Ready Set Reiki is a journey
From the curious beginner to the Season Master Teacher
All Energy workers of all systems and all levels.

Speaker 2:

This is Ready Set Reiki, a podcast about Reiki, the universal energy life force, from the curious beginner to the seasoned master teacher, welcoming all systems, all lineages and all levels. Reiki is a journey and not a destination, and on this Ready Set Reiki journey, we refer to ourselves as guides rather than hosts, as we two are traveling, supporting each other and learning on this Reiki journey as well. And, with that said, I am your guide, tracy Seawright, and joining me on my journey today is Jules Davis. Now, jules Davis is very important to me because she was a part of my journey when I went and retook my Holy Fire Reiki class, so I was very fortunate enough to take level one and two with her. But let me tell you a little bit about her.

Speaker 2:

She is a highly qualified and experienced professional psychic medium, azui and Corona Reiki master, icrt, animal Reiki master master, crystal healer, sound healer, medical intuitive, animal communicator, spiritual teacher and owner of Arlux in Los Angeles. Now, education, training and development are extremely important to her. She has trained for thousands of hours in her respective fields and has completed multiple multi-year mentorship programs, so she has these psychic and medium abilities that have been evident ever since she was a very young child. Now she has trained extensively with highly regarded tutors both in the US US and in England at the esteemed college. She has been certified as a master level in 13 systems of Reiki and is one of just 40 ICRT licensed Reiki master teachers in the world.

Speaker 2:

She was one of the very first Reiki masters in Los Angeles and the world to receive the Holy Fire Reiki energy when it was introduced in 2014. She has studied with the internationally renowned Reiki master, william Lee Rand, who founded and developed the Azui, tibetan Holy Fire, azui and Corona Reiki systems. He is also the founder and director of the International Center of Reiki Training and the Reiki Membership Association, of which Jules is a licensed Holy Fire III, azuri Reiki, corona Reiki and ICRT Animal Reiki Master Teacher. Now she had to take over a thousand hours of additional training and teaching of other qualifications for this title, so her extensive training, her natural psychic ability, mediumship abilities make sessions with her a unique and powerful experience. Her desire is to go deep with you, to help heal the root of the issues so that significant healing can take place. Jules, welcome to Ready Set Reiki.

Speaker 3:

Thank you. Thank you for having me here.

Speaker 2:

Wonderful, so let's begin our journey together. So I gave our listeners a bit of information about you, but, coming from you, tell us a little bit about yourself.

Speaker 3:

Sure, well, I was born in Edmonton, alberta, canada, where I grew up for the first part of my childhood years, and I was pretty fortunate because my parents were very open-minded to a lot of different things. So we grew up going to yoga retreats and things of that nature. So spirituality has always been a part of my life and, like everything, we just have to find our own way there, you know. But my mother was a natural medium and she loved all things spiritual meaning, like the occult and things kind of outside of the box. But my dad also was quite comfortable with that stuff. He even channels and meditates every day. So there was a definite openness in my home and so I grew up with a lot of this stuff just around me and part of my life, and sometimes you kind of take that for granted because it's just there, right, right. And then in my 20s I really started to have a lot of mediumistic experiences again, where they got very loud. And then I got into a bad car accident and I decided to learn Reiki as part of my healing journey. So that's what brought me to Reiki.

Speaker 3:

But we moved to California when I was 11, turning 12 years old, and so I've been down in the States here since then, a long time ago. I'm coming up to my I don't know 30 something year anniversary this year of living in the US, and everything that I do really just comes from being spiritually led at this point in my life. So I've been working in this healing arts industry, so to speak, and practicing the healing arts now professionally for 12, no, 13 years or so, and I don't know. I just found my way here because of a lot of things that had happened for me that had been very difficult and challenging, and looking for ways to heal myself, including a big car accident I was in, where I was very physically injured and what can I do to heal here? Because the conventional methods weren't fully helping me and I was looking for ways to heal my body, and that's really how I got turned on to Reiki, so to speak.

Speaker 2:

Right. So with this Reiki, this universal energy life force, would you say that Reiki found you or you found Reiki?

