually, we picked them up. But yeah, very cool. Little spot. I, it was everything I wanted it to be. And then some. I love a good dive bar packed two on that Friday night. It was packed when we got there on a Thursday afternoon. Yeah. It was a, it was a really good time. Really cool hangout spot. Yeah, I highly recommend. The next bar we just stopped into, again, killing time before our tee time. It was called the 19th hole and they do have a nine hole golf course. We have a nine hole par three. Thank you. That's what it was. And a little mini golf course area that's right across the street from the Saint romaine golf club. Yes. And then the mini golf. Course also has an ice cream shop that serves chocolate shop ice cream. So just kind of like a fun little spot and a cool patio there too. Like a big patio. If you want us outside. And you can watch the people golf on the par three, which is kind of sweet. That is cool. They. The ninth hole ends. The green is right outside of the. Patio. And it's just kind of like log cabin. On the inside. So yeah. Good little stop. They had the hilarious bear trap, the green bay packer bear trap. Oh, that was funny. It was pretty hilarious. And actually I think my favorite bar of the trip. Okay. I really liked a little brown dog, so maybe that was it, but, well, I like it. It's just two completely different, you know what I'm going to say. Types of types of hangout. Greer's peer marina has a bar called the lower unit bar and grill, and it's like great vibes, great energy. There are toll so many docks for people to pull, pull up to. So there's all this boat, traffic. We saw some water skiers, some wakeboarders but they have a fantastic cocktail menu. I highly recommend the channel runner. It's basically like their version of a long island and it was strong and it was good. And I need to shout out of Mike who's an architect at my work who gave us this recommendation because I would, it was not on my Google map and it was awesome. Highly recommend. If you don't know about it, it's hard to find. Yeah. And this was the first. The spot we went through that realized that there was a massive power outage, massive and. Like the perfect place, because it's all outdoor. It's a Tiki bar that just has two awnings, one that goes over the bar. One that goes over the two, just barbecue, normal backyard grills that you would have that they're slinging burgers and then everything else on their menu on. And the menu is pretty good though. It's like burgers, brats. They have some tacos and then like chips also guac, like that sort of thing. Chips, the chips and guac slept so good. And they were. Very delicious and yeah. So I think it's more of a pull your boat up place than a drive up and walk to. Yeah, for sure. But. At both the parking lot and the boats were full. So it's just a happening place. Nonetheless. I could also see you like. Trying to go and not being able to get in. Cause it's so busy. Yeah, literally just on a dock and it there's a sign that says no pets, please, but we did see dogs. And when I asked the staff, I was like, oh, are you not dog friendly? And she was just like, I mean, I know that sign's there, but like nobody cares because it's just boats and then she just like walked away. And I was like, okay, so they're not technically dog-friendly, but maybe there's like an exception. If you're on your boat, it's not on the dog friendly Google map. I'm not endorsing it. I'm just letting you know what we experienced. And what a perfect place to like lose power and still upgrader and Tammy, because there's no lights. Yeah. And sure like your stereo cut up, but somebody with just an awesome sound system and their boat pulled up and just was. The DJ. It was literally like a sandbar hangout. On a pier. Yeah, it was awesome. It was great. I really liked it. The next bar I want to mention is dog-friendly and it's another cool dive bar. It's called Happy's super dog-friendly. They have dog water bowls. It's like inside. So like your dog will come with you inside the dive bar. So they have to be kind of comfortable with a little bit of chaos. But I loved it. I loved this little stop and it was exactly that it was just a fun dive bar. Yeah. It was a, we. That was another one that we had past. Every time we went in, had we known it was dog friendly. We would've certainly went there. Actually in the winter. We go to this area a lot in the winter to do. Content because it's off season. So there's a lot of rentals that offer us places and we go up there and we didn't even know that this cool dive bar was dog-friendly. So cash only. Cash only, but the more, you know, that was lovely. I