Ready Set Reiki is a journey
From the curious beginner to the Season Master Teacher
All Energy workers of all systems and all levels.

Speaker 2:

This is Ready Set Reiki, a podcast about Reiki, from the curious beginner to the seasoned master teacher, welcoming all systems, all lineages and all levels. Reiki is a journey, not a destination, and on this Ready Set Reiki journey, we refer to ourselves as guides rather than hosts, as we too are traveling, supporting each other and learning on this Reiki journey as well. And with that said, I am your first guide, tracy Seawright, and I'm your second guide, millie Pampina. And today, what an honor it is to have our guest. So I am here in El Paso, texas, in the 915 area code, and it is Martha Morales Now.

Speaker 2:

She has been practicing Reiki since 2012 and teaching since 2016. She fell in love with it after her first Reiki session. It erased any doubts and she realized it can be an excellent tool to help. In addition to Reiki, she also reads tarot and she does cleansings. She has always been crafty and enjoys making jewelry, not only for, but for others and to sell it. She is an ordained Buddhist teaching priest and she became that in 2018. Thank you so much, martha, and welcome to Ready Set Reiki.

Speaker 4:

Thank you for inviting me. I'm glad to be here.

Speaker 2:

Wonderful, wonderful. So I gave our listeners just a little taste of who you are. So tell us about yourself.

Speaker 4:

I love your intro where you say it's a journey, because it really is. And in this spiritual journey I found Reiki and it's actually what took me to explore more and more about spirituality, about myself. When I got my first session, to my surprise, I was making time, to be honest with you. I didn't know what Reiki was. I was making time for other things and I thought I'm going to go to that lady she doesn't look too busy and to my surprise, she told me exactly what was happening to me and I felt it. And I always think that when you experience something firsthand, that's the best way to discern what is true and what isn't. And I felt it. I'm curious by nature, so I decided I need to find out what this is. I need to know more. Can anybody do it? Where can I read more or learn more about this? And this is how I got started with Reiki Beautiful.

Speaker 4:

And it's been nonstop, because the more you do it, the more you learn.

Speaker 2:

It doesn't stop Wonderful and it is a journey. That's for sure it is. It really is. So from your journey, would you say that Reiki found you or you found Reiki.

Speaker 4:

I think it's a little bit of both. I think it's a little bit of both. I think you know that phrase that when the student is ready, a teacher will appear. And this is interesting because my Reiki teacher told me, when you are ready to teach, people will start asking you to teach. And when I was ready to learn, I found the perfect Reiki teacher for me. So I think it's both ways.

Speaker 2:

You know those two lines have to be open in order for both to meet at the right place at the right time Wonderful, and I know with my students when I teach them and they have people coming when are you going to teach, when are you ready? And I'm like, but I'm not ready, but I'm like you know what they're showing up, You're showing up the universe is telling you you're ready, very good point, so you have been teaching since 2016. What are some of the common misperceptions that you are finding about your work?

Speaker 4:

misperceptions that you are finding about your work, oh, my goodness Okay. So a lot of times when I have clients for the very first time, they will tell me things like I don't know if this, you know, like I'm kind of like not telling my family. I'm here, I don't know if I should be doing this because of my faith, blah, blah, blah. And I always put them at ease because this is spiritual but it's not affiliated with any specific religion. You can continue with your religious practices or not religious practices. It is independent of it and and it allows you to to practice, continue practice your religion. So I find that a lot of times, the first time, people are a little bit fearful. There's a lot of misconceptions out there, you know. Oh, they're doing some sort of nasty magic or they're going to, you know, interfere with your life in a bad way. You really should not be knocking on that door. It's a portal for worse things to come.

Speaker 4:

You know, I've heard so many, so many things. So I always try to dispel those misconceptions the very first time and then tell them a little bit what to expect during the session. You know, of course it's different for everybody because it depends on what they're going through at that moment in time. But I haven't met anyone yet that leaves the Reiki session feeling worse than when they came in. You know, it's just the opposite. So they live with a sense of calm, of, you know, just feeling so open and so much better. And I think that's what I mean when I say when you experience it, that's when you know that it can do something for you.