Speaker 3:

I think both. Actually, you know, my mom was receiving a lot of Reiki. She was going through cancer treatments and she started receiving Reiki. And back in the early 2000s I think that's when I got introduced to it myself and one of her friends was a Reiki master and that was so impressive to me because I was like, wow, reiki master like she must really have spent years and years. I mean, you know, it's possible that she did, but just to me it was such a big title and she would give me some Reiki sessions. So that's how I first experienced Reiki.

Speaker 3:

And I think at that point Reiki was introduced to me at a time when I needed it for some emotional healing. And then later on it found me, I would say again, when I was asking for guidance spiritually how can I heal myself? And the Reiki just kept dropping in front of me and I was like I feel like I really need to do Reiki and I just knew I was going to learn it and that it was going to be part of my path for healing. I didn't know why it just was, and so I followed that and that's how I got into Reiki. Wonderful.

Speaker 2:

Now you are a certified master teacher of 13 different systems of Reiki. Do you have a specific system that you are more inclined to use than other systems?

Speaker 3:

Well, to be fair, a lot of those have just been evolutions of the Holy Fire system. So I was there from the very beginning of Holy Fire. But the very first system I learned of Reiki was Usui, tibetan Reiki, and I thought it was really cool. I could feel the heat in my hands and people would be relaxed and all of that. But something for me was missing from that system. So I went on and I took what was called traditional Japanese Usui Reiki, ryho. But it was really the teachings that came through Franz Stein and the International House of Reiki. So I studied with one of his students. She was my first teacher who I learned both of those systems from. But I knew from when I first decided to take a Reiki class that I wanted to be a Karuna Reiki master.

Speaker 3:

I didn't know why. I was just really drawn to the Karuna energy, and so I decided William Rand was coming to LA the Redondo Beach area, which is where I happen to live now, but didn't at the time and he was coming into town the following year to teach Karuna Reiki. So I was getting all of my ducks in a row, so to speak. You have to be a Reiki master for at least six months to take Karuna Reiki and all that stuff, and so I signed up for the class, which then became a Holy Fire Reiki class. So I was interested in taking it before. It was even like in 2013. And then, 2014, it became a Holy Fire Karuna Reiki class, and so I experienced Holy Fire and Karuna Reiki for the first time simultaneously, and it blew my mind. So I decided this is the Reiki and I really liked the other system of Reiki I just learned. But it just the Holy Fire was speaking to me and William was saying you know we need some more licensed teachers. Maybe you would be interested in joining us. And so I looked up what do you have to do to become a licensed teacher? And you had to have taken level one and two in Usui Master with a licensed teacher so you could be a professional member, etc. A licensed teacher so you could be a professional member, etc. I'd already been teaching Reiki for a while at that time, so that was really the only requirement that I needed.

Speaker 3:

And since I had such a powerful experience with the Holy Fire Karuna Reiki class, I decided since I hadn't learned some of the things William was showing us for Usui Reiki and I wanted to explore becoming a licensed teacher. I went and retook level one, two and master with Laurel, gaia and Michael Baird and Sedona, and that just propelled me to continue to want to explore Holy Fire. So I always say I've been on the Holy Fire train since it began in 2014. At least since we started practicing Holy Fire Reiki. We believe Holy Fire has been around since the beginning of time and I've evolved with it. So Holy Fire, then Holy Fire 2, then Holy Fire 3, then Holy Fire 3 online and in-person, then Holy Fire 3, online and in-person. World Peace Reiki is where we're at now.

Speaker 3:

And that includes Usui and then Karuna. Reiki also evolves with, you know, with those titles. So that's why there's so many different systems listed. And then ICRT, animal Reiki, came about and I quickly jumped on board because that was very intriguing to me. So that's basically the history of all the different systems that I've learned, and Holy Fire is it for me.

Speaker 2:

Holy fire. So, in learning the multiple systems, or rather the upgrades of Reiki, what is the similarity?

Speaker 3:

that they all have in common. I mean, I guess the desire to connect with universal life force energy or spiritually guided life force energy is the intention, and also obviously for whatever balancing that needs for healing. So they all have that similar intention, just different styles, a little bit of a different feeling to the energy and some different techniques as well.

