Ready Set Reiki is a journey
From the curious beginner to the Season Master Teacher
All Energy workers of all systems and all levels.

Speaker 2:

This is Ready Set Reiki, a podcast about Reiki, the universal energy life force, From the curious beginner to the seasoned master teacher, welcoming all systems, all lineages and all levels. Reiki is a journey and not a destination, and on this Ready Set Reiki journey, we refer to ourselves as guides rather than hosts, as we too are traveling, supporting each other and learning on this Reiki journey as well. And with that said, I am your first guide, tracy Seawright, and I'm your second guide, millie Pampina. And today, what an honor it is to have a wonderful Reiki master that I had the privilege of meeting when she came to Joy Yoga in El Paso, texas, for a Mercado market, and she is Reiki master, michelle Moskowski, who, as a child, was very sick in her teens.

Speaker 2:

No doctors were able to know what was wrong with her. Her whole body was in pain and it was a chiropractor who introduced her to Reiki, and after a few treatments she was pain-free and so she went on to learn about this Reiki. She completed her Reiki master training certification in 2018, received her Master of Spiritual Science in June of 2021, and is currently studying her Doctorate of Spiritual Science through Peace Theological Semary and college of philosophy. Michelle is also a certified heart math practitioner and access conscious bars practitioner, and she is a member of the International Association of Reiki Professionals. And she also has the business Intuitive Wellness with Michelle. Michelle, welcome to Ready Set Reiki.

Speaker 4:

Thank you so much, you both, for having me. It's a privilege to be here today.

Speaker 2:

Wonderful, so let's dive right in. I gave our listeners just a little taste about you, so tell us about yourself.

Speaker 4:

Well, as you said, I'm a Reiki master teacher. I started my training in 2018. I live here in El Paso, texas, with my husband of almost 15 years and our four cats, who are just absolutely the sweetest and their own little Reiki masters too. I'm an only child, which was why it was very important, when I was so sick, to my mother to find me something that would help me. I'm fortunate that my parents actually moved here to El Paso back in 2018 as well, the same time that I was starting my training and my business. I have my own little office suite in the office building where I do, like you mentioned, reiki access bars, energetic facelift, heart math and just do my best to be a spiritual guide and help people start on this journey.

Speaker 2:

Wonderful, wonderful. And in the beginning I mentioned a little bit about your process with Reiki, how it came into your life. But let us know, did you find Reiki or did Reiki find you? Us know did?

Speaker 4:

you find Reiki or did Reiki find you? Reiki was thrust upon me, let's say so. I was 14. We're not going to say how many years ago, that was Not that many. So I had been incredibly sick.

Speaker 4:

It started when I was 13 as a viral upper respiratory infection. My mom took me to the pediatrician, like any responsible parent would do. Doctor said it's a virus. She'll, you know, just write it out, go home, she'll be fine. I wasn't fine. I had headaches so bad that I would black out. I was losing weight, as you mentioned. Everything in my body hurt and no one could figure out what was wrong with me. And I was passed from specialist to specialist to specialist. Nobody could give me a diagnosis, nobody could explain what was happening in my body. And I finally had a doctor look at me and say well, I don't know what's wrong with you, but as sick as you are, you're not going to live to drive a car. And I said okay, fine, I'm ready to just go home and crawl under the blankets and wait to die. I'm an only child, I'm a rainbow baby, and my mother was not okay with that.

Speaker 4:

So my registered nurse mother set out to find anything she could that would help her child. So she started dragging me to every hippy, dippy, trippy thing that she could find. I saw iridologists and herbologists and somebody put me on liquid chlorophyll which is the most disgusting thing ever and I still hate the taste of spearmint and finally took me to a chiropractor who said I know what's wrong with you and here's what you're going to do. And one of the things she suggested was seeing the Reiki practitioner, who worked out of her office, had never heard of it before, no clue what it was. So, of course, okay, what's that? She explained a little bit about it and I said heck, no, I'm not doing that Not happening. Insert argument between me and my mother where she says you know, you're my child and it's my money and you'll do what I say and it's my body and I do what I want. And we compromised that I would go and I would try it once, and if I could give her a legitimate explanation as to why I did not want to continue Reiki treatments, she would back off and that would be fine.