Speaker 2:

Very good and that's one of the reasons you know why we've had this podcast because there's so many misperceptions out there that it's preventing people from even trying. They don't want to take that next step because of those misperceptions. So thank you for sharing that, especially saying that you know when people leave a session, they're not worse, they you know you found you. You know better than you were before, so thank you for sharing that. So, as you are out working with clients, as you were teaching what has been the biggest challenge that you have faced in your profession?

Speaker 4:

biggest challenge that you have faced in your profession.

Speaker 4:

I think that people expect one Reiki session or a few Reiki sessions to fix their lives, and I always have to tell them, just like life is a process, reiki may give you a few keys in that process, but you need to be patient.

Speaker 4:

What went wrong in 20 years can be fixed in a few sessions. Be patient with yourself and also understand that the practitioner is a conduit. The practitioner is a conduit, but you have to also do your part here. You know, and it will open the door for you to understand a few things that you can work on, and then you'll understand when you need to get the next session. So it's an empowering thing because you're not leaving it up to somebody else. You start to get understandings that make you take this or that direction and in doing that in trying things out for yourself and learning the next thing or, you know, getting familiar with different things you become more and more empowered. So that's one of the most positive things about Reiki and one of the things that I I let people know. You know it's not going to fix your life right away, but it will give you understandings on the next steps.

Speaker 2:

that you can take Absolutely that. It's cumulative. Often people were this one and done society right, like instant, you know happening now. We went yesterday right.

Speaker 4:

Right, yes, yes, I click a button and I'm there. No, no, no.

Speaker 2:

Absolutely Right. It takes time, right, as you said. You know you're having years of baggage and trauma and things. You know Rome wasn't built in a day, right? So, exactly, exactly so. As you're out there working with those clients being of service, what do you wish your younger self knew about this current profession that you're in?

Speaker 4:

service. What do you wish your younger self knew about this current profession that you're in? You know, when I started learning Reiki, practicing Reiki, I used to tell myself I wish I had found this sooner, because I actually was older when when I found Reiki. But I think you do find things when you are ready, at the right time. So if anything I wish you know, in hindsight I knew that you find the right keys when you're ready. Sometimes you just have to get so tired, so frustrated or be so much in pain to get to that next step. And so, yeah, be patient. Be patient and follow your intuition. I think that's a huge thing. I think that's a huge thing.

Speaker 4:

When I decided to study Reiki, I basically was following my intuition. I didn't know back then yet why I wanted to do this, but it felt right inside. It felt like I have to do this. I don't know why this, I don't know why, and sure enough, little by little it, you know, brings more and more gifts into your life. So that you know, maybe, if I had known that, but you know, even if you don't know at the time, what you're doing. Follow your intuition. That's a huge, huge thing. Um, this is not like reading a book. This is inner work, inner understanding and intuition is going to be your guiding light here very good, very good.

Speaker 2:

So our next question is when it's time for you to get that energetic tune-up, what are some qualities that you look for in a Reiki practitioner?

Speaker 4:

Definitely I have to feel that they're doing it from the heart. This is, again, not something that you know. I know how to do it. I know the steps one, two, three, four, bye. No.

Speaker 4:

Connecting with that person, connecting with their soul from the heart, is going to be the biggest thing here. So that's what I look for myself and that's what I try to offer when I give Reiki. People suffer a lot, you know, and you can't always put yourself in their shoes if you haven't walked in those shoes. But if you do it from the heart, things get where they need to get and you need to have that compassion for what they're going through. And so it's not like doing a little dance where you learn the steps. No, it's, and Ricky can become very intuitive, it does after a while. You know like, okay, I was feeling this, but now I'm feeling a connection with this other thing and this is why you never stop learning. So, but it always has to be done from the heart.

Speaker 2:

Beautiful, beautiful. Thank you for sharing that. So what advice would you give someone who is just entering this profession? So what advice would you give someone?

Speaker 4:

who is just entering this profession. You know, if you're doing it with enthusiasm and if you're doing it from the heart, trust that not only will you be helping others, but in helping others you will grow. Yeah, and you, as you help others, heal, you will heal. It's a two-way street and that's why that connection is so, so important wonderful, wonderful.

Speaker 2:

So what books do you recommend?