Speaker 3:

Right, right. So the Holy Fire sorry to interrupt you, but Holy Fire as it's evolved. We've learned different techniques as that has progressed. So there has been still, even though it's Holy Fire, the system has changed quite significantly from the first incarnation of it.

Speaker 2:

I took Holy Fire and then having to do, you know, the three as well with the upgrades and getting the world peace and having the ignition. So yes, it definitely is, and I always tell people to stay current on it in case there is another upgrade. You know, you never know when it's coming.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, every time I'm like how can I get better? Oh, it got better. You know it's getting better yeah.

Speaker 2:

Right. So as a licensed Reiki master teacher, who your mentor was Colleen Bonelli and you're having completed over 1000 hours of training, you're out there teaching. You've been on this journey for some time, so, as you're out navigating through the landscape of Reiki, and you can also use this with your mediumship as well what is a common misconception about your work as a Reiki master teacher and medium?

Speaker 3:

Well, I think they're different, right so?

Speaker 3:

the people just imagine, you know, love and light and like I should be wearing white robes walking around on the street or something like that. I've actually, because of my look and my style, people don't always associate me with healing because I wear like black and I have tattoos and you know I look a little more different, which is totally fine with me. But I've actually had people mistake people that I was with for me because they had more of that like look. You know I'm wearing this like different kind of style, so that's been funny, but I don't think people really. I think the main misunderstanding in regards to Reiki is that some people don't believe in it, so they're kind of like I don't know about that Reiki stuff.

Speaker 3:

right, the thing with mediumship or being a psychic medium is that people are always like oh, can you feel my energy? Like what do you? What do you know about me? Like I'm just walking around, you know, trying to zap into everybody or something. So that's the thing I mean. I guess with Reiki it's also like oh, can you just give me some Reiki? Like on demand, you know wherever, can you just give me a reading on demand? And in my own self-care I need to keep my energy in when I'm out.

Speaker 3:

I don't want to be on all of the time, so I think for me, the common misconception is that everybody just assumes I'm constantly feeling their energy, yeah, and want to give them a reading or a healing, you know, on the shore?

Speaker 2:

Sure yeah. And it doesn't help the shows where, like, the medium, walks into the supermarket and then all of a sudden gets hit, or in there in the hair salon and, oh my goodness, I have to stop and interrupt. I'm so sorry, but this person came through right.

Speaker 3:

First of all, that's for a TV show. I mean it can happen, Spontaneous things can happen. You know I don't like to control the spirit world, I just like to have healthy boundaries. So sure. It's not like I'm going through the grocery store and suddenly I have your father here and he's following me around. I'm not Teresa Caputo filming a TV show, but you know there are mediums that do that kind of stuff.

Speaker 3:

So, for me, it's a violation of privacy of other people to to just be open all the time. So I don't want to be open feeling your energy, because that could be uncomfortable for both of us. You know, right, right, right.

Speaker 2:

And it's interesting what you said, the look, because it was you know, on top of your, all of your wonderful modalities that you offer and all of your experience, but it was your look to that attracted me to well. I want to work with her, I want to connect with her. I had found you on reikiorg and it was like, oh great, she does the sound bowl, so do I. And there were so many similarities that are resonated, and so just how you looked in your energy through that computer screen for me really did it. So I just love the flower in your hair and the lipstick and everything. And I watched the little clip of you. You were on a talk show that was in California and it just resonated with it. So you never know, oh yeah.

Speaker 3:

I am who I am, that's not changed.

Speaker 2:

You are, you are Very good, very good, very good.

Speaker 3:

I've had the same look since I was a teenager. Sure. I've been looking at old pictures of me and I'm like, okay, that's just me, very good, very good.

Speaker 2:

So helping out so many on their healing journey. What has been the biggest challenge or struggle that you have faced in your own healing journey?

Speaker 3:

I mean, I guess it's just how much work there is to do. You know it's like, wow, I've been working on that for a lot of years. There's still another layer to heal and I think it's finding a deep surrender and acceptance in that which, at some points, you know you're like, oh, I don't think that this was me necessarily, but as the teacher, you want to be further advanced or farther along on your healing journey. But life happens and so it's continuing to happen and I'm continuing to learn from all of the difficult, adverse adventures. I've been calling them adventures instead of challenges that I have to go through, and so I think it's just allowing for me, it's been allowing surrender and things to heal.