Speaker 4:

So I went for that first appointment. The practitioner's name was Julie she was really, you know, sweet, asked me some questions about how I was feeling, talked to her a little bit, laid down on the table and kind of waited and said, okay, now what? And uh, I don't know how long into the treatment, all of a sudden I'm like, why does my head feel funny? What is this sensation? And I realized it was that my head felt like it was so light, it felt like it was floating off the table and I said, okay, that's weird, and finish the treatment, go home. This was a Friday afternoon, went to bed that night, slept for 16 hours, did not stagger out to the kitchen until the next afternoon and had no clue what day it was. So that was the first time in over a year that I didn't have a headache and it was the first time in over a year that I slept through the night. So I said, okay, there is something to this, this is actually real and this is actually helpful.

Speaker 2:

So I truly credit Reiki with helping to save my life because it eased my pain and it gave me back my will to live. Wow, beautiful. Thank you for sharing that. How amazing is that? Unbelievable? And here you are.

Speaker 2:

Here I am here, you are, I love it, love it. Well, you have been blessed to have opportunities of going to markets and being out here in the community of El Paso, and as you're in these markets, I'm sure you have many people coming up asking you all kinds of different questions about it. So what is a common misperception about your work?

Speaker 4:

I think one of the most common misperceptions is that it's my energy that I'm using. I hear people ask all the time. It's like well, how do you not get tired like using your energy all the day and it's called no, no, no, I'm not using my energy. I'm the conduit. The energy is flowing through me rather than me using up my own.

Speaker 2:

All right, beautiful, Thank you. Our next question is as you were out in all of these different markets and expanding your territory and meeting other practitioners, what is something that you think that everybody in this industry should stop doing?

Speaker 4:

Should stop doing. I don't know if it's something that we should stop doing. I think we need to really start remembering that we need to take care of ourselves first.

Speaker 4:

So, we can take care of others. I see so many practitioners who end up in burnout. I see a lot of you know fellow practitioners who, just you know, we go, go, go and do, do, do because we want so much to help people and we get invited to do this and go here and be at this market and at some point we've got to learn to stop and say this is enough, my plate is full. Because here we are preaching self care right, fill your cup up and give from the overflow and here we are, just you know, dumping stuff out of our cup into everybody else. So I think that's one of one of the biggest issues that we face as practitioners?

Speaker 2:

Absolutely yeah, because we're always going and we want to be of service. And then this person reaches out and we don't take that time. And then you're like wait a minute, I need to be practicing what I'm preaching here, Right?

Speaker 4:

Right, and it's two o'clock on a Friday. Hey, can I come in this evening, like can you fit me in, like no, I'm sorry.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, we got to learn it's okay to say no, right to put those boundaries up. Yeah, those boundaries up and take care of yourself Very good. So what is something that you wish your younger self knew about this profession?

Speaker 4:

that I was going to end up in this profession Because this was totally not on on my radar as something to do. Yes, from that time I was 14, I was a believer, I absolutely loved Reiki and I saw that same practitioner until I went off to school and then in college I found a yoga practitioner who also did massage and Reiki and all those kinds of wonderful things and I worked with her through college. And then you get older and you become an adult and you move on in life and I was going to be a high school English teacher and change the world and I did, you know, do that for a time. But it was. It was not my intention to be a Reiki practitioner, so I really kind of wish that younger self knew I paid better attention, had asked you know people, more questions, had gained more knowledge than right, so I didn't feel like I had to play catch up. You know men in my mid 30s going Okay, let's figure all of this out and figure out where I'm going and what I'm doing with this. It was really.

Speaker 4:

I woke up in the middle of the night one night having a full on panic attack, going this is not my life, this is not who I'm supposed to be, and I said, okay, universe, then what? And the answer that came through was Reiki and I said, oh heck, no, see this theme of me saying no to Reiki. I said no, no, no, no, not, not, not me not. Reiki Reiki is great, but not me, right, reiki Reiki. I'm like no. And I said, okay, universe, it's going to be really easy to figure this out if this is truly what I'm supposed to do. And I took my level one certification class five days later.