Speaker 4:

I actually um the very first books that I read on Reiki were well, at the time when I finished my Reiki mastership, my teacher had written one book and I've used it so much and I've gone back to it so much that it's all frayed and I had to put tape on the cover so that it holds its shape and it's called the esoteric essence of chakras and it's written by Suki Devi. It's on Amazon and I would say that's my number one book. And then she wrote another one called Mahananda Reiki, and Mahananda Reiki is basically traditional Reiki plus other spiritual classes that can be applied to a Reiki session, and those two are my main go-to books other books now that I'm teaching because I want to give a comprehensive set of tools to my students, so I go into other books, but I would say still I keep going back to those two and they're so complete that almost any question I have I can find the answers to those questions there, both on Amazon.

Speaker 2:

Good, thank you. Thank you so much for sharing that. That's wonderful. I'll have to put that in the Amazon cart for sure, wonderful. So what other modalities do you offer? I shared a little bit in the beginning with your intro but tell us, what do you offer?

Speaker 4:

Okay, so, as far as healing sessions, I have another modality that I work with, which is called reconnected healing, and this I learned, I want to say, maybe in 2016 is when I got my certification on that it has some similarities with Reiki.

Speaker 4:

It doesn't work with the chakras per se, but at the end of the session I have noticed that chakras end up being balanced. It's very intuitive. It's basically a series of hand movements that guide you to this session, and it's almost like feeling the pull of the energy and where you need to go with your hands and how you need to place your hands. It's also something that can be done long distance, just like, you know, any healing energy session, and I also recently, last year, certified in access bars and I'm still, I would say, practicing with access bars and, um, I'm still, I would say, practicing with access bars but uh, reiki, as far as healing sessions go, I think uh has my heart, you know.

Speaker 4:

Uh, maybe because I feel you know that I have more of a mastery in Reiki and you know I have more tools when it comes to Reiki, but I really do love Reiki. And then, as you mentioned in the beginning, I also do readings. I do readings with tarot cards and I do readings with gemstones, which is basically like a tarot card reading, but it's done with gemstones, and I use a board where people shake and cast the stones on the board. So it's kind of like a mix of tarot and runes a little bit. And I also do cleansings a little bit. And I also do cleansings, personal cleansings, with an egg. I used to do space cleansings, I don't anymore, but I still do that personal cleansings.

Speaker 4:

And I've always been very, very crafty. I've always. You know, I took a lot of art classes at community college, just for myself, for my own satisfaction, because I love art and like, I'm not very good at drawing or painting, but I think I'm actually quite good, I do have an eye for color and design. So I coincidentally or not coincidentally had learned to make jewelry about 23 years ago. And then, when I started getting into all this, I was like, wait a minute, I think I can do jewelry and somehow incorporate all of this into my practice. So, yes, I make jewelry with natural elements, and for myself and for others I sell it to.

Speaker 4:

I'm also a Reiki teacher, you know. I have been teaching for a while now and I love it. I love it. I. I always freaked out at the beginning of the year because I still think you know well, how is this year going to go? How many classes am I going to set up? There was a year when I did so many certifications that I found that I do have an energetic limit, or at least I knew what my limit was that day. Okay, and so I also have to play it by ear. Because of that, I don't want to be so exhausted that I'm not going to give my best here.

Speaker 4:

So I usually wait for people to find me and they usually find me through my website or word of mouth. And then I set up a group and I've been doing two level one certifications per year, one level two for those that want to move on to level two, and then one level three for those that want to move on to level three.

Speaker 4:

Move on to level two and then one level three for those that want to move on to level three. That crazy year when I did a lot of them, I actually ended up doing 10, 10 certifications and two of those one of those was in a, in a, a foster home, and the other one was in a massage place. So, uh, yeah, I was very, very busy that year and it was very exciting, but then towards the end I found that I was, you know, draining myself a little bit and I don't want to compromise the quality of my teaching, so you know, I play it by ear.

Speaker 2:

Very good. So where can someone find you if they want to get in touch with you? Do you do online? Do you do in person? How do they get in touch with you?

Speaker 4:

I do have a website is Reiki and spiritual toolscom. That's the name of my business, reiki and Spiritual Tools. My phone number is 915-253-5018. I find that it's better for myself to do the bookings when people message me, either through the website or through my phone or through email. My email is reikianspiritualtools at gmailcom. I don't like to put an appointment set up in the website because my sessions are very flexible. A 45-minute session for myself can last anywhere from one hour to two hours and it depends on how much I feel I need to share with a person and how many questions they have. So I don't want to run into a situation where I'm going to be overlapping my bookings. So, especially if it's a first timer, I do like to give them, and give myself, a little bit of a cushion there.