Speaker 3:

What is it that I need to heal? And allowing that healing to take place instead of like, oh, I have to be. You know, I wouldn't say perfect, I don't think that that's what I've. I feel like I healed that a long time ago. That was an issue of mine, you know, at one point. But it's really just allowing myself to be vulnerable and in the moment, with my students, sharing about my own stuff and my journey when that feels right, and being patient and surrendering to it. I think those have been the biggest challenges at times, right, right.

Speaker 2:

You know letting your human aspect be shown right the vulnerability, yeah. I mean, we're all going through it. You know letting your human aspect be shown right, the vulnerability, yeah.

Speaker 3:

I mean, we're all going through it, you know, maybe at different stages or capacities in this lifetime, but we're all going through something Sure.

Speaker 2:

So what do you wish your younger self? Knew about your current profession, knew about Reiki and mediumship.

Speaker 3:

I mean maybe that I just found it a little bit earlier. I mean, I was about 30 years old when I got drawn to it professionally, so that's young enough, I think, but probably could have started sooner on my journey. I had all of these abilities and I didn't really have a place for them for a long time. So I was a bartender and I worked in the music industry and I did different stuff like that and I was very I was like the most nurturing bartender I can imagine.

Speaker 3:

Everybody's like drinks and how they wanted them. This one wants a straw, this one wants two straws, this one needs extra napkins. You know, I was like always very aware of everybody's needs and taking care of them. But the energy was always really affecting me, because there's a lot of heaviness that comes with people who are hanging out in bars all the time and stuff like that, and so I would go home often with that energy not knowing how to separate it and as an empath I was like a sponge without any tools of how to have like good, healthy, energetic boundaries. So I think learning it sooner would be. You know what I would say. I wish I would have, could have. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Very good Now. You have trained extensively with highly regarded tutors, both in the US England, with William Rand as well. Colleen Benelli was your mentor. You have been around many ICRT teachers. When it's time for you to get an energetic tune up, what are some of the qualities that you look for in a Reiki practitioner?

Speaker 3:

Definitely I look at what their training and background is. I'm quite particular. It's not so much about the depth of years of experience but what kind of energy they're working with. So typically I will exclusively work with people who have holy fire training, just because I know the vibration and the frequency of that energy very well and that it is coming from the highest levels of consciousness. So that is important to me. I also tend to just see what their overall feel is.

Speaker 3:

The last year when I've been going through some personal health challenges and things, I've been working with some of the other licensed teachers just to try them out and get to know them in new ways and different ways. So that's been nice as well to have that support system. But also, just, you know, we're colleagues, we're friends, you know, having that experience, I, as an intuitive healer, you know I'm always looking to help people and finding their root cause of healing and able to support them in that way. So it definitely helps if people have some additional training or background in confidence in their intuition. For me, Okay beautiful.

Speaker 2:

So, as a you know licensed Reiki master teacher out there, with many different systems that you are offering in classes, for what advice would you give someone who's just entering this profession?

Speaker 3:

would you give someone who's just entering this profession One is you know, be gentle with yourself. I think people expect themselves to be as good as their teachers, like immediately, and oh, I have to be just like them, you know, instead of being their own self and having their own journey and realizing they'll get there sooner than later if they stop trying so hard. First of all, it's okay to be a beginner. That's what I like to tell people. It's okay to be a beginner and start where you're at. As long as you're being authentic to yourself, people will be attracted to you, so you don't have to become somebody else. I see a lot of people trying to do things like they see it's popular on social media or something, or they see somebody do some movement and I'm like where did you learn that? You know they're like trying to do all this like crazy stuff with their hands and their videos.

Speaker 3:

You know, it's too much You're doing too much. I mean depends on if that's inspired and channeled. I'm not trying to judge people if that feels right for them, but yeah, basically it is, just start with where you're at. Do a lot of self-work. That's also really important when you're building, if you're wanting to build a career or just wanting to connect further with the energy. I think doing a lot of inner work is very important as well. It's not an external thing, like lots of people learn Reiki just to work on other people and they skip the steps of working on themselves. But things are going to come up if you don't do that work and they're going to show you that you have to work on yourself regardless. So I encourage people to start with doing the inner work and not just becoming a part of their path as well as giving to others yeah.