really enjoyed that spot and I can't wait to go back with the dogs. I don't. Remember this place off of my own memory, but I'm sure once you say something, I'll remember it. You broke a martini glass. Oh, yeah, that was like the coffee shop. Yeah. So it's called the bottle bean and it's cocktails and coffee. So you can go there in the morning, get your coffee, maybe a mimosa. I don't know. But they. I have like a really fun cocktail menu. I got this awesome. S'mores drink. What were you drinking that you broke? Hayden broke a blast. Oh, yeah. Espresso martini again. Very good. But they have a dog friendly patio. They also had some fire pits out there. Dog can't go inside and the inside is cute as well, but mostly just like high quality, fun cocktail bar. Yeah, the guy, the bartender was super cool. Super fun, very understandable or understanding when I broke the glass. Thank God. I had an extra pair of pants in my car because I spelled espresso. I'm RTD all over my shorts. This is kind of funny though. It was very hilarious. But yeah, that was kind of goofy. But yeah, I really liked that spot and I hope we can go back there every time because they're dog friendly and my little smores cocktail was really good. And then the last place on the drink list we had was P R E U S S apostrophe S This pub is right across the street from north fork, fin and filet. I mean, it's the definition of a local bar. Yeah. And there was locals ordering like a cool pizza. That looked really good. Two guys that come in like once a week and like just. Create their own pizza for them to make. Yeah. Seemed like they did like barbecue pork pizza, I think, but there was other pizzas on the menu. We were looking at the crab Rangoon pizza. It sounded good. We didn't end up getting it, but yeah, they have a full menu, dog friendly patio and yeah, just a cool local bar. Yeah, absolutely. Moving along to the explore portion of the pod. Why don't you start us off, babe? So the bear skin trail starts bright in downtown Managua and it's like the old rail to trail. So it's like that paved SA. Like granite. Or like that, you know, crushed granite, smooth easy walking trail, but it's like very long. I think it's like 18 miles each way. But you can walk it or bike it. And it's beautiful. It's so beautiful. We walked the dogs on this. I don't know if you remember it starts right in town. Yep. And I love this trail. My mom's sister and I. Multiple many years back, like to the whole thing and it was gorgeous. I love it so much. It gives you all the Northwoods vibes who could possibly want. So if you have a bike. Where you can rent bikes in town and I highly recommend it. Just truly beautiful. Yeah, it was a. I do. I do recall walking the dogs on there. It was beautiful views. Yeah. And you got to see some cool. Pretty cool houses too. Yeah. And you cross like Managua, there's all these bridges and boardwalks. It's just lovely. And like I said, it starts right in downtown and then I'm sticking them in Managua. I mean, just downtown Managua in general. Super easy place to walk around and see basically all the shops that they have to offer. You, they have a lots of good stores and I do really like I can't think of it. I think it's called Salters, which is like the outdoors e-store they have like lots of fun. Merge and stuff, but this, this trip, my I'm going to give you three of my favorites. Northern nest. That's where I bought you. Those candles. They also had beautiful cribbage boards, but I do highly recommend stepping in there. If you love look good, like a smell. Good. Like these candles were amazing. We got two different ones. We got white Birch and cozy cabin or Cedar cabin. Excuse me. And then the prettiest cribbage boards. I was so impressed by them. So if that's your jam, check it out. The next one is the old school candy store in downtown. It's called Dan's fudge. They have all sorts of candy, truffles, ice cream, salt, water, taffy, all the things. And the last one is earth goods. It's got a lot of really cool artsy souvenirs, but some cool Wisconsin things. And then it's also has like pottery painting in the back. So if you get a raining day, that would be a good option as well. I mean, it's almost mandatory when you're up there. You got to get on the water. Whether it's a boat rental or whether, if you know the guy who plays. The music at little Bohemia lodge. And he invites you out to his awesome house that he renovated and basically rebuilt and takes you out on the pontoon. And lock the Flambeau. Yeah, that was awesome. And different lakes from his house. Like that chain of lakes. And to make the world even smaller. Shelley and