Speaker 2:

Wow, beautiful, beautiful. And how wonderful is it that at 13, you continued. I mean, you could have just had that one and done experience, but you continue through high school and in college that you just kept on the journey, you didn't give up. You're like, nope, I'm keeping forward, and then it just circles back around in your life again. How beautiful is that, wonderful, I love that. So, when it is time for you to get the Reiki tune up or check up or maybe you're looking at some of the past Reiki practitioners that you have what are some of the qualities that you look for in a Reiki practitioner?

Speaker 4:

So I am very empathic, so I'm very picky about who works on me. So I think one of the most important things is finding somebody that you're truly comfortable being around, that literally that basic self, inner, child, physical body feels safe and comfortable and relaxed around them and in their space and their environment. I also look for someone who has similar spiritual beliefs to me. It doesn't necessarily have to be exactly the same, but I don't necessarily want someone who's going to try to tell me everything they think they know about every past life that I've had. I want someone who wants to work with me kind of in the here and now and what's going on. And I want someone who's going to be kind of blunt and honest with me, because sometimes we need somebody who's willing to say the hard things. You know, hey, michelle, you need to take care of yourself, you need to work on your boundaries, because I can sense you're not doing a good job of that right now. Sometimes we need that kind of level of honesty.

Speaker 2:

Wonderful, wonderful. So you've been doing this for quite some time. What advice would you give someone who's just entering this profession?

Speaker 4:

Take care of yourself so you can take care of others. That's like number one on the list right. Aside from that, I would say, big things are. Think carefully about how you're structuring your business. What hours are you going to work? What days do you want to work? How much time do you want to give yourself between sessions so that either that person who's really having a breakthrough has that extra time to kind of finish integrating everything from the session, or so that after a heavy session you have time to work on your own clearing?

Speaker 4:

those kinds of things.

Speaker 2:

Oh, that's important too yeah.

Speaker 4:

I would also suggest get out in front of people, go do markets, go do business, networking events, because doing those things forces you to learn how to talk about your profession. That's kind of one of the hardest things is figuring out. Well, how do I explain about chakras and universal life force, energy, and make this relatable to business people? And you know teachers and nurses and stay at home moms who've never heard anything about this. So the more you can get yourself in front of people and start talking about what you do and why you do it, the easier it's going to get.

Speaker 2:

Absolutely, and that really expands your territory. Getting out there and just talking to that curious person and they're like they can't even pronounce it, right. What is this Ricky stuff here? Right, and then that opens the door of the conversation, right, yeah absolutely.

Speaker 4:

I have people who've seen me for years who still can't spell it right or pronounce it right, and that's okay. They love it and they believe in it, and that's what matters.

Speaker 2:

Absolutely All right, and so I feel that this is a really important. Next question what books do you recommend?

Speaker 4:

Oh, my goodness, so so many. How much time do we have? We could spend the whole session just talking about that. So big things that I always recommend for my clients the four agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz, because so much of our suffering is our own creation, right? So this is kind of like that first initial eye opener for them of hey, what am I doing to myself with my belief patterns? I like to follow that one up, of course, with the Mastery of Love, also by Don Miguel Ruiz. Anything at all. By Louise Hay.

Speaker 4:

The big one I typically recommend to my clients is you Can Heal your Life. But for practitioners I really like her little Heal your Body book, because this one is fantastic If you're not familiar with it. It gives you all kinds of physical ailments and then she looks at what's the mental and emotional cause behind those and what's an affirmation you can use to start reprogramming the subconscious to clear that. Another book that I highly recommend is Essence into Form, the Magic and Power of the Triangle of Manifestation. This is a great one for looking at how do we get our thoughts and emotions and what we're doing out here in the physical world in alignment to really manifest what it is that we're wanting to create in life. And last but certainly not least, I like to recommend the Spiritual Warrior by John Roger, who's the founder of my school for my master's and doctorate program. Roger, who's the founder of my school for my master's and doctorate program, so talks a lot about how we can live as as spiritual warriors and spiritual beings.

Speaker 2:

Wonderful, wonderful. I have to write a few of these down, thank you. Thank you for sharing that. Our next question as you had mentioned a little earlier and it was in your bio that I read what are some of the other modalities that you offer?

Speaker 4:

Yes. So I started with Reiki. That is my bread and butter. I will love it forever and do it forever.

Speaker 4:

But you know, sometimes you get the itch and you want to go out and find some other things to learn. And a few things, just kind of you know, fell in my path, one being heart math, which you can go to heartmathcom and look that up. It is a combination of technology and techniques that really looks at harnessing the power of the heart to help regulate what's going on in the mind and the rest of the body. So we look at how we're breathing and where we're placing our focus while we're breathing to help calm our heart's rhythm, so that we calm down the rest of the nervous system in the body. I also do access bars, which is an acupressure treatment on the head. So much like reflexology works on the feet and you push on pressure points on the feet to affect different parts of the body. With access bars we're pressing pressure points on the head to affect what's going on in the mind. I like to equate it with okay, we take the phone and we close all the open apps and we do the software update and we reboot it and then it works better. That's what we're trying to do with the mind.

Speaker 4:

I also learned access energetic facelift, which is it's almost like a concentrated Reiki treatment that's all on the face. It's great for jaw problems, sinus problems, reversing the signs of aging over time, helps get rid of those fine lines and crow's feet wrinkles, even helps with facial paralysis. But really what I love it for is it makes people feel so nurtured and loved and supported. It's like you're a baby that's been swaddled and just rocked for an hour. And I also do things like ear candling. I have a foot oil treatment. I also offer just straight up spiritual guidance for people who are looking to start a spiritual practice and don't really know how to start. Or it's like, okay, I'm stuck in my manifesting, help me get unstuck, and actually I am getting ready to do my sound healing certification class as well. So that will be the newest, latest and greatest addition beautiful.

Speaker 2:

Congrats on that Wonderful Adding more flavor to El Paso right. Absolutely Love it. So where can our listeners find you? How do they get in touch with you? Do you offer online, in person? Let us know.

Speaker 4:

Absolutely so. I do offer in person here in my office in El Paso, texas. If you're not in El Paso, that's totally okay. I also do virtual appointments, preferably over Zoom. But if you can't do Zoom, we can find another option that works for you, and you can contact me either through my website, which is wwwintuitivewellnessepcom. You can call or text me at 915-258-8116. Or you can email me at michelle at intuitivewellnessepcom, or you can also find me on Facebook and Instagram.

Speaker 2:

Michelle, so much for answering the questions. So this ends our part of the journey and I'm going to pass you over to my co guide, millie Pampina, who has three social media questions for you. So thank you so much.

Speaker 3:

All right, millie. Thank you so much, michelle. It's great to meet you. Tracy had mentioned meeting you a long time ago at her first, I guess, event there, and I was just so impressed to hear about your use of the gravity chair and how you were working there. So I really appreciate meeting you and I also love some of your answers. Self-care first. Isn't that the truth that we just don't consider? If you're not present, if you're not there, everything that you, you think you're, you're running in charge of and helping with, isn't going to happen. So you know, keep yourself strong. I love it. I love it, I love it. I'm so happy to hear that being promoted. So we have our three social media questions. Tracy receives the questions into our website and she boils them down for us. So the first one I have for you is which spiritual principles steer your work?

Speaker 4:

Oh boy, like I said, we could do just the whole 45 minutes just on that question, right? So I'll try to boil it down Really again. I've said it and I'll say it again because we got to hear things a lot of times, right To get through that gray matter take care of yourself so you can take care of others. Don't hurt yourself and don't hurt others. Use everything for your advancement, your upliftment, your expansion. And I believe it's Eckhart Tolle who says suffering is only necessary until it isn't. So I view a lot of what I'm doing is not so much that I'm healing people, but really that I am trying to help open people's eyes to how they've been creating their own suffering and how they can make a different choice and choose to create a different reality for themselves. I also I'm a believer in Ho'oponopono and that we, we create all of it. I did certify in Ho'oponopono as well this past year. I forgot that one but everything.

Speaker 4:

Every person who walks into my office, every person I meet with on Zoom, there is something in me that helped create what brought them into my presence. So I need to work on healing what's in me, first and foremost. Every person I work with is an opportunity to look at okay, where are those unhealed spots in me still that I need to work on? And, at the end of the day, what we're really working with is is love. That's that's what this energy is right. It's love. We're all divine beings created from love, and there is no separation between me and anyone that I'm working with. We're all one in the same. We're all one in that divine energy.

Speaker 3:

Beautiful. I love Holoponopono. I am a practitioner and I just absolutely the first time I even heard of that a few years back. I was intrigued. So, wow, that's a great story. So thank you. So our second question today is what is the?

Speaker 4:

most rewarding part of your passion. Oh, my goodness. You know, every day I come in and even when it's oh, I'm tired, oh, I don't want to get in here, and you get in the session and you feel that energy moving and it's like, oh my God, I love what I do. This is so amazing. How can everyone not want to do this and experience this and just feel the way this shifts and feel that love come through, the way this shifts and feel that love come through?

Speaker 4:

But absolutely, it's really great then to see changes in people after you've worked on them. You know they come in with the frown and you know the pinched forehead and just this kind of dull look and then they get up off the table at the end of the session and they're smiling and they're glowing and you can see and you know things have shifted for them. But of course, the ego, too, likes to hear them actually say it right. So gotta, gotta, stay humble and remind yourself okay, ah, it's not my energy, I'm not doing the work, spirit's doing the work through me, but I'm blessed to be the conduit and to get to feel it and experience it and see the results in people.

Speaker 3:

That's wonderful and I love your idea of the Reiki, the energetic facial, the Reiki facial. I always feel that even I get a facial when I'm delivering Reiki, because I feel so much more relaxed and so much I feel like I glow.

Speaker 4:

People ask me all the time they're like you look like you're aging backwards. What do you do? I'm like well, I use good makeup and good skincare products, but I meditate an hour to two a day and I do energy work. So that's the secret, right?

Speaker 3:

Yes, well, you do look wonderful. So thank you for bringing that up, because I just absolutely love the idea. I use that phrase all the time. Here comes your Reiki facial. So we're going to relax you so much You're not even going to recognize yourself when you're done. You know, instead of trying to fight all the you know what I consider to be not misconceptions, but possibly perception out there about what we do, I like to, I like to know that some of the results are really, really accurate and they could at least take that part of it with them. So great. Well, thank you so much. And number three, I have um, where I love this question have you ever felt like giving up and taking another route? What keeps you motivated, to keep you on this journey?

Speaker 4:

That's an intense question. I'm glad we saved that one for last, right? So have I ever thought about giving up? I would say no. Have there been times in the five and a half years that I've been on this journey that I've said why and how am I going to keep going forward? Said why and how am I going to keep going forward? Yes, absolutely. Let's face it.

Speaker 4:

We went through a pandemic. I was shut down for two months, around the time that my business was really finally starting to get some momentum and pick up, and that was terrifying of what's going to happen. Are these people going to come back? How am I going to get new people? How am I going to get out there when the world is shut down and get in front of people? But I said, okay, spirit led me to it, spirit's going to keep me going through it.

Speaker 4:

And sure enough, like as soon as the shutdown was over, people were booking before I was even ready to, you know, go back and be back in the office and start working. I have people trying to schedule. So I'm like, okay, we're okay, it's a service-based business and industry, right? So there's always ups and downs and highs and lows, and busy times and slower times. But I try to say, okay, the universe is giving me a break and giving me some downtime right now for a reason. So I'm going to do my best to take advantage of these slow times so that that way I have the stamina to get through the busier times.

Speaker 4:

But that doesn't mean there's not a little bit of doubt that sneaks into Right OK, is business going to pick back up? And that's when I try to, you know, go to a market, do an event energetically, put myself out there saying, okay, world, here I am, I'm ready to receive more clients. And, sure enough, even if I don't get clients from the specific event that I'm at, the Google gods smile on me and all of a sudden, people start finding me on google and start booking appointments that way. So it all works out, and I think that's that's because my intention has always been I am, you know, here and available for the people who are in alignment with my highest good and are ready to receive what I have to offer. But I have to remind myself of that. When those doubts creep in, right Affirmations are key.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, every day, every day.