Speaker 2:

And I find you know working with the Holy Fire specifically. If it's not right, it'll shut that down Like nope. You need to stop Take care of yourself. Yeah, very powerful. So our next question this can be about Reiki or any personal book that has helped you on your own journey. So what books do you recommend?

Speaker 3:

So I really love. It's funny because a lot of things that were coming into me during my spiritual journey I found out later oh, louise Hay already wrote a book. But it was just like internally, like things affirmations would drop in or things would come in of if I talk to myself. This is how I can talk to the energy and encourage it to release Hayes books like you Can Heal your Life. I really like that kind of stuff. Just the idea of we have the ability to heal, I think is really important for people to learn and understand.

Speaker 3:

I've always really liked Wayne Dyer's books and that kind of inspirational messaging. I really like Ram Dass, more sort of, I guess, spiritual teachers like that that are self-reflective as well as helping to help others. So again, that internal work of what do I have to heal here and how can I change myself to help humanity in some way or my relationships or whatever the case may be there. Beautiful, yeah, I don't really like read a lot of books on Reiki too much, or even like the psychic and mediumship stuff. I will read books, but I feel like those are those people's experiences.

Speaker 2:

So when it?

Speaker 3:

comes to energy and actual technique. It's helpful to see how some people do stuff, but it's also can color your own experience with it.

Speaker 2:

Fair enough? Yeah, you want to cultivate your own relationship with it? Yeah, very good.

Speaker 3:

Oh, this book said this. Well, okay, that was their experience, right, right as you probably know this as well.

Speaker 2:

When you have your level one, students come and they've read somewhere that their hands should be warm or tingling, and they're not. They have that expectation. You just have to have your own experience. If you're that empath, you're going to feel this way, or it has to be that way.

Speaker 3:

For me it's energy, so there's no uniform way that people have to do something. You know, there is flexibility and following your own inner guidance. That is also important to learn as well.

Speaker 2:

Sure, when I began like tarot card reading, card reading, I was doing it intuitive. And then I took a training and I got into how it was supposed to be in the training and I was going step by step and I got used to doing it that particular way. Then I worked with a student who became a friend and she did this intuitive and I'm like what's happening? And these cards were just everywhere. And she said spirit told me to put what's happening. And these cards were just everywhere. And she said spirit told me to put it like this. And then it was that aha moment, like oh my goodness, I need to just untrain myself and just let the intuition flow. So sometimes you can get wrapped up into one way of doing it.

Speaker 3:

For sure, I mean, people need structure, they need a foundation to build upon. So we need technique, you know, sure. But then it's also having the freedom that, if this technique doesn't feel right, you are allowed to follow your own inner guidance there, sure.

Speaker 2:

Sure, yeah, yeah. And I showed a student a technique and she worked on it for a couple of weeks and then she, you know, called me and she said I just hate this. And I'm like then don't do it. Simple as that. It's an option that we teach you. If it doesn't resonate, don't do it, it's okay. There's no Reiki police that are going to break the door down right and handcuff you.

Speaker 3:

That's what I would say, yeah. No Reiki police handcuff you. That's what I would say. Yeah, that's what I would say. No Reiki police coming after you. No Reiki police, right. So ultimately, if your intention is for the highest good of both of you, or all of you, or this planet, or whatever way, you want to say that there can't, you're not, you can't do harm from that intention from that intention, absolutely, absolutely.

Speaker 2:

So what?

Speaker 3:

other services do you? Offer? Do you offer trainings, classes, events, all of it. I'm one of those people that if I just did the same thing all the time, I'd be bored. So I have to have. I like to give myself a lot of different variety.

Speaker 3:

I like to give myself a lot of different variety. So I teach all levels of Reiki as a licensed Reiki master teacher for the International Center for Reiki Training, which includes Usui Reiki, karuna Reiki and ICRT Animal Reiki. And then I also teach crystal healing. I teach psychic and mediumistic development. It's on the list to teach some sound healing because I've just been asked for it for so many years. I also host mediumship events online and in person and retreats and spiritual trips. So there's a lot of different things going on.