Mike Shelley and Shelly's parents, mom, right? Yeah. Shelley's. His mom lives like four houses down from this guy that was so wild. So yeah, the gentleman, Doug, who was playing music at little Bohemia lodge invites, Hayden and I out on his boat and we go, and it just happens to be right up the street from where my best friend's mom lives. And we had just gone to dinner with them the night before. So it's this very small world in the north woods. And it was crazy because we were so far from home, but so fun. So that was really awesome. Yeah, you gotta, you gotta figure out how to get on the water. It's not hard. No, it's not hard. There's lots of good rental options. And yeah, we just had a great time. We never have a bad time in the Northwest, so, and then Kind of just to wrap up the things that we did. If you want to go up there with your buddies or if you're. You and your wife or significant other enjoy golf. There's plenty of options. We did play the St. Germain golf club. Julia wrote along with me, she hit a couple balls whenever she felt like it. I didn't lose my verbal loss. You bought me. Got her, got her a purple golf ball. Kept that the entire time she hit it. But the Sandra man golf club. And the white tail in which is the restaurant attached to it that we didn't eat at. Two separate entities in the same building. So. Kind of just know what you're doing before you go in. And make a reservation if you want to eat there because. They were pretty much reservation. Only the night we were there and you can not eat the full menu at the bar, just appetizers, appetizers. So that's always something that we always try to look for is if we can eat at the bar, we like that. Not that there's anything wrong with just being able to have appetizers. Yeah. And their t-shirts were good. And they were very garlicky, which I loved. And then we also got a cup of the lobster bisque that Hayden enjoyed. And for the people out there that are golfing Saint, if you haven't golf St. Germain golf club. It is tight. It is narrow, but man, is it absolutely beautiful? There was some really cool golf holes on there. We got some pretty good content of us out on the. Out on the course. It was definitely a play again for me. Yeah, I would go back. It was so beautiful. And I mean, I haven't gone to nearly as many golf courses as you, but that was, I was like everywhere. We looked, it was pretty saw some critters and just beautiful. Yeah. I really enjoyed it. It was like, it's like a no doubter. We'll play again. Yeah. For me well, and speaking of that, the next time we go back, which will be in this area, but a bit further north, but not too far in August. And I hope you can play trout lake golf club too, because we've also heard really good things about this. And this is another one we've driven past 8,000 times. And we always will say, You'll go with it. You'll go with it. And then we haven't done it yet. So hopefully if we get some friends to come with us in August, you'll get to golf it. Yeah. We muttered about golfing it while we were out on the course on Friday and a little bit of bad weather and self-inflicted, I don't want to golf. The next day from. From the fun we had on Friday night. The other thing. That's still on my bucket list and Manaca that? I hope we go back when we are. We do, when we go back seven time is see that water ski show that everybody was talking about. It's called Managua. Aqua bets. Like bats. Sound super cool. So and it's also I think like most nights in the summer, it's like Wednesdays Friday, Saturdays, so that's cool too. Yeah, he used to work at Tommy Bartlett's water ski show in the Dells. Rip to that show. Yeah. But that was, that was the only ski show I I'd ever seen. So I would like to go see what it looks like up in the Northwoods as well. Yeah. But yeah, just a really great destination in general. And like I said, Lakeland rentals has properties all over this area. Like all over Ida county. So definitely check them out. If you're looking for a place to stay, like I said, there are still some openings for the end of summer, if you're looking for that last minute escape. They've got it. Do a long weekend. I can't recommend it enough. And we are heading back to the Northwoods in August. So if you have recommendations for us, please send them to us. If we miss something, we forgot your favorite spot. We didn't know what existed we got. Tell us about it. Yeah. Use the hashtag on the road with TWC. We want to see all the fun you guys have had out there in the Northwoods, and also want to know new places that we can go and enjoy. Absolutely. Thanks for riding along with those guys. Bye. Bye.