Speaker 4:

So and I've also said Okay, you know, I'm going to do this until spirit tells me there's something else I'm supposed to be doing, since this truly was a calling from spirit, in my opinion, that this was what I was supposed to do. And until spirit tells me otherwise, I'm going to do my best to keep doing it, to the best of my ability.

Speaker 3:

That's wonderful. So I'm so enlightened and honestly, it's giving me some motivation here right now too, with the winter, winter doldrums here in the east, because I'm over here in pittsburgh and we just went through our first big blast and, um, you know, I'm looking forward to somewhat more temperate weather right now so I can be outside more and enjoy, enjoy the, the fresher air. So thank you so much for all that beautiful feedback and insight and it's, you know, so motivational and it's an honor to meet you. Is there anything else, michelle, while you've been talking, that you might want to add or you might've remembered and want to bring up now before we close?

Speaker 4:

Well, I do offer an initial consultation. It's a 30 minute appointment that you can do in person or on zoom for those people who are like you know, michelle, you seem cool, it sounds kind of interesting, but I'm really. I just don't know if it's, if it's for me. So it's an opportunity to talk with me one-on-one, get to experience a little Reiki or one of the other modalities that I offer, to see if it feels like it's going to be a good fit. And if you're like, hey, michelle, you do offer a lot, I don't know what I want, come on in, we talk and I make my best recommendations for you. I believe this is always a conversation that you know let's let's find what's working for you, let's find what's not, and let's tailor your treatments and your sessions with me so that we get the most out of them.

Speaker 3:

For you Right. Well, that goes back to your, your idea of you know you want to have comfort with your practitioner.

Speaker 4:

Absolutely, and I think one of the hardest things for me to learn in the beginning, when you're hungry for work and you just want to work with everybody, right, I had to learn not everybody had to be my client and I wasn't necessarily the right practitioner for everyone. So that would be one last, I guess parting note for those future Reiki practitioners out there it's okay if not everybody's your client.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, yeah, absolutely. That's a great feedback, because sometimes we hit and sometimes I don't want to say we miss, but it's just not a good fit and yeah, that's great.

Speaker 4:

One other thing I uh do offer reiki classes. I am a certified reiki master teacher. I do those privately, on an individual basis. Be it's kind of an independent study, one-on-one situation when you take a class with me, because I want it to be the experience that that student needs. Typically I don't promote them, but Spirit said go ahead and mention it. So if that's something that interests you or you have questions, you can reach out to me and we can talk about setting up a class for you me and we can talk about setting up a class for you.

Speaker 3:

Well, thank you so much. I appreciate that and anything else. However, if you do or they do have questions, we, you know, we have your information out there as to how people can get in touch with you, and best wishes and good luck out there. I know you're going to, you know you're doing these public events and you know you're really bringing it to folks as to what the value is, and I thank you so much for that. So, with that in mind, I'm going to wrap up now with my little tagline, which is I see beauty in all things as a choice. Please choose wisely. And I am, millie Pampina, your co-guide on this journey, and I'm going to turn it back over to Tracy Seawright. Thank you, tracy, thank you.

Speaker 2:

Thank you, millie, thank you, michelle, for joining us today. I really appreciate it. So, to go along with your self-care, I thought we would just take a moment for our listeners and for all of us here as we place our hands in goshiho. So our curious beginner, if you don't know what goshiho is, it's that prayer position, two hands at the heart center, and we're going to bring this kind of intention. That is what fuels the Reiki, the energy work here is what you're putting out into this and this is something that William Rand always says, and he asks that guide me and heal me, that I am of greater service to myself and others. And as we put this intention for ourselves and for those that we are out there serving because our cup needing to be filled is just as important as our clients and our students, so we're going to put that out there into the universe so that is carried with us. And as we bring our intention back into this time.