Speaker 3:

I just got back from Big Bear where we had a retreat last weekend and I'm working on another Egypt trip for next year and some other travel stuff coming up as well. So there's a lot of different things going on. And then as a one-to-one client or small groups I work doing healing stuff. I combine Reiki, crystals and sound and my intuition with my healing sessions. And then I also do psychic and mediumistic readings. Those vary in style depending on what people are looking for. It also includes medical intuition, if people want that, or connecting to people's spiritual paths, which we call a spiritual assessment reading, or if you just want psychic guidance or you want to connect with your loved ones in spirit. Those are all the different kinds of things that I do.

Speaker 2:

Beautiful and sound bad. Very good. And, and, and I was looking on your webpage. It's just you can tell you like variety because you mix it up during the month. You'll do animal one month and you'll do holy fire, yes. So where can we find you online in person, if you're interested in booking a session, taking one of your trainings, attending one of your events?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, online and in person. Most of my classes are available online and in person, unless it's like a special event Like next week I'm going up to the Santa Cruz, california area and I'm doing some live classes in the redwood forest. So we're going to be outside all day in the redwood trees. But yeah, most of my stuff is online or in person, or online and in person, so it depends on the class, but all of my sessions are done online or in person.

Speaker 2:

Okay, Okay, and where would we go to find that? Do you have a website? Social media? I do have a website, yes.

Speaker 3:

Healing with Jewels. So wwwhealingwithjewelscom, my social media. I'm on all the different platforms, as at medium jewels and at Auralux Reiki. So A-U-R-A-L-U-X Reiki or medium jewels, that's also a way that you can find me.

Speaker 2:

Beautiful and I found you on Reikiorg.

Speaker 3:

That's also a way that you can find me. That's for our licensed teachers. There's about a little over 40 of us that are licensed. What that means is we're licensed by the center. We've been vetted. We went through that thousand plus hour of training in order to become a licensed teacher. So I've trained a lot more than a thousand hours, but that's just for that specific program.

Speaker 3:

It's a thousand hours as well, so and we're looking for more licensed teachers so people are experienced in Reiki there are some potentials for you to join our community as well.

Speaker 2:

Sure, sure, and that's why I went. I had learned Reiki when I lived in Pittsburgh, so there was a place called the energy connection, so that's where I learned, and then I finished all of that and then I wanted to be a part of Reikiorg. So I retook everything and that's how I connected with you to retake it. So, all right, well, that ends our first part of our journey together and I'm going to continue on this journey with you to ask you some questions from social media, from listeners and Reiki students. So here we go. Number one how can I trust my intuition?

Speaker 3:

I think that's the biggest question, always Like how do I trust? Is this coming from me or something else? Usually, when it's coming through your intuition, it's very concise, the messages are clear. It's not a jumbled thought, it's like go here, do this. Yes, she's the right one. You know something is guiding you that feels like it's either coming from beyond you or you know. It just feels right within you. If it's, that's the biggest thing that I would say is learning to trust your intuition and looking at where have I not trusted my intuition at times where like, oh, I knew that was going to happen or I knew that. So what did you feel when those messages were coming in?

Speaker 3:

Most people have a strong sense of feeling. Clairsentience you may see things. Clairvoyance you may hear things clairaudiently, see things, clairvoyance you may hear things clairaudiently. You may just have an inner knowing. Claircognizance we call it. But really those feelings, it just feels right. I can't explain it, but it just feels right or it just feels wrong, or whatever the case may be, I would go with those gut instincts, those feelings, the first impression. If you tend to have anxiety, naturally you might want to take a minute because sometimes anxiety can come in first and you can have that negative thought of like no, something is telling you something is wrong, but it's not actually wrong. So that is the only time that I would say pause for a moment if you feel that anxiety coming in and ask for guidance from beyond that. So ask for something to come in to help you to be clear about the messaging that you're getting. Is this my fear, or is this my intuition alerting me that there's something to be fearful of?

Speaker 2:

me that there's something to be fearful of, right, right. And you have had these psychic abilities since you were a young child and so, just so our listeners know, I call them the Claire's right. So you work with all of the Claire's right, with your experience, with spirit. So, just so our listeners know, real deal, here I have all the Claire's.

Speaker 3:

Well, some people focus so much on clairvoyance, which I've had since I was a girl, but all of it is necessary really. Sure Abilities and feeling can sometimes be way more important than seeing. So if you're in a state of developing your intuition, don't worry. If you can't see yet, say I can't see, I can't see. Maybe you can't see yet. You can also have your guides to help support you on developing that. But the feeling stuff I think is the most important, claire, of just trusting that feeling, because you can feel emotions, you can feel physical things you can feel energy like.

Speaker 3:

there's all different kinds of things that are much more clear through feeling than through your vision, so sure.

Speaker 2:

Yes, so those that don't know that, the Claire's, you know, it's the see, the feel, the hear, the know, the taste and the smell. So that's what she works into her mediumship. Yeah, all right. So our second question how do I ensure practicing self-care with competing priorities?

Speaker 3:

How do I ensure practicing self-care with competing priorities? I guess I'm not sure if I understand what the competing priorities part is. What do you think that means, Tracy?

Speaker 2:

So for what that would mean, I would gather, is you know, you know you need rest, but perhaps there is an event that you were invited to, Maybe you were going to go speak or do this or that. So what do you do when you're in these situations where you're running a business but at the same time, you have to do a little bit of self-care?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, yeah. Well, I think if somebody is giving you an extraordinary opportunity, consider it definitely. And that could look like I have a standing appointment every other week with my chiropractor, slash naturopath, so I see her every other week. It's just on my calendar. I don't have to think about it unless I'm traveling or something. So some of my appointments I just have built in so that I know I'm taking that time for myself. It's already on the calendar.

Speaker 3:

Instead of figure out when I can go see this person and all that kind of stuff, maybe that looks like just, you know, going outside and sitting in nature for a few minutes at the event that you're going to. So you've taken a little bit of time to call in your own energy and then you can go and still do whatever it is that you wanted to do or wherever you're invited to speak. I think it's. You know, balancing out self care with life is, I think, our eternal. I don't know if I want to say challenge, but I think it's definitely something that I've been working on a lot over the years because there's so much to do.

Speaker 3:

I mean I could be working 24 seven every day with all the stuff that I do. Sometimes you feel guilty of like taking some time off or not responding immediately, and so I've been learning that it's okay to take me time and invest in myself, and I think that that's also as important. It's kind of like therapists, I would say. You know, therapists are required, or they're recommended, to have their own therapy and to balance out all of the things, because anything really that's a lot to navigate all day long. Being in people's pain, I love it. I wouldn't change it for anything. But some days you're like I just need a little bit of me energy or me I need to disconnect. I don't need to hear about somebody else's problems today, and so finding the balance in that, where you're giving yourself permission to take a time out, even if it's just a few hours, to like shut off and disconnect, is really important if you want longevity in this business.

Speaker 2:

Very good. Now our third question. Many of the listeners may not be aware of what's kind of going on in our world with legislation with Reiki, but why do you think it's important to stay current on legislation regarding Reiki?

Speaker 3:

So a few years ago an email went out saying we need some help with a legislative committee for the International Center for Reiki Training. Are any of our licensed teachers interested in helping? Well, I knew that in the state of California I already had protection so I didn't need to necessarily advocate for anything here, but I'm always interested in helping others and so I signed up for it and ended up becoming like the head of our committee over the next six months of just meeting and exploring. And the reason why it was about three years ago, I think, that the committee got set up. The reason why was because in Massachusetts they've had all of these issues where these bad bills have been put forward for energy licensing. They keep trying to disguise it or put it in in a different way and ultimately what that does is it gives the state control over how we can practice Reiki. And it's quite significant and serious what was happening in Massachusetts, because not only did they want to control it, they wanted to charge an exorbitant fee. It was like over $8,000 to have this license, which was it's 400. I looked it up it was about $400 to be a surgeon, like have a surgeon's license. So you know like what did they think that we were doing? And they basically were putting it under the sex trafficking laws, even though there was no history of sex trafficking having any connection to energy healing work.

Speaker 3:

Obviously there is some concern about that and it's very small, but in massage, but they were just lumping Reiki and massage together and saying that we needed to have a license, just like massage therapists, so that they could have some oversight. Now there's so many different systems of Reiki and there's so many different techniques in those different systems and so if you have a governmental body with oversight, that could change the way that we have to practice our Reiki. So we as an organization, and myself personally, don't believe it's necessary to license Reiki, mainly because it doesn't meet the threshold of causing harm. Things that require licensing it's because they could cause harm. You go to a bad massage therapist, a bad surgeon, something like that. Obviously that could lead to something more serious, but just putting your hands on somebody or giving a Reiki session, we know that it can't do any harm as long as people are being just a clear channel of that energy.

Speaker 3:

Because other states were starting to pop up, there's an, there's an organization that has two different names, but it's run by the same people that was trying to endorse and has a lot of power, that was trying to endorse this energy licensing, and so they were trying it in other states as well. Well, the you know they're the only organization that could license you. You know, it's a whole money grab kind of situation too, where they say that they'd be able to measure the energy coming from your hands to see if you were a real energy healer, and that then they could license you. It's like this, it's silly. So it's important to keep track because there are different rules in different states.

Speaker 3:

We only monitor the United States because you know how can we keep track of the whole world? We're based here as an organization, so we monitor legislation and legislative activity in different states, and actually more than 20 years ago when the National Health Freedom Organization was established, national Health Freedom Organization was established, william was on the board, and who they are is an organization that works towards health freedom for a lot of different complementary and quote-unquote alternative modalities, meaning naturopaths and herbalists and reflexologists and things like that that might not fall under the umbrella of licensing. He was working with that organization, so they have been instrumental in helping safe harbor exemption bills getting passed, which has been helpful for Reiki practitioners often were included under those bills. They're named different things in different states. I know there's a lot more information but it is important because there are 11 at the moment.

Speaker 3:

We had a couple bills attempt to get passed in some other states and they didn't. Because of politics and the way that things work, they didn't get passed. One of them was in Massachusetts which there's a lot of support for but they kind of shelved it there. But we need to pop up and be on top of these things. You know we had a couple of years where it was constant like whack-a-mole, like you know, no, no, no, and we got our Reiki community on board and people would write letters and testify at these hearings and essentially it's important to keep track of what the rules are in your state and also what could be a future law that gets snuck in and can create difficulty for Reiki practitioners. They've done it to other holistic modalities over the years where suddenly nobody knew that they snuck a bill in or they changed the wording or they've included Reiki under the definition of massage and if it's under the definition of massage then you have to have a massage license to practice Reiki in some states. So those are things that are.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, we got to watch out for that stuff.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, well, thank you for clearing that up so that our listeners kind of understand how things are moving and to be very mindful with that. And that's what I love about the International Center of Reiki, reikiorg, because, you know, not only is what you learn there evidence-based, but they stay contemporary and let us know what's going on. Yeah, thank you, yeah.

Speaker 3:

And we're doing the work for all Reiki people. It's not just for our system. So our goal is to keep Reiki free for everybody, meaning not necessarily free monetarily, but to keep it free from outside control and influence, so that we all have a right to practice the systems of Reiki and the techniques that we want to practice without there being any control.

Speaker 2:

All right, very good. Well, that is our last question, but, as we were talking, is there anything that you may have forgotten about or something that you would like to share with the listeners?

Speaker 3:

I think I just keep hearing to be gentle with yourself.

Speaker 3:

You know that is something that I say a lot to people, but you know, we can get so lost in our minds. Or we should be here, we should be there on our healing journey, we should be there with our learning, we should, we should, we should, and I feel like, just be gentle. There is work that needs to be done to achieve your goals. It just doesn't passively happen, massively happen, but they're also a balance of that, of it's okay to be where I am right now and I know that that's the destination that I want to get to, and I have the ability to manifest that, and so, and it will come in exactly the way that's meant for me. You know, because sometimes we have a limiting belief on it has to look like this, or else it's not the right thing. And so just being open to what the universe or spirit or God whatever word you believe in brings to you while you're doing the work, and so that consistency of doing the work for yourself will bring you great reward.

Speaker 2:

Wonderful. Well, thank you so much for joining me on this journey. I really appreciate. I know you have a very busy schedule and you just took this time to you know, reconnect with you right and be a part of this journey. So thank you so much.