Speaker 2:

All right, very good, thank you. Well, this ends our session together, our journey together, and I'm going to pass you over to my co guide, millie Pampina, who has three social media questions for you. So, thank you, martha. So much, here we go. It's up to you now, millie. Thank you, tracy.

Speaker 3:

Thank you, tracy. Thank you, Martha. I was just so engaged in listening to your journey. You did such a beautiful job of you know, laying out your timeline and things that you, that you've been doing, things that you've done and you know. I really appreciate that you shared that with us. You know a lot of the things. I just am always curious because it just seems like we're all, we all face this very similar. I don't want to call it challenges, I want to call it, you know, opportunities, as we're heading along our journey. And I just recently was certified in the access bars and I still said all the way out the door I love this, but I'm going to have to stay with my first. I love this, but I'm going to have to stay with my first. I'm going to primarily be staying with my first lover. Figure out a way to bring, bring them together, which is Reiki.

Speaker 4:

So I'm glad to hear I wasn't a rebel out there on that one no, and actually I have to tell you that the access bar stations I've given, I just feel I have to unlock the chakras before I move on to the access. So reiki is my my first love and probably will always be my main love when it comes to healing sessions I.

Speaker 3:

You know it's funny. You said that because I was describing it to one of my you know fellow Reiki practitioners and I said I'm going to have to begin every session with a chakra balancing because there's so much engaged there. And I explained to them. I said the chakra are not necessarily in the Reiki piece, the chakra are not necessarily in the Reiki piece, but I find that the Reiki gives me the best balance, the most insight. You know, it's very intuitive for me and I would be using that as well. So thank you for validating that, because that's the first thing that came up was I said no, I think this would work better with a good chakra balancing.

Speaker 4:

Right, I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that.

Speaker 3:

No, no, because they do call on various, you know, as you're working through it, and I said well, if they're not kind of cooperating with us, so I will. I'll have to report into you and pick your brain a little bit as to how that's going. So thank you for sharing.

Speaker 4:

You're welcome.

Speaker 3:

So we have our three social media questions and thank you so much to our listening audience and our viewing audience and those who are following us on Facebook and our websites. But we get multiple questions in for each everybody who is going to be participating in the podcast. Tracy takes those questions and she goes through them all and picks out the three top ones, three most reliable and appropriate ones there. So the first one I have for you is what is the most important thing that Reiki has taught you?

Speaker 4:

Oh, my goodness, I think it has taught me that inner work is so important to understanding other aspects of spirituality. As I work on other people with Reiki and give myself Reiki, I find the areas where I need to pay attention and I tell where I need to pay attention and I tell, you know, my clients also pay attention to this work on this. Observe this thing Of course, the more inner work you do on yourself, the better things flow through the conduit which is the practitioner into the recipient, the conduit which is the practitioner into the recipient. So it's very, very important to constantly stay on top of that inner work and, you know, work on the things that we need to work on so that you deliver a more and more efficient session every time.

Speaker 4:

You know you can't be full of anger, you can't be full of hatred, you can't be full of envy and expect that when somebody walks in the door, you know, be all love and peace when you deliver a Reiki session. It's not congruent, you know. So it's very, very important to do that and I'm always doing self-observation to see, okay, what is it that I need to work on. Doing self-observation to see, okay, what is it that I need to work on. What is it that this Reiki session I gave myself or gave somebody else? Let me know about myself so that I can go there and find out what is going on.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, isn't that the beauty of delivering Reiki is you get. You get the benefits also during the session for yourself, and I just you know that's one of the things I look so much forward to every time. It's like I feel like I'm getting an opportunity not only to you know, deliver the message and to you know, pass through the healing energy. I'm also getting the opportunity to work on myself, and that's beautiful. Thank you, thank you so much. So our second question is what Reiki principle steers your work?

Speaker 4:

Okay, stay in the present moment. And it's hard, it's hard, but uh, you know we're always anxious thinking of the future or, uh, in regret, thinking about the past and staying in the present moment just for today. You know, to me is probably the main Reiki principle. In the now, there is no regret, there is no anxiety, there is nothing but calmness, there is nothing but calmness. And at least during the time that I'm giving a session, I'm trying to be in the now and I try to do it as much as possible.

Speaker 4:

You know, in my life, you know, I used to suffer from insomnia for many, many years and anxiety as well, many, many years, and anxiety as well. And once I started doing this, uh, I understood where those things were coming from. And then, as I started teaching and I started reviewing the reiki principles and I'm like, okay, then now, that now is the. We're always behind or ahead of the now, but being in the now really is where all possibilities lie, where all possible outcomes lie and where you can actually make a difference. You can't do it in the future because you're not there yet. You can do it in the past because you're not there anymore. It's in the now. So that is probably the main principle for me.

Speaker 3:

Wonderful. Thank you so much. It was really, really inspiring. So I hope our audience really takes that to heart, because you know our daily principles just for today. So that's the one you have, that's when you have a hold of. So thank you, thank you, thank you. And our third question is how do you respond to people who are skeptical of your work?

Speaker 4:

Definitely. How do you respond to people who are skeptical of your work? Definitely not in a defensive way, because from my own experience I know that I don't have to explain anything that they're not ready to hear. If they ask or they try to bring skepticism, I just tell them well, experience is always the best way to find out the truth of things. If you haven't experienced it, it's a little bit more difficult. So, but it's fine. I mean, people have to follow their own journey, and if their own journey at the moment is to be skeptical, that's fine.

Speaker 4:

This is not about believing. This is about experiencing. If you're going to follow every belief out there, then you're lost. You have to be in yourself, knowing that you want to try something new and open that door. Skepticism is fine, because you're not following everything out there, but also you have to have a little bit of an open mind and leave that door ajar a little bit so that you're able to try new things, because not believing is just another belief, and that's why beliefs are not going to be what guides you on this Reiki or this spiritual journey. It really is a matter of trusting your intuition, following it, doing the work that needs to be done and experiences will come that will let you know what something is true. Or maybe you just haven't experienced it yet, but once you experience something, then that's when you're like yeah. I know that's true.

Speaker 4:

I know that one is true.

Speaker 3:

That's so beautifully put. I just love that about experiencing, not delivering, not believing Sorry, really, I mean it just makes a whole lot of sense to bring them to it, and if they haven't experienced it, how can you say that it's not functional, it's not working for you, so right, but you know everybody's on their own journey.

Speaker 3:

So yeah, you know that's fine when the time is right that's exactly I have, um, you know I have run across that all the time in in my journey and you know you, just like I said, you have respect, you, you know you share respect. You have respect for for others, of thoughts and feelings about things, and and sometimes they try it and they get absolutely involved, and other times they try and say I don't need it and it's fine, it's fine and also, to be honest with you, I used to be one of those very skeptical people.

Speaker 4:

I have a science background. You know that's my background, and so intuition is not science 101, you know Science is something that can measure things and so you can imagine, you know, having that kind of background and just not. When I started on this, not having really experienced much of these things, I was very, very skeptical. I always thought it was a bunch of nonsense until I realized wait a minute, isn't this another belief as well? And I criticize beliefs, so isn't this just? Another one.

Speaker 4:

Maybe I need to start deconstructing a few things and see what comes from that, and that's the best thing I've ever done.

Speaker 3:

Great advice. Thank you so much, and thank you for sharing your experiences there with that as well, and how you, how you. You know how you, how you pressed yourself forward. So thank you, thank you, thank you. Okay, so that ends my three social media questions for you, but right now, uh, martha, I'd like to ask you is there anything else that you may want to add, or that you forgot or embellish, or you know what can we help you out with there? I know, as we speak, things fly by and you may have had an opportunity to come up with some more words of wisdom or some more things about you and your business.

Speaker 4:

Yes, actually, spiritual guidance is one of the things that I love to do and I have that on my website as well. You know, a lot of times people just call me because they don't know how to proceed next. They're a little lost, they have a lot of questions. I always welcome that and it's very fulfilling for me to, you know, help people out with that, you know, to open that little door, that door a little bit, like I said before. So that's one of the things that I absolutely love to do. Like I said, they can contact me through my website, reiki and Spiritual Tools dot com. My email is Reiki andpiritualtools at gmailcom and my number is 915-253-5018. I'm going to be doing a level one certification on March 23rd, which is a Saturday, and I haven't announced it yet. I usually wait till a month before the class to announce it, but I will be doing that very soon. Then just go from there, okay.

Speaker 3:
